OK students, it's time to come clean. We all know Michigan State University is a wonderful place to be. But I'm curious, what makes it amazing for you? Is it the great classes, the campus, sports teams, fraternities or sororities, friends? Comment on this post and tell me why you feel MSU rocks.
I can tell you, I love many things about MSU. Campus in the Spring is amazing. The Football games are so much fun to attend, and I really like being a part of the Spartan Family. And tonight MSU should beat Purdue in basketball. Let's Go Green!
Comments & Feedback
Michigan State University was never where I wanted to attend college. I knew it was too big for me, and I never had any interest in learning about State. However, my parents were dead set on me attending here and insisted that I at least tour the campus. My dad brought me here for the first time two years ago and I instantly fell in love. With that being said, I love Michigan State's gorgeous campus and now, so much more. I especially love the sports here at MSU and the fact that it's a well known, respected college. I love the friends that I've made here in East Lansing, and surprisingly I even love the classes that I take here. It's crazy to think how a school that was last on my list has quickly taken the number one spot, and I wouldn't have it any other way. I pretty much have come to love everything that Michigan State has to offer, and it was the best decision I've made.
I came strictly from an ALL Michigan Wolverines family and believe me it has not been easy crossing over at all. I transferred to MSU for their awesome KIN program which is top in the nation. I never thought I would fall in love with this school and campus like I did. I am a huge sports fan and being a Spartan gives me so much pride. Going to basketball games and cheering in the IZZONE! Is one of the best feelings ever. When you are a Spartan you are part of a HUGE family who loves their school and loves to show it. I love our campus in the spring time and once football season starts I can’t wait to tailgate. Most of all I think our alumni program is great and I find Spartans all over the country willing to help a fellow Spartan out. GO GREEN!!!!
There are many aspects to Michigan State University that makes it personally amazing. Over the past three and a half years attending MSU, I have met some of the greatest people in my life. I have made new best friends in addition to the ones I grew up with back home. In addition, MSU has allowed me to learn more about my future career in advertising. The classes offered in the advertising curriculum are all very informational and definitely make an positive impact on my learning. Michigan State Univeristy has prepared me for my future!
Michigan State's campus is one of the most beautiful that i have been to. The trees, old buildings, river, everything. I love how it can seem big at times, and completely small at others. I love the way red cedar looks during the fall, winter, and spring. That river just cant look bad. Even though it's cold, i have never seen something as beautiful as MSU during the winter.
Another thing i love about MSU is football, duh. Football season is my favorite time of year. And i'm not one that just loves to tailgate. For me, it's getting to the gates before they open to ensure good seats for the Spartans.
The biggest thing that makes me love MSU is my major. Professional Writing is a small major, and it feels like a family. The professors are also your advisors, who are also the chair of the department. They really care about your success, and you're not just another number to them. I couldn't be happier than where i am now, at Michigan State University.
I love everything about Michigan State. Saturday morning's during football season, walking to class on a Spring day, meeting up with friends at the Peanut Barrel, etc. However, my favorite thing about MSU is the fact that we are a family. Wherever you go, you will always meet another Spartan and you have an instant connection. I was abroad this past summer and we had an MSU flag and would take it out wherever we were and would take pictures with it. We were at the Trevi Fountain and our group was posing with the flag and we heard someone yell "GO GREEN!" and without any hesitation we yelled back "GO WHITE!" Halfway around the world and we still managed to run into a fellow spartan. The unity and spirit we have is incomparable and something I will treasure for the rest of my life.
For the past three years that I have attended MSU I have had a few favorite things about this place. The big reason I chose this school was because of the athletic programs that are here. Being such a big sports fan I love watching the Spartans in action. Living right on M.A.C is another positive of MSU. The walk to campus with the blossoming tress in the spring makes the walk a little better. Tailgating is definitely my favorites though. Being around friends and family and enjoying the weather is something I always look forward to doing. I can’t wait to come back in later years and pretend to be a college student again.
As many people have said before me, this is a hard question because there are so many things I love about MSU. One of my favorite things though is the draw that MSU has on people. Yes, we have nearly 50,000 students here but there are also an enormous amount of visitors that each one of these students gets each day. My friends love coming to visit me at MSU because they know that they are guaranteed an awesome time. Even die-hard UofM fans can't resist a good weekend at MSU. It feels good to go to a school that others envy and want to spend time at with you.
