OK students, it's time to come clean. We all know Michigan State University is a wonderful place to be. But I'm curious, what makes it amazing for you? Is it the great classes, the campus, sports teams, fraternities or sororities, friends? Comment on this post and tell me why you feel MSU rocks.
I can tell you, I love many things about MSU. Campus in the Spring is amazing. The Football games are so much fun to attend, and I really like being a part of the Spartan Family. And tonight MSU should beat Purdue in basketball. Let's Go Green!

I love Michigan State because of the people I am surrounded with everyday. There are so many people looking to do great things at MSU. Being around these type of people makes us strive to be better people. I play football for MSU so my obvious answer would be playing on Saturdays in front of our student body and so many loyal fans. But because of the organization I am apart of, I have made so many great connections with players, friends, coaches, and fans. I could not express more about all of these great people. So many of them have changed my life dramatically for the better and I am thankful for it. Knowing that I am a small part of this huge operation of MSU, but can still make a difference and impact people's lives is the best part of MSU.
GO GREEN!
I love MSU because of the community of students who go to the school. Everyone is so friendly, out-going, welcoming, and laid back. I think it's easy to find a great group of friends at State right off the bat. It really does feel like everyone is a family here. I also love being a part of the Big Ten, attending any sporting event here at State is always a great time (almost as good of a time as the tailgating).
I love the community and the students. I really get a feeling of family at MSU. I think it’s a more fun laidback atmosphere. I also see the passion for the university from teachers to students and into the community. I think MSU offers great programs and it changes people’s lives everyday, which is awesome! I enjoy the sports and the fun that goes with being a fan.
The thing i like the most about MSU is how enthusiastic people are about football games. During football season, people go to tailgating with friends, family and fellow students. It seems as if people become unified through football. The whole campus seems so active and it is filled with interesting events. Once i went to my first football game last season it was against Ohio State University this was one of first time i felt truely a part of MSU. There were many different traditions in the MSU student section that was both funny and entertaining. Singing the fight song with fellow students made the game much more enjoyable than just watching it on TV.
My top 10 favorite things about MSU:
1. Being surrounded by other Spartans who love this school as much as you do.
2. Knowing that at every football game you're guaranteed 3 things- You'll be able to say "It's a beautiful day for football!" You get to watch Sparty spike the State flag and do push ups. And you know that if the team can't catch the ball that day... at least Zeke will catch a frisbee.
3. No matter what you freak out when you see Sparty on campus.
4. The tree/grass area around the Beaumont tower in the Winter is gorgeous.
5. Everything on Grand River is awesome.
6. BIG 10 sports and rivalries can't be beat.
7. The ample amount of parking and lack of tickets. (sarcasm)
8. You can always count on the Wells Hall preacher to give you a good laugh.
9. Dairy store ice cream and grilled cheese is DA BOMB.
10. I can call East Lansing home.
There is not just one thing I love about MSU. I think it's a combination of everything it has to offer which make this such a great place to be! Growing up in a house full of Wolverines (gross, I know) I never considered looking at MSU. I visited one of my friends here and ever since then I fell in love with East Lansing. I guess I feel in love with campus first and then shortly after it was the tailgating and football games. I transfered here from a community college last fall and I'm so happy I did. I really enjoy all of my advertising and communication classes and I am so sure that I am in the right major! It's a great place to be and I'm really enjoying my time here.
When people ask me what I like about MSU, or why I chose to go there, I always like to tell the same story. My first experience at MSU came right before my senior year of high school. I was an editor on my school's newspaper and we participated in the Michigan Interscholastic Press Association (MIPA) which is based out of MSU. As part of their summer workshop, I spent a few days on MSUs campus and interacted with some of the instructors in the Journalism program. I immediately fell in love with the campus and the professors that I met. I found everyone very approachable and thought that learning there would be a good experience. Shortly after that workshop, I applied to MSU and got in. Attending MSU, I found my experience to be what I expected from that short experience the in the summer. It's hard to explain, but it just feels good to be on campus, living and working with a mix of hard-working students. I always loved meeting new people in my classes, and building relationships with students and instructors. At the end of last spring semester, I moved home and am currently finishing up my degree with a few online credits, and though I find my classes just as interesting as before, being on campus is one of the biggest things I miss.
Many things make East Lansing and Michigan State an amazing place to me but overall I think it is the sense of community and all the amaizng people in East Lansing that has made it a home to me. Even though MSU is a very large university once you are here it seems very small because of all the connections I have made. Through classes, dorm life as a freshman/sophomore, my job on campus, friends and different clubs/associations I have met so many people that have made East Lansing home. Even though campus is so large, everywhere I go I seem to run into someone I know. I also love that East Lansing is a college town. Many other universities are secluded and don't really have the downtown atmosphere that East Lansing does. I love all the things there are to do in East Lansing and that all the local businesses in the Grand River area are directly incorporated into campus. East Lansing is never a boring place which makes it a great place to attend college. No matter where I end up after graduating I will always have many connections in East Lansing and I will continue to call Michigan State home.
