As we come to Thanksgiving week, let's think about all we have to be thankful for. Our health, our families, going to a great school like Michigan State University. We should also be thankful for all the digital tools that make our lives easier.
The apps, the voice activated helpers, the websites, the social media, etc. Do you have a favorite app that you are grateful for or a favorite digital tool that improves your life?
I'm a big fan of TinyScanner - it allows me to scan documents and send them to people very easily over my phone. Also SignIt allows me to sign things and send over the phone. Life is easier w/ all these digital tools.
Comment on your favorite. Thanks and have a great Thanksgiving!

I am thankful for apps that allow me to connect with friends and family while I'm away at school. Sometimes it can be hard to be away from them for a long time. I would say Snapchat because it allows me to easily see picks of everyone important in my life.
This thanksgiving week I have a lot to be thankful for. I’m lucky enough to be spending this long holiday weekend at home with my step sisters home, my parents and my grandparents as well.
I'm thankful for the opportunity that my parents have provided me to study in MSU. Also they allows me to do what I'm interested in, advertising. Even my dad wants me to be major in business school at first time, after I talked with him, he allows me to be major in advertsing.
For my master degree, I'm thankful for getting offer this early to Chinese University of Hong Kong and major in new media. This is what I always wanted to do. I'm so thankful this year for all things I have received.
I’m the one who always make my lifestyle colorful, so there’re many apps I use frequently.
For example, Instagram. People post numerous pictures here and some of them are amazing. To be a traveler is the majority’s dream job, but the budget is too expensive. We don’t have enough time to do all we want to, but we can see others’ footprints on Ins.
Must mention that online shopping makes life much more convenient. I bought various products from different platforms. Sometimes, we cannot get the ideal product online, but it provides more choices to us. If I could not find something in nearby shops, I would search online to buy them.
Besides, there’re many other life-changing apps. Thanks for those developers and other staffs who contribute to make life better and easier!
Im not sure if there is a single app that I can say I love to use, but having the "Wallet" app for the IPhone is one of the best things ever. When I'm flying (which I do a lot) it allows me to skip all the lines, scan my phone, and away I go. No paper, no mess, nothing. It makes everything cleaner and easier and if I want to change my seat or upgrade I can do it all from the Airlines app. Another very crucial tool I use would be the converter tool. Although some are pretty simple and I'm just being lazy, there are some conversions that can't simply be done in my head. I am a huge car fanatic and converting MPH to KPH or vice cersa can be a challenge sometimes.
The app I'm thankful for is the Starbucks app. It's a part of my everyday life. I can easily use mobile order to order my drinks ahead of time and have it waiting for me for when I arrive to Starbucks. I can also use my phone to pay so I don't have to get out my wallet when I'm in line and I get "stars" which go towards rewards that I can then redeem for a free drink of any size (I always get the largest, venti) or a free food item.
As Thanksgiving comes around, this is I time to think about all the things we have been blessed with in this life. I would have to say that I am most thankful for my parents, family, and friends as they have continue to help me carve out the path for my future and continue to help support and be there for me. As far as apps go, I believe that venmo, navigation, and find my friends are the most handy apps that I use. Venmo has made splitting tabs at lunch or dinner with your friends so easy and find my friends has made you been able to locate your friends at the click of a button. My most useful app is the navigation though. I use this app almost everytime I get in the car and drive to a destination I have not been before. This app not only brings you to your destination but it has the ability to give you an estimated time and it can decipher if there is traffic or not. It is so useful for if there is road construction somewhere and it will lead you a faster route around it.
This thanksgiving I am thankful for my family for the support and opportunities they have provided for me to get a great education at MSU along with encouraging me to pull life and not let it push me through the motions. I am also thankful for my friends and my health, we all take for granted the people in our lives and our stability. This holiday season I am thankful for amazon for letting me sit in my bed and order Christmas presents so I don’t have to go black Friday shopping in Chicago. Also am thankful for the app Life sum which allows me to track what I am eating and burning to live a happier healthier life. Hope everyone has a wonderful holiday and spends quality time with people you do not get to see very often. Happy holidays!
The Thanksgiving is coming soon. I want to thankful my parents for giving me such a good opportunity to study in the United States. And I also want to thankful the app is Wechat. Every day I need to use this app to chat with friends or discuss learning. And I also could use the video function with my parents, with the existence of wechat, I do not feel lonely.
