Blogs: Tapping Millions of Evangelists to Tell Your Story

1. Blogging Eliminates Secrets

Blogging is a way to tell your ideas and how you are feeling at that time. Many people blog to express something that they are interested in, and because it is done on the Web it is public at all times. Being able to express yourself with words allows for people to be more open about everything.

2. It is better to have reputation than no reputation at all

This relates to a lot of different topics rather than just blogging. It is a way to live your life because people like to be noticed by someone. Having a reputation either good or bad shows a lot about a person and what they are like. Having no reputation at all will do nothing for an individual or a company. A company with no reputation will have a hard time getting business but once they establish a good reputation people will hear about it and want to come to that particular business. Once a reputation is established it can be killed at any minute. For example Toyota was the leader in quality cars but after they had 3 different recalls their reputation tanked.

3. Blogs are the most important marketing and PR tool

Having a blog allows for people to be noticed and share their ideas. Having a great idea may never be noticed if it is never talked about. Blogs allow for self-expression and if the blog ends up with the right reader the author of the blog is in business. For example the author of the book The New Rules of Marketing & PR would have never wrote his book without having a blog first.

4. Dont believe everything you see on blogs

Since blogs are all done by people not everything is true. Blogs are a place to express your feelings towards something but doesnt necessarily mean that it is the right answer. A lot of blogs are correct information but people need to be aware of the fact that not everything you read on the Internet is true.

5. Reputation management is important

Once a person or a business has established a positive reputation it is very important to keep that. People typically continue the same trends that they are familiar with. So if a business has a good reputation there is a good chance they will have loyal customers. Keeping that good reputation allows for more profit. Also being able to view what others are saying about your company is a vital part to succeeding in business. With the Internet and blogging that is now possible, there are companies that research other companies to see when they are talked about online. There is a company located here in Lansing that is one of these companies. It is called Loudpixel and their main job function is monitoring Web content for other companies.
