There are some fokls who use Linkedin for this purpose, and that's up to them. But when you are trying to build a career, you may not want to. Unless you are going into politics, then have at it.

Comments & Feedback
I had heard of LinkedIn before and always put off checking it out/making a profile. I can honestly say I have thoroughly enjoyed building my online portfolio. There are endless possibilities for networking on the digital web and this is a good professional way to do so! And if you haven't connected with me YET.. be sure to do so!
My first experience with LinkedIn was in this class. I never knew how essential it was in helping your career and connecting you with employers. It's a good way to connect with people as well. I've had a good first experience with this new social platform, even though I've had to start from scratch with my profile. I really enjoyed this chance to make my LinkedIn the most appealing it can be to employers
I've had a great time building my Linkedin for this class. It gives you the same social media rush that other platforms do (when you gain new connections or profile views) but it's actually beneficial to you professionally. I hadn't really used Linkedin at all before this class. I had a profile with no photo, just my name and school on it. I can honestly say that I am proud of my profile now and actually enjoy checking my account.
LinkedIn a very useful networking tool. It allows you to make connections with individuals across a variety of different occupations and gives you access to information in a format that is easier than ever before. Using LinkedIn allows you to represent yourself through a social media platform in a professional way and gives people the opportunity to see what you are doing in your life, your skills, and your accomplishments just by a single page view. It is a chance to brand yourself and I'm very glad that I have a LinkedIn to help in furthering my career. I am also really grateful for this class to teach me how to be successful in this new digital media age. I have already learned so much already and look forward to learning more!
When I first joined LinkedIn I was unsure of how much I would use it. Until this course requiring me to really spend time on it I rarely found the time to update it or connect with people, let alone what was important to include. However, now that I have connected with more people and learned important things to include on your profile I have enjoyed the process of building it. Theres a sense of accomplishment and pride getting to share all the experiences you've had that helped me develop skills during my undergraduate career. I look forward to continue connecting with others and building my profile to make it presentable to future employers.
LinkedIn is a very useful tool for the students in college who seek for a job. You can not only show your own ability and skills but also can build a connection with those sucessful enterprizers. By following them in LinkedIn, people could also learn a lot.
However, it is a pity that LinksdIn is not popular in my homeland. Most of my friends in my home university have never heard about that. And unfortuantely, there is no alternative of LinkedIn there. So we still use the traditional way which is really not convienient to find a job. When I persuade them to apply an account, they found that it is really worthwhile. So I hope LinkedIn can consider about popularizing itself in China.
LinkedIn is a great resource for students in the modern age. It has really helped me stay connected with my friends, former teachers/professors, interviewers, and peers on a unique level. While I may be connected to some of these same people on other social networking sites such as Facebook, it's not really appropriate to network for one's career on those more personal platforms. LinkedIn is a professional network and can be quite addicting to young adults just starting their careers and graduating college. It's easy to become obsessed over the way you are presented online and spend a large amount of time perfecting your profile to be sure you're not overlooked by an employer. I sometimes find myself guilty of this!
I've been on LinkedIn for a few years now. I am mainly using it for job searches. I have been late in the game the past fee years ok trying to secure internships, so I'm using it to help secure the best ones. It also helps me do research on the companies that I am applying for to make sure that I am getting the best options.
I have used LinkedIn for a couple of years now because my friend Amani got her first supply chain management internship through LinkendIn and her current job as a area manager for Amazon within the supply chain aspect. In my JRN 402 class we earned badges for adding new things to our LinkedIn profile to make it more complete similar to the tips given above and the directions for the First Half of the Exam to reach an All Star profile.
Linkedin has its specific professions on careers social medias for people to seperate work and personal connections with society. I just started use it a couple days ago for assignment, but I found that it is really helpful to contact someone who has different working experience to share in a easier way.
This class has helped me become more prepared for my future after I graduate. Compared to many classes I have taken at this University, this class has been very straight forward about what I need to put on my resume or classes I can take to continue my schooling. The midterm is a perfect representation of this. Requesting students to create a LinkedIn is a great way to prepare students for the future.
I did not know there are more social media such as facebook or instagram before taking this course. Using Linkedin, I am getting several kinds of information about advertising and how many people are trying to get a job or intership by using this social media. Therefore, this is very helpful to me.
There are very good tips, I use them to enhance my profile and it looks way better now. I do not have too many skills, but this blog reminds me that it is not too late to get some now. I feel like adding some article or sharing the good articles to LinkedIn is a pretty good idea because it can let people know you better.
