OK class. As you may or may not know, I am a huge Phish fan. Been following them for years. I guess being in Advertising, it's good to have a creative outlet, and the long jams are surely good for inspiration.

At the show the last couple of nights I got to thinking about following your dreams, and doing the things you really love to do. It's a rare thing to be able to do that. And I encourage you to do it. I really like seeing live music, so I make time for it. And I believe that Phish is the best band out there right now. (Feel free to disagree with me.)

So  I am curious. What really floats your boat? Is it advertising? Sailing, skiing, skydiving, fishing, hunting, Nascar, NFL, ??? What do you really enjoy doing and what is it that you want to pursue in your life?

Take a look at this video here from Phish and see what you think. Maybe you can share some good music tips w/ me too. By the way, now you have a clue why I call my blog The Digital Bus. Get on the bus...

A friend of mine is obsessed with Phish! She folows them as they tour the country, and has been to like 70 plus shows. Honestly i'd never heard of them before the both of you mentioned them! Her last name is Thomashaw in case you guys have run into each other before! Personally helping at-risk youth is what makes me truly happy. I worked at a camp this summer at MSU, that hosted foster kids from around the state of Michigan for 1 week. The camp is supposed to provide foster youth with information about college and financial assistance that is available to them. However it turned out to be so much more, I really connected with many of them and I realized that I was truly happy helping them go farther in life.

It took me a very long time to decide on pursuing advertising. I have never really been "passionate" about many things, nor could I suffer through them in my free time. I used to love swimming but after 7 years of staring at the bottom of a pool for 3+ hours a day, I am happy to finally have a break. I think having a hobby is extremely important, especially in an age where television and other less active entertainment has such a presence.

Something I am really passionate about is golf. I love to play whenever I can, and I really like the challenge. I first went to school to become a golf professional, but decided to head to MSU after a year. The one thing that makes it great is that you can always improve. I can play the best I've ever played, but at the end of the round look back and find areas I can improve on. I think one day if I can tie in advertising and golf into a career, that would be a dream scenario. Golf is just as much of a business as it is sport. I think if I could ever land a marketing/ad job in the golf industry, it would be the perfect fit.

Something that i am really passionate about it my job working for MSU University development, i started as just a student caller and worked my way up to a supervisor and hopefully a manager soon. What i love most about MSU is the feeling that i am doing something truly good for this university walking around campus i just cant help but wonder which student i pass by was able to stay in school because of what i have done for this university that really keeps me going into work every single day. The atmosphere at work is a family atmosphere, everyone working towards one goal to better the university that has given them so much already, every single student that enrolls here and sets foot on campus deserves these same opportunities and i enjoy helping to keep those opportunities alive for them. Since i enjoy doing this and am good at it which is everything you could want out of a careerit might be something i end up pursuing in my life.

When I get asked what were my dreams growing up they always involved sports. As a young kid it was all about hitting that walk off home run in the bottom of the 9th with the fans going crazy. As I got older I started to realize my passion for working in sports and my dream came true when I was offered a job with the Buffalo Bisons. The Buffalo Bisons are a AAA baseball team in my hometown of Buffalo, NY. I worked for them doing marketing and game day promotions. I was able to really impact the organization and live my dream.

Some of the duties I had were to create the promotions that you see on the field during the game. I was given the chance to create my own promotions for an Irish culture night. I am very passionate about being Irish so this was a great opportunity. Some of the ideas I had were inviting Irish dancers and having traditional Irish food at the ballpark. Other promotional ideas were to have a girl run in a rainbow shirt to a pot of gold where there was an autographed baseball. I was able to live my dream of working in sports with my own creative way. Sometimes dreams do come true.

Growing up, I think kids don't get asked this question enough, and it's truly refreshing to hear it in a college class! As for me, I'm a major goal setter and have been lucky enough to experience my dreams first-hand. One of my first real passions in life was Synchronized Figure Skating. I would not have been conidered to have been the best on my local team by any means when I first started at the age of 6, but as I kept skating through high school, I really developed my talent and decided I wanted to pursue elite, world-level career. Simply said (and this fact still somewhat amazes me to this day), I did it. After high school, just days after graduation, I moved to Boston, autitioned for and made the best synchronized skating team in the country, the Haydenettes. In my two-year tenure as a Team USA athlete, I traveled all around the US and to places such as Germany, France and Croatia. I even landed on the Cover of Skating Magazine.

Upon returning to Michigan, with a world medal in hand, I love coaching regional and national teams throughout a series of summer seminars. My international competitive record has also allowed me one of 10 spots in my discipline in the country on US Figure Skating's Athletes Advisory Committe. Though I'm unsure of whether I will have the competitive itch to skate again, I have a passion, and as I'm told, a developing talent for coaching. If I do get further involved in the sport, I would love to have a hand in realizing Synchronized Skating's goal of being included in the Olympic Games for the first times, a dream I've held since the day I took the ice.

