Comments & Feedback
I did not submit my saga assignment but I still feel that is so cool. Being a Spartan is one of the most important decision in my life. Whether I am at a football game, in class, in clubs, an especially talk with some students in University of Michigan, I am proud to say hey my college is the best in the world. After college we will go off to do great things and each of us will have a different story to tell, but we know that a lot of it started right here on this campus. We are on big family that looks out for each other because we want everyone to succeed. That's what I love about being a Spartan.
My favorite part of being a Spartan is the beautiful campus and the wide variety of people you meet and run into on a daily basis. Although many people may not like the size of campus so much as it can be difficult to get around, I find walking it to be very therapeutic. Its beautiful landscape is definitely a reason I chose to live in East Lansing.
Being a Spartan for four years is something not a lot of people can say they did. My career at Michigan State has been great I have met a lot of people my age that I have built bonds with as well as learned how to interact with people as a real job. The best part about being a spartan is probably football saturdays and the social life that goes along with it. Michigan State really has world class sports teams which is great I just wish they cut the budget on sports some to have a better quality of teachers at the school because for every good teacher I've had I have also had about 5 horrible ones. Overall college has really helped me grow up and figure out what I want to do with my life.
I am a Spartan because it’s in my blood. It is our family tradition to go to Michigan State; everyone in my family has gone there and now most work there. Being a Spartan means so much more to me than just going to a Big10 school, it means that I made my family proud and I continued the tradition. Growing up I was raised a Spartan, you couldn’t get me to take off my MSU cheerleading outfit, and now I am very proud to be a Spartan and cannot to be an alumni of the best school ever!
Being a part of Michigan State University has completely changed my perspective on life since I began as a freshman 5 years ago. I feel the people I have met and the opportunities I have everyday at this university has shaped the person I am now. I grew up my entire life a diehard U of M fan (I know right), and honestly didn't know if I would be able to support MSU fully as my institution of choice. That faded away within the first two weeks I arrived at Brody hall. The people, the atmosphere, and even the academics just proved to be an unbelievable experience that I enjoyed every time I stepped out of my dorm. I learned Chinese here, which also gave me an unforgettable trip to China via MSU's amazing study abroad program, as well as studying Advertising and learning so much about the industry and its effects on society. I now have the knowledge and work ethic that I believe MSU instills in every student that comes through here, and couldn't imagine a university that provides better opportunities or experiences for its students
I think this is a great tool for marketing Michigan State University. The reason I beleive so is because it is free, easy, and a great way to get different perspectives of previous students. Anyone interested in providing a "spartan saga" can do so and post it on YouTube for other people viewing pleasure. It is also an interesting way to get Michigan State circulating through the web. Anyone interested in getting more information on the school prior to committing to attend can go online for free reviews from previous students. I think this is very effective and think it will help with recruting new students to the school.
My Spartan Saga:
Been a Spartan not only means the sharing of top tier acdamic standards and facilities, but also the tremendous and diverse student bodies, incredible amount of socail life and groups for different interest and background. It is the relationship between people that I enjoyed the most. Most importantly, which school has all the world class football team, basketball team and hockey yeam altogether with one name. It is Spartan!
I am an international student from China and I am also proud of being a Spartan. Since at Michigan State there are tons of opportunities to meet people from all over the globe, my college experience as Spartan truely opened my mind and gave me a global perspective of my career, future and life. I love how the school embrace every culture and ethnicity. In terms of Spartan Sagas, I feel it's too much work for individual student to submit a video to promote Spartan Spirit. How about targeting some student organizations and groups?
I love being a Spartan. Living here on this big and beautiful campus has shaped the person I am today. After moving around a bit during my childhood, my family had decided to settle down in a small country town in Michigan. Since I had been raised in the city, I missed a more urban setting and decided to go to a big in state school so I could remain close to my family, but still enjoy an urban lifestyle. When I came to Michigan State, I knew it didn’t have a large metropolitan setting, but I was impressed by its blend of architecture and gardens. Michigan State’s efforts to balance 40,000 plus students with a healthy natural environment is the reason I chose to go here and I am proud of what we as a community have made of this school.
