Speaking of Twitter, have you heard of Twitter Advertising? In this post you can see how Twitter can help you generate leads. Pretty cool if you ask me. I wonder if any of you have experimented with Twitter advertising yet?
Twiter is already a great way for brands to monitor the conversation, engage their fans, and respond to requests. But now you can advertise and generate leads. And who doesn't love Lead Generation?
At Ingenex Digital Marketing we focus on generating leads for customers using Inbound Marketing. This very much includes Twitter advertising. Take a look at this little video we made.
What are your thoughts on Twitter advertising? Maybe look into it and use what you find as a blog post on your blog? Maybe it will inspire your marketing plan for your client this semester.
One more thing. We talked about photos to use on your blogs. We recently found a site that allows you to search the Creative Commons photos from Flickr. Be careful because the first few images shown are Pay-to-Use images, but the rest are free to use. Here is the site: http://photopin.com/
Comments & Feedback
I have heard of twitter advertising but am not that familiar with it. I have been deactivated from Twitter for awhile now until this class so that is why. From what I know though it is pretty effective. There are a ton of people on Twitter so I'm sure advertisements on there get a ton of attention.
Twitter is so very effective with keeping communities in the loop and for up-to-date information. With consistently trending topics, one can stay on top of the issues at hand. By simply using the hashtag, a person can connect with and track down the specific topic. For example if somebody happened to be looking for a specific concert ticket, by using a hashtag they can come in contact with someone with the same interests/be able to learn more information. Using Twitter for advertising is a great way to contact someone quickly and currently. Twitter will remain a great place for advertising for time to come.
The social network has become an important platform for social media. As one of the biggest native advertising platform, social network platform attract the majority of companies to use social network like Facebook and twitter to communicate with customers. This kind of promotional information and advertisements works really well to connect with customers and influence customer buying behaviors. The topic I choose is about the relationship with promotional tweets and people's buying behaviors or intentions. Usually the promotional tweets contain URL links that lead to the official website.
Why not advertise throught twitter? Every other form of social media is advertising to its users, so it only seems fitting. I think it's a smart idea and should be done without being said. Twitter has over 200 million users to market to and the whole idea of retweeting and pushing ads into twitter feeds is a great idea. The ads I've seen so far are basically "tweets" coming from the company's account promoting a specific product. I know these are ads because they will pop into my feed when I'm not following that specific company or product. I don't mind this advertsing as long as it doesn't start becoming too common throughout my feed. The use of people's hashtags should also assist companies with targeting specific users and target audiences, this is something other forms of social media don't have to offer.
In the digital media world we live in today, advertising through twitter and other social network sites can have numerous benefits. Millions of people have Twitter accounts allowing them to share information and personal reflections and ideas towards products. Not only is advertising through Twitter comparatively cheaper than other media sources, it can have a ripple effect which can reach out to a huge population in a short time. However, in order to have a positive outcome in Twitter advertising, marketers should be make sure the advertisement is simple and concise and it should leave a powerful impact on the viewers. Twitter advertising can also be beneficial since many consumers can see the reviews instantly allowing them to get familiar with the products.
I think advertising through twitter is a great idea. Pretty much everyone I know has a twitter account. You can reach a broad audience because people across the world have twitter accounts. I personally will check twitter atleast five times a day. This means that at any point there could be millions of people checking their twitter and possibly seeing a companies advertisement. With people becoming so dependent on technology, it is important to be able to advertise through a median that is easily accessable, and I believe twitter is the perfect way to reach potential customers.
Recently, twitter users rapidly increase than past years. Using twitter is one of the best way to advertise because people uses twitters a lot. Nowaday, social media is important than past years. Due to the advance of technology, people can access to twitter at anywhere and anytime.
I believe that advertising on Twitter is the prefect way to optimize the world of social media. Everyday, millions of tweets are sent out all over the world. The amount of time that is spent on social connecting sites is infinite. By posting advertisements, businesses and clients are able to not only send out information on a product being sold, but also allows their advertisements to be “shared,” “re-tweeted,” and forwarded along to other potential clientele. The idea is ingenious if you ask me. In this current generation, the best way to target a direct audience is through social media. Most people don’t have time anymore to sit down everyday and flip through a newspaper or lie on the couch and watch TV for hours. When people have a brief second between classes, lunch breaks, or even waiting for appointments, the first thing they do is take out their phones and scroll through their apps. Our world is so technologically advanced that it was only a matter of that Twitter would catch on to this tactic. Advertising is simply keeping up with the fast paced life we now live in today. While social media is expanding, so are the advancements of ideas.