In addition to my passion for skating, I have a true passion for watching things develop and LOVE the field of media as it will truly shape the way we communicate as a human race (in what ways specifically, history will only tell!). I love being in cities and going to new places with friends. It's important for me to see my dreams in the present tense, and my most current dreams are to pursue my career in a postive, non-stagnent way, continue to develop relationships with my friends and put myself in new places to learn to be a multi-faceted world citizen and a better communicator over all. The future is full, and I certainly try my best to meet it every day.

one of my dreams in life was playing pro football. I love football so much, I played it all while growing up and throughout highschool. I always dream about what if someone would have thought I was good enough to have a chance to play on a higher level. But that dream never came true. I learned to seperate dreams from reality. I never gave up totally on the dream, I continue to play football just not in an organized fashion all the time. But with that said I learned thoughout life that I had a new passion and that is makking money. I enjoy making money and that has to be the only thing I enjoy more than football. I currently hold two jobs, remain a full time college student and still have time to watch every MSU football game, Detroit Lions games, and Dallas Cowboys games. Making time in life for your passions help you remain saine is what I bellieve. We all have the things  we love and its not cool to surpress this thing.

P.S. this band is cool but ColdPlay is Great!!!!

I am a music fanatic. Music definitely makes my world go 'round, and I make sure I get to see live concerts whenever possible, whether it be a small in town bar band or a music festival out of state, I'll be there whenever financially possible. I came into the advertising world not really knowing what route I might want to take with it, but i quickly came to event marketing and promotions as my go to guide. I have attended far too many concerts to count in countless cities around the map, but my favorite musical socials are most definitely music festivals, big or small. I have been to festivals in Michigan, Florida, Colorado, Illinois, Arkansas, and Tennessee and i don't plan on stopping anytime soon. Each and every festival has its own environment and culture that surrounds and engulfs the weekends and music that is offered. It's really amazing how music and art bring so many walks of life together and when you look around it is a world of advertising, from promotions of bands, to food, clothing, and art to name the bulk of them. It would be my dream to be able to travel from festival to festival, traveling the world and experiencing the rich culture each and every place has to offer, it's really a beautiful thing. As many festivals as I've been to I have yet to see Phish, but would really enjoy it if I had the chance. There really is no limits to my music taste, pretty much everything besides country and hard rock. As you stay phishy, I'll make sure I don't stop my endless journeys for music.

Student

I'm glad you offered your passion for music because I am also a music nut. I started playing guitar at the beginning of high school and have rarely missed a day playing since. I also write and record my own stuff occasionally and have worked with a few other musicians. There's nothing like it for me. Most other forms of entertainment fall flat. Perhaps it's because of the cultural significance it wields and the fact that anyone can do it. It's really the most democratic form of entertainment available. Other than that, it's just fun -- both playing and listening. I've become quite the record junkie over the past year. I go to FBC on Grand River like once a week to see what new stuff has come in. In terms of what kinds of music I like, I barely discriminate. I've sort of developed the mind of a critic, so it's important to exude humility and understand that good music can come from just about any genre. My personal favorites would have to be shambolic rock and roll, punk, indie rock, jazz, alt country, hip hop, Afropop and other forms of African music. I tend to like the semipopular stuff -- rarely top 40 or outsider stuff, but there are always exceptions.

Student

If I could have any kind of job, my dream career would be to me a food critic, I love food, and it's just something I enjoy doing. I'm sure many people love to eat, but if I could eat anything and try anything I would. Last night for the first time I had Labanese food, and I thought it was amazing. It wasn't my first time trying Middle Eastern food, but it was my first time trying specifically Labanese. I do enjoy Advertising though, it's more realistic being in the advertising industry rather than being a food critic. I think advertising is fasinating, some people skip the commercials, but I actually like watching them. So advertising is something I enjoy, but eating is what I love.

Student

Of course, I love advertising. What is not to like? Advertising is dynamic and fascinating. After I graduate, I definitely want to pursue my career in this field. But when the question about my real passion is raised. What I really love to do? The answer popped up in my head, I love traveling. I love traveling since I was in Thailand. Thailand has many beautiful beaches and islands. In addition, there are cultures and long history, which are different in many places. I have been to several countries in Asia, and in each countries there are many interesting things to learn. Now, I am in the U.S., why would I miss a chance to travel in this big country, which varies in different regions. I had chances to travel to some places in U.S.; I had a lot of fun and also learned many things. Key West, Florida is one of the most captivating place I have ever been to. The bridges that was built to cross one island to another is unbelievable. There are many other places to visit and appreciate their beauty and uniqueness. I have decided what I want to pursue in life. I want to do the advertising business related to traveling. If it is possible, I wish I can work in a national tourism organization like Tourism Authority of Thailand or in other countries.

