Although the statistics in the video were mindblowing, I honestly did not expect anything less. In a day and age where technology and mobile devices are becoming a staple in our lives, I cannot imagine a world without the use of the two, especially since kids who were borned in the 2000's don't know anything outside of mobile technology. I am just excited to see in our lifetime if our world can keep excelling at this pace and when we will eventually become "one" (connected through our own selves) with digital technology, and not have to take steps back if some catastropic event were to happen (wars, global warming, etc...).
This is a pretty cool video! Also, it has been a great semester taking this course. Do we only neet to put the SlideShare link and the notes with the PPT into the assignment?
I think the stats on this video are mindblowing. More people own a smartphone than a toothbrush?! It is so crazy to think how the world is changing, especially in terms of sales and marketing, and I'm excited to see what's next.
I found it interesting that the age limit for LinkedIn has been lowered to 13. That seems outrageously low to start currating your social media presence, let alone LinkedIn. I really liked the 4 C's as a replacement for the 4 P's. It seems relevant and forward-thinking.
This video was enjoyable to watch. It's so interesting to consider how our society has evolved through our reliance on technology. I found it shocking that the video mentioned more people having a smart phone than a tooth brush. Everyone connects through mobile now, which has some downsides in terms of people's ability to have a conversation face-to-face.
Thank you for a great semester! How would you suggest applying these skills and letting employers know that I have some skills and knowledge in new media?
It's pretty hard to believe more people have a digital device than a toothbrush! I think the generation i grew up with has hit the major timing of an increased social media presence. Everyone is on some device the majority of their day from what it seems. It's ironic to watch this video after a day of travelling through an airport where I observed that almost everyone old enough to use a phone, had theirs out and was using it. Do you think social media will continue to increase among digital device users or is it bound to plateau?
Very compelling information. I've learned a majority of theses statistics in my other classes but it still blows my mind how much people are involved with digital media. Digital media is the right industry to be in but on the other side, it saddens me how we rely on digital media way too mcuh.
do you think that because of snapchat and its instant video gratification, it is the reason video is increasing?! why take a picture of something if you can take a video of the whole moment.
One can't help but be concerned with the rise of social media. It is already beyond huge, and I worry at times that it is starting to take away from what is really going on in our day to day lives. Do you feel that people who manage online advertising campaigns have suffered a loss when it comes to their basic interpersonal communication skills?
This honestly makes me a little sad. As much as I love the world of social media, some of the facts in this video are insane. The fact that the average attention span for humans is less than that of a goldfish is worrisome. Although, I can admit to not wanting to read an article if it doesn't have major bullet points I can skim though or not wating to watch a video if it is longer than 30 seconds. I do see the world changing and adapting to this type of media, which can be a good thing as a way to spread information as fast as possible. I just also think maybe we should slow it down and enjoy the real world once in a while.
This was a really interesting video to watch, I recently watched something similar to this in an international advertising course. I cant believe more people own a digital device than a toothbrush!
It is intresting to me that video is predicted to become so popular by 2018. Today's generation seems to like to understand things quickly. The clip later states that the average human attention span is 7 seconds. I am surprised video would be so popular and so many companies would increase spending in that sector.
This is a great video to watch and I enjoyed it. It is amazing how people have began to see social media as a necessary in their lives. I mean, as for me, I can't live one day without checking my social media. This class also gives me a great understanding of how to building your business with smart digital strategies.
This is a really cool and interesting video. I always enjoy watching these videos because off all the fact that they have in them. One of the most interestig facts I saw was that humans have an attention span of 0.7 which is less than a goldfish! Really liked the video.
I've seen many videos like this, and always find them surprisng and very interesting! I really liked how they translated the 4 P's of marketing into the "4 C's of digital." What was sort of surprising was how more than 50% of the world population is under 30. "Word of mouth >>> World of mouth."
Such a cool video, its awesome to see an MSU alumni making such an awesome video. I found the fact that more people own a phone or "mobile device" than a toothbrush super funny and shocking! but super cool video, very informational!
Very interesting how large the social media populations are compared to China, India, and the United States. The Linked number is a great example of how a broad spectrum of ages use social media. The age of linked in was moved down to 13. The target audience for many marketers is becoming younger and younger. What impact do you think this will have on the millennials and how they use social media?
I would say I really enjoy learning the tactics regarding the digital marketing field and the logic behind the digital world. Thanks for sharing this amazing video!
I think one of the good things to come out of mobile marketing is real time marketing. With much of the population having access to mobile devices, people can constantly check all social platforms. I believe that it is very important for brands to participate in real time marketing because it keeps their content relevant to their audience. If it is done correctly, the response can be very positive for the brand.
I was totally amazed by the fact that there are more people own a mobile device than a toothbrush. It makes digitalization a requirement for companies in this age.
I love the concept of the 4 Cs of digitial: creating, currating, connecting and culture. I believe these three words do a great job of describing both the digitial landscape of today and the digital landscape of tomorrow.