I think the idea of Twitter advertising is an extremely innovative and a profitable idea. Using Internet based technology and social networking together to better target potential customers and develop a greater return on investment for an ad campaign is ingenious. My understanding of Twitter advertising is that the service will allow brands/marketers to target customers who have been directly exposed to their ads on TV: "TV ad targeting.” By targeting a customer for a second time with a similar message to the one they have just watched on TV, there is a much higher probability that they will recognize the ad and become better aware of the message the ad is trying to get across. I know for me personally, it takes several times watching a particular ad or hearing about a particular brand for me to register what I am actually observing. Therefore, by granting marketers an alternative and unique platform to directly reach out to customers, I truly believe they will target more customers and increase brand awareness. With that being said, I am very interested to see how Twitter will continue to develop and roll out “Twitter advertising” and which companies/brands will buy in.
I think twitter advertising is an incredible idea. The idea of requiring companies to keep their messages small, sweet, and consistant allows them the freedom to touch ideas that might generally be questionable and not allowed in a traditional setting. In addition, it makes it difficult to drift away from the topic. The message would be focused and direct. For example, the idea of sarcasm would have never been allowed with traditional print or video media, however, I believe that companies can effectively use tags about current events related to and/or joking about a present subject to promote their brand or idea. For example, say that toyota had the gas pedal issue again [hint: P.R. nightmere]---Ford could start with some tweets like:
"Ford brake pedal--BUILT FORD TOUGH. discount4toyota owners #toyotaacceleration #toyota #ford #gaspedal"
For only allowing 140 characters, I believe that Twitter has the ability to pack a powerful punch. I think that as far as virality goes, out of Twitter we some of the fastest trends and quickest implementation for new accounts coinciding with events. They often have a far reach, but I also think that those who use Twitter are more casually browsing and not looking for anything to purchase, per se. Some brands have very succesful online presences such as Taco Bell; whose Twitter account reaches many, and may reap minor benefits from some their light advertising.
On a business standpoint, Twitter advertising can greatly benefit the promotion of a brand or person. You have the option to pay for promoted tweets and promoted accounts, in which you pay for each follower who follows you while your account is “promoted,” and promoted trends. You can also target your audience by location. In my opinion this would not be the best way to advertise for many reasons. It is not cost-efficient because you are paying for the promotion, instead of gaining followers the old-fashioned way: tweeting interesting tweets and retweeting. Facebook would be a better place to advertise because you can target your audience by interest, age, etc. I feel like it would be easier to ignore ads on twitter than it is on facebook. It’s a cool idea but not the most cost effective.

I think Twitter advertisements can really benefit companies. Companies can tweet at, retweet and interact with consumers to generate buzz or relations with thousands of people. Over the past seven years its been said out of social media, twitter has grown the most in users. I joined Twitter about a year ago, and I follow some of my favorite athletes, brands, or companies and know dozens of other people who do the same. These companies can easily advertise through tweets offering promotions or through other hashtags.

I believe that this is an awesome way for people to advertise through twitter. I know that facebook already has an advertising function and this is a great way for Twitter to help promote their users businesses; Along with the future potential for them to profit off of it (with using a pay-per-click, or other cost structure). I really like the potential for small businesses to be able to get their promotional messages easier to their followers. However, my only concern is if this gets way out of hand and that the businesses I love and follow drown out my news feed.
I've learnt some benefits of twitter. For example, organization can use twitter to interact with its existing clients or potential clients directly, to inform its target clients the latest information about brands, activities or promotions, and to collect feedback from customers.
But before, I was wondering why people want to follow a brand's twitter. Now, I am realizing that because people can benefit from the information which posted on the twitter account of the brand. I followed some fashion brand such as chanel, gucci and CK. I found that I can get a lot of useful information from the posts on their twitter. For instance, CK has published some promotion information through is twitter. I am be able to know their latest promotion activites by folloing their twitter account, which gives me a lof of benefits.
What's more, organization can build its brand image in people's mind day by day. Building good relations with customers through twitter is slowly, but strongly.
For someone who is quite familiar with Twitter, I am just recently discovering the inner workings of Twitter advertising. I do know that like Twitter, Facebook uses advertising on a "click" basis or the number of views. On Twitter, there is an option to "promote" the tweet you've posted. This promotion option helps not only business, but also people promote themselves through this social media outlet. Another option of advertising is by using "hashtags", which helps track which words are trending the most.
I have had a Twitter account for a few years, however, I am not very familiar with Twitter as a social media platform. I am aware that Twitter is a great way to get leads to opportunties for growth. I am also aware that a huge majority of people and companies are now using this as a form of advertising. I am not to aware of how Twitter advertising works, but I see great opportunity with what Twitter could potentially do for some companies, campaigns, or just people in general. This post and video helped me broaden my views on Twitter Adveritising and I hope to get hands on experience in the near future.
