So this is the last blog post for the Spring 2014 #NMDL class. I call it Graduation Day, because I'm wondering if any of you have decided to go into a career in digital when you graduate. Shoot, these days you don't have much of a choice, it's all turning to digital.

So when you graduate, what do you plan to do? Where do you want to work (city/state)? And what type of agency or client side?

As I told you when I graduated I wanted to be a copywriter and do television commercials at a top agency. Oh, does anyone plan to go to Portfolio School?

If you are looking to get a job in digital, please shoot me a line. Ingenex is an inbound marketing agency and always looking for top talent. Especially if you are really into paid media, let me know.

I wish you all luck in your career. I hope you will go on to do great things and be sure to spread the love of Green and White wherever you go. Oh and be sure to add me on Linkedin in case I can help with you career. And join the Comm Arts Alumni Group on Linkedin too! Cheers :-)

Student

I am starting a position as a digital marketing coordinator with a firm in Lansing.  I have been interning with them for 2 years and cannot wait to get started.  I expect to learn and grow and make mistakes and learn some more! I wish the best of luck to you all.

Student

I graduate in May and have been offered a position as a Traffic Coordinator at Team Detroit.  I'm excited to start out in Traffic so that I can get a better understanding of what I want to do at an agency.  As of right now, I'm considering media planning or brand content alliances.  I would love to end up somewhere warmer than Michigan but for right now, I plan on living in the Royal Oak area.

Student

After graduation I plan to stay in Michigan for a couple years and earn public relations experience. After a couple years and moving up in the company, I will move out of the state and open my own PR agency. I want to grow my own company to one of the top firms in the region or country. After working within an agency, I know thats what I want to be in.

Student

After graduating I would like to stay in Michigan for a while, and really gain some great experience. I am really into digital marketing, and UX. I love creating web sites, and I'd like to do some work involving that, as well as mobile. Eventually I want to move out west to either California or Colorado. I wish the best of luck to you all!

Student

When I graduate this year, I want to move to California and work at an ad agency. While pursuing an account management job, I know that digital media is crucial to every company. Based on this class, I know that digital can make an impact on any strategy. I hope to use everything I learned in my job.

Student

Because I'm graduating in a few weeks with my Masters in Accounting and have a job lined up at an accounting firm, I don't really plan on specifically going into the digital world line of work.  However, I do think that I will use what I've learned in this class to help my firm and maybe take on a more client-relations type of role at the firm. I'll be moving to Chicago so I know that i will definitely find ways to make the digitally-related knowledge I've gained be incorporated into my professional life.

Student

Once I graduate in the spring of 2015, I plan to work on the agency side of public relations. I'd love to move south and work for an agency similar to Truscott Rossman. I will be interning there in the fall of 2015, and know I will learn a great deal of information that I could use for my future careers.

Ideally, I'd like to gain strong experience for the first few years out of college, go back to school and earn my masters and then start a business of my own.

Student

I recently attended the MSUAA trip to Chicago where we toured several agencies and learned more about the Advertising world after college. This was a very useful trip and provided insightful information on how to make it in the advertising world. I intend on pursuing Account Management with some involvement in creativity and I would like to apply for internships at these agencies in Chicago. I know it is an expensive city to live in, but I loved the atmosphere and feel of the work environment. I feel like the agencies we toured have excellent client lists that I am eager to take part in, but understand I will have to work my way up at first.

Student

When I graduate, I really want to get into international advertising. The way different cultures and nations advertise is interesting to me. However, I realize working internationally might be something I'd have to build up to, I wouldn't mind being in San Francisco, Chicago, or New York after I graduate. I recently had an interview with Pandora radio, and the idea of working with them after I graduate is really interesting as well, as I've been around music since I was very young. To be able to work with both music and advertising sounds really interesting to me.

Student

I graduate in December, but i beleive i will be moving to Virginia to work for a commercial lanscpae company.  I am very excited to start working a career, and i know i can take these digital marketing strategies with me.  If i do get a different offer i will entertain all my options and take the best choice for me.  I have never really considered a field in digital marketing, but after this class i will definitely consider it now.  Thank you for your time and help on this course it is going to help so much in the future i already know.

