Linkedin Reaches Out to Students

LinkedIn is currently seen as a network for established professionals. While this perception allows LinkedIn to have targeted advertising it also limits its user base as students are chilled from signing up for the service. LinkedIn is now reaching out to students (like wonderful Michigan State University students) by opening up fields within its profile section.

How will Google Plus Impact SEO

SEO and SEM are in play when you think of Google+ and how it could impact search results for users. When people +1 an item on Google now, it can show up in your Google+ stream. It can also show up to your friends as a site that you like. What does it all mean?

Will the +1 metric really impact search rankings, or will it simply impact your network? How will Facebook Likes impact search ranking, and will Google even know if you Like a Facebook page since they don't have a close relationship with them?

Facebook shifts from personal to business - for me at least

Recently I trimmed my Facebook account from 1900 friends to about 400 friends. I debated closing my Facebook completely, but decided that I like the business functionality of it. This dramatic change has cleaned up my stream. Removed a bunch of noise. And really helped me manage what had become a messy account with too many connections.

Thoughts on Google+

Have you seen Google's new social network project - Google+? I am guessing some of you received invites and have tried it. Others need to look into it and see what it's all about. I'm curious what your thoughts are on it?