Similiar to others who have commented, I am relatively new at Twitter adverstising (and Twitter for that matter believe it or not) so understanding the total breadth of opportunites that lie with Twitter will be a continuous education for me. I personally have been discouraged from social media for advertising purposes before so I wonder as my use of Twitter continues, if I will feel the same resentment that I have felt before with advertisers and companies that continually bombard us with untailored, heavily marketed, messages. I personally beileve that I would be more likely to interact and explore an advertisement for a local company and/or organization that didn't participate in mass marketing and advertising blasts on my social media. In addition, I belive the source and the "leads" from the company or organization will be another factor to whether I do more research on the product, service, etc.
As of yet, I am not all too familiar with the technicalities of Twitter Advertising. As I researched on Google to try to get a clearer understanding of the concept, I'd noticed that most individual users don't seem to be all too happy or familiar with the concept. I did notice, however, that many companies and other related individuals were much more adadment about the concept and its use.
Within my research, I came across this website: http://au.businessinsider.com/the-twitter-advertising-system-2013-5
This link proved very helpful in my trying to get a grasp on the specifics of the concept of Twitter Advertising. It provides a very detailed breakdown of the several aspects of Twitter Advertising in a way that is easy to understand, in my opinion.
I was in a media planning class last semester and for our end of the year project we looked into Twitter advertising quite extensively. Twitter, similarly to Facebook advertising is based on pay per click and can also be highly specificed to the target audience that you want. However, when calculating our CPMs for all our different channels of media, Twitter was by far the highest. I found this quite odd and expected to CPM for Twitter to be low because of all the people that tweet on a daily basis. I like how Twitter has more than one way to advertise as well, which I think makes it more versitile. I don't think Twitter adveritising is the most effective form of social media advertising. In my opinion, Facebook is more cost effective than Twitter because it reaches more people and there are more people on deeper for longer amounts of time. People go on Twitter, tweet and leave or just send a tweet to their phone without even going on the actual Twitter website. With Facebook, people go on and check messages, notifications, games, etc. and more time is spent giving the ads run on the them better odds of getting a click.
I think that Twitter is an excellent and innovating way to advertise. With the amount of people using twitter and other social media, it is a quick and effective way to get a message or ad out to the public. Though many people think that the 140 word limit as a negative aspec of marketing and advertising I think that people would rather read a concise to the point type ad over a long wordy ad. Looking at the twitter official advertising page the pricing intrested me. I learned that when buying an advertisement you are only charged if the tweet recieves either a retweet or reply. This would be very intriguing for me if I was looking to advertise through twitter. Overall I think that companies that learn to use social media especially twitter to their advantage will really have the upper hand through all aspects of advertising just not through social media.

I think that advertising on Twitter is a great idea, if it is used correctly. It allows two-way communication between a company/brand and consumers. I have seen many brands/companies respond to consumers on Twitter, and that helps make a brand/company feel more authentic, more human. This is definitely a positive attribute because
You can also promote tweets on Twitter, so that your tweet can appear in everyone's Twitter feed. Then, everyone will be able to see your tweet and engage with it, whether they follow you or not. In addition to promoting tweets, one can also promote topics on Twitter. This allows your topic to go to the top of the trending topics list on Twitter, so when people are looking for something that's trending to talk about on Twitter, they can see your topic and talk about it.
However, there is a downside. You can promote a tweet or topic all you want, but are people REALLY talking about your brand or your topic? Most of the time if people see something they are not interested in on Twitter, they just skip right through it. In addition, promoting tweets and topics also cost money, so a company will have to ask itself if it is really worth it to promote tweets and topics on Twitter. Also, even though Twitter allows for authentic two-way communication, will someone actually care enough to be moved by a tweet that a company sent to someone they probably don't know? Am I more likely to engage with a brand because someone who lives on the other side of the world got a tweet from a company? All of these questions will require an analysis to determine if it is really worth it for a company to advertise on Twitter.
As we all know, social media has become a flourishing trend, growing quickly in the last few years. While Facebook hasn’t become outdated, social media junkies have already moved on to other social media outputs like Twitter, Instagram, Linked in, etc. When it comes to advertising on these sites, advertisements should be unique in catching the consumer’s attention. I like the idea of Twitter advertising because no matter what is being advertised it will always be short and to the point, in keeping theme with the limited character standard. Companies who advertise with Twitter are forced to become creative in portraying their message with the limited character standard because it can easily blend in with the consumer’s Twitter feed. Having the handy hashtag will also allow advertisements to stand out by connecting with whatever is trending at the time.
Companies who have a Twitter account allow the opportunity to have the consumer’s to be more active in connecting with them. Having an account on Twitter allows me to follow some of my favorite companies and brands. By doing so, I am able to stay updated with any current information or promotions the company or brand may be advertising. This medium can also be used as a resource for current events.

