Becoming a Confident Social Media Rookie

Facebook Fan Page Tips

Facebook is a website I feel extremely comfortable navigating, but only for my personal page.  Recently I have become a campus representative for an iOS and Android app, and part of my duty is to increase our likes on Facebook.  I read the “Enhance your Facebook Fan Page with 11 Quick Tips” article on SocialMediaToday.com to gain information on easily gaining more attention to our Facebook page.  All 11 tips are very useful and easy understand.

Minorities and Social Media

I really enjoyed the chapter titled “Becoming a Master of Your Twitter Universe.”  I found the article they mentioned from USA Today titled “Minorities Rush to Twitter, Instagram, Smartphones” very interesting because it is beneficial to know which minorities use which social media sites the most.  This can help with marketing strategies by knowing which site would be most useful to get the attention of your targeted audience.

Easily Resolving Complaints on Social Media

One of the things I am definitely most afraid of when using social media is receiving negative feedback towards me or the company I am representing being posted on social media.  The section in the “Google This” book titled Avoiding mistakes in Social Media was very helpful.  I looked up the article they mentioned called “5 Great Tips for Dealing with Complaints on Social Media” and found the advice very useful.  The tips seem like they would be obvious, but also ideas I would have never thought about, like reaching out to a customer personally and not just from the company the customer had a problem with.
