Hello class,

We're reaching the end of the course and we've discussed a wide range of topics. I suspect you natively understand some of the topics based on everyday use.

I'm curious however, what's the most interesting thing you've learned thus far? Can you see yourself using this knowledge in your career? If so, how?

Comments & Feedback

Student

Overall, I enjoyed further developing my analytical skills with online media. I didn't realize the amount of thought and work that went into developing a campaign for social media. Although my favorite topic was the analysis of their website and mobile applications. I enjoyed breaking down Under Armour's website both visually and functionally. Both play a very important role and a website design cannot successful without it being equally visial and functional. I've already been applying the knowledge to my advertising 486 class when doing competitor analysis. Being able to pull information about competitors where the information cannot be retrieved through traditional research has been a great benefit to my campaign development.

I found a lot of the lessons we learned to be very interesting and enlightening, considering that this is what I will be doing in the future. What I thought was so interesting and was kind of surprised at how important it was to brands, was mobile websites. I sued mobile websites everyday but didn't realize that a lot goes into them for some companies (some way more than others). I think I will have to use this in the future just because the use of mobile dveices is only going to increase over the years.

The most interesting thing I've learned so far is Inbound Marketing. It contains social, blogging, websites, mobile, and content. The importance of getting away from traditional marketing and into the world of new media can really help change your brand and take it into the future. On my way to becoming inbound certified, I have learned a lot of what it can bring to your brand.

Student

The most interesting thing I've learned from this class is inbound marketing and all of the analytics companies use to record data from their website. I will definitely be using this knowledge once I graduate as I am hoping to find a job as a web analyst. I find all of this information extremely interesting and love finding out what is working and what isn't working within a website. Inbound marketing drives users to the website which helps find trends in the web analytics data, which makes looking at the numbers way easier.

Student

The most interesting thing I have learned is all the metrics that companies have to track to determine what it working. I never realized there was so much to using social media and the amount of strategy it takes to make things successful. At some point I may use this information, but it all depends on what I end up doing.

Student

I think the most important concept that was introduced to me in this course is inbound marketing. I think a lot of people think of digital stratgey and marketing strategies as two separate things, but I think it's important to think of them as a complete strategy and I think inbound marketing is such a major part of it. It is not a term I've heard of in any of my other classes or, frankly, any internships I've had so it was definitely new knowledge for me even though I've heard of other aspects invloved in it including user personas and using blogs. I can absolutely see myself using these in any career, particularly as a marketing specialist and content strategist, because inbound marketing is a critical reason to hire content strategists in the first place.

Student

I think the most important thing I've learned this semester is just how important social media is for brands (especially my brand - Starbucks). Starbucks relies so heavily on their brand and the fact that they are a household name that they don't do as much SEO and other tpyes of marketing that I thought they would. They do, however, keep up with social media. So much of their audience is on social media regularly and Starbucks is very interactive with these customers - replying to their comments and liking their posts. I think they know good and well how to keep their cusotmers happy and engaged with them. Obviously, I know how popular social media is but I guess I had just never thought of it being a crucial marketing strategy for businesses.

Student

The most interesting thing I learned about this semester was Search Engine Optimization. To be honest, I was already pretty familiar with a lot of the marketing tactics we use because I have a pretty hands on marketing internship. However, I was not familiar with how SEO worked and I was very interested to learn. Now that I know this skill, I feel as if it gives me an advantage when competing for jobs in the future.

Student

The most interesting topic I learned in this class is mobile marketing. People use mobile phones everyday. This portable communication devices allow people to do their communicationa and shopping. I realize that there are a lot of opportunities for brands to communicate and sale products in a new way to their mobile users. I really like the concepts of user-friendly website & user-friendly mobile. My major is adveritisng design. It's really helpful for me to learn that the deisgn of website/mobile apps should be simple and intuitive to use.

Student

The most interesting thing I have learned is about inbound marketing because it is a technique I had never heard of. I will be able to use this method later on in my career and understand the techinical name for it. It is a relatively easy concept to understand and now I can identifiy it when I see that method.

Student

One of the topics I have enjoyed learning about this semester is search engine optimization. Coincedently, around the same time we started covering it for this class, I was also working with SEO at my internship. Before, I was very unaware of the impact that identifying keywords can have on a brand's visibility and overall success in attracting customers. Having read more about it, I am intrigued to continue building my knowledge in this area of marketing and media.

