Really cool video, I think it's funny that the Facebook entry age has been lowered to 13 considering I didn't get one until my sophmore year of college. But it speaks to the fact that the digital wave is expanding. The video said that videos will account for 2/3 of mobile usage which I think sounds a little high but than again advertising is becoming more and more digital everyday. Overall cool video!
Really enjoyed the video. He used very fascinating facts to really grab your attention. I can't say that I would fall into the 53% that would rather lose their sense of smell than lose their technology. To answer the question posed at the end of the video, no, I don't think I am ready for the social media revolution. Given the big push for everything to be done via technology and social media, do you think this validates people's concern that personal, face-to-face interaction is going to be weak?
Do you have any tips on increasing my knowledge on social media when applying for social media positions? Are their some specific ideas I should know how to do that will make me "standout"?
I really enjoyed this video, and also I had learn lot of new information about digital media through this class.
This is such a great video! I want to keep up with Social Media and become a part of the change it is constantly doing, do you recommend any sites or tips for the future?
The interest of the elders is a valid point but how many users under 30 is more important. These next generations will be all over technology and controlling the mobile world. I wonder why that was not a bigger picture in this video.
Seniors are the fastest growing demographic on Twitter? I wonder why grandparents would be attracted to the Twitter format.
Those statistics were wild, I would like to know how they gathered the information on these statistics, it seems like it may be a hard thing to measure given the gap of technology between 1st and 3rd world countries. If all of the data is correct (not that im doubting it) would the numbers be close to 100 percent if 3rd world countries had greater access to technology?
Everything this video has to say is absolutely true which scares me. I hate how reliable the world is becoming to technology and social media. However, I have come to the realization that there's no fighting it so I might as well join in and capitalize. Social Media is taking over the world so why not have a career in it? I took my two loves of business and creativity and messed it to find advertising and public realtions. Now I can add my skills to my addiction to make a living. The soical media world and digital marketing industry isn't going away any time soon. unemployment in this industry won't be an issue.
I loved what they said about wearable tech. I recently saw a tweet of a Time Magazine cover depicting the future of wearable tech (I've attached the image!). I was a little bit shocked at first when I heard the stat about over half of millenials being willing to lose their sense of smell before their technology. But, after a few seconds, I realized it made sense and that most people I know could certainly feel that way. That statistic alone is reason enough for a brand to focus its efforts on promoting its new media. Everything else was super interesting but not quite as shocking. It will be interesting to see what 2/3 looks like as applied to video presence in media.
I think this class is very interesting. I had learn a lot of tip and information in this class, but the only things that I wondering is how why nowadays why people like to use social media?
This is a really great video. Even though it is scary to learn more people have a digital device than a toothbrush, the video shows me how quickly the world is changing. After taking this class, the power of social media showed me that companies would not be able to expand target audiences or receive instant feedback from the customers’ perspective without social media.
I knew how fast mobile and social network is increasing but it still shocked me when all the statistical datas are put together. Especially, I agree with how wearable technology allows everything to be real time because the market is expanding more and more. Even though most of the wearable devices are in the form of watches and bracelets, the technology will still allow us to connect to the world with no problem.
Very interesting. It shows how much marketing is evolving for millennials. The thing that surprised me the most was the average person has an attention span of 7 seconds. Thats as long as a Vine video. Many ideas started coming into my head on how to make people connect with a brand in under 7 seconds.
We're definitely seeing a huge dependence on technology in recent years, so it makes sense that companies design effective mobile websites. I personally find myself using my phone to navigate websites and do online shopping more than I do on a laptop or desktop computer. Giving customers easy and quick mobile access to a business's website is essential, epecially considering more people have mobile phones than toothbrushes, as this video points out.
When do you think that the government will start giving grants and subsidies to companies who go into business the traditional way? Will, and in your opinion, when will there be a time in the future that tech companies and apps become obsolete and will need to be replaced by something newer.
This video shows how much and just how quickly our world is changing to be all media based. Nothing is being left up to the imagination and everything is at our finger tips. The amount of information and how one person saying something about a brand can quickly turn into your brand name - whether it's wanted or unwanted. It's kind of scary to me honestly, but at the same time it is amazing how connected everyone will be in the next 10 years.
What does LinkedIn gain by lowering its required age to 13? Will this effect how users view this social media platform?
I like the video! Very interesting. Will desktop computers ever become obsolete? I can see the average person using mobile for almost 100% of their use on the internet and social media. But I don't think desktop computers will NOT be a thing. For people like editors, graphic designers, etc..
Everything is going mobile in the future but where is mobile actually stopped? Does Ipads and other tablets still account for this or does it just strictly mean cellphone usage? I personally hate using my phone for anything but quick searches so I can see it slowing down in the near future.
This video is very interesting. I wonder what inspired Erik to do this. I think the part that was really interesting was the part about people rather losing their sense of smell than their technology. At the same time, this doesnt surprise me. I wonder what the result would be if it was taste. #GoGreen
Very interesting video! Considering more and more people are doing things on their mobile devices and tablets it makes sense that one day we will be completely mobile. I'd be interested to see what the thoughts on digital media will be once the autonomous vehicle is more prevalent.
I thin kthis video also sums up the importance of how things work in today's world with brand recognition and the change with digital marketing. How can we be sure to enhance word of mouth when so much of it happens without the company knowing? People just mention things to each other and often no one is happy, so where does that leave marketers?
This really makes me think about how much things have changed. What place does traditional advertising have in our world today? Do the old concepts still apply?
After watching this video all I can think of is what we can expect to see in the future when it comes to mobile devices and how we will use them. Technology is always being enhanced and changing, and I can only imagine that it is only so long until society fully relies on it to function.
