Website links are so ubiquitous that it's easy to overlook their importance. Most websites have dozens if not hundreds of links -- sometimes within a single page.
Links are the primary method which we navigate the web. Even if you're performing a web search it's a link that you click on to visit a site and then a series of links as you explore the site.
Links are the reason the web exists in the first place. The founder of the web Sir Tim Berners-Lee wanted a method for sharing and interlinking research documents, so he invented HTML -- the code used to assemble web pages.
Now links are not just used for navigation but they are also a strong signal for search engines like Google and Bing. These search engines use links to determine how popular and trustworthy a given site is. Sites with lots of links are generally higher quality and should rank higher.
Quantity is not the only signal search engines review. The words used to link to other pages also inform as to the topic. Meaning you could link to a site only using a web address, e.g. https://www.insulgard.com/ or you could link to it using words that describe what the site is about, e.g. bullet proof glass.
The latter approach is important not only for search engine optimization but also creating compelling online content. Website users tend to scan content rather than read every word. Links stand out and receive more focus than unlinked text. If you link just says "Read More" the user doesn't know where that link takes them. Compare that to "Learn about bank security products". In this example, the user doesn't need to read anything other than the link itself to know where the link would take them.

I think the reason why links are So important to SEO is because the search engine quickly understands your website through the well-known external chain, which is in line and with its requirements. And also the new website has strong dependence on links. A highly weighted website has links to a new website, so it's good for ranking websites and search engines.
Links is a very important element of SEO, obviously, how a link works to decide how many patients an audience willing to check it out. Nowadays, links are not only a navigation, it can also be a headline, people nowadays are more willing to scan the content, but not read that carefully. Thus, a link is critical for a company or a brand, since it helps the audience to decide whether they are willing to click it.
I think the overall look of the link is important as discussed. I also believe that aligning your link with related searches via search engine optimization is very important. A searcher should not have to look up the website to get the link. For example, a sports team would want to align its link to that sport, that city, etc.
Links are what makes the internet go round. I know personally I can go on the internet and keep clicking links and before I realize it I have been on it for hours. For example I was on Facebook yesterday and saw a link to a news article and somehow two hours later I was buying a pair of cowboy boots when i clicked on an add I saw for them. Why? I have no idea but that is just a simple example of how the internet is all connected by links, going from Facebook, to a news article, to youtube, to shopping, to buying unneeded boots on my moms credit card.
I personally have not valued links enough. I never had the inital thought that because a site contains mutiple links that is more trustworthy. For the most part I don’t find myself clicking on links just because it will open a new browser and take me somewhere else while I am in the middle of an article. Although I don’t click on them myself I do see the imporatnce in including them in my own writing for readers who do need extended information.
I think the links are very important in the website advertising or in introduction. A link can get people a very fast way to get the website that they want to get to. It can make topics and make more people to get to read the page. It is an important navigation. A website without the link will let people feel bored. As the other side of view, the internet nowadays is a very convenient thing. A website without links will be an unconvenient website. It make things more complicated.
Sometimes, the link is not really that bad. For example, if I want to buy a product from website, the simplest way for me is to type the product name into Google and search for it. The following show up would have hundreds of website, that means I have hundreds of choices, to compare the price, the reviews or even the after-sale services, I can select one from it and get it few days later. But if the links navigation goes away, I may have only one or to choice could make, it is not fair for the economic development.
Links are very important especially when it comes to key words or a phrase that the consumer is looking for. It also provides an oppertunity to reach new comsumers who are just browsing on. I personally have ventured off on a couple of websites to then make a purchase that I was not intending on getting in the first place. Overall links ccan be very usful to the company.
I think links are very important in social media. It can quickly send any message you want to express very easily. Links don't disappear anytime soon. It's easy to open, and most links don't go wrong. I always use links on homework and social media. People can quickly find the links I share. Links are the most convenient way to click and view information. It is very helpful to our life.
I agree with this, if there isn't any links it will take more time to search again and again. It makes people easier to find information what they need and also related information that they also need. It is very useful function. It is also easier to find main point. Links help me to find important information easily.