Student

I have one semester left at MSU, but when I graduate I can't say I'll be looking for a job in the field of digital media. Obviously, most careers these days will incorporate a good amount of digital aspects. My internship for the summer will more or less be me running my own business, so entrepreneuship has always seemed like a career option for me. I like Michigan a lot as I was raised here, but I also spent some time living in Colorado and love the west, so I wouldn't be opposed to moving that way.

Student

I learned a lot of stuff about new media. I am graduating in the fall 2013 with a degree in advertising management and media. After I graduate, I going to find a job back in china.

Student

I am only a junior right now so luckily I have some extra time to really decide what I want to do after college. Right now I'm leaning towards agency, I feel as if agencies have more room to be creative and I could have more input and importance as a young professional. However, I think the real deciding factor for me would be a PR job that gives me plenty of opportunity to travel. I know this is something I would enjoy and I think I would excel at it.

Thanks for the class! I enjoyed it and I'm still shock how quickly this year has gone by.

Student

I am graduating this spring, but I still have a few credits to take after I walk. I still have a little bit of time to fully decide where I want to go. Currently, I plan on staying in Michigan. I am currently interning at an entertainment company and work with booking shows and putting on concerts, and also deal with a lot of social media for those events. I would love to stay in the entertainment industry and use my knowledge of media in the field.

Graduation day:

If only that day were here today. The most important thing I've learned from this class is that you need to be able to take the key concepts of digital media and digital media strategies and apply it to any potential clients. Most importantly though I've learned that it isn't that hard. I have a great mind for creativity so this class has helped me to develop that mind set with use of digital media.

Student

Thank you for the good luck! I am graduating this May with a degree in advertising (management and media) and a specialization in public relations. Most of the jobs I have been applying to are in the Chicago or Detroit area. I'm hoping to work at either a public relations firm or at an advertising agency on the client services side. I'm not looking specifically in digitial work, but I would like to continue working with social media if I get the chance.

Student

I am a junior, and I plan to graduate in May 2015. I am a communication major in the sales specialization, so I plan to go into a career of sales when I graduate. I am still unsure what type of company I would like to work for, but I do think it would be cool to work in sales for a news station. I would like to get a job out of state in a big city, but I do not really have any preference.

Student

I am a junior and incredibly thankful that I have one year left here at MSU. I do however feel as if I am gradtauing sometimes becasue there is so much oressure to get an internship and to get a job now while still in college. I feel that if I don't get the perfect internship now it will later hinder my ability to get a job. So i do sometimes feel this crazy pressure as if I am graduating from school. I'm excited for next year and to keep learning while I'm here at school. Though I'm also incredibly excited to get a real agency job and work ina dvertising.

Student

I am a junior this year, so I have a little bit more time to fully decide what I want to do. I am on the creative side of advertising, but I don't know if I want to soley focus and create a career based upon that. I really want the experience of working for a large corporation where I can work with marketing communications and content management. I love making photos and webistes visually appealing so that customers want to explore the site and find what they are looking for. Great content is not only the words you put on the page, but the pictures you add to the words. I ultimately want to move to Chicago or New York and work for a company where I can learn different aspects of marketing and advertising. I think that once I gain more experience and really search for jobs, I will find what I love to do and make a career out of that.

Student

I'm a Junior here at MSU and graduation day is always something that is in the back of my mind. The thought of entering the "real world" scares me which is why i have started to begin interning this summer with Chrysler in Chicago. I'll be doing marketing there, also working with the sales side of everything. I would love to continue down the marketing field as i graduate but with maybe something i'm a little more interested in like fashion. I would also love to move out of this cold weather and work in Texas or California. Things change every day which is why you have to learn to role with the punches sometimes and you can't always plan accordingly. Though these are the things i hope to accomplish out of college, whatever happens, happens for a reason.

