SEO Application
Search Engine Optimization is the process of affecting the visibility of a website or a web page in a search engine’s “natural” or unpaid search results. This is important because research has shown that in general, the earlier and more frequently a site appears in the search results lists, the more the visitors it will receive from the search engine’s users. It is a very powerful resource for bloggers and more to use. It allows you to see the direct effect of your blog and how it is helping your blog to get noticed and read by more viewers.
The article on BestWebberMarketing.com titled “Why is SEO important to your Business?” (NMDL pg. 212) is a great resource to see specific reasons why SEO is so important. One advantage is that it reduces your cost of online customer acquisition. Search Engine Optimization complements your paid search marketing efforts and increases the amount of free traffic to your website which helps your business increase the percent of search engine traffic your website receives, plus can help reduce your paid search marketing costs.
While there are many advantages to using search engine optimization tactics such as Google Analytics, I found it difficult to use these tools to their full potential as a rookie. There are lots of different metrics and terms that are uncommon for new users. My SEO score was in the yellow, which shows that I have room for improvement.
While the goal of optimizing my website is a great idea, it is much easier said than done. Is it working like it says it is? Just because I write external posts on sites such as Squidoo, is it really creating the hype I’m looking for to move people to my website? I have learned that it is a process that takes time and patience. Gaining a following does not happen overnight. Being able to continue to write creative content and effectively sharing it with interested viewers is a skill that must be taught and perfected over time in order to get the most bang for your buck.