I am thankful for many people and many things, but the app I am most thankful for is probably venmo. I use venmo at least a few times per week and it makes my life a lot easier. Before venmo, I used to have to make a trip to the bank to get cash every single time I owed someone money, even just a few bucks. Venmo has been very convenient for the past couple of years since I first downloaded it.
As a senior, I am beginning to think more about everyone who has helped me get to where I am today. I am thankful for my parents, friend and puppy for helping me get through these four crazy years.
My favorite app right now is Skimm. This is an easy to use news app that give you a snap shot of what is happening in our world. I think it is important to stay informed and this app makes it easy for me on busy days.
Apps make our lives way easier and not to mention are super convenient. One of my favorite apps is Venmo. Before this app it was always really frustrating when you bought something for a friend or the other way around and had to get cash to pay them back. I personally never have cash on me so Venmo definitely made this a lot easier. Another app that I love is the Flipp app. It has coupons and ads for the sales going on at local stores. As a broke college student, this is great when making a grocery shopping list. I'm able to see what's on sale for the week and plan my meals around those things if possible.
I am really thankful for my families, friends and all kinds of technologys. My favorite app is wechat app and vsco app. We have to use wechat everyday to chat with my friends and look at their pictures, we can share our life woth my friends. Another app called vsco can give me really pictures and make me look pretty.
I am a heavy user of weather forecast app. Generally, in the beginning of a day, weather forecast app is the first thing I open in my phone. It lets me know what should I dress today. Therefore, I would say it is the most important app in my phone.
Another app that I use frequently is Line, a chat app. My family and friends in hometown are using this app to chat with each other. For me, it is the app that I use to keep in touch with them, and that’s the reason why it is so important to me.
I am thankful for the development of these technology which makes our life more convenient.
Thanksgiving, the time to give thanks to those we love both in terms of humans, animals and in the scenario, technology. Geez, where would I be without the Google Map App? Well I would not know, as Google would not tell me. I cannot remember the last time I carried an actual paper map and whenever I do see a person with a paper map, I wonder whether they are either very stubborn or slow on the technology side.
Another app which I love is Uber, as it has made it so convenient to get around. A downside to the app though, is that I do not get as much exercise.
Finally, my favorite app is Moves, which tells me how much I have moved in the day by walking, running or biking, and it allows me to set goals for myself and will "complain" if I do not make achieve them.
Honestly so thankful for venmo, it makes life easier. In addition my credit union's app is so convienient, which is the reason I even need venmo. I mean, who even carriesd cash now?
I am very greatful for my family, my friends, my girlfriend, going to MSU, being part of an organization I enjoy, and so much more. As for digital tools that make my life better, there's certainly a few that come to mind!
1. Ninite.com - For anyone who's ever set up a new computer, you know that downloading all the different programs you want (or even remembering which ones you want) can be stressful and take a very long time. Ninite makes this easier by listing all kinds of frequently downloaded programs arranged in categories. You can then check the box for each program you'd like, and when you're done Ninite will create a custom installer of every program you chose, install them simulatneously, and automatically decline all unnecessary optional features, default browser changes, toolbar changes etc.
2. Paint.net - This program provides all of the fundamental features of Photoshop, but for free! If you're doing professional photography work or highly complex digital editing of images you may want Photoshop because it's an industry standard, but otherwise I can nearly guarantee you won't find any major differences. For the low price of $0.00, it's worth it to see if Paint.net suits your needs before buying Photoshop.
3. ADV Screen Recorder - This is a mobile app on the Google Play Store (and possibly Apple Store) that enables you to easily take screen recording videos of any length, while simultaneously recording audio.
I'm grateful for Venmo which allows me to send money to whoever I need to and fast. I'm also really glad that something like Uber also exists. Every time I have to travel back home to Texas and I fly out I don't always have a friend that can take me to the airport and so Uber is very convenient for me. It's also great after a long night out!
I am thankful for the Dexcom app on my iPhone. Last year I was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes and at the beginning of this year I began taking insulin. Type 1 diabetes is an autoimmune disease that attacks the cells that make insulin. Type 2 diabetes is where your body becomes resistant to the insulin and the insulin no longer works effectively.