I think that self-direct learning is very important for people because people would develop their special insights into the self-direct learning. In addition, self-direct learning is a way of the requirement of independent thinking. As for me, the long-time self-direct learning I made is the reading of paper books as well as the online articles. I think that the profound thought must base on enough knowledge. Reading books is the fundamental and easy thing for later sagacity. Moreover, there are many interesting and insightful information in the online world. At the same time, the information in online world would make me connect with others and develop more ideas. After reading the paper books, I also find others’ useful opinion of the book. In this way, I open my mind and gain more knowledge. I believe that the information would benefit me not only for my later study but also for my whole life.
Thank you so much for the tips! I will be sure to use them in order to enhance my profile. This will be even more useful then normal due to the fact that I am currently looking for an internship. LinkedIn is an incredibly useful tool when looking for jobs and internships.
Thank you for the helpful tips!
I only had a profile picture on my LinkedIn and now from these tips and this class, I created the All Star level on it. I am glad I had this class to push me to create it. I can now see that it is a great way to network with many people and help me with my career! I hope this will help me to get an internship for 2018 summer.
Thank you so much for all of these tips and tricks. I will utitlize them seeing as how I have never used linkedin before it is very much a foreign area of the internet for me. Really see the potential of it's use from a pressional stadnpoint and I think I will continue to use it long after this class is over. Thanks again!
Thank you for the tips! I have never used LinkedIn before; it was one of those "put off for a later date" situations. However, I am very glad that this was one of our assignmets because it gave me a little push to do it. Despite how long it took me to create my account, I think that it is a very important tool in the professional world. Now that we are moving deeper into the age of technology, it is becoming more of a "who you know" job set. Because of this, it is crucial to make connections and network yourself early on in order to make those connections stronger and get your foot in a door that may have been closed. As of now, I have only connected with friends, family, and teachers, but I am very excited to exapand more into the professional world. Go White.
All these tips were very helpful when creating my LinkedIn account. I created this account not only for this class but to expand my profile as a potential business professional after college. With connections being a huge part of landing a job in business, getting connections through social media is just one step closer to that connection. I plan to keep my LinkedIn updated almost daily to make it set apart from others (my competition).
I consider myself a seasoned LinkedIn user. I have had it for about three years now and have really made it something I take pride in. With that being said, I have never actually made a summary about myself. I think it has something to do wiht talking myself up on a public website, where I just don't feel comfortable. However, this assignment forced me to do it and I am glad that I did. I now have a quick statement to show the potential employer or coworker who I am and what I am about.
Thanks for these tips! I've had my LinkedIn since freshman year but never taken the time to add a summary. This assignment pushed me to think about my career goals and articulate them in a concise yet detailed manner.
These tips are great to know! I had no idea I should be giving endorsements. I created a LinkedIn last year and try to update in frequently in order to keep it up-to-date and consistent with my resume. It's a great way to network with others and discover/impress employers. I think I would benefit from exploring the platform a bit more because I'm not completely familiar with all of the features LinkedIn offers. Hopefully I'll be able to use my LinkedIn to help find an internship next summer!
Thanks for the tips! Honestly, I've been told several times at the end of high school and throughout college that I should start a LinkedIn account, but I always put it aside. Now I see the potential that it has! It reminds me of creating a resume. I can't believe people have 500+ connections! I am assuming those who have all those connections always check into LinkedIn and keep themselves updated on the website to become so popular. I'm still trying to get familiar with the site and how it all works, hopefully I'll become an expert soon. ;)
Thanks for these tips. I have never used LinkedIn before taking this class, totally new to it. LinkedIn is a really helpful social media platform for people who want to find jobs, show their profile to others of what they are good at, and make connections with friends and people they may not know. After getting involved with this platform, I found that LinkedIn is more professional than other social media platforms for people seeking opportunities in their careers. From now on, I would like to update my profile as much as I can and make more connections to make it worthwhile for my future career.
Thank you for the tips. I have had a LinkedIn profile since about sophomore year of my undergraduate school. I created it at first because my teachers at the time recommended it. Now I love having a LinkedIn. It is nice because I not only get to connect with friends and classmates but also with people I work with and new and old bosses as well. I have noticed over the years that a lot of the places I apply for a job connect the application with my own personal LinkedIn program. With that being said I make sure I update it all the time and makes sure it looks good.
Some of the things you said made it a lot easier for me to figure out what I wanted to write. I'm still trying to figure out what exactly I should post about, but I'll get the hang of it.
