Graham Davis just posted on finding a job, and I can tell you that an internshp goes a long way in making that happen.

This winter/spring semester Ingenex Digital Marketing is looking for a few star interns. If you are good at social media, enjoy writing blog posts, or simply want to take a deeper dive into graphic design, analytics, web design, or content marketing then an Ingenex Internshp may do you well.

I'm curious have you had a good internship? Write about it in the comments here. And if you can commit to 15 hours of work next semester (2 days min) and want some great experience, then apply at Ingenex for our digital marketing internship. Our interns have gone on to great success and fame. And so could you!

Unfortunately, I have had an internship yet. I hope to get a summer internship dealing with the public relations or marketing field. I aspire to work in an upbeat environment and I belive that the world of public relations can fufill my want. I really want to broaden my work experience and work with other lines of work as well. The communication field has much to offer and I cannot wait to see what it has in store for me this upcoming summer/school year.

I honestly have never had an internship and that scares me so much. I know in order to be taken seriously at job interviews I am going to need to have experience and the only way to get experience is to get an internship. So hopefully this summer I can find an internship.

I am currently an intern at a PR firm in East Lansing and it has been a great experience. I do a ton of writing, media relations, social media and even prepare clients for on-air interviews. I've already had quite a big media hits and have learned a ton. It's a year-long internship, so I'm positive that after this year I will be prepared for my first full-time position.

Student

I have been very fortunate and I had an engineering internship last spring. I had to take the semester off because I had to move to Italy for the internship. While living in Italy I learned a ton about creating an online website and I wrote a lot of their summaries for their web.  The company I worked for worked largely in Italy, Dubai, the US and Djibouti.  Having the internship with a company located in different countries allowed me to see that I don’t want to sit at a desk everyday. I want to be able to travel with my job. I am not sure what I fully want to do yet. Working with Ingenex Digital Marketing would be a really cool way to gain more experience in the everyday world of media and marketing.

I currently have an internship with the Big Ten Network here at MSU as a broadcast intern and have been one since last year. I love this job. I get paid to watch sports, well in my case film them. While this job may not have anything to do with my creative advertising career it has been a great way to network and add what can be very useful skills to my resume and possible career.

Student

That is so cool that you have an internship with the Big Ten Network. I know some one who just got an internship with them and they are going to the big ten championship game! So cool!!

Student

I had a semester-long internship my sophomore year. What most people don't realize is, yes, internships are great experience toward finding you a job, but they can also help you realize what you don't want to do. My experience had positives and negatives. It needed a lot of organization, which put quite a bit of weight on my colleague and me. However, it did spark my interest in non-profits and community-growth efforts. I also got to practice skills I learned in my Professional Writing courses and meet influential community members. I guess my conclusion is to seize as many opportunities as possible while in college, not just for your resume but for the personal advantage of tailoring your career desires.

Student

I honestly really appreciated this post because I am currently looking for internships. I have never had one yet being that last year I had taken quite a few classes while deciding what I really wanted to change my major too. Now that I have decided, it is time for me to start looking for internships for this upcoming summer and school year.  I plan to look more into this internship and to apply as well!

I unfortunately have not had an internship yet. Being a full time student and being a part of the football team here the time for an internship or a job is limited. Although I do plan on doing some job shadowing and maybe just maybe finding a small internship around the Lansing/East Lansing area this summer. I know having the experience of an internship would help a great deal while searching for a job.  Ingenex Digital Marketing seems like a great opportunity to get experience with and I do have a passion for graphic design.

Student

I am fortunate to have had two very amazing internships. I had the opportunity to work at LEAD Marketing in Grand Rapids this past summer and I am currently at Skyline Outdoor this semester. The majority of my work is media-focused and at both companies we dealt heavily with OOH and traditional formats. I would definitely like to dip my feet into digital, especially after taking this course, Interactive Advertising and Monitoring & Measuring Social Media.