Student

The most interesting thing that I've learnd so far is inbound marketing. This is a very effective and useful marketing strategy. Making customers come to you. I will use this knowlege in my career. If I'm doing my own business, I might create videos and create blog using inbound marketing. It can catch customers attention and makeing customers come to you. It is a useful marketing strategy.

Student

I've learned that digital marketing is a lot more than just posts on social media and buying ad space on websites. Through a combination of a plethora of different techniques, a brand is able to successfully redefine itself online. This will help tremendously in both my career and everyday life as I now have a better understanding of how digital marketing works as a whole. I can also identify the gaps in certain campaigns and am able to help prove how/why certain campaigns work better than others.

Student

I have known a lot about a brand's Internet and social media. Have learned a lot about marketing online. The most i know is inbound marketing. It is a very interesting class and i have learned a lot of useful things in the class.

Student

As someone who wants to go into internet and social media media marketing, I think learning more about Inbound Marketing and SEO in this class will be very beneficial to my future profession. Learning how to target users and get your website more visibility can be vital to a brands online presense and can ultimately land them more visitors and potential customers. This class has tought me not only what Inbound Marketing and SEO are, but how to effectively use them.

Student

The most interesting thing I've learned is inbound marketing, which is a technique for drawing customers to products and services via content marketing, social media marketing, and search engine optimization. I will use it to my future career to help me analysis and plan.

Student

There are a lot of new topics i've learned while being in this class. I think the most interesting thing I've learned is Inbound marketing and SEOs. First I had no idea what inbound marketing was or what purpose it served but the more I read about the topic the more interested I got. I didn't know anything about what purpose the persona had or what it did. It is one of they keys of having a successful inbound marketing strategy. The different topic of content offers you could use, blog posts and the importance of how emails look to the recepient. SEOs were another interesting topic. I knew what they were but wasn't quite sure on how they are used. It amazes me how much goes into a successful SEO and the analytics involved.

Student

I would definitely say the most interesting foreign topic to me that we have discussed is Search Engine Optimization. I had never had the opportunity to research it for another class but I realized just how important it is when using the web. I'm not sure I will use it in my direct career path - but it is something I will definitely think of and observe more often when using the web!

Student

The most interesting thing I have learned so far from this course has been inbound marketing. Although I had taken the inbound certification by HubSpot before taking this course, it was really cool to look at inbound from the perspective of a brand and looking for ways to improve how they inbound. After getting some great practice and learning some new stuff about inbound, I can definitely see myself using inbound in the workplace. In fact, at my current internship, I find myself thinking about possible ideas for an inbound campaign that could really help improve our online presence.

Student

My biggest take is the importance of inbound marketing, how it can be so simple in that creating content to lure customers in can be as effective in certain cases as implementing ad campaigns to go after them. This can save a company a substaintial amount of money.

Student

I think the most interesting things is how the class is structured. I know my brand for a long time, but by diging in to it bit by bit, I felt that not only I learned things about digital marketing, but also now I have a much clear idea how to help a business's digital sites to generate profits. This will definitely help my in my career in the future. Since digital platforms are important tools for businesses to reach customers. Therefore, I think now I have some knowledge about this field.

Student

I think that the most interesting thing I've learned in this class is the concept of search engine optimization. I feel like it is something that I have noticed before, but never quite understood. Upon doing research and the homework assignment though, I see how important and interesting it really is. It's crucial that companies and websites optimize the perfect words, along with the perfect amount of words, in order to make it so their brand is seen amongst a multitdue of google searches. I think that this is something I would use in my future career because in today's day and age, every company has a website and every website needs to be seen in order to increase business.

Student

What I found the most interesting was when we were asked to compare the brands website's on our mobile devices and see how the company has/has not altered their sites to fit different devices. Before I did the research on the mobile apps assignment I thought all websites were set to fit each screen, but with my brand it became apparent that was not the case. I am now much more aware when using mobile devices to look up different brands or even just basic websites, where I wasn't aware of this before.

Student

I think the most interesting thing I've learned so far is search engine marketing.  I believe that this tactic will be used more in the future as we approach more of a digital age.  Just recently, I had entire project on Google AdWords and had to create an entire campaign using this skill.  My teacher in this class (ADV 456) emphasized the importance of Google AdWords and said that it's the gateway to the future.  I believe that this knowledge will be extremely beneficial in the years to come, especially when I start searching for a job.