Go White
Linkedin to me is essential, especially when you work in the advertisement business, as it is where all jobs are posted in Denmark. I have been on Linkedin for a while but it was not until a year and a half ago I started using it more thoroughly. I got my last job through Linkedin and thus, I can highly recommend for everybody else to take the time to make something out of your profile. Connect with people, who know people you would like to know in regards to your career, as they will work as endorsments for you and your work.
Hence, Linkedin has help me lay down the ground stone in my career and I am looking forward to many other opportunities to come.
Thank you for the helpful tips. Many others seem to be in the same position I have been in, that being as I have made my profile a while ago but not until now I was yet to take full advantage of it. I have now added and touched it up to the best of my ability. As I graduate this semester, I have actively been using LinkedIn to network and to apply for jobs. I have just started applying as of a couple days ago so I hope to hear back from the openings that I applied to. I believe LinkedIn is going to continually keep growing and growing that sooner or later almost everyone will have an account. I hope to take advantage of LinkedIn and to keep networking through it and keep my connections growing.
Thanks for the tips. They are really helpful!! I have been using LinkedIn since I came to the United States, because everyone around me says LinkedIn is helpful for job searching. However, before taking this class, I didn’t know how to wisely use it and how it would help me seek job. For me, completing LinkedIn profile is more than the midterm. It also makes me feel more confident about job searching next year!!
I never use LinkedIn before. To begin with, I do not how to write my profile and take a point for my profile. After I saw profile of other people who I following. I learned a lot. And I can modify my profile and improve my writing skill. So after I use LinkedIn, I learn a lot thing from it. And also I can see a lot of jobs from it. At first, I am not sure what job I can do after I graduated. Now I can look for a job from LinkedIn. I hope that I learn more from LinkedIn.
I've never used LinkedIn but one of the classes I took during last semester told me how to writes a good profile summary. I know LinkedIn is an excellent social network that can help users to build their online career profile, build their business connections. As a senior, I think it's a good chance to explore a new opportunity for me.
I've been using LinkedIn for a while now but have not been updating it as much as I should. These are good tips and I need to set some time aside to update my profile to make it the best it can be! LinkedIn is so helpful for finding jobs and growing your network. Especially with alumni, there are so many Spartan grads out there with awesome jobs that are more than happy to connect with a fellow Spartan.
Similar to many others, I made a LinkedIn account at some point during my Sophomore year of college. I heard from many people that it was an upcoming social media platform for professional careers and could help you get a job, so it seemed worth it to me. However, I never fully took advantage of the platform until my Junior year, which is when I spent a solid chunk of time completely filling out my page and adding the best picture I had available. Since then, I've continuously added high quality connections and have been able to create a respectable network over the past few years. So far, I haven't used LinkedIn to search for a job, but I intend to use it among other tools to search for a job once I graduate in May.
I've had a LinkedIn profile since I first came to college. At first, I just made one because I would always hear people talking about it and how it could help with finding jobs. I never really took full advantage of it until this summer when I used it to receive an internship with Flag Star Football. My profile still needs work so I'm glad this assignment is making me spend some more time on it. I will start putting in at least 30 minutes in updating my profile and looking for more connections weekly as you stated. I think that's something that would be very beneficial in helping me secure a job.
I have to say that while I have been using LinkedIn since 2014, I have never used it to actually search for or secure a job opportunity. My network of connections is quite large and it includes some very influential people, but I'm not sure of the best way to go about trying to find a job opportunity through that channel. It seems a bit forced and out of the blue to try and message somone for a job posting and I feel as though the platfrom is so over-saturated with people that it's difficult for employers to find me. Maybe I'm just using it all wrong. Hopefully I'll be better at it by the end of this course.
I created my Linkedin profile a few years back and I finally starting taking advantage of all it has to offer this past spring. Linkedin is a great tool to find jobs/internships and network with other colleagues. I love how there is a job posting page where you can search and apply for jobs that interest you. Over the past few months I have enjoyed watching my linkedin profile grow and become "All star" rating.
thanks for the linkin results. I think I really need the results with linkin. That is my first time use the linkin. And I really want to get the account with the linkin. I think that is the businees web to help you know some people who can give you some useful information in your work. Also you can find the work one link in . I hope I can have more skill and information to attract people find me
Ive had a LinkedIn profile for a while now but it needed some improvements. I'm glad this is an assignment because it forced me to make some changes and improve my LinkedIn profile. I understand how important it is to use multiple social media platforms, but LinkedIn has to be one of the most important as it may lead to real job offers. My profile can always improve and evolve and I'm sure it will. Hopefully I get more addicted to using LinkedIn over Facebook because I know it will force me to be more productive.
