I created a LinkedIn about 4 ago and have had multiple business professionals connect with me. It has been great I have had found a possible internship opportunity. I'm so glad we created this in class and forced me to finally do this. It has been awesome and I can not wait to connect with more people and hopefully land a job and or internship through this great website.
I created my LinkedIn about three years ago and I am so proud of what I have. I hate bragging but I have an expert level and for the very few accomplishments I have, they stand out and have helped me land two internships. I have learned how imperative it is to articulate who you are in the most professional and authentic way.
Each week I am starting to like Linkedin a little bit more. As I have been adding more coonections, my name has been appearing in job searches and it is allowing me to really look into positions available in the education field. I am learnign about new non profits that I previously hadn't looked into and I'm seeing that I do qualify and there may be postions available coming up later next summer when I start looking into new employment options. I still am hesitiant about my personal information showing up, you know the world these days. I wish linkedin had a privacy feature like facebook where only people I have connected with can see certain specifics, I would feel safer that way.
I created my LinkedIn last year and immediately began adding people to my network. I consider it a living resume that I can constantly update and improve upon. I find a lot of great opportunities through the job reccomendations and I definitely consider it a great source for job searching. I will be using it in my search post grad, no doubt.
I have used linkedin since I was a freshman in college. I think it is a great social media outlet to show your resume and accomplishments. I have used linkedin to apply to jobs, network with people in the industry I am in, and to occasionly read an ifformative article. An impressive resume is always a good way to get the job you applied for, but if a company can put a face to your name you might have a better chance. I will continue using linkedin and keep routinely updating it when necessary.
I never use Linkedin before it was totally strange for me, but after this assignment I find that Linkedin is a great help for me. I want to find a job in America after graduating, it is a little hard for an international student to find a job here. Linkedin provides a platform for me to build my network, networking is really important to everyone trying to find a job. Also, Linkedin provides a way to think about my own strength, what I can tell the interviewer about myself.
I first made my Linkedin account my freshman year of college because part of our grade for the class was to have one. Since then, I've never really used it. I have my whole profile and things filled out to All-Star status, but have never posted anything on there before. I don't feel like I have much use for it right now but maybe when I start my professional career, it might come in handy.
I honestly haven't used my LinkedIn a whole lot. But I hope to in the future, and I found that getting connections was very easy, I went from 20 to 60 in about a week by just adding the people I already know through other networks and email. I know many people who have made great connections and gotten jobs through LinkedIn so I am hopeful that I will do the same eventually. I also noticed they are now connected to Vimeo which will be a great way for my to add video content to my demo real on the site. It is easy to use and helpful in a lot of ways, I hope to gain a better understanding and insight on the best ways to utilize it through this class. (Comment for lesson 6)
I've had a LinkedIn account for a few years but barely used it. Previously, I was a bartender and really didn't have much use for it. Now that I'm running a business with my father I can really see the benefits of keeping my LinkedIn profile up to date. I'm a big fan of Linkedin. I'm at a point in my life where I get pretty excited if I get a Linkedin notifcation, because I view it as one more tiny little thing that might help me get a job. I'm a little shocked when I find out someone doesn't have a Linkedin. I can definitely see a positve correpation between someone not having a Linkedin and them being a scrub.
I've enjoyed having a LinkedIn for the past three years, and it works as a wonderful networking and resources tool. It's a great way to keep up with the business world, what other companies, or your friends or network connections are up to as well. I routinely try to add something new to my LinkedIn, maybe not weekly, but bi weekly or monthly, especially when job hunting to freshen things up.
I've had a LinkedIn for about three years now and I do a pretty good job of regularly working on my page. This includes adding followers to increase my network, further elaborating on experience, liking and commenting on other's posts, and performing SEO work on my page. As of today I have 378 followers and I try to gain about 3-5 per week on average. All things considered, I think having a LinkedIn page is essential if you want to be taken seriously as a professional, and while it's not impossible to be a professional without one, I believe it gives you a great leg-up against the competition, especially those who aren't on LinkedIn.
I have had a Linkedin for about a year and was about half way through the process of getting to "All Star". This project helped motivate me to gain more connections and to finish my profile. It also provided me a chance to go through and to improve some areas that were lacking information.
I have had my LinkedIn for about 3 years but had neglected the upkeep of my profile. Being a business student, LinkedIn is really important for me because it's basically unheard of for a business professional to not have one. I used LinkedIn to stay up to date on recent news of companies and leaders I follow. It is also a great way to stay in touch with coworkers and mentors.