This is easy. I have a passion for photography. I spend many hours appreciating online photography portfolios while also editing and taking pictures myself. My friends make fun of me because when we are at any type of function or vacation I never put down my camera!

I love to find new techniques and inspiration on online blogs. I use StumbleUpon to find them! I recently was able to take pictures for my friends' engagement and have done some small wedding photography. My favorite thing to photograph is nature. It is absolutely beautiful and you do not have to worry if one angle is not working or if everyone's eyes are open.

Writing this made me realize that I spend so many hours looking at other photographers' websites and should be building my own!

Although I"m an advertising major, my passion really is sports. I feel that with sports there is emotion that you can never find anywhere else. Even being on the inner workings of athletics (which I would like to do and am currently doing), there is something amazing about knowing what is going on with the team you love and being able to make everyone else's gameday experience amazing. I remember the first time I walked down the MSU tunnel at Spartan Stadium and the hair on my neck stood up. I love seeing people's faces as they walk to the field and the how their day instantly becomes better. I want to continue working in sports and going to as many games as possible. Living in Michigan we are lucky to have pro teams in basketball, football, hockey and baseball and so we need to take full advantage of it! Sports are not just about greedy athletes and owners or about fantasy leagues and stats. Sports to me are emotions and hard work put forth by the athletes and the support staff. It also is a bonding time for families and even whole states.

When it comes to my forte, and what really floats my boat, I would say fashion. I don’t mean to sound cliché, however shopping and putting together different outfits or in other words, styling is a passion of mine. If I could do anything in the world I would probably style entertainers for events such as awards, red carpets, photo and video shoots and anything else. I love it, style is a part of me, which is why my blog is entitles fashion vs. technology, so I can show the world how I compare my love for fashion to having the newest and coolest technology gadgets.

When it comes to music I am for the most part a R and B fan. My favorite artist at the moment has to be Alicia Keys. I usually only buy albums or artist in which I can listen to them all the way through without changing a song. I love that, and as hard as it is to believe there are still artist out there who can provide that to their fans or if I may say us consumers. I am more of a soft, keep to myself person and I like my music the same way. Of course I like a little beat and something you can dance too but now a days, you never k now what you will get therefore I stick to my usual. However I am open to listening to other types of music and probably have one favorite song from every genre. I can adapt if I fel the need to.

Derek, thanks for posting this question.  It is a bit like your original blog for this class, and is intended to get the class thinking about where they are, where they want to be, and how to connect the dots in between.  Unfortunately, I am a bit beyond that point in life.  It is never too late, but with more than half of my life already having taken place, it is a bit more challenging to follow my passions if I haven't done so already (I can't say that I have).  As you get older you find more reasons, and excuses, for not upsetting the status quo, and you adapt to your situation instead of adapting the situation to your desires.

I am grateful that you bring these philosophical questions up and provoke the people in the class to think about them.  I have found that it can be very easy to put off thinking about what you really want as life moves ahead.  And, more importantly, it becomes easier not to act!  You never realize that each day you make what seem to be small, inconsequential decisions that later on have all added up to where you are, and what you are doing.  So, I strongly encourage my classmates to think deeply about what they want out of life and understand the reasons behind it.  Evaluate even small decisions with those goals in mind.  Spend time every day, even a few minutes, reminding yourself of what you want, and why.  And do something every day that brings you closer to that goal.

For me, I have realized that I love nature, and being in it.  I used to spend a lot of time in the woods, at the beach, in the lake as a kid, and into my early 20's, but then I lost track of that part of me and ended up thinking that I wanted to be a business man.  Now I am trying to figure out how to get back into the woods, while not losing the lifestyle that my family has grown accustom to.  It is a challenge that will test my creativity and spirit.

My heart and soul is with my horse. Horses are my passion and always have been. I originally enrolled at MSU as an Agribusiness Management student (to manage a horse farm), but changed it for some reason. Though now everything is coming together for me, as I am currently doing just what I always wanted, managing a farm. We are about to start a lesson program for children there too, of which I will be the instructor. I have ALWAYS wanted to make my living with the animals that I love and it is finally happening for me. It is the scariest thing that I have ever done, butI am so excited.  I also have my own horse of which I have dreams of training all the way up the Dressage ladder (thats also the topic of my blog, so looks like I'm blogging for the next 4-6 years as well). My other passion is photography. I recently bought a Nikon D3100 DSLR and have gotten some amazing shots. I still have a lot of learning left to do with it, but I have hopes of getting a degree (or certification) in digital photography in the future.