As a commuter student, it's the feeling of unity I get whenever I'm on campus. I earned a BS from MSU several years ago, and am now working on my Masters degree. People have come and gone, but the strong sense of one-ness hasn't changed a bit. Maybe it comes from always being considered the underdog or being thought of as second to that other place in Ann Arbor. It's the invisible thread running through all of us...a sense of non-arrogant pride. I love being in other states or other countries and turning residents into State fans when our sports' teams are on TV. They feel as if I let them in on a guarded secret, because they usually had not paid any prior attention to MSU. In answer to your question, it is the stong sense of place that I love about MSU.
I could go on and on about how much I love MSU. I absolutely live for the football season. There is so much energy in East Lansing on football Saturdays. I love our gorgeous campus in the fall and spring. I think the best thing about our campus is the people. I've lived a pretty sheltered life in a small, conservative town, and I've absolutely loved the past four years at MSU because you get to meet people from all walks of life, and it really opens your eyes to what the world has to offer. I've gathered up a faboulous group of friends that I had never imagined myself hanging out with. I also love that MSU has a great horse management program as well as plenty of horse shows at the Pavilion, because that gives me an opportunity to show my horses throughout the school year at an extremely nice place. I'm thrilled that i get to attend such a magnificent school.
I really like how many different kinds of opportunities we have here. There is something or some group for almost every kind of interest. I really like the north part of campus and feel fortunate to have a strip like Grand River with everything you need. Some colleges that have nothing like that seem miserable to me. I like the diversity this campus has. I feel very fortunate to have the professors I have as a senior. They know what they are talking about and really do want you to be your best in the real world. They constantly push to get the most out of you.
This is a really tough question! I think Michigan State is a great place to meet people that you have a lot in common with. Especially during the junior and senior years when you have more classes with people that share the same major. I think my favorite part of the year is football season, and tailgating. It’s an awesome way to forget about the stress of classes and make memories with friends! Aside from that, as much as I complain about walking all over campus for classes, It really is a beautiful campus In the spring and fall! With that being said, I am not going to miss MSU in the winter when I graduate this spring!
I don't know where to start when it comes to what I like best about Michigan State. One of the best things I'd say is the entire fall season. I'm a huge sports fan, so its obvious I love the whole tailgaiting experience and going to the football games afterwards. The entire campus is a real site to see come late October/early November, so that adds to the football experience. The Izzone Campout as well as the start of the basketball season happens in the fall both of which I always look forward to. Along with the fall experience, Michigan State is a great place to hang out with friends and meet new people. I transferred here in the Fall of 2011 from Schoolcraft College in Livonia, and I have to say that was one of the best decisions I've made in my life. In these past two years I have met several new people that I am not very close with and I've just had a great time overall. So, thank you MSU for creating such a great life experience!
My favorite part of being at Michigan State University so far has been joining Kappa Alpha Theta. In my three years here I have met over 500 men and women from all over the world, with different interests, majors, and backgrounds. This is probably the only opportunity I will ever have to meet such a variety of personalities in such a short time period. With these people, I have travelled around the country, tried new things, and learned from my experiences. I have been given job opportunites solely because of the friendships I have made and the networking I have been able to do. With this organization I have gone to MSU football, basketball, and hockey games, Lansing baseball games, Red Wings Games, ski resorts and speaking events. I have participated in Relay for Life, numerous fundraisers, and volunteer events. These are all things that I never would have done alone, and I am so lucky to have met outgoing individuals that are excited to participate in community events.
I think the best part about MSU for me, is how many opportunities I have to be involved! I have met so many people through work, being on the board of directors for the Student Alumni Foundation, and joining the professional business fraternity Alpha Kappa Psi. All of these things I am a part of hold so many events and opportunities, and I've made the best friends. I also give tours as a Spartan Ambassador, so I get to talk about why I love MSU all the time! Additionally, the networking opportunities are so vast, and I've never met a Spartan alum who wasn't excited that I am a student here.
The best decision I made in my almost 6 years at Michigan State University was joining the Alpha Epsilon Pi fraternity. Although after my 4th year of college I took alumni status and no longer have any sort of role within the fraternity, I loved the friendships I made and the experiences I had in the organization. I served 2 years on the executive board and lived in the fraternity house for 2 years as well. Joining the fraternity made me feel more comfortable at college and helped me come out of my shell. The friends I made in the fraternity I still have great relationships with to this day. The leadership experiences I had really helped prepare me for my internship last year and will help greatly when I start working in the fall.
This is such a hard choice! I actually talked about this is my last blog post. I did the top 9 most fun places at msu! There are so many fun things to do. I would say going to the sports games whether is basketball, baseball, hockey, or football are apart of the most memorable moments for me at MSU. Its hard to just narrow down one but i feel like everyday at school we get the chance to have these unbelieveable moments with the people we care about.
My favorite part of Michigan State University is its beautiful campus. In spring, summer and autumn, the scene is so wonderful. I took a lot of pictures about the campus. I will miss it after I graduate. Also, I appreciate the attention and care from the university as an international student. MSU is a diverse place and it offers us all kinds of care, consultancy, and self-development opportunity. It respects our culture and our values. It’s a good place for study abroad.