I maintain a strictly controlled low carbohydrate diet along with insulin injections to try and keep my blood sugar as close to 90 as possible. Most people have a normal blood sugar of 84. Anything below 80 is considered low and hypoglycemia - a dangerous condition that if it continues to fall it can result in unconsciousness, a coma or death. Higher than normal blood sugars will kill you too, but over a longer period of time resulting in amputations, kidney failure, risk of heart disease and strokes. The Dexcom is a bluetooth transmitter that is attached to your body with a needle that goes into your bloodstream. It then links to the iPhone and tells you what your blood sugar is every four minutes. This has helped me keep my blood sugar close to normal without suffering hypoglycemia. When I have had hypoglycemia I have been able to be proactive when my sugar reached 80 and eat some candy to raise it again before it gets dangerously low. This app hopefully will help me live longer so I can be around for my children and grandchildren. I am thankful for these medical breakthroughs as if it wasn't for the development of insulin in the twentieth century, I would not be alive now.
There are several applications that helped me a lot such as Outlook, Dropbox, and KakaoTalk. Those applications helped me building relationship with other people and also helped me to get into information easily.
It may sound boring, but I am thankful for my Capitol One app because it allows me to make payments right on time, and I can manage my spending, see how much and where I spend my money. I think that is very useful especially being a college student, and maybe not as mature with managing my money, this app really makes everything clear and easy.
While there are many applications that help me in a professional setting such as Outlook, DropBox, and Robinhood, the applications that I am most thankful for are the ones that support my passions and hobbies. These include apps such as Soundcloud, Tumblr, and VSCO. I have had a passion for music my entire life, and my bank account reflects that because of the (literally) over 100 concerts and festivals I have been to. Soundcloud sets itself apart from mainstream apps such as Apple Music and Spotify in the sense that many of the artists available on Soundcloud are not signed to record label, so there are many unique sounds. Tumblr is an app I have had since middle school, and it has been a fun way for me to express my thoughts through images. Lastly, VSCO is a picture editing app made up of beautiful preset filters that I use to support my occasional hobby of photography.
My favorite app would have to be between Twitter and Snapchat. Twitter because there is always cool stuff to retweet or very funny things on my timeline I feel like you have to follow the right people to enjoy Twitter to its full potential. People on my timeline always talk about how the app shouldn't be free because it has so much good content on it. I enjoy Snapchat because I'm watching people that I know or my favorite celebrities. I don't get on Snapchat as much as I used to but I love when people are in different states or countries and I can watch their Snapchats and basically experience it as well. I love when I'm unable to go to a concert and someone I'm friends with on Snapchat records the entire concert from beginning to end. The filters that Snapchat has now makes the app more enjoyable as well. Have a great Thanksgiving everyone!
I am thankful for my family and friends. They always support me with smile.
For the apps I would say "KAKAO TALK", it is Korean app which is message app. Though out Kakao Talk, I could voice talk and face talk very easily. Without any cost. I am thankful with development of the digital tool.
First of all, I am thankful for my family and friends. For apps, my favorite app is Instagram. I can post images and content on the Instagram. If I want to share something to my friends and family, I can use Instagram. And also I can see other people’s life from Instagram. So I love it.
I’m always thankful for my parent, my family and my friends. I’m always glad they never leave me alone and be my side forever. In the digital world, I would love to say thanks to the cell phone, the Instagram, YouTube and the WeChat. I’m very thankful that we have these apps and technology to make our live more colorfu. I never feel boring with these apps and I believe they bring us convince.
I am thankful for my family and friends who are always supporting me. For the app, I like to use “band”. Since I am an international student from Kroea, I can’t really know what my family are doing in Korea. However, this app let me to upload the posts (photos, videos, etc.) on our family band (page) so that I can know what they are doing in Korea. Also, I sometimes upload my life on the band to let my family know what I am doing in Michigan.
I'm thankful for my family, friends, and every kind face in MSU. In digital world, I should be thankful for Adobe programs especially Adobe PS and AI. Years ago, I think designers are artists who have been learning sketching since a young age. But with Adobe softwares, even though I'm terrible at drawing, I can still be a graphic designer.
Throughout my college experience I have been thankful for Spotify. I'm someone who can't stand uncomfortable silence, so I always have music or a podcast playing. Spotify lets me take my favorite artists with me wherever I go. Whether it's the walk to class or late-night study session, I would be completely lost without music. I also love their discover weekly playlists. It finds lesser known artists and songs that I inevitably love.
I am a large "Do-it-youselfer" so Pinterest is my go-to! It has so many project and fun things to do.
