My Plans

Today, I feel that there is a high demand for knowledge on how and where to begin when making healthy lifestyle changes. These changes often include but are not limited to, how to perform certain exercises at the gym, completing the correct number of sets, when to do cardiovascular training, and proper dieting. I would like to use my blog as a tool for discussing the many different ways to live a healthy lifestyle. Everyone has a different goal and I hope that this blog can be used in a way to discuss and hear people’s stories, advice, failures, and successes.

Benefiting Me

By having this blog, I hope to gain some credibility and respect in my knowledge of living healthfully. I put a ton of work into my training, eating, and cardiovascular habits, so it would be nice to share what I have learned and be appreciated for it. By sharing what I have learned through my years of training, I hope to benefit someone else as well by possibly teaching them of new strategies to approach an unfamiliar lifestyle or habit. I am one that believes there is always room for improvement and that I can learn something new every day. I believe that this blog will allow me to read of others personal experiences and be able to take something away to possibly apply to my own life.

Using this blog can also be a great way for me to connect to people with similar interest. This field of exercise and dieting is something that I am passionate about and something that I hope to be a part of my life forever. Since I am graduating, I have to consider the possibility of working in a business or starting a business of my own that involves what I am discussing in my blog. This blog may be a way to help structure my future by connecting me with the right people who can provide me guidance and advice for my future.

Benefiting Others

I truly believe that benefiting others and myself go hand in hand. By openly discussing my personal experiences, people may share their opinions allowing me to be able to learn from them as much they they may learn from me. At the same time, all of the potential bloggers could also learn from the others commenting on my post. It would be nice to see people learning and asking questions about making changes. Some people are too nervous and don’t know where to begin. I hope to help people push through this fear and take a leap for positive change.

Resources

I chose to use this Open Vine article by Kelly Thomas Mango as a source this week because it touched on the benefits of using a blog if you are involved in a small business. Since I am planning to start my own business these five tips provide some background on the importance and capability of having a blog. These five points also cover much of what David Meerman Scott has been discussing in his book, The New Rules of Marketing & PR. By implementing these five points and much of what Scott has acclaimed success for my future business looks prominent.

For my other source this week, I chose to research why blogs fail. From the website, Social Triggers, Derek Halpern delves into a more psychological explanation in his article, Why Bloggers Fail. I would say most people fail because they don’t really know where to begin with their blog and also have very high expectations. David Meerman Scott stated in his book that for even himself, some of his posts get plenty of views and comments while others get little to none.

Halpern states that after three months, and having no results, it becomes de-motivating to continue with the blog. Halpern goes a little further in his article and explains how to not waste your time by providing some guidance on how to use your time wisely.

I chose this image for this week’s post because it represents my personal view that I will express in my blog. Today, many people choose to do things such as eat or be lazy because it appeases their mind. To be healthy and take care of your body, you have to put your body first. Bullying your body with your mind means that you are doing things or lack thereof to yourself because it makes your mind at ease or feel good. Being discipline and getting your mindset in the right place is important to live healthy and to be active.