I also love being a part of the business school. Each of my professors have made a distinct point to make each and every student in Eli Broad feel exceptional and elite. We are told nearly every day that we are it, the cream-of-the-crop business students of our generation, and that we are the leaders of our respected majors. It feels good to have so many amazing professionals think so highly of me and my classmates. It lets me know that they always have my back and truly believe we will all be great in the business world.
Another thing I have come to love about MSU is the proximity of resources. Anything I need is within approximately a 3 mile radius around me at all times. Grand River ave. is bursting with stores and restraunts and you never have to look far for a QD for a quick coffee or liquor purchase. Campus is nestled into one specifc area, and everything else lies just across the street. I don't think it gets any better than that.
The question what makes Michigan State University amazing to me is quite difficult due to the fact that I arrived one and a half month ago. First of all I have to say that I love being an exchange student here at MSU. Michigan State has one of the biggest exchange programs in the US and I got to know a lot of different people from different nations. Furthermore the University has a very good reputation and interesting history. Next to that I really love the campus. Although there are long ways to go to classes, I really enjoy walking around. Still the most favorite thing about this University is being part of a big Spartan family. I really feel that I am part of something bigger here. Especially the basketball team is pretty good. I myself played basketball in the second league in the Netherlands and I tried to get on the Spartans team, but unfortunately I twisted my ankle twice the last 3 month so I am not able to play in this semester. Still I love to go to the games and really look forward to the MSU vs. UM game.
I love the MSU Campus. Ever since I first came to MSU as a student I have tried exploring every bit of this enormous campus. There are so many nice trails to go walking down through the woodlands and by the river. Plus the amount of open grass in the heart of the campus is just amazing. I love going to the main block of campus right between the east and west bound shaw roads. There is a path with benches that can see almost every big building. I sit there and watch the thousands of students walk to their classes, some in a hurry, others just moseying their way down the sidewalk. The multitude of conversations going on at once is just mind blowing. And a few minutes later the campus is quiet as a national park. Everyone to their next class and even the streets are bare of cars. From ordered chaos to stunningly absent, this campus is beautiful in every aspect.
My favorite thing about MSU is it's size. I love that it is a huge university, maybe it's because I come from a very small town. I loving meeting new people every year in different classes. I love the amazing people I have met from students to professors and advisors. I love my classes i find them really interesting, by this I mean my advertising classes. I also love the scenery in the fall with the colorful trees and the squirls and the ducks. I also like the flexibility of being able to choose your classes at times that best fit you.
That's a hard question to answer--because there are so many amazing things about this university. I love campus in the fall, I loved the feeling I got kick-stepping out of the tunnel for my first football game as a member of the Spartan Marching Band, and I love the MSU Dairy Store, the way campus looks, and its history. However, I suppose my FAVORITE part about Michigan State University is, as you mentioned, the fact that you're a part of a big Spartan family. Because I decided to go here, I feel like I'm part of something bigger than myself-- a legacy of green and white enthusiasts all over the world. I mean, I guess it helps that I come from a family of Spartans, but still.
It's that feeling that you get when you yell "Go Green" at someone wearing an MSU hat in the airport, or when you nod at someone with an alumni sticker on their car. Being a Spartan brings people together, and that's my favorite part of this university.
My favorite thing about MSU is the help from professors and faculty within my major of Professional Writing. The faculty is so involved and REALLY wants us to succeed. I don't think I could have picked a better major for myself. There are classes that that we can take that are actually focused on us finding a job after graduation. The faculty and professors give us so many resources, after-class office hour help, and even give us the opportunity of networking. Without PW, I think my MSU experience wouldn't have been the same.
I have been a spartan for seven years now. I received my bachelors in 2010 and just could not get enough of MSU, so back I came for a graduate degree. My two experiences have been moderately different. Undergrad was full of tons of friends and fun. Graduate school has been a bit more reserved.
I love everything about MSU but I espicially love MSU in the fall. This is because it isnt -12 degrees the entire semester and there is always something going on. From football games to taking trips to the cider mill with friends and people actually wanting to be outside it all adds up to a great college experience. I do think my favorite thing during the fall semester is the football games. All the spartans come together and the campus is invaded with a lot of spirit.
