Search Engines Optimization for Dummies

I am still relatively new to the world of blogging, and there’s a lot to learn. The next item on my plate is learning about search engine optimization, or SEO for short.

The resource I used to guide my way through my first attempt at SEO’ing my blog was “5 SEO Tips Every Website Owner Should Know.” This resource does a good job of explaining why some of these measures are necessary, instead of just commanding me to use them. Taking Back Sunday Adam Lazzara

One technique I utilized was using stronger fonts to emphasize keywords. I did this so that google would recognize that those words were important and relevant to the post. I didn’t need to over-do it though, a little bit is enough to get the job done.

Another technique I used, and will continue to use, is linking often. I included 3 links to outside sources in my post, all relevant to my post and the topic. I did not include a link to any past post yet, simply because I do not have enough content to make it worthwhile quite yet.

I also included an image on my post, as well as linking to a video outside my site. Adding the description on the image should help google identify that my post contains rich, interesting content instead of just all text.

The final, most important technique I’m using is simply writing good content. I think that if I continue to write content that readers enjoy, they will continue to visit and google will notice the traffic.
