Consider sharing it with your friends.

On Wednesday, July 11 we have our agency tour at Doner in Southfield. We will be talking with some creatives on their team. What would you like to know?

Give me a question or two you would like to ask them and I can submit in advance. This is a great opportunity. I also encourage you to bring your resume and dress for success, as you can land a job on this trip!

Here are my questions for Doner:

What are the most important skills somone can develop to make their resume stand out? Is there anything that can be learned quickly of value?

I imagine staying on top of current trends is important. Does Doner encourage employees to follow any specific websties or blogs? If so, would you be able to share which ones they are?

Since I'm new to the world of advertising, I don't know a lot about the creative process that goes into designing a campaign. Here are some of the questions I'm curious to hear about:

  • How many teams/people are involved with the design of a single client ad campaign? Does Doner have multiple teams of "creatives" with different specialties, or do they focus on hiring as diverse a cast of individuals as possible for one team, each with their own diverse strengths to make for a well-rounded group? What are some of those strengths or specialties Doner looks for in an employee? Honestly, I want to know what it means to them to be a "creative."
  • What tools does Doner use and expect their employees to know coming in to their first day on the job? What would an average day look like for a member of their creative team? What kind of work environment do they promote for their employees?
Student

My questions for Doner:

1.) How has social media advertising changed your overall process?

2.) How does an ad agency advertise itself to gain more clients?

Student

A couple questions that I have for Doner include:

1) With the array and diverse range of clients you possess, how do you make sure each client is acheiving what they want as a brand?

2) With the changing times, how to you reinvent not only yourself as an agency, but your clients as well?

Student

A couple questions I'd like to ask those at Doner:

- What is your creative team's typical process? Walk me through from first receiving a task all the way to completion/client brief.

- What are some things you would want a recent college advertising grad to bring to the table at an agency like yours? I know advertising is an ever-changing landscape so I'm curious to know what they expect younger employees to have knowledge of.

Student

Some questions I would like to ask the creatives at Doner would be:

-What do you feel are the agencies strengths and weaknesses? What does Doner do best?

-What would you say was the most challenging account you've worked on, why and what did you learn from it?

I would love to learn some of the reasons behind why employees choose to work for Doner, and also the challenges that being on the creative side brings.

Student

I don't know as much about advertising as others so I guess my questions would be something along the lines of:

  • How do you craft an ad that easily translates to different languages, especially when it comes to humor?
  • What processes do they use to generate new ideas when working on a new project?
Student

I got two questions for Doner

1. What are the hardest and easiest case you guys had handle before, if you don't mind, may I know client's name of your easiest and hardest case?

2. In the field of advertising, if you guys offer jobs to students from the university, what will be the most important thing the HR office focus on? Learning skills? Working efficiency? What in detail will that be?

Student

The two questions I would have for Doner are:

1.      What are some changes that are expected to happen within the industry of Advertising in the near future?

2.      What do employers of advertising industries look for in candidates for employment?