Currently I am working 15 hours at my internship, along with a Monday thru Thursday desk job in the Department of Media & Information on campus and I work at Capital Prime Steakhouse on the weekends. I also devote time as a member of the media team for MSU's American Advertising Federation chapter. Of course being a student comes first, but I do enjoy engaging myself in experiences other than class and school. It's certainly been quite the balancing act this semester.

Next semester I am eligible to work up to 27 internship hours to receive class credit.  I have begun applying because I am looking to broaden my skillset and be challenged in new areas of the industry before I graduate in May.

Student

I have not had an internship yet. I am really looking for one next semester or either for the summer time. I work part to full time and currently go to school full time as well. I would be able to cut back on work hours. I think that an internship with Ingenex would be an amazing experience. I would like an internship for more than just the experience as well as a good thing for my resume and think that this one would be a great opportunity. I plan to fill our an application with your company for this internship.

Student

I have been lucky enough to have had the opportunity of a wonderful internship. It was in the summer of 2013 and it was at the Bay Harbor Yacht Club in Bay Harbor, Michigan. I was the Food and Beverage intern for the entire summer, and I could not have been happier with my experience. I learned a wealth of information shadowing some of the best in the hospitality business. It gave me a fantastic insight into that industry, and helped me decide between majors. I ultimately chose advertising, but it would not have been without that summer up north.

Student

I have not found an internship yet for myself. Currently, I am very busy going to school full time, mangaging a part time business, and working full time. I plan to look into internships very soon though. I'm really interested in the intern work at Ingenex. The topics coinside very well with my personal business, and I would love to learn the skills needed to further my online marketing. I am an advertising major, however I really do not want to work with advertising or in an advertising agency. I want to focus more on marketing and connecting through social media. I see this as a huge outlet and would like to utilize as much as I can from social media. Interning would be a great place for me to start to see the direction I want to go with my career.

Student

I had a great internship the last two summers at Berlin Packaging in Chicago. What made this a great internship expirence is the expirence I had working at all different types of the business.

Student

I have not yet had an intership because I recently switched from a Human Biology major and never had to really do the whole intership process. I am interested in working for this company and if given the opportunity, would be really excited to utilize what I have learned from this course on a professional basis.

Student

I just tried to apply for your internship, except it would not accept any of the three different emails I tried. They all said invalid?

Student

I have yet to find an internship for next semester or the summer. I am actively looking for a part time internship for next semester, and I am also looking fora full time internship after I graduate. I know how important and helpful it can be to have one. Some of my friends have had internships, some have not. It's a mixed crowd. Michigan State has some helpful tools that can get you an internship or job, so the search is definitely on!

Student

I have had an internship before at the human resource department. It was a good experience for me I think. During that summer, I went to work everyday and sit in the office for a day. I had the same schedule with normal employees. Even thought, my duty was just classificate and upload resumes, I still learned a lot from this interenship. I learned more communication skills with my co-workers and boss, and to be respectful to everybody and get work on time. These were not be learned from schools or universities.

Student

I have not had an intership experience yet but I heard about internship from my friends. They all told me that internship is really important and great experience before getting a job. Through the internship, they could think about their major is fit well with them and learn what they will do in the future. Internship is also essential and a great advantage for career. Thus, I want to have some internship expeirences so I can guess which works I will take in the future. Moreover, by internship, I can realize that which part is my weakness so I can make more effort for the weakeness part.

Student

I too have not yet had any intern experience. It has been a very hard process for me to try and figure out which carreer path I would like to head down, and I know an internship can help me narrow down my choices. This internship seems like a great opportunity to put my coursework to use and really see if I am heading down the right track. An internship will also give a good look as what to expect once I enter the real world and give me a more gradual transition from my undergrad into the work force.

Student

I have not yet had an internship. I've begun my feverish look for one this semester. I've been lucky enough to be offered several part-time employment opportunities that take up a lot of my time and are also relevant to my career goals and interests. However, I know I will need to take a break from this and have an actual internship before I graduate. I'm hoping to be promoted to the PR/Media manager at one of my current jobs, and if that happens I will most likely hold off interning until the summer. If that doesn't work out, this is something I would be very interested in! I know it starts next semester, but do you have an ideal exact starting date?