Links are a great way to navigate the web going from one web page to the next, helping people find information quickly. There are drawbacks though, probably the biggest being the use of viruses in some links as well as scams. With the technology in todays day and age it is important that people are educated on the fact that somthing as simple as clicking on a link can give an experienced hacker large amounts of private and delicate information, making the victims life miserable. It is something to keep in mind when browsing the internet, making sure to think about the content behind the link.
This is an interesting idea and I've never fully appreciated the foundation that links provide for the Internet. It's also very true that people are more inclined to click on a link if there's content encouraging them to click and if they have a solid understanding of the context behind the link. For example, when writing a blog or some other form of consumer-facing copy, it's vital that you lead the reader toward the link, make it relevant, and blend it with the rest of the content. If the reader is interested in the ideas you are communicating, they will want to learn more, but you have to present this opportunity in an appropriate manner. It's also important to remember not to overuse links because the content will look spammy and unprofessional. Furthermore, some links are more essential than others (e.g., a link to purchase a product vs. a link to an external article), so they should be included sparingly and utilized to enhance the user experience and not distract.
Thinking of "links" in websites, I always think of how annoying it is in usual. Especially for most websites of a certain brand or shopping sites, there are at least 20 or more links placed, and I could say almost 90% of those are advertisements. It makes people go to another webpage even if they are not willing to, and the advertisement creates another links, and that links to another. (over and over) Even worse thing is that certain people make money only by making people click and visit their website. I would like to strongly say that all the websites in out social networks must be clean and contains organized links, so that people can not click it by mistakes.
Just like links, I believe content is just as important. The content attached to those links is what makes things easy to find online via web search. Additionally, easy navigation seems to be SO IMPORTANT when it comes to Google's ranking of pages.
I agree that links are overlooked in importance. Links help the internet exist overall, help people navigate the web, and give strong signals for search engines. Links stand out and pull in viewer's versus unlinked text. All of these are equally crucial when considering the importance of links. Search engines do rely on links to determine if a site is safe to use and how popular it is, this is so it can categorize it into levels of quality for users. This helps users naviagte through the web safely and easily.
I never really noticed it, but it's true that I spend little time reading on websites, especially when I'm searching for something. It's very important for brands to make important links pop out so website users don't have to spend much time scanning the page. I also think it's interesting that there are so many ways to customize links. They can be attached to pictures and appear in videos, and more recently, you can scan a link in the form of a QR code with your phone and immediately be taken to a web page. Before this class, I didn't know much about how search engines worked. However, now I understand how they can return such accurate results and it makes sense to target links to determine how relevant the website is to the search.
I agree that website links are easily overlooked when quickly scanning through a webpage. I agree that linking words that describe the site rather than the website link itself or “Read More” allows for a reader to easily figure out where that link will take them without having to do too much work. I also like the note about how linking words to describe the site is also helpful for search engine optimization because links like “Read More” and full website links are not going to show up in search engine results. I think when designing a webpage with links, you have to think how to make it easier for viewers to click those links.
I am a big outdoors guy, Therefore I spend a lot of my time of fishing and outdoor websites. The format of these websites have many different links to different types of information. The links give a title or heading to a certain outdoor activity, and the reroute you to a specific page with information under that category. This is very helpful to me when I need to key in on certain specific information.
Links are so important for websites, they are navigators for us to find information online and also have the basic title for the website. I like to watch links in articles and posts, becuase it always give me more relative imformation that I am interested in. And we use links in assignments and social networks a lot, people can find our work and understand our thoughts quickly and easily through website links.
Before taking this class, I had no idea the importance of website links. The code to assemble websites is very complex but is very important in website design. I believe that links that use words to describe what the site is about can be very useful in increasing website traffic. It gives the viewer a more clear idea of what they are going to be redirected to and so they can be sure that they are going to the intended webpage.