One of my favorite things about MSU is how diverse it is. I come from a town with very little diversity, so it was an awesome change to come here and get a taste of many different cultures. I also like how big the campus is. That's typically something that turns people away from MSU, but I like knowing that there are so many different people and different things to do so you rarely ever get bored.
Everyone as MSU welcomes you in with open arms. Students always come together and welcome new people into the Spartan family. I came here as a transfer student last semester from Lansing Community College and was worried about not feeling as welcome coming in as a junior as opposed as coming in as a freshman. However when I came it felt like I had gone here for my whole college career. That's why I love MSU and could not be happier with my university choice. I also love having advertising as my major, and all of the ad classes I am taking reassure me that I made the right choice!
When I first decided to come to MSU, i was going to come in as a marketing major. I heard about great program of MSU's marketing major. As I started my college life in MSU, many people commented that I went to a good school and I was proud of it.
Also, I don't have much knowledge in sports, but i am now interested in football and basketball for sure. Our school rocks at both of those sports. Few years ago, when I was back in my home country, Korea, I went to the American Embassy to get a visa, I was getting an interview with a person who gives visa. He asked few questions and he asked what school I go to, and I answered: MSU. He seemed to know MSU and he commented about how good we are at football. Then he went "Oh, Spartans! Go Green!" and I answered him back "Go White!" I went out the door proud in myself.
In addition, I like the great view of our campus. When I was a freshmen, it seemed just so extensive; however, since I know the campus now, i can only say that it is beautiful. I took some pictures with my friends who are going to graduate after this semester, and I reaized how pretty of our campus is.
At last, as I came to MSU, I met most amazing friends that I could ever get. They are always right by me whenever I need them. I thank MSU for that!:)
I love Mhichgan State University in spring season, and it is my favorite season. The time with falling petals is only time that I thank to big big campus. Actually I don't like sports at all, don't watch any game. So it is a sad thing that I'm attending at very good sports school. Another thing is diverse education experience. If you search little bit, you can find very new classes that you never think.
My favorite thing about MSU has to be the athletic teams. I am originally from Chicago so choosing to come to Michigan State was a rather large commitment for me. I know this sounds stupid but I basically chose MSU because of Tom Izzo. I loved watching our basketball teams growing up especially the Flintstones from 2000. Eventually my love for MSU extended to the football and hockey teams because I played those sports growing up. MSU has had great success in athletics the best decade so immediately I assumed MSU was associated with great things. I also loved the way Izzo represents the university with so much pride and class. After eventually learning more I really thought that MSU would give me the tools to succeed in life. Once I took a visit and saw the campus I was sold. This place is so beautiful and everyone here is so hard working and proud of MSU. It really has the family atmosphere here and everyone I met here has been an amazing. I love MSU and I would never have gone anywhere else.
My favorite thing about MSU is it's size. When deciding with school I wanted to go to, I toured a few smaller ones. They just aren't the same. I wanted a campus where thousands of people were studying. I wanted a school with athletics to be proud of around the country. I loved that MSU is known world-wide. So even when I was in Rome this past summer, wearing and MSU shirt, I got comments on it. Employers know that MSU graduates top scholars prepared for the workforce, and we gain this experience from all that MSU has to offer, and it can offer all this because it's so large.
My favorite thing about Michigan State University is by far the great sense of pride I feel from being a Spartan. I'm not sure what it is about this university, but I never expected to feel this kind of allegiance to my college. Whether it's State football, hockey, or basketball, I jump at every chance I can to go see them play and show off my Spartan pride. I also follow news that comes out of the university about findings or achievements our students or faculty have been recognized for, even if their field of work isn't interesting to me. I put Spartan stickers on my truck and logos on my hats, clothing, and even golf club covers. I own jerseys for State football, basketball, and am in the process of buying a hockey jersey as well. Before college, I couldn't have cared less for college allegiances; fast forward four years and I'm one of the biggest State fans I know. GO GREEN!
The thing I love MSU most is its harmonious atmosphere around campus, whether the students on campus who are so passionate for Sparty culture and crazy for football game, or the faculty work on campus who are never lose temper to serve. Most importantly, people here would love to help those who get into trouble. I still remeber the first time I arrived here, I did not have a car. I had a test on campus on the first weekend. I had no idea that the Cata bus does not run on the same frequency as on week days. I felt so desperate and almost planned to quit that test until I saw a car. At that time, I almost started running on the road without knowing the exact location of the test building, a car drove by me and noticed my desparing running on a road, it stopped and reversed to me, the lady driving the car asking if I need any help. She was so kindhearted that she drove me to the right place without knowing who I was. During the conversation, I knew she was a faculty in Administration Department and from then on I think, people of MSU are really really nice. They have big heart and willing to trust people.