Student

I think that the most interesting thing that I have learned thus far is how positively social media can affect a business or organization. It is truly astonishing on how much social media affects people's decisions and everyday lives and I never realized it before this class. I know that the information that I learned will be used for my business in the near future because my business can be very quickly affected by bad word of mouth. But now that I know that people use social media when trying to make a purchase decision, I can have a strong internet outlook to people and potential consumers.

Student

The most interesting thing that ive learned this far in the course is how necessary it is to be an expert at social media if you want to resonate well with your customers and build an interactive and loyal constituency. I think that many smaller companies do not take advantage of the affordability or access to these social media platforms and it's hurting their business more than they realize.  I've definitely learned the value of social media and how to put it to use for a company to better them.  I am excited to take the information that ive gathered and apply it this summer at my marketing and digital advertising internship and hope to build the business!

Student

I think what I found most intersting was learning how to make your social media pages work for you. I'm on social media all of the time, as I am sure the majority of my generation is. It was interesting to see social media from a business and marketing aspect, instead of just a platform that I use to tweet or post pictures. I'm going into event planning and event managment so I am not sure how much of that I will be using day to day. But, in our field I wouldn't be surprised about having to use these skills at some point in my future.

Student

I've learned a lot so far this semester, most of which applies to my other classes.  Last week there was a guest speaker in one of my classes, who started his own business.  He talked about a variety of elements that helped him become successful such as creating a brand, search engine optimization, and social media advertising.  He said that creating your brand is the most important, since a strong brand leads to strong followers.  Also, he mentioned that once your business is up and running it is important to create keywords to use on your website that will attract additional customers through Google adwords.  This will help your business be more specific to people who are searching the web for products similar to yours.  Lastly, depending on the industry social media advertising does not do as much as you think.  For businesses such as restaurants, recommendations from friends or a good experince will do way more than social media advertising, even though it is still a good idea to advertise in these mediums.

Student

It is tough to narrow down the most interesting topic, since many, if not all, topics were interesting. The topics I am looking forward to using the most are inbound marketing and SEO. Both of these topics are very useful and interesting. I think many organizations have limited knowledge of digital marketing techniques and having this knowledge will be an asset for any new professional.

Student

The most interesting thing that I learned during this class was the use of our brands using inbound marketing. Of course I understood that traditional marketing is becoming less and less used because it's so known, and commonly disregarded by a lot of individuals. But learning more about inbound marketing made the whole concept make much more sense to me. As someone who has a blog, it was really cool to me to understand how brands use blogs to grasp their intended target audiences. A blog can get a brand name out there, but without forcing it down an individuals throats. Instead individuals stumble upon the blog posts according to their recent searches, interests, and wants.

Student

Prior to taking this class, I was passively engaged in the internet at best. Now, I am much more comfortable and aggressive in building my personal content to improve my professional career. Inbound Marketing has been the greatest asset in helping me build a larger customer base and improve my relations with current clients.   Selling without selling, by posting informative content and not applying pressure sales tactics, has helped me achieve positive results in a customer base that, by definition, hates talking to anyone associated with an auto dealership. Having a potential client come to me rather than the traditional "pestering", is far and away the most positive thing to happen to my career in years!

Student

I've learned a lot in this class but I would say the topic of inbound marketing has been most helpful. I have applied some of the tactics I've learned in class to my student job and have seen some great benefits. It shows how the things we learned apply to the current market.

Student

The most interesting I have leared from this course is mobile marketing. Nowadays, technology progress rapidly, people rely on mobile phone rather than other technology devices, so it makes mobile marketing have a large audiences, including me. I think I will using this knowledge in my career, it's necessary to use mobile in this era.

Student

I think that the most interesting thing that I have learned in class was how social media marketing can enhance a business. Social media is growing rapidly, and can be a gret way to market your brand/product. I can see myself using this knowledge in my career by understanding which social media outlets to use for depending on my target audience, and what kind of company I work for. I think it is important to understand how to use each outlet/platform effectively.

Student

The most interesting thing I've learned thus far in class was search advertising. I think search engine marketing (SEM) will continue to be a prominent advertising tactic in the digital age. This knowledge will be super useful in my career. After all, people are always "Googling" to get more information. Google is such a part of our everyday lives that I think it is important to better understand advertising on that platform to reach a large segment of your target audience.
