So the latest rumor in the tech space... - Google is expected to sell "Terminator Glasses" which will stream information, entertainment, maybe even ads in augmented-reality-like fashion.  It must be true - The New York Times and Mashable said so.

They were also reported to build Driverless Cars, invested nearly $1Billion in Clean Energy Technologies and companies, buils its own high speed fiber network in Kansas City (Google Fiber promises data at speeds more than 100 times faster than what's available now) and apparently have a mysterious Google X Lab where more crazy ideas are developed

How does that fit into Google's core products and it's philosophy

Is Google a "One Trick Pony" that really is only good in Search and should stick to it, or is it an innovation hub that should continue to create and push new products, services and technologies.

To better answer this question, I searched for Google’s Philosophy, as stated clearly in the “about” company website. 10 more things are there beyond being “the perfect search engine”. Google’s dream is far more than being good in search, and I believe this tremendous company can achieve its goal of innovation and creation. As a customer of Google, it is already far more than a search engine to me. Google Reader,  Doc, Alerts, Email and product like Google+ for social networking. It has already acted more than a search engine. However, when Google’s plan is far beyond internet techniques, as stated in blog, a Smartphone or a car, I lost my 100% trust on Google. I mean, with Google’s great technique support and brand image, it would attract lots of customers’ attentions at first. But it will totally depend on new products’ performance after Google launched them. And it is risky for Google to venture outside the comfort zone. Google will win a lot if the products are good, but will lose a lot if the new things could not satisfy customers’ expectations, which, I have to say, are pretty high.

I believe that Google is an innovation hub and should continue to create new products. Google has successfully improved the web, so they are more than capable of creating innovative products, services, and technologies to improve the world. Google is contantly updating their brand; they have excellent research teams that are wonderful at executing ideas to satisfy their customers. Google has already ventured out of just being a search engine site (Google+, Google Wallet, moblie apps), so why not get their foot out the door and create porducts. I learn new things about Google everyday, they are always one step ahead. I am confident that Google will continue to surpise me by creating products that make completing everyday tasks much simplier. The "Google Googles" seem futuristic and amazing, I hope the rumors are true!

I think Google should definitely be considered an innovation hub. Through their outstanding success in search and their user friendly tools I would trust Google’s consumer products to be effective and high quality. This company has an outstanding image and the more I research and learn about Google the more opportunities I discover on the web. I trust that they will develop products to help improve our lives similar to how they improve my web experience.  They specialize in search making me confident they will use the best research and technologies to develop their products. I am excited to see what Google brings to the market, and I am sure it will be something impressive.

I personally, feel that Google should stick to their "search engine" roots. Google has come up with many new things since the beginning, Google+, Google Wallet, etc, and I have yet to utilize the other functions. I have Google+ for this class, but I don't use it as often as other functions. With that said, I would not be surprised if Google proved me wrong. They are such a strong company and could do so much. If these Goggles came to life, I would most certainly have to check it out!