Over the summer semester I had to create my first LinkedIn profile and did the bare minimum requirements I needed for a certain status and then didn't ever really explore it from there or pay attention to it. Then I came back to it due to a few of my co-workers finding me on there wanting to add me, and before I knew it there were beneficial employers and great connections I have been making ever since. I always had mixed emotions about how important it was to have a profile because I met many other people who either felt negatively about it or that it was worthwhile, and those ones were right.
Great tips - thank you! I think recommendations can also be useful. How many recommendations do you think we should have? I admit until this week I have not touched my LinkedIn profile for a couple of years. Should you add a LinkedIn url to your CV? It actually surprises me when I connect with someone how many mutual connections we have that I didn't know about. With viewing the different types of social media and last week's assignment on websites, I'm actually thinking of closing my website as it does not add value/generate business and I think that maybe LinkedIn may be a more suitable platform.
One more question - do you recommend trying LinkedIn Premium? My primary field will be higher education so I don't know how much value that will be.
I have had to create a LinkedIn account in the past fora previous assignment in another class. Beyond that I really haven't revisisted the website. After getting my profile to an All-Star level for the assignment, I began to see why it can be such a powerful to for networking with people in your industry as well as finding a job. It was overall a positive experience.
I really enjoyed these tips thank you! I made a linkedin when I first attended college and I just kinda made one becasue I just kept hearing about it, I didn't really take to inconsideration and how important it is. Over the summer I really took it serious I really looked and fixed my Linkedin profile, especially that I am a senior graduating in December and taking this class made me realize how important it is to have a LInkedin account, the tip that I really like and need to work on is putting 30 mins into my profile a week.
It can definitely be difficult to navigate when first starting out on LinkedIn when it comes to building your profile. LinkedIn is an awesome source to connect with the business world and I agree that it is important to continue to add to your profile each week. I also agree that you should never share political views or controversial comments to avoid affending others. Thank you for the tips I will continue to use these and build my profile to the best of my ability!
Thank you for the tips! I think of the tips you have given us I do the last one the best. I like combing through the "People You May Know" part of LinkedIn to see if I can find people I know to increase my connection number. I also like going through it to see what people I know are currently doing. I think it's very interesting to see what types of jobs my friends from high school are getting, because a lot of them have changed from what they were gonna do when we graduated from high school. I have not given anyone an endorsement on LinkedIn yet, but that will soon change. I want people to endorse my skills, so it would only be fair that I endorse them back.
I love these tips! I have been really working on my LinkedIn since mid-summer and just the little bit of time I have spent on it has really paid off. In just two months I have gained over 100 connections and some very good connection at that. Your tip to work on it for 30 minutes a week I feel would really pay off and fast. I am always applying for internships but I didn’t think about continually working on my page I won’t lie I sort of thought once it was good it stayed good. The one thing I am not sure on is what to post. I have been tagged in many posts and I always like them but should I be sharing them as well? Should I be writing posts?
thank you for the tips! it is really hepful. from the points i revised my resume so that it seems more concise and powerful. I do not know anything about this website before, i do not know the power of interpersonal connections before, now i could accociate with the people on linkedin. Also, it is hepful for me to apply for a job and i know more about others experience of workplace but through reference and learn someone else's Linkedin experience, i could plan my career goals more clearly. On this site I could also find a lot of alumni through simple conversation and establish contact, we have a common friend so that we could communicate more happy. This is useful for expanding the interpersonal circle, and it will be helpful for my occupations in the future.
Thank you for the tips! I've always had the want to make a linkedIn accountbut never made the time to do it. I understand that it can be a very great tool and is very helpful for companies to find workers and find out about them all in one place. These tips will be great in helping me create a great account for myself and hopefully make mine one to look out for. I will have to try and come into habit of checking it frequently and thats something I just have to work on.
These are all really good tips to keep in mind while building a LinkedIn account. I have been using Linkedin since for a few years now and it has been extremely helpful for looking for jobs and staying in touch with past coworkers. From linkedin I was able to get a letter of reccomendation from a supervisor from my past internship. I was able to use a lot of these tips to improve my profile.
These are very helpful tips on enhancing our LinkedIn profiles. I recently finished updating my resume and LinkedIn from my internship this summer. I think it is important to stay on top of it, and to keep adding skills as they become relevant. I think it is also helpful to know the do's and don'ts on posts/material that you share on LinkedIn.