Before I take this class, I only know that links are just used for navigation. After I learn things in this course, I am so surprised that the link name will be this much detail. It really matters that if the link name is clear so that customers will know where the link would take them. When I look at a website and wanna know more about some specific things, I really need the marketer to make the link name clearly to understand. It will effect whether I will click in or not for sure.
I agree that links are often looked over quickly without another thought. I think it is important to switch normal website urls into a different word link. It will be more effective and will cause people to actually want to click a link, rather than visit a brand new website.
I agree with the importance of website links. We use them in our every day lives. its so helpful in so many situations, when doing homework, or just looking up certain information, we always are looking for those wesbite links. When I am reading something on a website and it has a different colored word, phrase, or even the actual wesbite link, im always looking to go to it and click on it. This just shows how much people actually use it and will click on it when they see it. It for sure is important to have the link say something else than just "read more" because that doesnt pull readers in to want to read more.
The website links are important to a website because it's the key to open the door, which is the website. However, the door is opened for lots of people so there should not be only one key but lots of them. Nowadays, convenience is also very important, therefore, the lock of the door must accept lots of keys so that everyone can login in with their keys.
I think links are very important in social media. It's very convenient to send information you want to express. And links aren’t going away anytime soon. It's easy to open and most of the links will not go wrong. I always use links in my homework and social media. And people can find the content quickly. Links are the most convenient way to click and watch information. It's very helpful in our life.
I never really gave links much thought before this class. I didn't realize that the way the links are presented affects how the site itself appears in search engine optimization. The words that are used to describe the link are extremely important because being underlined and in blue it stands out. The words used must be descriptive and informative without being too specific in order to grab the attention of the reader without overwhelming them with information or boring them.
Website links like a big collection library, it take effective methods to search plus location awareness can yield significant dividends in helping users effectively and efficiently find information. In most cases, when I trying to click " read more" that provides some certain articles or pages that will help users save time.
Before I took this class, I never thought that links could be more than just the navigator.
By adding the link to the writing we could get more information that we wish to know and could talk more about with the writer. Link could contain much information but on the other hand, we should make sure to use the right link in our writing. It could give us the information with the opposite evidence with my writing.
Using link could reduce the information that I have to deliver to people and the people who are reading my article could get wider information based on my writing.
I never thought too much of it, but I must follow thousands of links on a daily basis with the amount of internet I consume (too much). Links are crucial, and I agree that it is important to have unambiguous links. Users don't want to take the risk of clicking on a link that displays a URL, unsure of where they're heading. In my job as an editor for an online publication, I always make sure that words are linked directly to the words in the articles that pertain to them, instead of tacking them on the end into parentheses.
By taking this course, one of the things I've learned is the importance of adding links into each assignment we've done. The links I have placed in my assignments are set into words that show what the link would be about so that the readers have an idea of where that link will take them. I would agree that with my own experience with links inside webpages that just say "Read More" keep me hesitant to click further to read more. It actually almost turns me off from clicking the link even if I am interested in what I'm reading about. When inserting links onto a webpage it is important to make them stand out and say where the user is going, especially when users read many pages per day and only quickly scan through the pages.
I definiltly agree that ambiguous links are not going to get clicked on. Especially with viruses and all the other nasty things hackers and other people put out there people have become a lot more careful about what they are clcicking. Personally I would never click a link that just said "read more". I do really enjoy though when stories have well labeled internal links that give the story more depth and background to truely help me understan it. I find myself getting really frustrated when I have to work and constantly look up terms or refeances that an article is refering to.
Link plays an important role in social media area. It brought key words which are easier to understand and follow its website here. In other word, it helps people to save more time finding material. Not every person will try to remember every link they are going to, so it decides link's existence. For example, I have a few documents need to send to other people, however, it will took so long to send him. However, if I upload these documents online and then sent him a link. He can see immediately.
