Blogging to Reach your Buyers
When creating a blog one of the first things that you do is brainstorm about a name. When creating a name and a tagline for your blog, you must be careful on the name that you decide. Remember to make sure that it doesn’t show a negative image of yourself, company, product or whatever it is that you are trying to promote. I feel that this is important because once something is out there on the web you never know who saw, will see it or is looking at it. It is very hard to change something once it has been established.
Blogging Ethics and Employee Blogging Guidelines
Under the heading entitled “Blogging Ethics and Employee Blogging Guidelines (Scott,194)” it list 5 starting points of ethics that you should abide by. The last one, Credit, seemed the most important to me. It pretty much says that if you take something from another person site and either states it as is or make it into your own words, please give them credit for it. I have no idea if that would fall under the plagiarism category, since it is not copyrighted, but it still does not give you the right to do so. If you credit other bloggers in your blog it is not only good ethical practice but it will allow them to view your blog and not only have them linked to you but maybe others as well.
What Should You Blog About?
Most people struggle with choosing a topic or what they should write about. The best thing is to choose something that you love doing or watching because this would allow you to write more on the subject. If you chose something that you think you should write about but you are really not interested, then it will become to painful and you will be limited. It also says that most first time bloggers think that they have to cover a lot of material but in all actuality it is better to start with a narrow subject than a broader one. When you start with a narrower subject it will then allow you to expand your blog onto other topics. I thought this was important because a lot of us are first time bloggers and could use this advice to help better our blogs. And instead of having quantity, we could of quality.
What do you need to know to get started…
When writing a blog include an “About” page that gives a brief biography about your self, information about your blog and a photo. This is important because this will allow your viewers to connect with you personally and for them to feel as though they know you.
Building an Audience for your new blog…
Building an audience is one of the hardest things about creating a blog. The best way to do this is to add links to your blogs on your homepage or Twitter and maybe even Facebook. Your more than likely to have many friends on Twitter and Facebook, whether it’s a couple hundred or maybe even a thousand, it is a lot more than you have of people viewing your blog. This is important because if your blog is there to promote a company or product than you need as many faces as possible to view the sight.
