Let's Get Optimized
After commuting back and forth from State this semester, winter driving has been a huge discussion topic in my household. It just so happens that we also got a crazy amount of Lake Effect Snow this weekend, which worked perfectly for photographing pictures for my blog! Like the one below I took this morning.
I am slowly figuring out how to optimize my blog to its fullest potential. This is the second week of working on my new blog (Dreaming Wide Awake) And I have to say this week was definitely the most difficult on getting a grasp on the new websites. I had never used Squidoo OR Google Analytics before so it was a huge learning process.
It definitely is a task that requires patience and one needs to be prepared to learn through trial and error.
I optimized my blog post by:
- Using the keywords: Winter, Driving, and Need-to-know
- Linking to a HowStuffWorks article called “Top 10 Safe Driving Tips”
- I published my Squidoo account and linked it back to my blog, I also republished the same content I published in my blog and put it in a Squidoo module.
- I integrated a tracking ID from Google Analytics with my blog
My favorite resource that was covered in the New Media Resource Guide was the Top 10 Basic SEO Tips Everyone Should Know (Also found on Page 215). This article talks about Creating your SEO "find-ability" Strategy. They listed 10 simple tasks to optimizing a blog to its fullest potential. I have made a sticky note and will slowly complete this list one-by-one!
After reviewing everything I have learned this week, the utmost important thing when optimizing your blog is handsdown KEYWORDS. USE THEM. I integrated my top 3 key words throughout my optimized blog post title as well as throughout the content of my post.
Hopefully I start seeing some positive results!
