Blogging 101
This week I learned that to become a good blogger, I need to first find my passion. When I am passionate enough to spend my time writing about something, people will found excitement in my writing. Nonetheless, before I move forward and start up a blog, it is recommended to read others' blog first. By reading another people's blog and commenting on their posts, I will not only gain more knowledge about the subject of my blog, but I will also leaving my trace. The more frequent I leave a thoughtful comment, the easier people would find me.
One of my favorite resource this week is "10 quick blogging tips for enhancing readership and success" (page 44). The tip that especially struck me is how I should have a plug-in that allows my readers to easily share my post. This tip is simple and doable, yet many new bloggers including myself have failed to implement it.
I also love the checklist of 10 points to improve blog writing that was posted by George Passwater (page 45). I found the resources that he share to be useful as English is not my first language. After the Deadline would help me to reduce grammatical error and eventually makes my post easier to read.
Passwater also talked about how I should use SEO, which leads me to look at my next favorite resource: "6 Ways to Optimize Your Blog for Search Engines" (page 48). Even though the concept of SEO is a little bit overwhelming at this point. I could see how SEO would help my blog gain more visits, and I am excited to implement this on my blog next week.