If the word "Spartan" doesn't say enough, let me reassure you. Despite the awful weather, Michigan State is an amazing place to be a part of. The campus is incredible, the people are great and the curriculum itself isn't too bad either. As I inch closer and closer to graduation, I am beginning to recognize the true value of a degree from MSU-Broad as opposed to many other schools in the country. I am and always will be proud to be a Spartan, even after I escape the six months of influenza and snow that everyone here refers to as "winter."
Let me start by saying, I never thought I would say "I am proud to be a Spartan."
I grew up in New York and bounced around between schools a lot growing, finally graduating from high school in Grand Rapids, Michigan. Needless to say, I never really developed much school pride anywhere because I spent so little time at each school and never truly developed any real connection to any of them. I ended up at Michigan State for a variety of very good reasons but none of which were even remotely because I had any deep underlying connection to the green and white.
Four years later, I can honestly I have never been prouder to be a Spartan. My four years at MSU have truly been a remarkable experience in every possible aspect. I have found some of my closest friends here, learned some truly incredible things from some great professors, and have had unforgettable experiences. I know for a fact that while I may have a got a college experience at any school - I would not have had one even close to the one I have had here.
I am so proud of myself being a Spartan and there are so many reasons to that.
First of all, Michigan State Uni. is one of the greatest colleges in U.S (Big Ten University) and that it has great majors such as Hospitality and Supply Chain. MSU has offered me a great experience of learning new environment and different culture. There are lots of people who have different backgrounds and culture. I thought it would be challenging to me to be with people who are different, however, I came to adapt to new environment in Michigan so fast, since MSU is filled up with nice people. At first, I could not adapt to a "Michigan life style" since it seemed too country side, whereas other big cities. However, I have realized that MSU is the perfect place to experience campus life. It was first time for me living in a dorm, and compared to what my friends have told me about their college dorm, I loved how MSU had great cafeteria, and comfy environment. Also, I like how big our campus is!
I just love the fact that I am a SPARTAN!
The best part about being a Spartan is that you have the ablilty to make this community as large or as small as you want it to be. I can sit in the last row in B115 Wells and remain anynomus in my 600+ person Interpersonal Communications class, or I can venture down to the front and interact with the professors and other brave students. I can walk around this campus for hours and never see a familiar face one day, and do the same next day greeted by what seems like my entire graduating class from high school. I can go stand and scream until my voice is hoarse at Spartan Stadium, or I can quietly watch a football game alone in my living room. I can connect to the thousands of alumni on LinkedIn and beyond, or not- it's up to me. Besides, everyone looks great in Green. [Go Green.]
Like many high school seniors, I was lost in the college decision process, unsure of what I wanted to do and where I wanted to go. But unlike my visits to other colleges that still left me uncommited, I felt different in East Lansing. The first time I stepped on Michigan States Campus , I knew. I knew I would be a Spartan, not only the next four years, but forever. From the Saturday morning football games, to cramming in the library during finals week, I have learned to be a Spartan through and through. Our community is filled with amazing people and together we have amazing experiences. It is on MSU’s campus that I have matured into a young women. I have learned that too conqer the challenges life throws, you need to be persistant and always put your heart into your work. Michigan State gave me the tools to suceed and for that, I will always bleed green.
Its great to be a Spartan because going to MSU has defined who I am. I came to Michigan State from Georgia not knowing anyone, but soon found myself know people that i thought possible. Walking through a campus of 46 thousand people, I can find at least 4 people I know on a daily basis. I joined a Fraternity that not only has increased my social life but has helped me learn responsablites through leadership positions. It has also help me find way to overcome adversity as a leader. If i didnt attend MSU, I would have no clue where I would be right now, and I'm sure it would be completely different. It is my senior year and It is a very bittersweet thing to realize. All I can say is that I have enjoy my life here at MSU and am very proud to be a Spartan.
When I hear somebody say “Go Green”, I would respond with “Go White” with no hesitation. I think it is a spirit embedded into my heart, my blood. Yes, I’m proud I’m a Spartan.
When I first stepped into the campus, I even didn’t realize that was a campus. We don’t have a tall building with many securities; we even don’t the walls around to segregate the campus from the outside. It shows the spirit of openness, the freedom of being educated and getting knowledge. Now I’m working in New York City as a media management associate. I don’t like the campuses in New York which are mostly small, private and even not open to the public. I miss the great library, the big stadium, the honorable professors, the dear classmates, the fantastic football team, and the warm smiling faces in MSU.