Several times I have done Pinterset inspired decoations for my room and gifts for my parents. It makes life a whole lot easier. I have also bought many things from "Pinterest" so to speak. Well, pinterest inspired, it brings me straight to the desired website like Etsy. I love etsy. People made crafts that are one of a kind.
I'd have to say the most helpful app for me is the Kindle app. I like to read and not having to tote around a book is nice. Especially when I am traveling because I do not have to keep track of it.
I'm extraordinarily thankful for my family and friends, especially those I've gotten to know in my time here at Michigan State University. I'm happy I'll be able to get away for a week and see my extended family over the holiday break. I'm an avid music listener, and Spotify is an app I always have to have up to date, as I always have a pair of headphones in my pocket.
First of all, I am very grateful to my family and friends and teachers. For the App, my favorite is WeChat. In China, WeChat has changed an era. It enriches and convenient for our lives and exchanges. You can voice and video with others in anywhere and anytime. In China, if you go out with a mobile phone as long as you have WeChat, you can consume in anywhere. And there are many other extended practical APP is very convenient for people's lives in Wechat.
One of the apps I am most grateful for would have to be LinkedIn. The fact that I am graduating at the end of the year has made the search for a full-time job one of my main focuses. By working through linked in it has made it extremely easy for me to: get in touch with recruiters, network with my peers, and even find out more information about potential interviewers. LinkedIn has also made it easier for me to keep up to date with the relevant happenings of my field. Since downloading LinkedIn, I have felt more organized and connected to my field as a whole.
I am extremely thankful for my friends and family and all of the support they give me. I would say other than social media apps, the app I am most thankful for is spotify. I listen to music almost 24/7. Whether that be walking to class, doing homework, or even just in my free time, music helps me relax and spotify makes listening to music so easy. I also have found that Group Me has been a reliable app throughout my college career. As a member of different clubs and group projects finding a way to reliably communicate with a lot of people can be difficult. Group Me makes it easy to connect with more people, and through a more reliable source.
I am very thankful for a few of the meditation apps I own. It always can get stressful for me sometimes around the holidays, but with some apps such as "Calm" or "Insight Timer", they can help me fall asleep faster or get my mind off of things that make me stressed or anxious such as christmas shopping. They also offer various moving backgrounds that are super soothing and offer real nature sounds with them as well. Some of these apps even provide bedtime stories, and reminders to keep on schedule with your meditating habits each and every day. Much to be thankful for this time of year.
Since Thanksgiving is around the corner I am really thankful for my family and friends. Even though social meida is a great aspect for all types, the most important and what I'm thankful is Instagram and Linkedin simply because I am a photograhper/videograhper, and instagram allows me to express my art to who ever I want and receive feedback from others, and that is a great feeling, lastly Linkedin becasue I am a senor graduating in December and likedin allows to me to expand my thoguhts on where I would like to work at and some ideas also to connect with others.
Dropbox all the way! Since I work in design, I have an insane number of high quality files. And, being a freelance social media manager, these files need to be available on every device at any given time; ready to post or share with my audience or employers. The internet never sleeps, am I right?
Dropbox makes it incredibly simple to organize, access, and share these files at any moment. Of course, I could use a cheaper cloud storage system but I really like that I never have to worry about space with Dropbox. It's universal and I have a terabyte of space. When collaborating with others, most know how to use Dropbox or can easily figure it out in a few minutes. So cheers to YOU, Dropbox. You've saved my ass, many a time.
I'm thankful that I am able to keep in contact with my family while I'm away from school through my phone in general. If I were to have a favorite app or digital tool I think it wolud be Adobe Illustrator on my iPad. I spend so much time on that thing and it was totally free to download.
Hello Zack, I also have a favorite which is Lightroom, even though I have to pay for it every month but I really enjoy it alot, it allows me to practice and brush up my editing skills as a photographer, Im thankful that our devices give us the opportunity to express our talents on the go.
TinyScanner seems like a pretty cool app. When I was in Puerto Vallarta a few years ago, I used an app (I forget the name) to scan signs and labels in spanish and convert it on-sreen into english for me. This was about three or four years ago, so the technology even then was pretty impressive for mobile. I spent about $20, but it saved me countless times when I was on the road, in a city, or store. A current app I use is Wunderlist. It takes the place of a paper planner or having to put things in your phone's notes that, let's be honest, you probably won't check anyway. Wunderlist is cool cause it prioritizes your tasks for you, so you can get the things that matter most done first. It's awesome.