Student

Thankfully, I graduate this May and I'm looking foward to a career in digital all the way. I'm so happy that I stumbled upon this class while looking for an internship last summer. I want to go into social media management or a career that has social media heavily inolved with it. I'd like to work in a warm state, but I'm mostly interested in a place that I can have a great experience including a nice salary of course.

Student

As a junior already afraid of graduating college I am already starting to think about where I will be in a couple years. When I graduate I hope to work in the fashion industry. I would love to work somewhere in the city, either New York or Chicago for a big company or agency. I am interested in designing ads for an agency, but I would also love working on the client side of the company because I feel that I am good at communicating and interacting with people. If I didn't end up working in the fashion industry, I would love to work with Social Media in some new and upcoming idea. I think that Social Media is our future and being a part of that would be really interesting to watch how it effects people.

Student

I will be graduating from Michigan State next May, and to be honest, what is down the line for me as far as a career still gets me nervous! As a born and raised Michigander, I hope to move away and explore new places and people maybe down south or out west. I hope to have a career more focused on buying/media sales, and as digital media has become more and more prevelant in today's market, all the information and tools I have gained throughout this course will help me as I enter the advertising work force. I never realized how much goes into digital media and the importance it has on gaining customer loyalty and building brand awareness. This course has definitely allowed me to become more competent in all areas of new media.

Student

I will be graduating in May 2015. I do plan to begin a career in digital marketing or PR. I plan to move to Dallas and begin a career down there. I have learned a lot from this class and I did go into this class with the knowledge of how important digital marketing is today. This class just solidified my previous thoughts and taught me some new tricks. Thanks for everything!

Student

I will be graduating in a couple weeks from the MS in Accounting program at MSU. I will spend the summer trying to complete all four parts of the CPA exam, which will keep me very busy. In October, I will be starting full time work as a tax accountant in Raleigh, NC. This class has shown me how to develop a network of clients and peers to use as I go through my career.

Student

I will be graduating next May 2015, and to be honest, after taking this class, I have changed my mind on where I want my career plans to go.  Before taking this class, I truly never realized how heavily this market relies on digital media.  I have a whole new look on certain businesses that have a large presence on the Internet, and I have gotten more involved with companies that I like through social media now that I realize how much work goes into their digital media strategies.  I plan to go into a career that leans more toward media buying/media sales, but I hope that I can be involved in digital media in these types of careers because I have gained such a respect for this new media.

Student

I still have another year until I graduate , however I have still been keeping my future in mind. Being such a sports fanatic that I am, I would love a job in sports media, or media in general. Ive lived in Michigan my whole life and hope I will continue to post-graduation, however I understand great oppurtunites could come up anywhere in the country.

Student

I am graduating this coming May. I will be working in Southfield, Michigan. I will become a client representative in June for J.P. Morgan Chase & Co. I will be working in their commercial banking department and working with clients whose annual revenue will range from $25-$500 million. This is considered to be middle market. I will be also getting my MBA while I continue to work. After my two year contract is up I hope to eventually move to either Chicago or New York City and continue to work for JPMC.

Student

When i graduate I eventually plan to live in Atlanta,GA and work on establishing my music and film company, Paid-Da-Co$t,LLC. I plan on infusing all of the different tools I learned in this course to help my company become as popular and profitable as possible. I plan on establishing my own agency and handling high end clients.

Student

I am so ready to graduate! I am looking into starting grad school in December for Enviornmental Education. My dream job would be to work on campaigns and do Public Relations for an Enviornmental Organization. While the world is changing into a digital one, it is also turning into a wreck! We need to work harder to keep the Earth healthy. I want to use my social media skills to spread the word of the world's enviornmental issues and inform people what they can do to help out.

Student

As graduation is quickly sneaking upon me, it is crazy to think that I have spent almost 1/4th of my life in the beautiful city of East Lansing.  Upon graduation I will spend my summer tackling 3 parts of the CPA exam, which I have yet to take. Come October I will be starting my new career as a Business Tax Services at Deloitte, a world-wide accounting firm, in Detroit, MI.  Although accounting does not have anything to do with digital marketing or advertising, I plan on using the skills I learned in this course in the future as I one day hope to start some type of accounting firm or business of my own.