Your post has provided a brief introduction to how the internet and links in particular contribute to users’ online presence and content marketing. To be more specific, links are the primary approach for people to navigate the web and to expose them to further information searching. Since links are important shortcuts for popularization of compelling contents, it is important for users to use SEO to enhance audience engagement. Specifically, it could expose a wide audience to attractive and informative contents, helps uses to generate trust between businesses and customers, and enhance brand loyalty via online presence and return visitors. On the contrary, turning a blind eye to SEO could lead up to failure in brand building, customer attraction and failure in content marketing. As mentioned in your post, website visitors tend to scan content rather than read every word; therefore, it is necessary for business owners or marketing personnel to optimize their web link, interface and SEO.
Links are crucial in most of the websites nowadays. I use links in most of my educational work as it helps readers get an insight of particular topics being discussed. It saves me time to read and edit the web page. I am able to share the entire web page with my readers. Catchy headlines on links ensure the readers click on the link for more information out of curioisty. Most websites have incorporated links in ther pages. They are important when the web page is too long, and the readers have reached the end of the age. They get a link directing them to go back to the begining of the page. This saves time too while navigating through websites.
Links help reduce the quantity of a web page as well.
Adding links to articles and websites are very important nowadays since people are always curious. If you have an intreging articles providing areas or related content is an easy way to draw more attention and traction to other online information you have posted. Using this linking method is becoming more and more vital in contributing to the success of a company because then they are viewed as a reliable source to find information relvant to you.
I am the type of person who will start out by reading one news article and then an hour later I find myself getting into the weeds of that topic since I have continued to click on link after link. Links are important and useful because they allow people to delve into topics they are interested in. Links are also convenient because they allow the reader to click through to learn more versus having to do a separate Google search to find more information. I had never reflected on how often I click on links within articles, but now that I am thinking about it, I realize I am much more prone to click on a link if it tells me the subject of where that link will take me. I am definitely even more likely to click on a link with words versus clicking on a link of an html address. I do have to say my biggest pet peeve about links is when you click on a link and it doesn't open the page in a new tab. It is much more convenient for the reader to have multiple tabs open versus having to hit the back arrow time and time again in order to return to a page.
Since taking this class, I began to pay more attention to the links I clicked or I used in many works. When I browse the web, those URLs with interesting titles always attract me and click in with unconscious. Like after watching video on YouTube, I usually roller down to information box and click ‘Read More’ button. There are some links that customized by Youtuber, I can get the relevant content instantly and gain the pleasant user experience.
These days we connect an internet a lot so the link is one of the significant part. For example, we put the links for every assignment for this class because it helps people to understand more about articles and assignment. Usually, peopel did not think that links are not important because it is only for refering information in articles or any other work. However, I also use lots of links in my life. Even I looked up social media, if it is really helpful and funny, I copy the internet link and send to my friends. In addition, many professor gave us to study more about their class through links. Such as these examples, links are significant in current life.
Links are such an important indicator of validity for me on a website/blog. When I'm doing research for a paper or project, I check out the links to see where they take me and what information is being linked to. I have found that I am alos more likely to click on a link that says more than "Read More". The more descriptive a link is, the more I trust that link. I think that this is because I am able to know where I am going to go before clicking, rather than clicking and hoping that I am not redirected to some shady website.
I didn't ever think about the fact that a high quality website has dozens to hundreds of links within their main website. I think when it is a high quality website, the links within the site all flow together nicely so that the viewer doesn't notice, or that it doesn't look messy. Although, I have noticed myself clicking on links that describe what the site is about rather than a web address. I believe that that is a very important thing to notice about users when creating a website, in order to get more website traffic.
Links are a necessity in articles, blogs, retail websites, and everything in between. When it comes to something informative online, links are a good way to offer the reader a way to learn more about a topic if they so choose, without filling the article with background information. It is an optional way to get more information. These links are often presented as a different color text that says "read more" or "for more information on _______, click here". Links can also be used in a retail situation. If someone is trying to order shoes online, there might be a link that describes in more detail how the shoe fits, and which size to order. Again in this case, a link is there to provide optional extra information to the consumer.