I'm almost embrassed to say it took me this long to make a linked in account. But after doing so, I see the numerous benefits it offers to young, hopeful, business oriented adults in terms of connections and networking. I've recently connected with so many people, new and old with specific passions and goals looking to accomplish all of these incredible things. And its helpful to know you have resources for all of these different areas at your disposal. Msu grads all over the globe and I now have a helpful and easy way to make new networks in an effort to advance my own goals. I really should have done this a lot sooner.
LinkedIn is a great professional tool where you get to connect with friends, potential employers and build your professional brand. Once you add more connections, other potential connections appear so it's a big network. I have found the more I add to my profile the better it looks and more people view my profile which is exciting. Thank you for all the helpful tips and tricks on making an All-Star profile. I'm really glad I took this course because I got to enhance my LinkedIn profile and make it stand-out.
I have been on LinkedIn for about a year now and ahve noticed how important it has been in my professional life. Applying for internships this past summer, I have noticed that interviewers and other business professionals have viewed my page and have looked at my relevant information and then have used that information in my interview questions. For example, I am proficient in Adobe InDesign and Photoshop and my interviewer for a intern position this past summer asked me what specifically i knew how to do on both of these softwares. Its been extremely valuable to me to also do my professional research on the people interviewing me as well. I have been able to look up these specific people and prepare follow up questions after my interview and ask them their perspecitive and advice on how their careers have unfolded! LinkedIn is the Facebook for working professionals and I think I am becoming a little bit obsessed.
I'm new to LinkedIn and I'm glad that this class provides the help just on time. It is very convenient to build my profile and the connecting function create a platform to let other people in the industry know me. And I like LinkedIn because it is being used worldwide and that gives more opportunities to international students. It is interesting that a strategic planner I connected to few days ago just sent me a message to correct a typo on my profile.
I just made my LinkedIn. The most intereting thing I found is many talent people on the LindeIn. It is such a bid human resource market. And I am curious that If I am a boss. I want to find some people to join my company through Linkedin. How can I distinguish whether their information is real or fake? This question came out when I was filled in my information. I think Linkedin is more like a business information communicaiton website that there may have liers.
I am very grateful that this class has introduced me to LinkedIn and how to make a great profile. I have heard of LinkedIn before this class and have navigated the website a little bit but I never knew what exactly the point of the platform was or how it was used. I also never realized how many of my friends and people that I know use this social media platform too. LinkedIn is a great social media platform to expand your social network and it gives you a chance to put your foot in the door and take advantage of business opportunities. I also like how LinkedIn provides a lot of great business information and information that you are interested in. I am very happy that I am familiar with LinkedIn and hopefully creating a well-rounded profile will help give me an opportunity in the business world one day.
Personaly, I never really got into the LinkedIn social media like I did for Facebook, Instagram, and Snapchat. I had created a profile a few years ago becasue everyone was joining LinkedIn but havent finished it untill recently. I feel like that is how most of my generation did it, set it up, but then forgot about it. I think now would be a good time to start keeping up on it. It is a great way to connect with colleges on a proffesional level rather than social media as society see it, ranty facebook posts about another, and funny memes of office drama.
I have had a Linkedin profile for a few years now, but had no idea how important it was to have a strong and descriptive profile. Over the past few months, I've connected with co-workers and updated my positions, but never really saw everything the website had to offer. Scrolling through my news feed, I can find new job openings as well as articles on how to improve the quality of our work environments. I'll definitely be utilizing this website more often.
It's the first time I use the LinkedIn and it's really useful for me, as well as for everybody. I filled up all the information, such as education background, working experience and so on, and I got ALL Star profile for my LinkedIn. I am so excited that I have LinkedIn right now because lots of people will see my profile on the internet and get interested to me. In this way, I can show my personalities and skills to everyone and get some internships in the future.
I am really glad I took this course. I have put off actually updating my LinkedIn since 2014 and it was about time I resurrected mine. Thank you for making us do this because it is something that will be very helpful in the future. Also, thank you for all the tips! They are very helpful.
I really appreciated the information about creating a professional LinkedIn profile. By reading it, I got a better understanding on how to effectively write a detailed summary about my professionalism. There were also some really important points highlighted which I will consider to do as I build my LinkedIn profile, whereas other points served as simple reminders in order to maintain professionalism. These included: giving endorsements, sharing articles or blogs, spending between 30 minutes to one hour a week updating my LinkedIn profile, asking people who I am currently connected with on LinkedIn for additional connections, and avoiding political and controversial posts on LinkedIn.