The best thing about State is probably the love kids have for it. There's a ton of pride at other schools but people from Michigan are proud as hell of their state and the kids who are lucky enough to go here are even more passionate about their school. I have friends at Grand Valley, Ohio State, Depaul, Missouri, USC and none of them compare. Every time those kids have come to visit they're always blown away by the community and friendly atmosphere we have. I think that's heavily supported by being proud of what we're all doing here. It's a lot of work and a lot of work hard play hard. Kids work their ass off all week just to have to dopest weekend. It's ritual here and it's not like that everywhere else. People see that, recognize it, appreciate it and embrace it. It's like no where else and at the end of the day thats what I'm into the most.
I am so glad I chose to come to such an amazing university. Not only have I made lifelong friends, but the memories I have made here will never be forgotten.
Many of my favorite moments were sitting in the student section for all 4 years at every home football game. Not to mention some amazing wins, like a victory against Notre Dame with a Hail Mary! Even though I have only been to a handful of basketball games, they are still so much fun to watch on TV. Our Izzone section is full of life and energy and it is awesome to watch our team and fans’, knowing that is my school.
I am also very lucky to be a Supply Chain major, because MSU has the #1 Supply Chain Management program in the nation! The best recruits come out to our Career Fair wanting us to work for them because we are Spartans! That is a great feeling and I am so happy with my decision of studying SCM. I also joined a co-ed business fraternity, Phi Chi Theta, were I have not only grown as a person, but have met so many friends and people who I network with.
Just last week I was in the Dominican Republic wearing a MSU shirt. It is a great feeling to hear "Go Green", even when I was in another country. Being apart of MSU was the best choice of my life and I will always be a Spartan! No one can quite understand what a great university MSU is, unless they have lived here in East Lansing.
I love almost every aspect of Michigan State University, but my favorite thing is our campus in the fall. With the buzz in early september of all the students coming back and new ones coming in, the beauty of campus with all of the leaves changing colors, the excitement of football games on saturdays, the waking up at the crack of dawn to tailgate on my fraternities front lawn, the experience really can't be beat. There is just a certain energy in the air on those saturday mornings in the fall that just makes you bleed green out of every pore in your body that is just so exciting.
I love Michigan State for so many reasons, it is hard to pick a few! But, if I must, I would say my favorite part of MSU so far is the sport aspect. I love going to football games, basketball games, hockey games, etc. I have had so much fun so far participating in these games. Tailgate season for football is my favorite. My parents come up for some of the games from Chicago and we always have a blast. I am in a sorority, so tailgates are always fun with my best friends, too! I have met so many amazing people, especially the DG girls, and I know that I will have these girls as a part of my life forever!!
For me, Michigan State University has opened many doors for me both academically and socially. I first entered MSU with an undecided major, not 100% sure what I wanted to do with my life. Testing out many different classes that first semester was a great way for me to get a feel for things I liked, and definitely didn't like. After declaring my advertising major, I have grown through the program since. I am now a TA for a professor in the comm arts college, who helped push me to achieve a National Addy Award as well as a design internship this Spring.
In addition to the great faculty and programming, I love the spartan marching band. It has been the all-encompassing 'best part' of Michigan State for me since day 1. I have met amazing people and had such great experiences along the way. I truly am proud to be called a Spartan.
I love MSU for many reasons, football games in the fall and basketball in the winter, how beautiful campus looks in the spring, but the biggest reason why I love MSU is because I grew up a Spartan and I will always stay a Spartan. What makes MSU so amazing to me is that no matter where you go you will always meet a fellow Spartan. I was once waiting for my flight at the Minneapolis airport wearing my Michigan State sweatshirt and someone yelled out to me "Go Green" and I naturally yelled "Go White" back. Michigan State is a school that you will carry with you and be proud of for the rest of your life, and that is pretty awesome to me.
Go Green!