Student

This past summer I had an incredible 12 week internship opportunity working in the Product Communications department at Ford Motor Company. I was the only intern in the department, which meant that I earned tons of hands on experience and had the opportunity to learn from many talented individuals. This was my first taste of working 40 hours per week, which was a great introduction to what the real world will be like. The coolest part of the internship for me was getting to work on the communications plan for the 2015 Ford Edge. I went to the reveal for the Ford Edge in June and spent the rest of the summer developing the strategy for how we would keep momentum for the Edge's story until January (when the product goes on sale). I had the chance to work with individuals across many departments at Ford, as well as with people from other organizations as well. Beyond this, I learned how to pitch stories to media and how to run a media event. Overall this was the best professional experience I have ever had, and I am grateful for all of the things I learned and the networking I was able to do. I would recommend to every student to get hands on experience such as this since it is the best way to learn about our chosen careers.

Student

I am currently interning with a professor in the COM school and I work 20 hours a week for a one credit class. I have learned so far that it is doable to work an internship, a job, and have a full schedule of classes, (and have a life). It isn't easy but I have already seen the benefits of having an internship. I am gaining priceless experience from someone who knows the industry very well. I could never learn what I have learned so far in a classroom. The hands on experience is what separates me from other people studying in my field because like I said it is truly priceless. I am able to step outside my comfort zone by doing tasks and roles I am not used to but this has broaden my knowledge in different fields. I highly recommend to all students to try out different internships in the field you plan on pursuing. I have learned from this internship that I can always continue to learn and that this is the right career path for me.

Student

I think nothing compares to real world experience. So having an internship is ideal to aquire workplace sills and real life interpersonal relation tactics. I have not have had an internship yet, but I am certanly on the hunt! I want to be able to both learn from the job and apply my knowledge to school work as well. I have had great experience at part time jobs, which can help you develope some professional skills as well. When I waitressed in Wyoming this summer I learned a lot about the workings of upper managemnt, marketing, and personal sales. Those skills would be great in a sales internship!

Student

I have not had an internship opprotunity yet. However, I have had the opprotunity of being a Teaching Assistant for an advertising management course. This experience has really helped me in gaining a deeper understanding of the industry. The position has also opened up many doors in the field of advertising for me. I hope to obtain an intership this spring/summer and am sure it will give me an even greater insight to the industry.

Student

I also would like to say that I would not like to do a internship in Spring that takes 15 hours a week. I think it is hard to deal with school and a constant work schedule.

Student

Yes I have had a good internship, I worked for the RVP in new banking at Quicken Loans. I enjoyed the summer working there because working a full time internship gave me the experience to get ahead of others when trying to get another internship or job. I had such a good summer and was so well liked I got a position as a Quicken Loans campus ambassador.

Student

For the coming spring semester, I will participating in a study abroad internship program. The internship will work directly with the college and classes for a hands on learning experience to go beyond the traditional way of learning. An intnership is an important part of a students career path. Intenrships allow you to apply your education to real sitautions to better understand how to use your education. A good GPA doesn't mean much if a student doesn't know how to apply the education. Interships can also show work habbits and general characteristics of a student. These qualities will help them get a job in the future. Employers look for experience and want references from former employers to see how someone would handle both the work and work environment. Having internships in the field a student wants to further their future in is a great way to ensure a stable career.

Student

I believe that internships are very important for your careers. After college potential employers care more about your job experience then your grades in college. I have been working with the Women's Basketball team here under the Director of Operations for the past 3 years. Since i want to get into Sports Admin. I think this can be really helpful when I look to get a job after college.

Student

I had an internship in the Winter of 2013. I'm probably one of the few that really did not like my internship. I was overworked (minimum I worked 60 hours a week), and just felt like another number within a larger corporation. However, I do believe it prepared me for what I can expect when I start working fulltime, possibly even over prepared me. To get a full time job after college, however,  I do believe an internship is almost necessary. It shows you went the extra mile to do some real work while in college and your motivated to start working.