My activity on LinkedIn thus far was really relatable to some of the important points I mentioned above. I was really glad to read the importance of spending time updating your LinkedIn profile, because it is something I do on a pretty frequent basis. Until I found out about the importance of including a detailed summary on my LinkedIn profile through this assignment, I could not figure out what to include and thought of it as writing a simple sentence, like an objective on a resume. Before this assignment, I did not do much of reaching out to my current connections to ask for new connections because I focused solely on the idea of enhancing my professionalism through my current professional network; specifically, since most of my connections were my friends and recruiters at job fairs.
Throughout this assignment and my current use on LinkedIn, I really enjoy using it and consider it to be a great platform for networking.
I created my LinkedIn profile when I was a freshman at MSU. I had previously had several jobs, and I knew that in the Advertising industry, a LinkedIn was important for networking. LinkedIn has helped me tremendously when it comes to connecting with seasoned professionals in the industry, previous employers, as well as following influencers with relevant content. A good LinkedIn profile should showcase your skills, job experience, and be a clear example of why someone should hire you.
When I started as a freshman here, I remember some of my friends who were a little older were starting to make their LinkedIn profiles and told me I should do the same and connect with them. I had heard about it and knew it was important to eventually make one but never got around to it until this class. As I will begin to look for internships this upcoming summer, I was planning on making my LinkedIn profile this fall anyways, but this class definitely helped out with the process. These are all really good tips and I look forward to adding more to my profile within the near future.
This is my first time using LinkedIn, and the biggest difference I think is that LinkedIn is much more professional comparing to other social media platforms like Instagram and Facebook. It feels good when people starting to accept my invitation to connect, and I'm surprised that I'm having over 100 connects on my account by now. I will try to add more information and to enrich my profile later on, and hopefully there will be more and more people from different fields that I could get to know them through my LinkedIn.
I created my linked in just last year when I was starting to apply to summer internships for 2017. As my profile grew I started to meet people and connect with them. Connect with everyone! You never know what sort of connections someone may have that can possibly help you in the future. As time has progressed I have really focused on building my linked in. Its almost like a virtual resume! I really enjoy connecting with those who I have worked with in the past and currently and I cant wait to see how LinkedIn can really help in the future!
I've been created a LinkedIn account when I was freshmen, but I did not use much during these years until I take this class which makes me start to edit my LinkedIn profile. According to this process, I realize that LinkedIn can be really helpful to find a job for students, it also can use to build up a professional career social net. It also can remind me to do more things to increase my experiences in order to find a better job when I am graduate.
LinkedIn provides a platform for people to connect with the business. I had a account for a long time but never used it before. After this class, I found some useful functions of LinkedIn. To get start, just add something important and interesting about yourself and search keywords to find others. Fill the education and work information will help a lot to find familiar people or get opportunities of jobs. Make sure that your portfolio is beautiful and valuable so that others can find you easier. As mentioned, LinkedIn is a serious platform, so keep professional and credible is necessary.
This is my first time use Linkedin, I think it is very convenience. I was has a resume, I won't do real-time update. But if I use Linkedin, I will prefer update my expercience regularity. I like the profile interface design, very detail and clear. I also can connect my friend on the platform that when I saw some great expercience, I can trying to do it.
Last summer I want find a marketing intern. I did some serch on internet, I found Linkedin is an interesting website. You can upload your ruseum on your page, and apply job online. Many kinds of company post their job recruitment on the website, the application process is very easy. I like this Linkedin.
It’s my first time to get in touch with LinkedIn. It’s a good way to find the opportunities for a job or an interview after graduation. I think it’s really helpful, Especially for me, who will graduate in summer. LinkedIn can help people to know your work experiences, education and even the skills. And it’s also can be used in China, which is good for our international students. I think it’s a great platform that we can start to build and brand ourselves.
Thank you for the tips! It is actually my first time to create an account other than facebook and Instagram. I never know the site like LinkedIn which people write their profile to find a job. It is worth and helpful to have an assignment directly related to understand the new social platform and also make a connect with diversity of people.
I made my LinkedIn freshman year fo a Business 101 class. One of our assignments was to make a LinkedIn profile if we hadn't already. I had never used it or even thought about it until that point. I only really started updating it and making it better this year. I can already see how it is a useful social media network to expose you into the business world and job searching. I like how it allows you to filter and search by so many different factors. I think I will definitely continue to utilize this over the next few years as I look for resume builders and internships.