MSU is just an awesome place to be. The people here rock and there is just a strong bond here between everyone. Football games are probably what I love most, though. Between tailgating and the excitement of each game, they are the best- especially when the weather is nice! I have met lifelong friends here and I have no doubt that these years will be some of the best of my life.
I love Michigan State. For me it makes the sucky winters here in Michigan more bearable. During my time here at State, I've come to love so much about it, the sports, the comraderie, the great bars, the elegant beauty of campus in the fall, it's all more than I can sit here and name.
But hands down, my favorite thing about Michigan State has to be the poeple I have met along the way. When I first got here, my teachers were nice, and I had awesome classmates (minus the few duds that everyone has to get). And after being here for a while, I made a network of friends that I will take with me where ever I go. MSU has helped me to create new and lasting bonds, and that is what I will remember most fondly when I graduate.
Unlike many MSU students, I transferred here halfway through my sophomore year. I never had the experience of living in the dorms or gaining my freshmen fifteen because of the unlimited cafeteria food. I have yet to decide if that was a good decision or bad one on my part. I enjoyed saving a ton of money by living at home my first year of college, but I also think I missed out on a lot of opportunities to meet new people. But having been here only two and a half years, I love the campus and classes the most. East Lansing truly is a college town and I love how connected everyone is to each other, even if they don’t necessarily know one another personally. I look forward to always being a Spartan and having those green and white roots no matter where my career takes me. I have nothing but positive things to say about the education I’ve received in the advertising program. I feel like I am well prepared and ready to take on whatever comes my way after graduation. I know how fortunate I am to have been given this chance, and I therefore think that the professors I’ve had are the best thing to come out of my years at Michigan State University.
The absolute best thing about Michigan State University for me is the atmosphere. The fact that the campus is separate from the surrounding towns makes it feel like its a place made only for people our age. As opposed to commuter schools or schools that are interconnected with the cities they're in, Michigan State is like a separate world where everyone is pretty young and willing to go out and meet new people and have new experiences. It is the easiest place to make new friends and everyone in the community is connected by a common bond.
Wow.. well this will take a little second lol. When I first came to Michigan State, I was not sold. I was essentially the only person of my kind. I didn't really fit in. I still don't exactly fit in. I am a Music Major, so I REALLY don't fit in with the crod of students that that in my classes. I mean let's face it, I am an openly gay, well-dressed individual. Nothing says Music major about that lol. I have been receiving a large scholarship for Music, so that's what initially attracted me to MSU. My sister went here as well, so I already knew what campus was like. My freshman year, I got a job at MSU Greenline, got my roommate to move out since I really needed a single, and made some pretty good friends. Even though I was still not sold, I just made MSU my own. I know I am extremely diverse, and I have just made my experience my own I guess. I was really considering transfering to Berklee school of Music my sophomore year, but I just really considered my options. And honestly, MSU Greenline kept me here. I have made some of my best friends at my workplace, and it has put in contact with so many employers for after graduation. Overall, I have enjoyed my journey here, and I hope that other students see the true value in being a Spartan!
The thing I love most abou Michigan State is our sports teams, specifically football and basketball. We are very lucky to have two great coaches in Dantonio and Izzo and have seen our programs flourish. I love tailgating and going to football games in the fall and watching basketball games with friends. Finally, seeing the basketball team make and play in the tournament is always very exciting.
Honestly Im not big sports fan, I didnt come here for any other reason than the education. But while being here I have fallen in love with the beautiful campus. The friends I have made, and the hard work and dedication I have put in here the past three years. Besides falling in love with the campus' beauty, I have had the opportunity to meet so many different kinds of people with different cultures, backgrounds, ideas, and opportunities. Gaining that insight and broadening my understanding and knowledge through communication has been my most treasured experience.

Michigan State University is a great school. I am glad I made the choice to come here. This is my last semester and I am quite sad to leave. One of my favorite things is the guest speakers that come to campus. Many small schools don't get the privelage of having such inspirational and interesting people visit. I wish I had taken advantage more of this and attended more events and guest speakers. Another great thing about MSU is the spartan network. I feel like anywhere I go, if I see someone wearing an MSU shirt, there is an instant connection there. My very favorite thing about MSU is the student body. The people here are overall very nice and easy-going. :)
There are just so many things that are great about Michigan State. One of my favorite things is the campus in the fall. The leaves are beautiful, the smell in the air is fresh and clean, and of course it is the season for tailgating. Tailgating makes fall even more beautiful. It brings the entire body of Spartans together; young, old, alumni, students, future spartans. It is one aspect that makes MSU a unique experience, it's not everyday you can wake up with your family, eat barbeque food and have a beer in your hand at 7am. Michigan State is a wonderful place and will always have many memories in my heart. I hope to bring my children up here for the MSU tailgates, and activities that are always going on here.