Student

It's hard to believe we're quickly approaching graduation from Michigan State! I'm very excited to start this new chapter and am hoping to stay within Michigan. I'm most interested in the account services side of advertising that will involve pitching presentations and campaigns and interacting with the client. I'm hoping to work at either an automotive ad agency or a rep firm gaining experience in cable advertising sales. The interviewing process is going well, so hopefully my plan is official in the next few weeks!

Student

When I graduate I want to work for the AdCouncil. I am really interested in spreading good and motivational messages. After gaining experience I would like to start my company and even create entertaining videos on YouTube. This class has helped me understand how important social media is becoming and how to utilize it.

Student

As far as graduation goes, in May after we all say our goodbyes I plan to start putting my house up for sale in East Lansing, and then work on my media buying business I started out of Grand Rapids for the summer. I plan to take this company with me on my move to Pensacola, FL and work from the office in Florida to work with small businesses around the country producing and doing media buys. I have applied to a few marketing and PR firms down near northern Florida where my fiance lives. I hope to get a job with a company and work hard in an entry level job and being trained to do professional sales and ad work with a company and get good experience to then later expand my company on my own.

Student

As much as it doesn't feel like it with my current workload, I am a graduating senior from the Professional Writing program. I'm planning on taking some time off and recover from being burned out before I start the full-time career pursuit, possibly to travel and indulge myself in activities I haven't had the time to do while in school. Ideally I could see myself in either book publishing or magazine publishing, but I'm open to other pathways (I applied for an internship in radio recently) both in location and for my job. My ultimate goal is to become a multimodal writer and an editor who can work in any genre.

Student

This class helped me understand the importance of social media in various ways. I had always thought that social media would be an important way of communication. However, it was difficult for me to pay attention to social media that I was not used to. I was only stick to several social media and I considered myself as social media person. During this class, I learned that I had missed various beneficial aspects of social media and had thought of social media as easy task to learn and do. Social media have developed not only in entertaining way but also beneficial ways such as job searching. I totally didn’t understand beneficial aspect before this class. It is not mandatory to use social media however it can give us competitive power compared to those who are not using it.

Student

Although I'm in denial about graduation, it is happening in 3 weeks and I am beyond scared. It's something about the uncertainty of the future that makes me nervous. I've applied to 29 different agencies around the country right now and I actually just had an interview with Lowe Campbell Ewald for a job in New York City last week. I'll be hearing back from them this week so I've got my fingers crossed! I love working at advertising agencies (I've worked at 2 so far)...the environment is great and I can see myself being in them for the long haul. Right now I have a lot of digital experience wtih CPG accounts so i hope to do something with that.

Student

I am graduating next spring with a degree in Advertising and Specialization in Sales. I would really like to start working for a large Advertising or Marketing firm to get a feel for how things are in a big setting. If I dont like that then I am thinking about trying out a smaller firm to see if that a better fit. I would like to live someplace warm all year round. I have heard really good things about Tennessee and the Carolina's, I would love to live there. But right now while I am starting out I am thinking about living in either Grand Rapids or somewhere over in the Royal Oak, Detroit area. Lots of advertising and marketing firms over that way. My dream job would to be to Event Marketing for a Detroit Sports team, preferably the Lions or Tigers. I really enjoyed this class and I definitly think the tools and tactics I learned will not only help me with further advertising classes but also my internship this summer and my job in the future.

Student

When I graduate in May of 2015, I plan on getting a job in an advertising agency. I am majoring in Advertising Management because I enjoy interacting with people. After taking this course, I realized how pretty much everything is going to digital. If your company is not virtual, it doesn't stand a chance in today's world. By taking this course, I learned all the behind the scenes of inbound marketing and I have to say, it was quite interesting. I never realized how much work truly goes into it.

