Social Media and Your Professional Career

Although I signed up for a Klout account over a year ago, I never considered it anything more than a way for the web-addicted to boost their egos. I coincidentally read an article about Klout a couple weeks ago but shirked it off—what could it really matter? After entering this course, however, I realize that it actually means a lot more than that.

Professional social media development by using Klout

Klout Score

Klout is something that was very new to me before taking this course. I understand the Klout is used to measure your social media usage with a Klout score. The Klout score helps you gage how you can improve in areas of social media based on which sites you use. When I first logged into Klout I had a Score of 10. After a few days and increased activity on my social media accounts my Klout score has raised to 51.

How Your Klout Score Can Help Your Professional Career

Klout is a social media website that measures how effective people are when interacting with others on social media pages. It also measures how others on social media pages talk about you. Klout uses social media analytics to rank its users, with a number between 1-100. The higher the score, the more influence you have.

Accessible Student Sections

Positive Comments from Supporters

The tone of my Facebook page is conversational. One friend has already commented on the page about “awesome” it would be to have the student section of the MSU stadium accessible to all students. He also gave me some pointers on how I could accomplish this goal. I plan to thank him for his support, and advice on how to about doing this.

What Supporting Skills Should You Be Sharpening?

The web design community frequently discusses the need for a "T" shaped skill set. This refers to the idea that you have a broad base of skills (the top of the T) and a deep focus in a particular area (the stem of the T.) This is particularly important in web design because of the wide range of tasks a "web designer" might perform. For example, on a given day I might review proposals, meet with clients, document functionality, write code, design interactions or craft a brand identity.

Inbound Marketing Week

The week of June 2nd – June 6th 2014 marks Inbound Marketing Week. This is a legitimate global event, hosted by the inbound marketing god, Hubspot. Inbound and digital marketers from all over the world will gather in places like Chicago, Austin and London to talk about past inbound events, discuss the latest trends, and shape the future of inbound. Brilliant.

My blog will take me far and wide

What are my plans for my blog?

  • The core idea of Board places is that it shares a unique experience of longboarding in different places. If I’m lucky enough to build up a following, maybe other boarders will be inspired to do the same and a network of location based longboarding content will be available to view with just a few clicks.

Klout Does What??

My thoughts on Klout/ My Current Klout Score

Before taking this class, I had no idea that Klout existed. When future employers search for me on Google, hopefully my Klout will be one of the first profiles to appear. This way employers will not have to going searching Google for all my social media profiles, since Klout connects them all together in one place.
