Tapping Millions by Type

The following includes 5 main points from the chapter Blogs: Tapping Millions of Evangelists to tell your Story.

Blogging

  1. Blogs are differenent than any other media outlets available. Blogging provides experts and "wannabees" with an easy way to make their voices heard in the Web-based marketplace of ideas. As most people run to the internet for most research based problems, the internet has quickly become a library of opinions and passionate interests for people to refer to on ANY basis.
  2. To fully understand the unwritten rules of blogging one must be serious. THese next steps involve monitoring what millions say about them, their market or organization. Not only that, but by visiting the web blogs of others, people will become more creative and create a
  3. Going along my previous point, "one of the currencies of social media is that when you participate, people find out who you are." You no longer are a stagnant faceless, opinionless computer user. You have transformed into a thinking, opinionated person that can be perceived as an expert or great critic in their field. And as this progresses, this is where creating PROFILES  comes in. Once you've created a voice for yourself, your profiles will serve as a direct link to you. Gaining you more support.
  4. Though bloggers are interested in content, supporting visuals are important components of blog spaces. Imagine this, going online, a very visual driven engine (not to mention charts and informative graphics), and reaching blogs with COMPLETE text. How horrific! This book has urged me to always require some imaging in blog posts, they are frequently included and always helpful.
  5. Early bloggers should develop a reputation as being innovative. I have learned that a good blog includes MUCH creativity. This includes a creative name, style, and product. As well as obvious expertise, as this is what will engage your viewers/readers.

To start a blog: Blogger , Tumblr , or Wordpress

My favorite aspect of this chapter is the overpowering expertise of a blog. Blogs aren't looked as as valid, though much are opinions, but they should. They provide deep insight that no advertising or marketing strategy can yield. With this said, I look at blogs in a different light now, now I see them as a passionate copy that I could choose to read. Most times blogs have proven to be fun and unconventional in media news standards, which I love and continue to appreciate. People have blogged their way to dream jobs with their ideas, and the BLOG. It's power should never be underestimated.