Student

Internships are vital to a well-rounded college experience. I had an internship last Spring at Michigan Creative, which is a creative marketing firm in Lansing. At this internship I worked on building websites and creating brocures, logos, and print items for our clients. I learned how to brainstorm with a creative team and work through different ideas during the design process. After finishing the internship I was hired to work part time and I currently still work at Michigan Creative doing Web & Graphic Design. Without an internship I would have not learned vital skills that I need before I enter the workforce - I think all students should have at least one internship before they graduate.

Student

I have been very fortunate to have three really great internship experiences; while they were all very different, each experience was valuable to my career. The internship I enjoyed the most was working with Chrysler Academy’s marketing and communications team. It was there that I gained experience in writing blog posts, developing marketing content, project management, and developing strategic communications plans. It was so nice to have something new and exciting to learn every day, very rarely did I work the same day twice. Also, last spring I was a marketing intern for MSU Human Resources, where I grew to love writing blog posts and managing social media networks. I think my internship with HR prepared me extremely well for Chrysler.

Being that I am finishing up my Masters degree, I am hoping to find full time employment rather than another internship, but the Ingenex internship sounds like a great experience. I also believe that internships are much more valuable to your career than a good GPA!

I did have an internship over the summer. It was very helpful in learning about digital PR. I had an online based internship with a public relations company and I am glad I got to work and get some experience before I graduate in May. Having an internship is crucial for experience and to get a job after we graduate. It was a great time to learn about the field and I am glad I got to experience it.

Student

I have never had an internship before, but I know it is crucial that I have one this summer.  My resume will look much better once I have some stronger work experience listed rather than just bussing tables at a restaurant.   I have not been looking at internships much because I am busy with school, however, I know that I need to get started on the process and I plan on starting this week.  Many people I have talked to this year worked as interns over summer of 2013 and I feel like I need to catch up to stay on the same level.  This type off internship sounds very interesting to me, I enjoy using social media and believe it can be a pretty powerful resource when used correctly.  I will look at my options to see if Ingenex could be an option for me for next semester.

Student

Having an internship is the best thing to do. It helps you realize what exactly you want to do after graduation.

I have actually had a lot of experience with digital marketing and social media promotions! My freshman and sophmore year I worked for Life in Color Promotions, or as most people know it as "Dayglow." It was my job to promote the show on my social media accounts, informing about giveaways, contests for free tickets, and the dates and times and locations of the shows in Michigan. I also received free tickets to the show and was responsible for taking pictures and promoting the show on social media as well.  I also help promote and sell Spring Break Packages to various 5 star hotels in Mexico!

This summer I had an internship at a Marketing Agency in Rochester Hills called Eventnext! Here I assisted with the launch of a 20-week marketing tour for the 2015 Chrysler 200. I did everything from working with creative design, to market research and event scheduling! I helped to coordinate promotional logistics for companies such as Brooks running shoes, yellow pages, and chocolate milk--some of them at national event including the IronMan Triathlon! A big part of my job was also updating the EventNext Facebook and twitter pages and I also created an EventNext Instagram Account.

I love the idea of a digital Marketing Internship, and would love to hear more about what Ingenex has to offer!

Student

Currently, I am interning with The New York Times selling digital subscriptions to MSU student body.  I started doing internships in high school with State Senator John Proos and haven't stopped working since. And yes, I agree, internships DO go a long way--even further than grades do!

Student
I never had an internship in my life. I know that internship is very important in order to get a job. this opportunity sounds very intriguing. Since my major is advertising this internship will provide me with great experience and skills.
Student

I am currently doing an internship with the Sparrow Foundation here in Lansing. I am a marketing intern which requires social media interaction, preparing mass email's and writing press releases among many other things. The Sparrow Foundation recieves funding and donations for the hospital through several events throughout the year that the staff develop and coordinate. The experiences I have had with the Foundation have been hugely rewarding and have had a profound impact my life and I'm sure that will continue into the future.