LinkedIn is a fantastic way to network and get your name out there. I made my profile last year and have been continuously updating it until now. I'm glad we had this as an assignment because I did not want to update the summary portion of my profile but this made me do it. I enjoy reading the articles on the website as well because it keeps me up to date on whats going on in the advertising/sales world.
I had to make a LinkedIn account for another class so I knew of the site but I was not very familiar. This assignment forced me to understand and get comfortable with the platform. Now that I know more about it, I think that LinkedIn is a great resource and can be used by everyone. It is a huge network that can connect you and help you land jobs. I am glad we had an assignment that made me make my profile great.
I think Linkedin is changing the game. I think it will help people who are looking for a job to look for motivations, and different paths other people in your industry took. There are always interesting stories and always ways to find a job that are recommended for you. Its a great new social media and I believe its a platform that students can start branding themselves early.
Hey Mitch! I think you had an awesome post and I completely agree with your point on the networking outside of your immediate circle. I've found that even with putting Michigan State University in my bio people have been connecting with me and messaging me about wanting to help in my futuure job search! I think LinkedIn offers people of our generation the connectionst that have never existed before! Great Post!
LinkedIn is a good way to start and keep connections while gaining and sharing new skills. Its important to have a profile because recruiters sometimes use it to contact you. The better your profile, the more likely you are to be found by others in your field, so you might as well take advantage of the free platform. I definitely approve of all the tips on how to improve your LinkedIn results, especially avoiding political posts! LinkedIn is also a great way to stay updated on news in your industry if you use it often enough.
Ahhh, LinkedIn, the social media tool used for business. I am very grateful for this class because it helped me devlop my LinkedIn in a new light. I was able to actually put time and effort into it, which I was not planning on doing until post graduation. It still needs some work however, the tips provided above are very useful. Moreover, I realzied I needed 50+ connections and began to panic until I realzied I have a multitude of social media platforms with users already established on the site. Glad to say I made it to 50 connections.
Linkedin was always something I had created, but never put much effort or time into in. These tips definatly helped get me going in the right direction. Talking about myself is something that i have a hard time with so creating these sorts of profiles is very difficult. Ive always known the importance of Linkedin, but i guess i was just too lazy to start it, this has given me some insights into how i should be managing my account.
I've been search for a job so my Linkedin profile was almost already complete, however this lesson was very helpful to me when it came to writting my summary. I had been struggling with what to put there for a while and just kept pushing it off, but this helped me complete it.
As a Chinese, this is my first time to use the website of LinkedIn. From the LinkedIn, I can connect various types of business man and different companies. Firstly, I built my LinkedIn profile, and add my skills, positions, background into my file. Indeed, it is a great place to tell your story and show the best of myself. Then, I invite and connect with my friends and some strangers, I realized their stories and background. On the other hand, I acquired lots of resources and information from it, which are useful for me. In a word, this social media can improve my own network.
I initially started my LinkedIn profile as a part of a social media marketing project. We had to create a fake business, and then create an online presence for the business on each main platform (Wordpress, Facebook, and Twitter). We also had to create a personal LinkedIn account, so that we could post into a group discussion about our business. After the project was over, I realized that having a complete LinkedIn account could help with connecting to employers and finding jobs/internships, so I updated it and started attempting to connect with people I knew. Now, I am constantly checking my LinkedIn, as I have acquired an internship with its help, and want to eventually find a full-time professional job. I am updating it regularly with the most up-to-date information on my education and job positions. On top of this, I also manage a LinkedIn page for my internship's company.
It was really interesting to read about how you first got involved with LinkedIn and that you continue to use it. It is so cool that you manage a LinkedIn page for your Internship company. How long have you been affiliated with it?
Also, when you mentioned why you initially created a LinkedIn profile, I had exactly the same reason.
I assume the project was for MI 301: Bringing Media to Market. Did you have Prof. Coursaris as your instructor?
He was a really great instructor when I took the course two Summer semesters ago.
LinkedIn is a very good social media platform. It is different from with Facebook and Instagram. Because Facebook just lets you make a lot of friends and look up some news. And LinkedIn is more focused on the workplace and allows you to connect with companies at the website. This lesson gives me a better understanding of LinkedIn and I will use it for a long time.
LinkedIn is a very useful tool for young people to find jobs. I get alerted to all kinds of jobs that I may be interested in, and I will be using that feature once I graduate. It also helps keep me in touch with some of my former coworkers, as I can see when their job changes or if they get a promotion. This can help me use my connection to them to get a job at their new company or to be their replacement at their former job once they move up. I check LinkedIn every day, and it is a tool I will continue to take advantage of until I retire.