As for my music taste, I'm country all the way. My absolute favorite is Keith Urban (in his pre marriage days, his writing was much different) and Sugarland follows closely behind.  I don't know what it is, but I just like the fact that I can understand the words that they are saying, unlike most of the stuff that my cousin listens to.

Student

What really floats my boat? Well, I would have to say several things actually... still, one of my favorite things to do is hair and make-up. While I'm sure this is a hobby many other girls possess, I took it a step further and made my dream a reality when I went to Douglas J and got my Cosmetology license. Other than my girly side, I really enjoy doing anything outside. Whether it be rollerblading, jogging, playing catch, swimming, etc., I love being outside... and listening to music ofcourse!

Student

I was about to almost post the exact same thing, so I figured I should just comment on yours. I also always enjoyed doing hair, nails, and makeup for my friends, and after one year of college I went to cosmetology school. I liked doing it, however I lacked  the passion for it and wanted something more, so I came back to school to get my degree. You could say, though, that I have a passion for summer. I love to be outside in the sun, doing any type of sport... golf, swimming, softball, wakeboarding, tennis, or just reading a book in the sun. I'm hoping that once I enter the business world I will find my passion because people who work in a field they truley enjoy are the lucky ones. What's better than making money doing something you love?

Student

I would have to agree with you! I love playing in my hair and doing makeup, its seriously some of my favorite things I really enjoy doing. I think its great that you took it a step further and got your Cosmetology license.

Student

To be 100% honest, I really want to travel the world and take photos. When the series Life came on Discovery, I watched it in HD and couldn't take my eyes off of it. I love nature and it's beauty. I want to one day capture all the amazing colors the world has to offer. It is so funny, ever since I was a kid I wanted to be a Vet because I loved animals, but as I got older I lost sight of that because of math and science and all of the complex things I was too lazy (not too dumb) to really grasp. And as I have gotten older, and the itch to travel has gotten stronger, I have realized that my love for photography and animals have combined. I think there is nothing more beautiful than the lush full colors of the world.

Hahahah this is absolutely hilarious. My 7th grade basketball coach would listen to Phish ALL THE TIME! We would even have to listen to it while we practiced because he said that it "prepares you mentally". I'm going to have to disagree with Phish being the best band out there but they are a very entertaining band. There is a new genre of electronic music called Dubstep. It has really taken off in Detroit and I have transitioned into this type of music. I feel that any music that can make you move or put you in a good mood is music to listen to. I only have a few favorites because I listen to any genre of music, I'm really not too picky about the tunes that go into my ears. I can see how you could say Phish could be a great band, but I say The Beatles have them beat. I don't know if that is cliche, but I'm sticking with my gut on this one. Keep listening and if you get a chance to listen to Dubstep, listen to Rusko, Skrillex or Skream (all good artists). I give you a fair warning, it can get loud and obnoxious, but that's music...right??

At the age of five I was wearing a tutu and calling myself a prima ballerina.  From then on I continued to dance and it became a huge part of my life.  I danced for thirteen consecutive years and was a competitive dancer for five of those years.  A dance studio became my home away from home and dance was inevitably the love of my life.  But when most dancers graduate high school, dancing ends for them.  Unless you're majoring in dance or become part of a dance team at the college level, you pretty much stop because you don't have time in your schedule to take classes as an extracurricular activity like you did before.  And that's what happened to me.  I regret not keeping dance part of my life because it was and will always be a part of me.  So I figured since it's my senior year of college, it's my last chance to really get dance back in my life.  So I decided to tryout for a competitive dance team in the fall.  Although I love dance, it's not something I would ever pick to become my main occupation later in life, because my interest in marketing and advertising has become what I'm really interested in as a career.

I also love being an artist at heart.  I've always enjoyed experimenting with different media to see what I can create.  I love traditional 2-D art forms; drawing, painting, and the occasional mixed-media piece.

Artwork 2009

Also for music, I'm a sucker for classic rock.  My favorite band of the genre is Motley Crue.  Their music is fun and edgy, and they aren't afraid to take chances.

I love singing and music. If I could’ve skipped college, moved to Hollywood and been guaranteed to become a famous singer traveling the globe performing at sold out concerts in front of millions of fans, recording platinum records and signing autographs, I would have. I've even written and recorded a few original songs. Unfortunately, there are no guarantees in life, so I chose the more traditional route and enrolled at Michigan State University. I’ve always had a passion for the stage and the spotlight, so I did theater in high school. I received multiple main roles so I thought maybe that I would go to college for theater. However, as reality set in again, I realized I wanted a job that would make a steady paycheck and not tips. And although I still miss the stage and miss performing, I am happy with my decision to attend college as a journalism major and advertising major. If I hadn’t, I never would’ve discovered my true passion… editing.

