SEO oh oh oh oh.. the right stuff!

I've made some additional progress as far as promoting my blog... 

-Link Building – I added four comments to three blogs, and a link to my blog was included with the posts. See attachments.

-Key Words – I wasn’t sure of my blog theme at first. However, certain ideas have emerged after six posts – information, media, marketing, branding, technology, communications, etc.

So, I came up with five keyword phrases I’d like the blog to be associated with: "overwhelmed by information," "life in the information age," "creating your brand," "communications revolution," and "understanding new media." I’ll make a point to build my content around these themes, as well as include these expressions in the posts and tag these terms in entries.

-Google Alerts – I set up a Google Alert with each of my keyword phrases so that I will be notified of new information related to these terms.

-Guest Blogging – I’m looking for opportunities to be a guest blogger. A blog I’ve started to follow is blogcastfm.com. The site actually encourages submissions, so this is something I’m considering.

-Google Analytics – I installed Google Analytics, and I’m experimenting with it.

My blog is part of my personal site, and I had added the code to the bottom of every page. Information like "pages per visit" and the "average time per visit" are listed, but I don't understand the source(s) of this data. I imagine if I limited my coding to only my blog, it might give me a better sense of the data origin. I just did that today, so it's too soon to examine the findings. 

-Rich Content – D.M. Scott emphasized the need for good material in chapter 9, "The Content Rich Website." This topic has come up in other sections, as well. I’ve been putting a lot of thought and effort into each of my posts – writing, art, layout/design, etc.

Also, Scott and others have stressed the importance of continually adding new material as fresh content shows up higher in search engines. So far, I've accomplished my goal of adding a post every week. The latest entry was put up yesterday.