MSU has been my home for four years now and even before that. My parents met here and my older sister went here. I guess you could say we bleed green. I am a big MSU Sports fan, but Football would be my favorite. Been going to the football and tailgating for 10 plus years. Almost every single home game. I love the campus in fall the best. I love the trees and the red cedar. My American Advertising Federation club has been the best experience here and I have met the best people from it and I have met my best friends at this school.
Just overall a great place!
I was raised to be a Spartan and would not have it anyother way. When I came to MSU I fell in love even more! Growing up it was the football and basketball teams that helped me stay attached to the university, after becoming a Spartan my self it was the community and network of spartans that really made me proud to be a Spartan. I love the environment during the day and night at Michigan State, its the perfect balance of work hard play hard. Michgan State was voted one of the top campuses for weather during the spring and fall and we all have seen that.
There are a million reasons why I love MSU, so it's hard to narrow it down to just one. My favorite thing about MSU is the comradery among the students, the staff and even the people in the East Lansing/Lansing community--the fact that you can yell "GO GREEN!" anywhere, any time and someone is guaranteed to reply with a "GO WHITE!" It's a pretty amazing thing to be surrounded by 48,000 people, and even though you don't know them personally, you know you all share a common bond. My favorite time of year to be at MSU is the fall. There is nothing more beautiful than MSU's campus in the fall. Football games, tailgates, and a new school year bring about a feeling of excitement that is unparalleled.
Michigan State is amazing to me because of the friends I have met. I came to Michigan State as the only person from my high school and didn't know anyone here besides one person that was 3 years older than me. Luckily, I had an experience not many people are fortunate to have; I met all of my best friends in my freshman dorm. Every girl on my floor became quick friends and, four years later, we are still so close. Also, we met our guy friends who lived the floor above us and, with a few additions of course, they still make up our main group of friends. The experiences I have had with these people have made my college experience more than I ever thought possible.
While I could go on for days about why I love Michigan State, there is that one thing that I sometimes think to myself, "I LOVE THAT". And that would be St. Patty's day. And yes, the shenanigans and the tomfoolery during the festivities get better and better each year, but that's not why I love it. I think a goal of anyone's college career should be reaching out and connecting with all different kinds of people. Over the years, I have seen how my group of friends has evolved and grown over the past four years. Gatherings like St.Patty's day amaze me. I'll look around and see a giant group of people from different cities, states, countries all enjoying each others company, and having way more fun for a group with a considerably low Irish heritage should be. The camadarerie of this great group of people is what I am going to remember 10 years from now, not that one time I did really bad on such and such exam or how I got screwed over by P.A.C.E. every single week of my life. I'm going to remember the days like this where regardless of what was going on in our respective lives, we could all come together and spend a day making memories that we still laugh and talk about to this day- and for that, I love it.
I fell in love with MSU when I was sophomore in High school. I loved the environment and it was something about the community that was unlike any other college campus I had visited around the time. MSU was the only school in Michigan that I applied to and I was overjoyed to attend. As a senior, I have come to love the campus even more every year. I have to say spring is definietely the most beautiful time to walk around campus; all the trees, the Red Cedar river and all the flowers makes you forget you're even on a college campus.
I really love the community at MSU, we're all a big family and going to the football games and other social events makes me proud to be a Spartan.
Go Green!
I have so many reasons why I love MSU. The campus is beautiful and has great architecture. When I was a freshmen, I stayed in West Circle, specifically Yakely, which had the older architecture with stained glass windows. I made a lot of great friends at MSU, Greek and non-Greek and was able to expose myself to so many different types of people that I would not have had I stayed close to home. My entire family went to UofM Ann Arbor and I never felt a connection to the school and its campus. When I toured MSU, I felt an immediate connection and truly loved the people that went there. I do not think I would have had the same experience at another school. I love how fellow MSU students and graduates are welcoming and fun. Everyone on campus always seemed genuinely happy to be there. I love MSU basketball and football. There is always so much hype and you cannot help but to get caught up in it. The study abroad program is excellent as I had the opportunity to study and work abroad in London. MSU has so many growth opportunities and I feel like I will always be a part of it.