Yes, I am thankful for social media and apps that make my life easier and help me connect with family and friends that do not live close to me. I would say I have not one but two favorite apps. My two favorite apps are Maps and Instagram. Without maps I am not sure what I would do. The only other option I can think of is googling directions and printing them. With the app Maps on my iPhone it makes my life more easier. My other favorite app Instagram helps me to connect with family and friends that do not live close to me. Especially my family because we are spread all over the United States. I love seeing others photos and enjoy posting photos as well. Also, Instagram keeps me up to date with the new arrivals of all of my favorite boutiques which is another plus!
I have a number of things that I am grateful in the tech world. First and foremost: Google SmartLock. I have all Google products and it is so awesome to have my computer and phone both automatically know all of my passwords. Then of course the Google Maps app saves my life at least once a week. Using the search along route function allows me to find the most convenient stops to make on my trip.
There are a few apps that have truely made my daily life easier in my opinion. The top three apps that I would say have had a large impact on my daily life are uber, venmo, and the maps app from apple. Uber has made my life easier because it has made it so I do not have to depend on cab drivers who may not always been the cheapest of the most quickest option available. Venmo has made my life easier because it has completely negated the aspect of having to have cash on you at all times. I am personally not a big fan of having cash on me so it is nice to be able to just venmo people whenever we split food, drinks, etc. Lastly, the maps of apple make my life easier purely for navigation, I never have to depend on a gps that may not be current on all raods and I will never get lost anywhere as long as my phone is charged.
The apps I'm most thankful for are: GoogleMaps, Uber and Venmo. All of these apps make it easier for me to get places and pay for things. I didn't realize how influencial these apps are in my everyday life until I wasn't able to use them. When my GoogleMaps didn't work at the beginning of this year, I found it difficult to navigate the area without having directions as a safeguard. Also, this summer when I studied abroad in Italy, Uber was illegal so we had to use transportation such as taxis, the bus and tram to get around, which was especially hard in a foreign country. At Michigan State especially, I personally rely on Uber a lot to get me from place A to place B. Lastly, although I could live without venmo, it's an app that makes it easier to pay for bills and pay friends back. Tools like being able to request money from users allows you to remind them in a more direct way. All of these apps make it easier to navigate, whether it be through directions or paying.
I really thank social media appearing in my life. Michigan is really cold in winter. I'm really thankful that we have those food delivery APPs. So I can have the warm dinner even in the cold winter. And for the social media like WeChat, I can communicate with my friends, which help me, as an international student, chatting with my friends in China. So I really thank those social media that make my lifes up.
Speaking of app. there is an app I use everyday that is Weichat. In China, almost everyone has Weichat because some apps are blocked in China so Weichat has most people use of it. It just likes Messager and facebook in one app! You can use it to call or facetime and you also can share interesting pictures or things you like. Because everyone has it so it is so convenient to use. And that is an app I always thankful it can help me connect with my parents and share pictures with them and also can use it talk with my friends whether they are in China or in other countries. But not everyone can visit your account only people on your friend list I think it is more private and I can share things just for people I want them to see.
I really like the social media with Instagram. Every time when I was boring in the daily life, I would look about the Instagram. There are a lot of funny videos and I can know the newest lookbooks for my favarite brands. And also, I can communicate with my friends in Instagram. We share the photos with each other. So I really thank Instagram a lot.
There are many apps that I use every day and they are usually social apps such as Instagram, Facebook, or Snapchat. However, if there is one thing I know I could never live without, it would be the Google Maps app. I know that I would be lost without Google Maps to give me directions, whether it be a 15 minute car ride, or a 10 hour road trip. I live in New York when I'm not at MSU, and Google Maps is not limited to car directions, but offers directions for walking, busses, and even gives the bus schedules. Living in New York does not mean planning around your brunch time, it means planning around transportation and the commute to where you're trying to get to, so google maps is always open in my phone.
My personal favorite app is MyFitnessPal. Unlike other meal-tracking apps, MyFitnessPal displays nutrient values of different foods, which is a great way to make sure I'm reaching all of my vitamin needs. As a vegetarian, this can be difficult at times. It also helps me keep my calories in check, and allows me to better gauge my food choices!
