Thank you for the helpful LinkedIn tips! LinkedIn was interoduced to me by my high school teacher. He told us to create a LinkedIn account in class, so my account was created several years ago. I think LinkedIn is a great way to get to know people in your area and get connected with people from your industry. It's a two way communication, they can get a chance to know you as well. I started take this account serious because of this class. LinkedIn has become my main social media for job searching and career developing.
Hello Jiale! I also agree with you that Linkedin is a great opputunity to create a social network to meet new people ikn your area and find jobs in your area. I started a Linkedin account my freshman year of college, becasue I kept hearing about it in my classes and was told how important it was to have one especially being a college student.
These tips were very helpful! I will have to make sure I continue to add more information to my profile as time goes on. Especially since LinkedIn is basically the new Facebook. I didn't know you could share articles/blogs and honestly have no idea how to stream anything so it will be interesting to learn in the future! I had started my LinkedIn account a year or two ago but just started putting effort into it because of this class. So thank you for that!
Thank you for your helpful Linkedin tips. This class has helped me go from inntermediate, to an All Star. With recruiting season underway, it is very imporant to have my Linkedin up to date. The thing I found most difficult about this assignment was writing the summary of myself. I am still not satisifed with what I've written and most likely will continue to revise it over this semester. Thanks agin for the tips!
Thanks so much for the LinkedIn tips! This is valuable advice that I'm going to use. I'd especially like to get in the habit of updating my profile regularly, as I have a bad habit of leaving it for weeks at a time and then logging in to update it all at once. I really like LinkedIn because it's nice to have an online profile that displays me as a professional. It seems strange to fill out Facebook or other social medias in the way you fill out LinkedIn, with job experiences, professional skills, and portfolio pieces and that sort of thing. It just wouldn't work. It's great to have an online space dedicated to that content.
I had no information about LinkedIn before this class. I think this is good media source to use advertise yourself to people and companies. Also, it is easy to forget all the activities or any work that you’ve done for future. It is valuable resources to keep in track with what you’ve done. Gathering information can be set positive impact to ourselves. Also, if you had well organized LinkedIn profile, it will be set a good impression when we interview the jobs. I think I will use LinkedIn for my future references.
I first learned of LinkedIn my senior year of high school when I had an internship for TWW Employment Solutions. This company, in the simplest terms, helped people in the city of Detroit who were on Government assistance get off Government assistance by helping them budget out money, improving there interviewing skills, and helping them find jobs. There was a teacher there named Michael Evans who said a good LinkedIn account could help you connect with Jobs and people you wouldn't necessarily meet in our current lifestyles. So I started building connections then.
After freshman year of College I kind of fell off with building my account but I believe if any time is right to start building again the time is now. I have about two years left in college and after I graduate I'm going to start looking for employment. If I can start building those connections now as an established college student it would beneficial for my after college job search.
LinkedIn has always been my favorite way to build a professional platform. I've connected with so many inspiring individuals and it keeps my professional contacts in the professional realm; versus adding them on Facebook to stay in touch. I have also found a magnitude of professional devlopment articles that have contributed to my success in internships and in general networking. I've used it to learn and grow as a professional and have only seen positive results.
I do not know what Linkedin is until I took this class. This is a really useful website which may let people get a job. I got connect with different kinds of people at the website and knew about a lot of interesting things through the website. I did fill out my profile and try to make my profile beautiful. And i also look forward to connect the people that are interted of me and hopefully to get me a job.
Actually, either I never heard of Linkedin and never used it before. However, thoughout this class, I learned what the Linkedin is. I noticed that Linkedin can give opportunities to have a job. It can be a good connection system. As I building up my profile, I could see many good informations related about it. However, I am still learning how to use Linkedin. If I learn little more, I might enjoy Linkedin much more.
After seeing that our LinkedIn profiles are our midterm, I have been slowly adding to mine each week. Before this class, I hadn't updated mine since Freshman year. I didn't necessarily know what was important to include so these tips are very helpful. I'm glad that it is a requirement for this class because it will really help to stand out to employers in a professional way.
I heard about LinkedIn before, but this is my first time use it. In China, LinkedIn has a Chinses name called "LingYing", I heard about it before but I do not know it is LinkedIn. Before I create the account for LinkedIn I do not know how it works, but I start learning about it during adding my profiles. It is a great social media platform for senior graduating student or anyone trying to find a job. I fill out my profiles and get few connections on LinkedIn, it feels amazing that social media connections can offer or suggest me a job.
LinkedIn is social media platform for people to find jobs or get connection with other bussiness people. When I first used it, I found that it had many differences with other social media platforms. For example, the style of Linkedin is pretty formal and clear. Unlike Facebook or Instagram's content, the content of Linkedin is basically about business and professional career. I would love to use the LinkedIn to know more people or get more connection with people.
I try to keep my linkedin profile up to date, so I keep changing it and adding new things. I also get a lot of ideas by looking at other people's profiles and what they say about themselves, mostly if they're people that are succeeding in the industry I'm interested in.