I love editing. The feeling I have when I complete a video is the same feeling I used to get when I took my final bow on stage. If a picture is worth a thousand words, then a video is worth so much more. In the future, I would love to work at a trailer house and edit movie trailers that are seen by hundreds of thousands of people. Movies are another strong passion of mine because I love that they let me escape from the world and enter a new world or someone else’s life, even for just two hours. My dream job would be combining these passions and using them to get others excited to escape into another world or experience something new. If I am lucky enough, I would also love to transition to actual movie editing and win an Oscar by the time I’m 50… but I would definitely be satisfied if I ended up editing movie trailers for the rest of my life… while performing at karaoke bars with my friends on the weekends.

Also, if you enjoy and are looking for some great live music, my friend's band "The Junction Groove" plays every Friday night at The Post Bar in Dearborn! They're a lot of fun to watch and it is great to hang out on the patio during a nice summer night listening to them play! :) They do great covers of a lot of older songs, but they also write original music. Check them out sometime!

I love good music too, and I do wish I could see more live acts. I think Cake is doing some great things right now, but I had to miss them when they were in Royal Oak a few weeks ago due to prior commitments. Great music can make you feel great, so I certainly don't blame you. I like to apply this theory when I make videos lately - to explore the way the music used in a video rhetorically compliments a scene. I've learned over the last two years in my master's program how to work with sound and then how to make video and apply what I know about sound to them. It's been a wonderful journey, and I think I'd like to explore it further. I'm not sure yet exactly how I'll use it, but I'm hoping it will become clearer over the next year.

Student

Heather, I really like Cake too. And what a coincidence... I saw them in concert for the first time exactly 12 years ago tonight. How do I remember? It was the same day my cousin Brandon was born.

Expressing myself creatively is something that is highly encouraged by the advertising industry, and it is something that has inspired me to partake in this profession. Despite being on the management side of the business, it is still necessary to share your creative talents to stay on-top in an ever-changing industry, due to consumers ever-changing attitudes and wants. I believe any tool that helps to inspire and gets your mind thinking and imagining should be utilized whenever possible. Music allows for relaxation and gives the mind the ability to soar and think of things that were thought to be un-imaginable.

Live music is always so exciting, especially to be there and visually connect with the band. Although I have never listened to Phish, I respect all varieties of music and more importantly any tool that allows the expression of creativity. I have seen Dave Matthews Band perform live numerous times and every time is even better than the time before. They love to connect with their fans and truly care about their music. Their music is such an amazing inspiration and provides such great messages about the journey of life. Let your creative-side shine.

Art & Design fuel my life. My walls at home are covered with posters, paintings and random found objects that inspire me in my creative endevours. Most of my time online is spent checking out artists blogs, stumbling upon art websites and researching past masters. This passion is what provoked me to minor in Art History. I've learned so much from these classes and it makes trips to art museums so much more enjoyable when I know a little bit more about what I'm looking at. I'm currently on an illustration kick. I've been devouring animated shorts, childrens book illustrations and comic stirps in my free time. No matter how much I find there always seems to be more. That's what I love about art, new stuff is always being created.

Student

There are a handful of things that I really LOVE and, when I think about it, they all give me the ability to express myself how I want to. I've never been someone who is super into things other people do - like music and sports. Don't get me wrong - I like both of those things. But they're not my life. As much as people might claim otherwise, I really don't believe that the great things other people have done or created can truly be an extension of who I am.

The things I love (in no particular order) are: dancing, writing, shopping, and cooking. I've been dancing since I was 4 years old. I've been doing it just for fun since I left high school as there are few opportunities otherwise in college. The self expression involved in writing is obvious. I used to write a lot of poetry when I was younger (that was very melodramatic of course), but now I just like to write anything. Shopping - follow me on this - isn't the ideal form of self expression as it's a pretty dangerous and budget-busting habit, but I absolutely love it. I love finding things that speak to me and I believe that building a closet it a lot like building your own brand. You kind of need a theme and it should be unique to you. And cooking is something I'm still sort of dabbling in. I love watching the food network and trying new things. Whether or not they're palatable is another story. :)

I definitely have two major passions and that is sports and music. I am a huge Detroit sports fanatic and love Michigan State Athletics. I try to watch every game on t.v. and love to watch sports. I especially was interested in the NBA finals when the Detroit Pistons won in 2004. I really get into the games and have parties for big Detroit games.  I try to go to games whenever I can and sports is definitely where someday I want my career to end up. I want to work for a professional sports team doing sports promotions and sponsorships.