Student

Unfortunately I am not going into advertising.  However I am positive I will use many of the skills I've learned in this class.  I am in the Accounting Masters Program and am currently signed with EY in Chicago.  Many of the ways we connect with each other are through different forms of social media and I plan to shift more into recruiting as I continue to work for the firm.  Knowing the different ways to reach certain target markets will be very useful in the future.  Thanks!

Student

I will be graduating in May with my Masters in Accounting. After graduation, I will be working for a public accounting firm, Ernst & Young in Detroit in the Advisory practice. This class was very enjoyable for me because it was very different from the 'plain-text' life of accounting. I enjoyed the ability to be creative in this class.

Student

I have to say that I have learn a lot of new concepts in this class. I used to think there are not much technique to learn regarding Internet Marketing. After taking this class, I realized that tons of new concepts are developing everyday. I will use these concepts I learned during class toward PR and B2B campaigns in the future.

Student

After gradudation I plan to get a job with environmental communication. With that being said it will most likely have to with digital marketing and communcation. Even if I don't persue the environmental aspect of the communcation world I plan on doing something that invovles social media and the digital platform. I just want a job that I have fun doing and working with social media and with digital marketing will be perfect for me.

Student

When I graduate I plan to work for a company in their advertising management and agency hiring devision. Imedietly after I graduate college I plan to fina a temporary (if it is not good) job in the East Lansing/Ann Arbor area. After that I will go wherever there is job oportunities.

Student

Sadly I will be leaving East Lansing in May.  I will be wrapping up my Masters in Accounting, after an awesome five years.  I am studying for the CPA right now, and will be taking my third test very soon, with a four scheduled in May.  I will be working for a public accounting firm, Plante & Moran, in Traverse City, MI.  I start in August so I look forward to some time off in June and July. This was my first, and only, advertising class that I took.  I really enjoyed learning about the different types of social media and how to use them effectively to build your own brand.

Student

I still have another year until I graduate, so right now I am looking into internships. There is a limit on the amount of job opportunities available, so at this time I am unsure what type of job I will be looking for after graduation. I currently have an internship in the digital field and will also have another internship this summer in the digital field and believe this class has helped me gain more skills and knowledge about the digital world.

Student

When I'm ready to open the page to join the discussion about digital world, I guess that there would be sort of saying goodbye in the end of article, but definitly not in this way. I can't believe this day comes such peacefully. It's exciting that I'm really into digital through this course; I was interested in digital innovations, but I can't be so passion about digital without this course.

Student

My last semester has been really busy, but great.  I think I have grown up a lot since I came to MSU, and now it's time for me to contribute my abilities into real world. I really wish to start my career in U.S., so I am trying to look for jobs. I want to start my career with something that is related to public relations, but advertising field still works for me. I used to think social media do not have much relationship with public relations, but now I know social media is a big part of public relations. So, I am still going to learn more about social media and digital PR even after I graduate. Thanks for having me this semester and I hope to see you soon again.

Student

This has been one of the fastest semesters of my college career.  It seems like yesterday I was waking up early on a Saturday to attend our first all-day session at Walsh.  I am currently a junior and still am not for sure what I want to do after I graduate.  I plan on following my interests and seeing where life takes me, all I can do until then is be prepared and take every opportunity presented to me.  I love the state we live in!  I would be happy living in Michigan once I graduate, but it has always been my dream to live on the east coast in Boston, or different New England town.  Thank you to all of the professors of this course.  I have learned a lot about every subject we have covered.  I am excited for what the future will bring!

Student

Dear Mr. Mehraban:

Time flies and we already reach the end of the smester. This feels so unreal!

I truly glad that i have took this class and i feel like i have learnt a lot.

Some knowledge that i have never known before, such as, search engine optimization, Adwords, blogging tactics, inbound marketing and digital strategies, etc.

I feel like i am really pumped up with knowledge, whcih will help me for along with the rest of my life, whether where i go, whether in daily life or business career.

Indeed, technology keeps developing rapidly every year, but the fundamental will remain the same. Be strategic, be insightful, be creative. And work with integrity and passion. I believe that i will eventually acheive the goal of my life.