Student

Unfortunately, I have not had an internship yet, but I am currenty in the search process for one. I am working two different campus jobs this semester that are keeping me very busy. I know how important internships are so, my ultimate goal is to land an internship for this summer.

Student

After reading and hearing you talk about the company, I can see myself doing this. I have had an internship last summer but it wasn't like this company. I want to go into event planning so I interned at Debi Lillys "A Perfect Event" last summer based in Chicago. I am interested in doing an advertising internship also so I can learn how to advertise for a company. I want to start my own event planning business one day.My goal is to educate myself more about marketing a business. Taking this class has been crucial to learning how to market myself on social media. Last summer interning at a perfect event allowed me to gain knowledge on events and how to start the business in my own home.

Student

I have never had an internship.  This internship sounds like a great opportunity as a learning experience for social media and blogging.  It would be nice to have an internship, not only as something to put on my resume in advertising, but also to gain great experinces.

Student

I have not had an internship yet. I am currently a junior and hope to have one this summer. Last summer I went on study abroad, which I would highly encourage everyone to do in addition to an internship if you can. The Ingenex digital marketing internship looks like a great opportunity, as having an understanding in this area can lead to great success. I will look into this while on the search for an internship!

Student

I had an internship in Korea, at a job counseling academy named WINSPEC. It's a small company that gives lectures and feedbacks for people's resumes and tips on finding a job. I worked as an online marketing intern, and it was very new experience for me. It was very fun to make online posters and banners that will go inside the company's website and facebook page. I wrote all the letters and copies of the posters. Since that time, I think I became more interested in the power of social media and the use of it.

Student

I actually have not had an internship yet, even though I will be graduating soon. This is something that's definitely one of my top prioities at the moment, as I know the importance of having even a little bit of on site experience at a company. From what I hear, most people who have had internships have generally had a good time. They aren't designed to give you a very stressful time. If you managed to land an internship at a dream company and left good impressions, you are probably going to have an easier time getting a real job there. It's great that your firm is offering students an easy way to get some great experience and skills in the field of marketing, and I imagine many will not let this opportunity go by!

Student

I worked as a social media intern at ASIAN, Inc in San Francisco, California. It was a non-profit organization to support minority people and small business. I built the presence and awareness of ASIAN, Inc. by posting Facebook and Twitter. Likes and followers increased. I also created a series of staff videos called #StaffTueStaff that received the highest number of impressions of any other posts on Facebook page.
I  evaluated social media data, discussed company campaigns, analyzed tracking data collected regarding websites & social media. It was a great oppotunity to work in a professional field.

Student

I have not had an internship yet because i have enjoyed my summer jobs that past few years.  I am graduating in December and probably going to take some time off and look for an internship for the summer or next fall.

Student

I have not had the opportunity to get an internship yet. I am currently looking for an internship for this spring semester since I have a very open schedule. This class has already taught me so much about digital marketing, that I can only imagine how much more I would learn as an intern for Ingenex Digital Marketing.

I have heard wonderful things about internships, and that you grow and learn so much as a person. An experience like that is exactly what I am looking for. I want to find an internship where I can use my current skills and develop new ones to help me further develop into the world of advertising and marketing. I will definitely be applying for the digital marketing internship at Ingenex Digital Marketing.

Student

My internship last summer was a bit "haphazard." Three interns were hired including myself, the other two were Advertising majors. These interns, from the very beginning, devised plans and projects to work on over the summer (which meant I was already behind on day 1). Being a "management" major myself, I usually spend most of my time solving problems, answering questions, critiquing work, and generally "bossing" others around. Because the internship officer told us to do anything that would help improve the company's public relations, I was at a loss working on my own. PR is one of my weaknesses, in order to achieve the set goal I needed a team to brainstorm, design, and implement a plan. Working solo, all I could do was suggest that the company start a blog. However, I did not know how one even went about starting a blog. Another problem was that the communication between interns and the officer was almost nonexistent. No one was checking in with one another, asking questions, or making plans. I had no direction. If I do end up in an internship similar to this one, I at least feel confident that this class will help me to improve my performance as an intern.