My other passion in life is music and I love to attend concerts. I am into all types of music. I lately have been listening to Wiz Khalifa and might try to attend his concert when he comes to DTE later this summer. I also am a huge country misoc fan. I have already purchased tickets to Blake Shelton who is going to be at the Midland County Fair which is not far from where I live. I have been to many concerts and try to go to one concert per summer with my dad. Last summer we went and saw Zac Brown on his Southern Ground tour. He has a lot of hits but I really like "Free" where he includes part of a song from Van Morrison. Below is a Youtube link to Free.

I love Wiz Khalifa! Thanks for the heads-up about his concert! I will definitely be checking into buying tickets!

As with many males my age, one of my biggest passions is sports. All my life I have been involved in some sort of athletic activity. I believe sports bring out the best in people, and allows people to achive things they never thought possible.  A second passion of mine is to become a successful business person. The optimal career choice for myself would be to combine these two and as a result I became an advertising major. A little confused? Well one of the biggest revenue generators to professional sports teams is their ability to sell ads. If it's a banner on a home run fence for a local restaurant, a website along the sideline of a basketball court, or a nike swoosh on a football jersey, all are money makers. As an intern at a Northern Michigan professional baseball i got to experience first hand how this works. In my experience i Hvae come to find that i have a passion for trying to sell a product and will do whatever (professionally) possible to get the sale done. It doesn't hurt that it is in the resort town of Traverse CIty where it is possible to go across the street at lunch time an hop on a jet ski for an hour. Summer time in Northern Michigan....

The thing that I enjoy beyond anything else in the world is simply spending time with my friends and family. As far as my own person passion -- I love traveling, and I love being outdoors, and seeing everything that mother nature has to offer. The thing that I would absolutely be lost without would not being able to express myself creatively -- pottery, drawing, painting, making things, etc. I also love to find old things and completely repurpose them and give them a whole new life.

Student

I have many passions in life. First is my career, i have always been business minded and i hope to take my advertising degree into business with me. Second is just enjoying life. Whether its sky diving, bungee jumping, Cedar Point, camping, laying on the beach, dune buggying, and following all my favorite sports teams. The way i see it is you only live once, you mise well enjoy life to the fullest of your capabilites because before you know it you will be looking back on these days. I also really enjoy giving back and i have been very privelledged to do this in South Africa through my dads Charity. It really gives you an appreciation for the kind of life you are able to live. So in short, having a good career and enjoying life to the fullest through the many excapes i mentioned above is the way i live my life.

I like how you break it into two categories. I definitely feel as if my career will be extremely important as well as making sure to make time to enjoy everything else life has to offer. Well said!! I think it is extremely neat that you were able to visit South Africa and give back -- I can't imagine how great that must feel to know you have helped out. I'm sure it gives you a whole new outlook and appreciation for the life we live in the United States.

So what is my dream, what do I want to do for the rest of my life if I could do anything? If you know anything about me, my favorite thing in the world is baseball. My favorite team is the Detroit Tigers. So it's pretty safe to say that my dream is to play second base for the Detroit Tigers. I mare than anything in the world growing up was to be a professional baseball player. It was all that I talked about when I was a kid, I played year around in Michigan, which is pretty hard to do. During high school I would get up early before school to go hit in the batting cage at school and stay after school to work out and hit in the cage again. I was crazy about it and wanted to be the best.as I got older I realized that being a professional baseball player might not happen, and once I relaized that I concentrated on my schooling. I picled advertsing because I thought if I couldn't play I would try to et as close as I could to the game and I'm not good at science for the medical field. Even though I play soccer more than I do baseball now, I still watch every Tiger's game or if I can't I record it and get updates sent to my phone every three innings. I will always be a fan a baseballl and hopefully I will be alive to see the Tiger's win the World Series.

I'll just stick to the theme of good live music, because I am a huge music fan. Phish is a great band, I've never been to a show but I have heard some of their live pieces and my phish favorite is The Lizards. I have to say that my all time favorite live musician is Bob Marley. Of course I never had the honor of seeing him in concert but I've heard all of his live jams. He definitely influenced artists like Tray, and left a great legacy. Music is truly inspirational and can actually drive people to great successes in many different professions. It affects people more than we know...

And I love to snowboard, play ball of all sorts and read.

I love advertising and public relations. I feel like it has so much to offer and you can meet some amazing people along the way. Something I am super passionate about is sports. Most of my friends are very girly in every aspect, but i've been raised in a huge sport fanatic household. By no means am I a tomboy, but I would do anything to not miss a game. Basketball is my favorite professional sport for men, second and third would be football and basketball, however, I love women's volleyball. I played for 6 years and I would go to a game in a heartbeat. Good thing my boyfriend is a huge sport nut, or else i'd be watching the games by myself.

