Key Blogging Tips At Your Disposal

Key Blogging Tips At Your Disposal

Application of the Readings

Reading the New Media Driver’s License blogging section was extremely helpful while trying to create my blog and updating it with information.  After staring at my computer for about an hour with a blank blog post, I referred to page 61: What To Blog About?  This article by Beth Monaghan helped me out tremendously in my first venture as “a blogger”.  She had me in the first two sentences of the article, “Blogging is a powerful tool that spans a broad range of marketing initiatives. It can become the centerpiece of your thought leadership campaign, bring in leads, support search engine optimization and much more”.

Identify a Goal

I first had to identify my goal and what I intended to achieve with my blog.  I decided to use my blog as a tool that will help sell myself to potential employers.  By blogging about my trials and tribulations as a young professional, they will see how driven and passionate I am about my field.

Calendar

After figuring out what my blog was about, she goes on to advise that a blogger should set a calendar of when they will commit to blogging- I chose weekly.

Be Bigger Than Yourself

My favorite key point Monaghan made in this article was that the blog has “to be bigger than yourself”.  Blogs are designed for other people, focusing on more of a conversation, rather than solely on yourself.  I will have to develop the witty side of me because those are the most entertaining, and enjoyable blogs to read.

Aside from the readings, I found this article online that also reemphasized the key points of blogging.

I am so glad I have all these readings at my disposal.  They will help me not only become a great social media author, but also a professional and interesting blogger! My blog is on it's way to becoming a piece of work that I will be proud of through commitment and attention to detail.