I am a Spartan, a proud Spartan.
being a spartan means a lot to me. Since i am the first in my family to go to a university, i feel like there is a lot of pressure put on me, but i know ill feel very accomplished when i graduate form a very well known school. I dont know one person who hasnt heard of MSU. I know were known for partying, but who doesnt like to party? when it comes down to it, MSU has a TON to offer from clubs, organizations, majors, and networks. I actually just read something somewhere that MSU has the best alumni program or something like that, which i will be happy to be a part of after this last year. I als like being a spartan because to me, were a group of people who are very social, outgoing, and hard-working. Its an amazing feeling to be a part of something so great.
It's great to be a Spartan because of the atmosphere that surrounds Michigan State and the surrounding community. I came to Michigan State for a number of reasons: because I wanted to go to a "big" school where I wouldn't necessarily have someone watching my every move (my high school wasn't small but it wasn't necessarily large either, I just got sick of people always knowing what was going on because of how small it was); because I wanted to go to a Big Ten university with a legitimate athletics program so I could tailgate the Big Ten way and enjoy frequent coverage of our school on ESPN; but most importantly, because there are more Spartans in my family than any other university. Quite frankly, Michigan State was the natural choice.
I am very proud to be a Spartan. I chose to be a Spartan for many reasons, but mostly to have an oppurtunity not many people get. Michigan State University has a rich history with many stand out alumni that make me excited and motivated. Michigan State has offered me many great thing from a wide variety of dergress and countless clubs and organizations to be apart of. The social life at Michigan State is also a very unique experience that has taught me many great lessons. I am excited for what being a Spartan has for me later in my life when I can look back at my time here and what I have learned.
As my last year as an undergraduate is quickly coing to an end, I can honestly say MSU has taught me a lot and played a major part in my growth as a person. When thinking about what Universiity I wanted to go to, location was most definitely a factor in that decision. I didnt want to be too close but then again I didnt want to be too far either. About 80 miles away from home, MSU was the perfect place to experience campus life while still having the option of visiting home if I wanted to. MSU taught me to be more responsible and independent. I learned that in order to progress and be successful in life I need to step outside of my comfort zone because thats where most things will get accomplished.
For those who dont attend MSU, MSU is just a party school. As a Spartan I know otherwise. I do get to enjoy the night life but when it comes that time, I handle my academic business. MSU offers a wide variety of majors as well as a wide selection of organizations to get involved in and become more well-rounded. Compared to a lot of other Universities, Michigan States campus is huge. I have my own little community filled with lots of diverse individuals. Everyday is a learning experience and this is why I love MSU. GO GREEN!
It's great to be a spartan because you know you're getting taught by the best of the best. The resources we have here our endless and you get to build a network of connections that will prove to be useful for the rest of your career. Having a huge variety of programs and majors also comes along with going to a big university like Michigan State. There are endless of ways to get involved and active here on campus. In addition to the great education we receive, we also get a great experience. The school spirit is always high, the students are friendly, and the professors and advisors always provide to be helpful. All and all, it's great to be a spartan.
It is great to be a Spartan because when they tell you that you are being taught by top people in the field, they aren't lying, that isn't propaganda. Spartan professors literally wrote the book on the important topics in their fields. You get a world class education at a Big Ten University, where you aren't just a number. The possibilities at State are endless.
Being a Spartan, I am proud to be a Spartan,
because over 45000 people, big campus, huge social network with professors, and
pretty much everything better than other school. I remembered when I came to
MSU first time. People were so nice even I am the international student. That’s
why I am still doing very well at school with all different kind of people. I
never get this feeling that all people have passion for our school. When I was
in my college in Korea, I didn’t have that feel much. With Spartan saga, we
share people’s mind that what they really think about MSU. I will definitely make my own story soon and share my story with all people in MSU.