I thought this video was very surprising. It really put into perspective how important it is for companies to be connecting with users on digital platforms, since that's where people are getting their information from in today's world. This video also made me realize how important it is for me to constantly be learning about new technologies and social media platforms since that is the current and future norm. I'm excited to see where digital will take us in these upcoming years!
This video was very eye opening. The fact that more people own a smartphone than a toothbrush is a little disgusting. I'm curious about how that statistic was found. Seeing a video like this, however, makes me excited about my future career in advertising and public relations.
Wow! This is a very interesting video that you posted. I can't believe that many people join LinkedIn everyday. What social media platform do you think will be the one that people use most in the next 10 years?
Very interesting video. Some of the facts presented in this are almost unbelievable. There is no arguing that digital media is already, and going to continue to play a huge role in the the development of marketing media plans. Successsfully using digital advertising to enhance brand image and awareness of brands is key to building effective marketing campaigns. This video brings awareness to the growing section of digital media and the influence it can have on potential customers.
I found this video very interesting, it brought forward a lot of facts I wasn't aware of. I would have never guessed that grandparents are the fastest growing twitter member nor that the world's greatest population is Facebook. The amount of media in our daily lives baffles me. I found the four C's of Digital to be very accurate. If you look at the advertising of today on social media it represents each of these well, especially the fourth of culture. Social media has become such a large part of our everyday lives and culture I can see where it would easily benefit an advertiser to include that in with their strategy.
This is a great video--it's very creative and informative (I had no idea that seniors are the fastest demographic on twitter). It's also crazy to think that more people own a mobile device than a toothbrush! The future of digital marketing and social media is both facinating and somewhat scary. Everything is so connected and people are more technology reliant than ever. I know a handful of people that would rather connect and speak with someone using technology than face-to-face. I've learned a lot in this class and I'm especially excited that I will be using what I've learned next semester. I will be an intern at the MSU museum, where I will be putting together their digital stategy. This was a great class, thanks for everything.
This video is interesting and well-summaried. Social media has such influence around the world. It is really great that I take this course and I really enjoy it. Thank you, professor. From this class, I learned a lot of knowledge that I cannot learn from other classes. The video mentioned people who own a mobile device even more than own a toothbrush. So this class will be really helpful if I will do the job relate to this area.
This is a good video, very informative and well put together. The Social Media Revolution is facinating, but also somewhat frightening because of the interconnected everything has become. The revolution has made life easier for many people and industries, but at what cost. The more evolved social media becomes the less people build genuine connections, and we start to miss out on benefits of face-to-face interations.
This video was really interesting to watch. In the future, I wish I could make videos like that. I enjoyed taking ADV 420 class this semester. I learned a lot about marketing and advertising. I definitley think taking this class will help me in the future.
This video was very well-put together and eye opening! It summed up what is happening right now and what is expected to happen in the near future. I learned many things from this class, social media and technology based. I really did not think the world population was so dependent on social media and the internet until this class. I'm not sure if it's a good or bad thing, that the whole world is becoming more and more technology efficient; it's not necessary bad, but it also becomes an issue when people are saying they would rather lose their sense of smell than their cell phone. I really enjoyed this class, it taught me how to dig deeper within companies whom I thought were ordinary and doing well on the front. I also enjoyed the fact that I could take the lessons I learned in this class and also intertwine them with my other classes, they all kind of bounce off of each other.
Really interesting video. Seeing how the world has more mobile devices than toothbrushes really is a shocking fact to learn. Learning the power of social media over this past semester has been really interesting so many of the fact in the video do not suprise me as much as they normally would. Crazy to think about how much the digital world influences us everyday.
After taking this class, the power of social media does not surprise me as much as before. Without social media, companies would not be able to reach target audiences or be able to understand them as well. Understanding an audience is crucial for today's marketing. I found this video to be a wonderful summary to the course, especially after developing full digital strategies.
Really neat video! Really is quite scary though because the future of digital media is evolving around us at such a fast pace. I found some things very interesting in the video. For example, I was not aware seniors are becoming the most popular on Twitter. Also, did not know we have an attention span of .07 seconds, while goldfish have a .08 second attention span - that is quite scary! Very cool video though. I will be showing my friends this one!
I learned a lot new things about social media by this course during this semester. It is amazing that social media has so much influence on our wolrd, and it was totally different 10 years ago. To learn better skills of using social media, it is a necessary lesson for everyone in today's world.
This video was very interesting and I learned a lot ! I loved the good bye 4 ps and hello 4 c's because it seemed innovative. Also it is crazy that over 50% of the worlds population is under 30 years old.
This is a very interesting video and i really enjoyed in taking this class. I am not surprised that there are so many people all over the world with a smart phone. Smart phone is very useful in today's society. However, people communicate with each other through the Internat rather than talk with each other face to face.

The video is really interesting, I am suprised by some informations, like the Linkedin age limit lower to 13 years old. I mean that it is good for people to know and learn about social media earlier, but for Linkedin, it is more like a business type social media, 13 years kid does not need to find a job, but it can actually help him to prepare.
I learned a lot new things about social media by this course during this semester. It is pretty amazing that social media has so much influences on our wolrd now, it was not meaning that much 10 years ago. Things about social media are changing so fast, and people's oopinions about social media are also changing. I feel one day that using social media to communicate will become a daily things for everyone.
i like this video. it is true that 90 precent of people trust peer recommendtions.
I love that this was made by an MSU Alumni, but I still am interested in where a lot of his number come from. I did a research project this year about people using social media to look at different brands and my numbers were very different than those in the short film.
I am not surprised at most of these population statistics and that mobile drives over 50% of all ecommerce traffic. However, is it really necessary for 13 year olds to be on LinkdIn? In my opinion that seems like an odd age limit.
very interesting... It's good to learn something new.