Yes I as a link clicker prefer to know the descripition of a link before I click on it if the link is vauge I may not bother. Links are very important to gather more information about whatever you are looking at/ for without description we as readers may scroll past it to a more detailed link which may cause the vauge link to receive less traffic which also falls in line with SEO the more descriptive the link the more traffic to the site.
Before taking this class, I did not focus links on the website, I just look around the website and click on links. As Ross said, the words used to link to other pages also inform as to the topic. I try to think about the importance of links and click links on website that have any words and descriptions. Also, useful links bring more availability to people, and when I took this class, I feel that links are very important for every assignment. By doing homework for this class, I learned how to use html format, and I will keep the skill to do other works.
I like the link provided in the article or in the video because it allows me to see a lot of different things. And the content of the link I think is that everyone can share with each other. I have found that more and more places are using links. I think this is a very convenient method. In the same way, links play a very important role in our lives.
I, too, find myself constantly clicking on links that say things such as "learn more about Ulta products here" rather than "read more". I find that these links are greatly important for small and large businesses alike to gain a following and be accessible to new and returning customers. When reading articles, or blog posts, I love when the products/services used are tagged, or "linked", so it is easy for me to access them! This usually leads me to some sort of purchase and a sale for the company at hand!
I think the use of informational links such as the ones that describe what the site is about (bullet proof glass) are extremely useful and make it much easier to navigate websites and seek out the content that I want. I believe that the greater quantity and effective positioning of these kinds of links make websites more user-friendly and create a more enjoyable online experience. I know that when I am searching online for something specific I do not want have to take extra time to find exactly what I am looking for. Usually, my online search starts with a google search, then locating a link that I want to use to take me directly to my desired page. These links have revolutionized how we search and locate information, bringing a vast database and making it seem small.
Having links are very helpful especially when you're trying to find smething in particular. With links, you're able to navigate the web and visit a site that's possibly more important than another site. When I do come across a "read more", I am a little hesitant. In the past, once I click on "read more", the information presented has nothing to do with what I am happening to look for. In other small cases, the "read more" link has given me small clues of what I am looking for and has helped. Links can also be helpful when there's a key word that you're looking for that has been created as a link. That way, you spend less time search through multiple links, and instead you have the most descriptive one that you've been looking for.
Links are extremely important in order to either fully understand an article or to be able to access a website with specific information. For example, if there's an article that's referencing a different site and the link isn't included, it's frustrating and it makes it hard to find the article valid. Additionally, I feel that with the ability to customize links makes searching for specific sources easier. As said earlier, if a link says "read more", we can't be sure if the article/page is about to waste our time. If a customized link has key words that are exactly what we're looking for, we can be more confident that the webpage will be relevant.
When this blog says "link that you click on to visit a site and then a series of links as you explore the site," is it just referring to different sections of a website? For example, if I wanted to buy a jean jacket, then I could google "distressed denim jacket" and I would see forever21 as the first link. If I clicked the link, it would bring me to their "women's denim" page, where I'd click on a jacket that I thought looked nice or cool. Then it would bring me to another separate page where I could see more details about the jacket and buy it. In that process, would each of those steps count as a different link within the website that increases Forever21s search ranking(s)?
Also, if links within your domain count, is it more effective to link to your own pages or to other peoples' websites? Would that depend on the type of website (i.e. informational vs. sales-oriented) that's building the links?
Lastly, I'm also unclear on how you can maintain good content and usability with lots of links on your site. Clicking through a bunch of pages, or having to leave the site you started on, can get confusing and tedious. So in that sense, wouldn't the quality of the user's experience ultimately go down with more links and cause people to want to use/refer to your website less, regardless of its higher page rank? Doesn't the number of visitors have the greatest impact on your ranking in the end?
I think links are very crucial to online advertising. They direct customers and followers to where they need to go and if a link can't do that properly, it's useless. Link appearance is also very important as some links just honestly look like spam. If your link is too long, too short or contains unusal symbols or even keywords, people won't click on it. Placement of said links is also important to ensure credibility, whether that means a pop-up ad or on a company social media account.