Being a Spartan is one of the BEST things I have ever done in my life so far. First, it is a 40,000+ community and it is great because I have so many opportunities to meet all kinds of people around the campus. I love making friends and share different experiences, knowledges and talents with them. Spartans are always showing their spirit, enthusiasm and pride during all kinds of events, especially sport events. That is just so cool. Second, MSU has the best advertising and PR program in the United States. This is also the main purpose for me to study here from thousand miles away. I really enjoy my life here (except for the weather during the winter time...). I am really proud of being a Spartan!!
Being a Spartan means a number of things to me, all of which make me very proud. Despite having 40,000+ students, unity is apparent and strong as we have tremendous school spirit! Not only are we known for athletics with great coaches, and top althletes gracing the court/field, but we are leaders in so many academic fields (supply chain, packaging, nuclear physics, etc.). Being a Spartan is all about balance, we are intelligent AND we work hard. Academics come first, but we know how/when to have a good time. I have heard from countless sources that employers worldwide consider MSU graduates to be some of the most tenacious and hardworking employees they've ever seen. Moreover, Spartans have the largest presence abroad than any other big ten university. This past summer, I was in a small pub in Scotland, and there was a scottish musician performing. During one of his songs he paused to ask my friend and I where we were from. After telling him we were from Michigan, he asked "Spartan or Wolverine?" He was glad when we responded "Spartan", as it turned out one of his best friends was an MSU grad! It's great to be a Spartan, because we are determined, hardworking, balanced indivduals that get the job done!
I'm proud to be a spartan. I think it is a great university with numerous opportunities for students. There are so many activities available on campus that directly relate to helping students better themselves for their future careers. There are advisors that will help guide you in the right direction and if you are lost they are more than happy to show you the way. Not only is there a specialized aspect to the campus there is also a huge diversity. With over 45,000 students there are many ways to get engaged. All the people have a certain charm to them. Everyone is super friendly and it's hard to find someone that you don't get along with. It seems that people bond over their common root of spartan spirit that isn't as common on other campuses. Not only are the people friendly but the campus is unbelievable. It has a history to it , and with it being so old it's really a nice thing to be a part of. Especially since the buildings are still intact from the orginal campus it makes you feel like you a part of something special. It is also a big ten school so it well recognized around the nation and even the globe. And we are able to compete with some of the best in the nation. Unlike the other schools Michigan State has a history to it and is also has a new age feel to it. It is a unique atmosphere that really is unable to be replicated.
I first want to say that MSU has over 40,000 students. This is a nice size network for a campus. I really like the social aspect about MSU. Along with a huge social network, MSU provides a huge variety of programs and organization that fits the needs of every student. The staff is wonderful. There is always someone to help you out when you need it. Also there are not a lot of strict rules on campus like I have heard at other campuses. MSU allows students to be theirselves and get the whole college experience.
Going to school at Michigan State is great. First of all socially it's an amazing place. with 45,000 students in attendance its inherantly a great place to meet all different types of people, which can be a great help when dealing with people in the business world later in life. The academics are great as well, the professors all know there stuff, there are plenty of majors available, and many of the facilities are top notch. The campus is also the most beautiful in the state of michigan. If only it would stay warmer for the grunt of the year it would be close to a perfect setting. The parties aren't half bad either....
Being a spartan has many benefits. Why I love being a spartan is going to a school where you can walk around campus and know that it's exactly where you want to be. The campus, the students, and the sports are what make MSU such a great place to be. The fact that there's so much diversity for students, academic wise, extra curricular activities, sports, clubs, and people. We have the largest study abroad program, our sports are good, and we have a large campus with over 40,000 students who love it as well. There are so many people who have gone or go to Michiga State and it's a great place to network. What I love about it too is the face that being in East Lansing I feel like we're in our own city and it's a city filled with love for East Lansing and being a Spartan.
It's great to be a Spartan because there is something here for everyone. MSU has so many majors people can choose from, and in turn attracts an incredibly diverse student body. It's also great to be a Spartan because of the large sense of community that stems from this college town. And of course, our sports are unreal and nothing beats an MSU tailgate!
It is great to be a Spartan because I know that I have access to great connections that will help me throughout my life. Unlike other schools that are more liberal arts based, Michigan State Spartans walk away from college with a degree they can use to find a job. It is not always necessary to go to Grad School and Michigan State programs help to prepare its students for those entry-level jobs. I love being a Spartan because I know that I will have a strong network to connect with for the rest of my life. Spartans are proud, hard workers, and driven to succeed. I am very proud and am happy that I get to be part of the Spartan tradition.
