We've completed the first class and covered a wide range of potential new topics. Inbound marketing, social, search, content marketing, etc... We'll be taking a deeper dive into each of these digital marketing segments over the semester but we're curious what was the most interesting thing you learned on day one? Why did you find this interesting or relevant?

Considering that I'm not and Advertising, Journalism or Communitication major, alot of the information presented in day 1 of the class I found to be interesting. The most interesting thing that I learned was not just picking and platform but also having a execution stratefy. I found this to be relevent considering that I recently picked up the Public Relations minor and I am taking a class on PR strategy along with this class. How do companies implement digital marketing in times of crisis but also how do they implement those same platforms to promote new products or services they are offering? The first day of class provided me with key takaways when approaching companies and media platforms:

  • provide value
  • Be native
  • Give more than you ask for
  • Listen before responding

Its important to realize the campanies role in the larger part of society. What is the company offering the consumer beside another product to spend money on? How do they enhance or add value to the lives of their customers? The first day of classes made me think about those questions and what suggested steps companies should take in the future in enhancing their brand.

To be honest, I am an international student from South Korea and lived half of my life in both Korea and in the United States. On day one, I learned about so many different kinds of marketing and was shocked by the numbers of marketing. I only knew about media marketing but never knew what was inbound marketing. My goal, after graduating in university, is working in the marketing and advertising field in any country that interests me and learned about how international marketing is different from one country. Also, the way of handling marketing in the United States and South Korea was a little different. It became very interesting of how I should learn and adapt to the new ways of marketing and how I could change with my way of knowing marketing as well. 

In many different kinds of marketing, social, search, and content marketing interested me the most. As the society is moving fast globally. I think I need to know the current change and learning from this course. Almost everyone uses smart devices, such as smartphones, laptops, tablets and so much more. I believe content will be the most important source and factor in future advertising and also in marketing. This means that content is becoming more important and impactful to the marketing and advertising field as well. Each company has different styles and factors of advertising and marketing its own product to clients. By doing the first assignment, I really look forward to how my company correlates with the materials we covered in class.