I have noticed that every time I have added a new position in the Experience section, people that have also had positions at that place have added me as a connection. Linkedin is definitely great for networking and finding professional opportunities!
I heard of Linkedin a long time ago, I knew it is used for seeking jobs. It was considered hi-end in China a few years ago since it's a distinctive worldwide social media. Personally I have not tried it before, this is the first I got in touch with Linkedin, I found it useful for a graduating student like me, especially when you are trying to find a job in America, it will help you surprisingly, at least it can get you connect to more people with different positions and that will definitely broad your eyesight in terms of communicating.
LinkedIn is a great way to connect with co-workers, classmates and professionals in the field. Although I've had a LinkedIn account since my freshman year, my profile hadn't been complete until this assignment. After learning more about the site and how to use it effectively, I think I will use it more to grow my professional network. These tips will definitely help me as I try to maximize the site as much as possible!
This is the first time I knew Linkedin and I found it is a powerful and useful social media website. I can easily find a guy have same working interest with me and communicate with him. I can learn a lot from that communication such as, how to build my profile and how to do well in the interview. For now, I havn't been familier with Linkedin and only have about 100 connects, but I believe I can find more friends with time goes on.
Linkedin is a strong social platform for people who are searching for a job. Many companies are also looking for the employees in Linkedin. Secondly, Linkedin helps you build a wide networking with others. People also easy to update their resume instead of updating their resume on paper. Sometimes, we can get news from our connections, because they will post some news, tips, and updates. It is good for people to learn about other business.
I have my Linkedin account when I was at middle school but, believe or not I am still new to Linkedin. I have not update my profile for a really long time. For this assessment I rewrite my summary and update many information then I found out Linkedin is very useful for my career and I can be connected with many people from the college and people work for compaines that I am interested in. Also, we have chinese Linkedin, So I can use this for looking internship in China as well which is awsome.
Go White! I really love this social media which can provide an online space for professional business. It is a good place to show other people what skills I have, what I experienced before, what I am doing now. All the stuff on this social media is professional and easy to connect other skilled people. When I type "MSU" on the searching engine, there are many people who are related to MSU including professors, students, and TAs. It is also a good resource to find the information on everyone's profile. I think it is a really cool social media.
I have been on LinkedIn for a while, but I had not really added descriptions and jobs onto it. It was grad school that motivated me to make an elaborate profile. All my peers raved about hpw it is a great platform for networking with the right kind of employer group and looking for jobs. I havent yet been able to see any great effects from my Linkedin profile, but it is still a work in progress.
Over my college career, I have made it a point to keep my LinkedIn up to date. It has kept me in contact with alumni and other professionals.
This past year I have started to tweak my profile and maintain an "all star" profile level. With my recent changes, I have gotten many notifications about appearing in searches. Recruiters have even reached out to me for a job! LinkedIn is an incredible resource once you navigate the site and figure out how to optimize the business aspect of it.
One of my favorite things about LinkedIn is the articles. It gives you the information you could gain at a conference but you can read it anywhere and at your convenienve. These are also helpful to get the latest 411 on companies and industries.
Overall, LinkedIn has become a social media app I use daily. It helps me stay connected with the business world and individuals.
I'm still pretty new to LinkedIn, so I appreciate all of these tips! It still amazes me when people have 500+ connections on LinkedIn. I have just under 200 and don't want to simply connect with everyone that shows up on my feed. I know a lot of people that do this, but it doesn't seem very authentic to me. I only connect with people I actually know, but hopefully as I move up in my career, I'll be able to reach 500+.
I think the hardest part of building my linkedin profile is adding those keywords in my summary. I had a hard time putting into a short description of what makes me different, I found myself using the summary linkedin made for me and then adding little details to it to make me stand out. I think as I used linkedin more, I will more easily be able to make my profile more unique. I am using linkedin as a way to keep a visual running resume of experiences and professional connections that I can use in the future and in the process, I can use these connections with other early childhood professionals for development opportunities, courses, employment, and opportunities to work with others at conferences. I think something I want to start doing is sharing articles and research of interest that I can build more personal connections with people in my network. I started my linkedin back in September and I have sent 5 or 6 network connection requests each day to different people and I find it difficult to get all of these connections built up because not many people do spend 30-60 minutes a week on the website. I think if I give my profile more time, I will be able to have over 50 connections as a I add more details.
Those are some helpful tips. I really should spend more time building my network because it has been sitting pretty stagnant for a while, but as I look for jobs in the future, I know that having a larger network to dig through would help my chances a lot. Thanks for all the tools!

I am going to keep these tips in mind while I continue using LinkedIn. I still haven't gotten in the habit of checking and posting on it as often as my other social media accounts, but I'm sure that once I get used to it I'll be updating it constantly. A big difference to remember between LinkedIn and Facebook is more careful attention needs to go into the content of a post on LinkedIn. Endorsements are another feature that is unique to LinkedIn that I look forward to exploring more.