MSU was not my first choice when it came to colleges, I was actually considering other University in large urben when I was in high school. I lived Vancouver while attending secondary school in Canada, I couldn't imagine I would have to live in this small city. Also, I heard about MSU is a party school and expensive tuition for international students. However, my friend attends MSU and she told me that it's good school for academic purposes. It's first time living in States for me and I found new people and environment here.
After I decided to attend MSU, because it has good program for Advertising major. I don't like the circumstances here 100%, but I'm here for studying so I chose MSU. I like watching football games or basketball games MSU versus other schools.
Furthermore, if other people would come to MSU, I would recommend this school to others - academics, student communities, study abroad, etc.
I watched several MSU saga, and I felt interested that different people have different stories and different thinking about being a Spartan.
I’m an international student who comes from Taiwan. This is my second semester in MSU. In fact, when I applied the advertising program for master degree, I focused on the school’s reputation, faculty, resource and so on. Hence, I didn’t understand the school’s culture very well. After I came here, I suddenly realized that I’ve become a Spartan already! Although schoolwork is very busy, I still spent some time on joining school’s events. I watched football games and basketball games. I wear green t-shirt and use green folders. Gradually, I’m really engaged in being a Spartan! Also, I’m so proud of being a Spartan because MSU has the strong football team and has high reputation in academy.
It is great to be a Spartan because I get to network and meet a whole bunch of people from different walks of life and get to hear their stories and learn from them. Being a spartan has drastically changed my life because it has afforded me a lot of great opportunities that I wouldnt get if I didnt go to a Big Ten school like Michigan State. My dad is a Michigan State Alum is it brings me great honor to follow in his footsteps as well.
To me, being a Spartan is primarily because of its welcome to international students. Here I make friends with so many people from different backgrounds but pursuing big dreams of at the same place.
The first time when I truly loved to be a Spartan was when I wen to Florida with friends of MSU. We saw someone standing on shore wearing a shirt with a Spartan sign when we were in a boat. Girls became so exited and shouted immediately: “go green” to that gay. Without hesitation, he responded: “go white!” with a big warm smile. It was like seeing family.
A subtle feeling of caring each other and encouraging each other cheered me to be a Spartan. It is more than the competent faculties, amazing football games, and the delicious Sparty coffees. I find a belongingness.
It's great to be a Spartan because of the amazing football games that are put on by our amazing players; of the exciting basketball games that united every Spartan sitting in the Breslin. Also, MSU is a diverse university, with students from a variety of countries around the world, which also gives MSU the advantage of cultural diversity, and becoming a globalized university. Diverse international students also provides MSU with great facilities to conduct research.
I chose MSU to continue my graduate study mainly due to its high academic ranking in communication and relatively low living expense. There are many excellent professors with both valuable work and research experience, which I can learn a lot from. So being a Spartan means being a outstanding PR or advertising practitioner in future. As I stay longer, I can understand deeper the meaning of being a Spartan. We are no longer merely belong to the university, but to represent the whole city. Especially when there is a football game, it's the perfect time for the integration of a university and a city. I'm so proud and moved to be a Spartan.
I agree on the excellent faculty. Working with them has been the most rewarding part of my Master's in TISM as well. Also the brilliant Jessica Vitak agrees by the way. I guess, she expresses what a lot of people think: When you receive so much and are welcomed with open arms, it also motivates you to give back.
I enrolled as an undergrad at MSU a LONG time ago now. I remember visiting with my Father during my decision on which school to attend and stepping out of the car for the first time in East Lansing and it just felt like home. Before my visit, I hadn't even set foot in the state of Michigan much less East Lansing. I'm very proud of my education - earning a B.A. in Advertising in 2001. Since then, I've had many opportunities to network with, and because of my place in, the Spartan family. In my work experience, I've often brought up my background and training from such a highly regarded Advertising Program to raised eyebrows and compliments. I am currently earning my Masters Degree in Advertising because I know it will open even bigger doors. Go Green!