This should be a real eye opener to some people. It begs a good direction for future trends and tendencies. Time for some laggers to get into that "adapt or die" phase
Wow, seeing that grandparents are the fastest growing demographic on Twitter really shocked me. None of my grandparents, and even some of my aunts and uncles, do not know what Twitter is. Seeing how much video is growing isn't too shocking, but crazy to think of how quickly the social media landscape changes, I wonder what the big platform will be in 5 years? Go White!
The social media already becomes part of people's life, they face different ages, religions. They help people to know more, lean more and use more.
I definitely agree that it is crazy to think more people own a mobile device than a toothbrush! And I'm really surprised that Facebook has more population that China LOL. This video gives me a new understanding of the importance of utilizing social media properly (although I have pretty aware of that through this semester). Thank you for this terrific class, I enjoyed learning all these useful things, and even enjoyed doing those weekly homeworks! ! #GoWhite
As a human being, some of the statistics shared in this video made my faith in humanity plummet. As a human being whose livlihood depends on those statistics, I'm pretty happy. This course was fantastic, and I am so glad that I took it. I feel much more prepared for the digital marketing world, and I think the reason I (and I'm sure everyone else) was able to take so much from this class is because we aren't just memorizing information, we're applying it to real life situations. I think that a couple big things university classes lack is real world application and integration of current news and trends. This class did a great job of filling those gaps. I was able to apply information I learned in this class to other classes, as well as the internship I was in throughout the course of this semester. Thank you for a great semester!
This was a great video with a lot of extremely insightful information. I am so suprised about Linkedin lowereing the user age to 13 knowing that you are not able to work until you are 16. The video states that 90% of buyers trust peer recommendations, which I can definitely agree with. Every time I think about buying a product or tyring a new restaurant I make sure to check for peer recs so I do not waste my time on just what that company has to say about their own product. This class was extremely eye opening for me and I feel a lot more comfortable with social media in a business setting. I have definitely noticed different strategys companies use now that I never have noticed before.
Thank you for all your time effort on this course. NMDL is defintely one of the most useful courses I have ever had by far. It is so amamzing to learn new things on weekly basis and I defintely could say I am a better person and a young profesional after this. My last question of this course is: How do you keep passion of learning while working in digial marketing industry?
That was a really insightful video, it's crazy to think about all the facts that were presented to us. I'm confused by why the LinkedIn age was lowered to 13 when we aren't even allowed to get jobs until we are 16. Also, the average span of a human is 7 seconds, that is so true because during this video I kept getting distracted by texts that kept coming in. It's interesting to see where the world of social media and technology will go in the future! Soon we'll be the ones who won't know how to use the latest technology!
Also, thank you for a great class. I've learned so much! GO WHITE :)
I thought this video was very well done and had many valid points.
My favorite point was the switch from the 4 P's to the Digital 4 C's. I think this switch is more and more evident everyday, and I am looking forward to seeing how the digital marketing world evolves.
It's crazy to think our attention spans are less than that of a goldfish. Businesses should definetly consider this when looking for ways to reach their audiences who are consuming information so quickly. I guess that is one more thing that makes advertising and marketing an exciting challenge.
Crazy to think more people own mobile phones than toothbrushes! I remember having a Razor when I was younger and now having an iPhone.. so much is changing and developing so fast! I wonder how much things will change decade to decade. I find it exciting and scary all at once. Learning the current tools to keep up with social media and Internet is really fascinating and I have learned a ton of relevant information throughout this course! Thanks for a great class! GO WHITE!
I wonder where social media will be in 10 years.
Thanks for a great semester in NMDL. I learned a lot! I was wondering if you had any recommendations on how I can utilize my powerpoint presentation when applying to fulltime jobs? I feel like it is a very valuable resource, but I'm unsure how I can incorporate it.
Didn't you land a fulltime job already? I think linking to your presentation slideshare from your personal site or blog is a good. You can also embed into your Linkedin profile.
Keep up the good work!
There was little about this video that surprised me in terms of 'facts' - for example, I am not surprised in the slightest that people would rather lose their sense of smell than be without techonology. It did surprise me (and gross me out) that more people own technology than a toothbrush - apparently people don't care about their teeth or overal oral hygenie either. But I guess that will be all okay when they're 35 years old with no teeth and no sense of smell because they won't be able to taste the liquid diet they are on. To be frank, it disgusts me how obsessed with cell phones people are - I'm not going to pretend that I don't love my own cell phone but I also enjoy genuine human interactions more. I hate that people believe it is okay to text/surf the internet and drive - I hate that people would rather deny my phone call and text me back 2 seconds later for something that could have been answered in 10 seconds or less - I hate that people are becoming so socially inedpt that they cannot hold a 10 minute conversation without pulling out their phone to show you something.... But haha, technology is great... great video! Haha :)
