Pin It to Win It

The Pinterest contests are a great way for brands to gain awareness and spread the word in a creative way. It allows Pinterest users to share a picture of a product of their brand, which will lead to their friends seeing the picture as well. There are many opportunities for the picture to be shared on other social networking sites as well. Pinterest contests also allow multiple businesses, anything from the Home and Garden industry to Universities, can take advantage of this special interaction with consumers.

Andreea Ayers gives businesses 9 Tips to Get More Out of Pinterest (with Pinterest Contests). Since Pinterest is the third most visited social media network, it has great potential for businesses to reach their target audience. Ayers gives readers nine tips and strategies to get more traffic, increase sales and find new customers from running a contest on Pinterest.

A few of the tips for businesses include determining your goals. Pinterest contests allow you to get new followers, increasing awareness of your brand, getting more traffic to your website, increasing your sales, getting publicity, launching a new product line, getting feedback for your next collection, establishing your expertise and more. With so many possible advantages it is important to set your objectives first in order to strategize a successful Pinterest contest.

Another tip is to pick your contest type. This will depend on your goals and should tailor specifically to what you want to get out of the project, such as increased brand awareness, more traffic to your website, or getting feedback for a new product line.

The final tip is to measure and track your results. This information will inform you if the contest was successful or not and whether you should do it again in the future. Did you meet the goals you created in the beginning? If so, the contest seems to have worked well for you. Now this gives you the option of adding Pinterest contests to your marketing plan.