I like being a Spartan because I feel like I'm getting a quality education (for the most part). I also like that MSU offers so many different degree programs, minors, specializations, not to mention greek life, clubs, organizations, and other available social networking opportunities. I like that I have had classes with as many as 600+ students and as few as 8. As a spartan, one can experience practically anything they want: sporting events, big classes, small classes, volunteering, employment, etc. The selling point for me (and I'm sure many other students) was that there are endless opportunities for students at MSU.
I first came to MSU only because they offered the major I wanted and U of M did not. However, since I've been here I have found many reasons to stay. There is something at MSU for everyone. Sport fans have our amazing teams and intermural sports. Bookworms have challenging classes to work through. Socialites have parties and gatherings they can attend every weekend. MSU is not just a school for engineers and nurses (like our rival) but it is there for everyone. That is what really makes me glad to be a Spartan.
The score is tied at 31 and there are 4 seconds left on the clock. I saw the ball released from the Spartan’s quarterback and the game clock had been stopped at the same time. I believe many MSU students still remember the last week game against Wisconsin. I really felt proud of myself to being a Spartan looking at our Spartans who fight for the unbelievable win. There are hundreds of schools they've never had any NCAA titles or even been to any major tournaments. MSU has the one the top athletic program in the nation and I feel lucky to be a Spartan to watch and expereicne this great program.
MSU was not my first choice when it came to colleges, I was actually considering University of Michigan when I was in high school. I had this impression from everyone that MSU wasn't high in academics and it was a major party school (stereotypes I assume still circulate). After giving some thought about where I wanted to go for college, money and location, I decided to go with MSU. Now, most of my friends went to U. Mich, so I decided to branch out and meet new people in a new environment. Coming to MSU I have made so many new friends and experienced a life I never would have if I decided to set four years of my life in Ann Arbor.
MSU has been a huge life-changing experience, constantly challenging me. The stereotypes that are put on MSU aren't true because I find that no matter how "party-animal" people are, they all care about their education and all have so much on their plates. It's weird to see because I'm not use to that impression of people. MSU has a lot to offer and it's an incredible place. I'm a camera shy person so I don't know if I'll end up making a Spartan Saga video, but I would have a lot to say because college, especially at MSU, is something I would never trade away.
My path, my journey, my growth from teenager to adult has been dramatic. I came in immature about the world, and trying to find my way...now I find that I'm really challenging myself and pushing myself to see how much I can accomplish and overcome. I'm really proud of how far I've come and how I have matured into the adult that I am. College is a huge experience that really changes your life, especially at MSU :)
Go Green, Go White! Go Spartans!!
Well....I was planning on waiting to create my Spartan Saga video until my celebratory European cruise this coming summer! Myself, my husband, and our two best friends, who are going to become Spartan Alumni next May, will be taking our vacation to celebrate graduation. And of course we will have many photos of green & white in Spain, Italy, Croatia, etc...to share!
Becoming a Spartan has created so many opportunities for me. Actually, I truly believe that it is because of this class and MSU that I am the Public Relations & Communications Intern for The McKinney Foundation, where I am introducing them to social media, creating and building out their networks, and managing them. Just yesterday, the Executive Director, Tiah McKinney, and myself met with the Wayne County Health Department to discuss The Foundation's involvement in creating a healthier Detroit. Later in the day, we met with the Detroit Commissioner Andre Spivey and the M.O.O.V.E task force! It is great to see eyebrows raise when I am introduced as an MSU Graduate student...it really impresses many of these powerful people! In fact, some of them cheer and yell, "Spartans!". I have made so many connections in such a small amount of time, and I still have about a year until I graduate!
When I hear “Go Green,” I reflexively scream back “Go White.” I have listened to the chimes of the Beaumont Tower and spent countless nights posted up in the library. I’ve walked from one end of campus to the other and back again as a scared freshman afraid to take the bus, and then again walked those same sidewalks with confidence on the second and third time around ready to take on another year.