Another passion of mine, is traveling. I wish I had an endless amount of money and could travel all over, and not to just the really cool european countries but historic places in the US as well as third world countries. Its amazing to see other cultures and how people live that are not from your region or country at all. Maybe one day, i'll be able to do all of that traveling.

As far as music goes, I think live music is amazing and concert I can go to I go. It may not be my favorite singer or band but when you watch them perform, you can see how truly passionate about the music they are and it inspires you.

My passion in life is the environment and taking care of our planet and its resources. I actually got my undergraduate degree in Natural Resources Communications with the goal of working for an environmental organization at some point. I believe strongly in conserving and preserving our natural resources so that future generations will have a high quality of life. I try to practice what I preach by being thoughtful about my impact on the environment and educating others about our resources.

My passions in life is traveling.  I haven't been able to do a lot of it in my lifetime, but I plan on getting most of the map covered after graduation.  I found that I am the happiest when I am outdoors exploring new things and meeting new people.  I just recently started saving up to go to Australia with my best friend in January, and come August, I'll be floating down Lake Cumberland with about 20 of the best people I know .  I love to be spontaneous, and the thought of not knowing what's next is an absolute thrill to me.  My family always laughs at me because regardless of how much money I have or don't have, when the opportunity comes up for me to go somewhere (even an hour away), I am the first one in the car.  I love being on the go and living in the moment. I can thank my ADHD for my lack of wanting to stay in one place, but it's one of my favorite things about myself.  Whenever asked things like "what defines you" or "describe yourself in one word" I get flustered because I could never pin point just one thing.  A better question for someone like myself would be more like "what do you love today" or "what's on your mind this moment" because it is ever changing.

In terms of music, I will give anything a chance.  In the summer months my go to is country music, it just feels so right around a bonfire with a beer in hand.  Most like everyone else, I listen to music that will suit my mood. However,  No One's Gonna Love You by Band of Horses will forever and always be my favorite song.

My real passion in life is Sports. I eat, sleep, and breath sports. From Tennis and Golf, to Rugby and Football, I love them all. Sports brings some many things together in this World. For instance, look at the Olympics, the World Cup, etc. I'm not sure on the statistic, but I believe it was something close to seven out of the top ten most viewed shows/events last year were sports related.

Ever since I was a child, I have been very active playing sports year round. I was fortunate enough to competitively play soccer, basketball, rugby, baseball, golf, and tennis to name just a few. Many people believe the World revolves around Love, Peace, etc. but I believe it revolves around Sports.

The passion, desire, and determination it takes to play a sport is amazing. Wathching athletes on TV, you can FEEL the excitement of a win and the heartache of a defeat. Some of the greatest accomplishmentsin this World are also becuae of Sports. Sports brings the World together as well. We, as a whole, might differ in religion, race, ethnicity, etc. but we are brought together by one thing, Sport.

As you can see by this post, I am very passionate about Sports; it lights my fire; it gives me incentive; it does everything and anything I need it to.

I want to end up working in Sports someday. I owe it to myself to work in the field I love, with that of Sport. I am going to try everything I can to excel in Sports, because like I said earlier, the World revolves around it. ;)

It was just recently that I actually changed my major to advertising. I had originally been pre-nursing and was rejected a few times (thanks MSU). While I love helping and taking care of people I decided nursing wasn't really my passion, and besides there are a million other ways I can help people! Anyways, some things I really couldn't live without are music, dance, a pen and notebook, fashion, and anything to do with nature. I hope that someday once I earn my advertising degree I can work at an in house agency (hopefully at a clothing company/fashion house) who is also very philanthropic.

My passion is writing. After I finish up my last year in school, I'm hoping to find a job where I'm able to incorporate creative writing into my work. I currently write/edit a satirical newspaper on campus and I really love it. Writing is my outlet to the world and the Internet has made it possible for me to expand that outlet even further. I recently launched a website where I write little blurbs about various things going on in the world, things I find on the Internet, etc. and I hope that it will help me find new audiences who enjoy my writing and sense of humor.

As much as I love advertising, my original goal in life was to be a zoologist. Animals are my weakness and I would do anything for them. I actually started out majoring in Zoology, and after working my butt off in BS110 and not even passing, I decided that this wasn't going to be my line of work. I am also a very spontaneous person and I absolutely love the outdoors, so my dream in life is to be able to explore different countries and go hiking through endless terrain across the world. Yeah, I know that's impossible to do unless you're a millionaire and don't have to work for a living, but hey, it's a dream. Since I've never left this country, exploring the world that's out there is something I hope to do before I die. Who knows, maybe when I retire I'll just travel for the rest of my life like a lot of my friend's grandparents do.