There are many reasons why I love MSU. My biggest one is the Sports. I grew up with season tickets to Michigan State basketball so I have ben going to the basketball games since I was a child. I enjoyed how all the students would cheer in sync and everyone always showed a huge love for their hometown team. Another reason is the way that MSU is a community. Many of the professors are always willing to go the extra length to help you with school, work or internship things. MSU tailgating is always amazing as well. Getting everyone together, friends and family, is a great way to celebrate the MSU football games. I have always gone tailgating with my friends and family and have always enjoyed the way everyone comes together to cheer on MSU.
I transfered to MSU in the fall of 2011 from Madonna University and it was one of the greatest decisions I've ever made. What's not to love about this university? Tailgating with everyone and going to the football games on Saturdays during the fall is always a great time. Basketball games at the Breslin. The campus is beautiful (especially in the fall and winter). The night life is great-bars and parties. I've met many great friends since transfering here, and I think its just the the whole college life expereince of living here. There is so much I've expereinced but at the same time, so much I still want to do here. I'm glad I'll still have one more year, and forever be able to call myself a part of the Spartan family. Sparty On!
I grew up in East Lansing and I pretty much always knew that I wanted to attend Michigan State University. My Dad would take me to football games when I was a youngster and I think that and walks around the campus were what made me fall in love. Probably one of the things I love the most about MSU is tailgating in the fall with my friends. I also love the sense of community MSU has, I was studying abroad in Italy last summer and my roommate was wearing a MSU shirt and some random guys walking down the street in Florence yelled “Go Green” at us when they passed by. It’s things like that that make me really love Michigan State.
I love Michigan State because of the special bond Spartans have with each other. It seems like Spartans are all over the nation working various jobs and are always open to networking with students. As part of the MSU Marketing Association, it makes it easier for us that former Spartans are willing to come in and talk to us about their lives now, and the oppurtunities they have in their companies. Also, I work the athletic events so being able to partner with the different sports teams and execute promotions that help fan appeal is awesome. Also, Michigan State students aren't socially awkward like Michigan kids.
Michigan State has been a life changing place for me. I transferred from another university after my freshman year of college, and I could not have made a better decision. The community that MSU provides is unlike any school I have been to before. Spartan pride is everywhere on this campus, from the academics to sports. I love MSU's enthusiasm and I think it can be seen walking anywhere through campus.
I also enjoy the large size because it allows for you to have many options in what you want to get involved in, and many times smaller schools do not have the opportunities that MSU can provide.
It has been more than 10 years since I have been on the Michigan State University Campus so my thoughts as to what is my favorite thing about the University dates back to my reason for wanting to attend. Back in the day, I wanted to become a big time reporter/anchor for one of major network news stations based on all my extracurricular activities in high school. At that time, MSU’s College of Communication Arts and Science was rated number one or two behind Northwestern. So I set my goal on getting accepted and graduating with my degree.
When I attended, the CAS building had just opened and was considered state-of-the-art. It was cool being the first group of students to use the building. One of my favorite memories is of Dr. Ralph…he taught public speaking and Com 486 which was a class where you spent the semester analyzing a communications phenomenon of your choosing and applying certain theories to it. This class was required for graduation. Dr. Ralph was a character (in a good way). He wore cowboy boots, a cowboy tie and hat, and smoked a pipe but his classes were so entertaining. He made learning fun and I could listen to him forever. I ended becoming his teaching assistant for both classes.
Dr. Ralph was also instrumental in helping me focus on my career aspirations. I wasn’t happy with the student advisors and had a friend in the Honors College that was able to get me to see him. He said there were five ways (he held up 5 fingers) to get where I wanted to go. He didn’t tell me which one to choose but I choose one and was on my way. Later that month, I went to see him and he announces to all the students in the waiting area, that I was accepted into five internship programs. How embarrassing!! But he was a great guy and it is still one of my fondest memories of MSU.
Another favorite thing about MSU was spring semester. The campus was beautiful and we’d go outside to sunbath between Snyder-Phillips and Mason-Abbott dorms. It was our private MSU beach.