I am a Spartan because I bleed green, but, more importantly, I am a Spartan because I am involved in this community we call a university. I am using the resources thrust upon me by an institution intending to create tomorrow’s next great leaders. I literally live (by going to class and working in the College of Communication Arts and Sciences building), eat (in the cafeteria, of course), sleep (in my dorm as a proud resident of East Holden Hall) and breathe (the crisp, cool air on campus this time of year) Michigan State University. I have taken the time to get to know my professors, advisors and administrators and have built relationships with those surrounding me as my college years speed on by. It is great to be a Spartan because this institution allows those type of relationships to be created. We all go to college for the same thing: to get educated, but what most fail to see if that college can be so much more than just an education. It can be an experience. It is up to the students that attend this fine institution we call MSU to soak up that experience with vigor. I feel by experiencing college, and MSU in particular, for all that it is worth you become a part of something bigger than yourself, a sort of family. This family we call Spartans.
When I was first accepted into Michigan State University, I have to admit- I wasn't sure if that's where I would end up in the future. I a couple great schools to pick from, and it was a tough choice but I obviously ended up at MSU. I really had no ties to Michigan State, other than a couple of my cousins coming here a while ago, but I had to create my Spartan experience from scratch for myself. I came here knowing no body, with no ties or prior involvment to anything on campus. Since my freshman year at MSU (now a junior) I have come so far. Not only am I an active member of a sorority on campus, but I am also involved in clubs and other activities here at state. My friends and professors at MSU have taught me how to manage my time as well as be motivated and passionate about whatever it is that I chose to do or become involved in. The people here have so much pride for the green and white and it's definitely contagious. Michigan State has already given me so many amazing opportunities and shaped me into the woman I am today. I can't wait to see what the next year and a half holds for me and I am proud to say that I am a SPARTAN!!
This is my fourth year being an offical Spartan but I have always been one at heart. I can remember coming to MSU to visit my aunt and thingking "When I grow up I want to be a Spartan." It has always been my dream to attend MSU as a student and now I have! In December I can say that I am a proud graduate of Michigan State University. Being a Spartan is more than just the school. What makes Spartans great is their commitment to their school and student community. Our football team hasn't always been great, like the last four years, but the fans never gave up on their team. Being a Spartan is a privlege and an honor. It's more than just the classes you take or the seal on your diploma, it is the experiences you have while you are here, the lessons you learn whether in class or not, and the people you meet.
Why is it great to be a Spartan? Because Spartans are great! Here at Michigan State I have truly become a Spartan. I have become passionate, hard working, and found appreciation for many new things. I am originally from Ann Arbor, home of the blue and gold, but ever since I was accepted to MSU, I have only bleed green. The school pride here is outstanding, which is one reason why MSU is really so great. Being able to yell "Go Green" anywhere and at anytime on campus and have someone resond "Go White" is true definition of school pride. We all belong to the same community and have the same passion for our colors. This has always been important to me coming from being a cheerleader and all about school spirit in high school. Michigan State is also a great place to reside because it teaches you how to be hard working and how it can pay off. The programs offered here are exceptional. Once you find your niche and put in the effort the outcomes can me outstanding. We all come to school to hopefully get a great job after graduation and MSU has proven itself to be capable of such a thing. However the main reason why I believe being a Spartan is the best choice for anyone is because of how it makes you grow and appreciate. When I was 16, if you asked me to walk 30 minutes in the snow I would have laughed in your face. Now it is what I do every winter to make sure I get to my classes on time, even those grueling 8 am classes. I have learned an appreciation for others as well. Joining a sorority here at Michigan State was one of the best decisions of my life. Spartans are Greek, so why shouldn't I be also, right? The amount of people you meet and the experiences that come along with it are something you can't experience anywhere or anytime else. Communication and acceptance are not traits one learns very easily, but here at MSU I have learned these valuable lessons - and this is why being a Spartan is everything. It's great.
Becoming a Spartan is one of the better decisions I've made in my life. I have met so many new and genuine people from all parts of the world while being a student here. There is strange bond everyone shares attending MSU. I believe who we are as students reflects the university. Socially we are all ambitious and know have to good time but when it comes down to getting work done we can turn off the party switch and get things done. I'm also proud to say our sports teams are always competing to win the big ten every year and I will keep cheering for them. And if anyone hasn't seen MSU's campus in the fall and spring they're missing out on something very special. Not too many schools have as beautiful campuses as ours.