I absolutely love being spontaneous with the activities or interest that i love. For example, i love football (easily my favorite sport) and i love the Buffalo Bills and last year the Detroit Lions were playing the Bills in Buffalo so i decided i needed to attend that game. I looked around for cheap tickets and rounded up two of my Fraternity brothers and made the trip to my hometown for the weekend. We had no plans for the weekend we were just going to see what came of it. We ended up partying downtown for my friends 21st bday (which i did not know about till we got to B-Lo) and he was friends with a couple Buffalo Sabres players. So we raged with them and in the morning went early to the tailgate and watched the Bills beat Lions (which i loved). Regardless of the story, my point is that i love making spontaneous decisions for the experience of the event or activity. I am waiting for the moment when i can randomly just go skidiving and bungee jumping because i have been trying to do those two things for about 10 years now.

I want to pursue being an advertiser for a large sport franchise or Mcdonalds. My reason behind it is because i love America and to me nothing says America like football and Mcdonalds.

I also enjoy seeing live concerts.  My dream job would be using the information I gained from my retailing degree, plus the things I learn in this class to help bands continue to play shows. Whether I help them get the right merchandise at the right time and place, or if it's helping them establish a large web presence. Music is one of my many passions, and would love to help out the bands I love since they give me great music to listen to.

There is nothing better than being outside on a warm, sunny day. I love the outdoors and anything that gets my heart pumping while I'm there. Some of my favorite outdoor pasttimes include running, hiking, and biking. On the mornings when I go for longer runs (right now I'm training for a marathon), I feel very peaceful on the backroads of my community. No one is awake; it's my time to enjoy the trees, sunshine, and gives me a chance to think. I also love learning about health and ways to lead a healthy, rewarding lifestyle. Travel is another huge part of my life. I've always been an explorer, always will be. I wish I knew what my dream occupation was, but I don't. Hopefully I can find a career that is perfect for me in the future, but until then I will do my best to work on finding a job that makes me happy. If people have to spend most of their lives working, then I want it to be enjoyable!

Time is my outlet, however we experience it shortening second by second it almost seems. Moreover, what it is I choose to do during that time are the activities & experiences I am passionate about. I have a genuine love and appreciation for the following things: education, community empowerment and drawing/manipulating in adobe Photoshop. I only hope to make my formerly mentioned passions my carreer as an educator, scholar, and artist. But in mentioning Phish as a musical, even spiritual outlet, I feel it is only proper that I mention mine. To relax, and truly exercise my potential as a rapper, artist, scholar, and wannabe comic, I smoke that green and toke. Now, deem me as the smoker society labels folks when they make this statement, but I must let you know, you'd be missing out on a creative original gal! Atleast you couldn't say I didn't tell you so;) On a lighter note, I've always felt something extremely tranquil about submerging myself under water/in a pool. Though I do not know how to swim, the water calms my fiery mind and settles my pounding nerves. Luckily, whether I end up financially fortunate or not, water will always be able to provide me with the relaxed and rested feelings my tired soul will desire. So jump in some water and spark up friends, live your passions!

I have always had a passion for soccer and hockey. My dad was a soccer coach and quickly sucked me into the game. He coached me all the way until my teen years until he finally he handed me off to other competitive travel teams and then finally high school soccer. Alongside soccer came the sport hockey, a sport that was dad always compared to soccer to. We would sit down at our tube televison and watch the Detroit Red Wings play season after season. I specifically remember watching the days of Yzerman, Shanahan, and Federov as they played in the 1997 Stanley Cup Finals. From there on, hockey grew on me and it was my sport to watch whenever I could. With this, I would love to pursue advertising in the field related to soccer or hockey. A MLS soccer team or the Detroit Red Wings would be a dream come true. Another hobby of mine is to game, video games that is. It would also be incredible to work for one of the bigger gaming companies such as Bungie and Activision who produce the Halo and Call of Duty series.

I have always been passionate about sports throughout my life especially basketball, volleyball, and golf.  Ever since I can remember my parents had me on multiple sports teams growing up and I loved it.  I continued to play basketball, volleyball, and golf throughout junior high and high school and for some time was planning on playing volleyball at the collegiate level.  My education was obviously my first priority so I decided to come to Michigan State University and pass up on the chance to play college ball.  During all those years I learned valuable lessons about teamwork and leadership which have already been beneficial to me in the classroom and workplace.  I now play volleyball only for recreation but would love to be able to incorporate my passion for sports into my career one day.