In this day and age it makes perfect sense for company’s to use social media sites such as Twitter to advertise on. People want to stay more connected these days, and they go to social media sites such as Twitter to do so. Being an avid Twitter user, I can honestly say that Twitter Advertising has affected me. Whenever I log onto Twitter there is usually a "promoted" tweet from a company that I may not have been interested in, but since I saw the tweet I would be more likely to look into whatever they were promoting.
I read an interesting article that explained how businesses can choose not just a location to target, but also a target audience based on peoples interest. Company’s can now also set a daily advertising budget so they can choose how aggressively they want to advertise. With all these capabilities that allow you to precisely target an audience, I don’t know why a company wouldn't choose to use this advertising method.
Another article talked about something you mentioned in your post, which talked about lead generation on twitter. Twitter is in the process of, or if not has already implements a Leads Generation Tool that allows companies to securely get users contact information, making it easier to send users coupons and other exclusive deals.
All in all, I think advertising on twitter is a smart choice for most companies. It allows easier communication with users and allows companies to respond quickly to them. Its crazy to see how technology has changed, and continues to change everyday!
Sorry my text is so big, I copied and pasted it into word to spell check and then copied and pasted it back into my blog post.
Twitter is an excellent medium to advertise one's business, I feel. The inherent nature of twitter is to allow people to be social while providing them with a great and easily navigable news source. Twitter assimilates two very keys parts of people's lives - their need for information, and their need for interaction. People have twitter accounts to communicate with others, whether they be friends, family or coworkers, and also to stay informed on current events. Following news outlets like The New York Times or CNN allows you to easily access information and breaking news, and also relay it to others almost instantly. I feel as though advertising via twitter is a fantastic way to direct traffic to a business because people are already looking for the information that would be sent out. I also feel that there are many ways to take advantage of that. The business itself can create a twitter and hope to get followers and then advertise whatever it may be offering. Or, it can pay to be sponsored through an already widely recognized twitter account. The State News at Michigan State has a twitter account through which they are constantly tweeting updates of stories, breaking news or other related articles. From their previously established credibility in East Lansing and surrounding areas, they have garnered some 12,000 followers. For local business owners this is a number only dreamed of, an opportunity The State News has capitalized on: selling sponsored tweets to local businesses. A business can pay to relay their information to the public through an already established source, and hope to also garner followers and customers.
I would actually find this new method of Twitter advertising to be uesful at times. Because the twitter search engine is already extremely effective in allowing people to search any keyword or phrase, this would allow similar success while looking for products. You would instantly be able to find what you are looking for. If Twitter were to provide more advertising like this, it could be equally as effective as other methods of advertising. With Twitter's goal of providing instant information in small doses this would provide a great platform for brands to communicate their product to their customer within the character limit. The only problem that I could see this creating is that ads could potentially clutter the newsfeed which is built the way it is so we get the info that we want and that only, but if that is controlled, this could be a great advertising resource.
I think advertising on Twitter is brilliant. It's great not only because it is clear and concise, but also because it allows brands to showcase their personalities and get creative. However, I think that now that anyone can pay to have their messages "sponsored" or show up on people's feeds, it takes away the organic quality that twitter originally had.
When advertising was just word of mouth or hashtags or someone doing PR for the company, they were responsible for creating something that was more shareable, what they though people would like. Now, though, anyone can advertise on twitter, even me! I think that that's fine money wise (it's a great business gimic), but it takes away from actually spreading original content.

I believe that Twitter advertising is very clever idea. Also, it is the concept that every firms should think about it. Nobody can deny that social media networks are ubiquitous like Twitter. It is the web page which notifies the users breaking news, politics, economy, sports and so on. I read an article from Mashable, where they show fresh and unique advertisement clips to people who are interested in advertising. Same as Twitter, it is very beneficial to variety of companies to have Twitter advertising. So, they should all take full advantage of this chance. There is also an option of "promoting" a tweet for your company, in which your companies tweet will pop up on the feed of millions of users. I find Twitter advertising to be a great option for anybody wanting to advertise. We should see the result for it.
Twitter advertising can be very effective because it can find you without you intentionally searching for it. With the increasing role of promoted tweets, your news feed can consist of ads that may both be a good and bad fit for its target. You can also aim at your target market more efficiently on twitter by sorting them by similar interests. Retweeting in general allows an ad to be seen by people who may not even be interested in the product/person/business but simply follows a person that is making them aware of the advertisement. Even the addition of hash tags to tweets allows you to be targeted by fellow tweeters just because of a common word was hash tagged. These two resources below contain some valuable but interesting information regarding Twitter advertising.

Having not been on Twitter for very long, it was almost overwhelming to see the number of posts that occur, and how quickly. Even following only 200+ profiles, there is a seemingly infinite amount of information being shown to you. Advertising on Twitter seems only natural given the style of the medium. Promoted Tweets and Lead Generation Cards are not only much more visually stimulating than the regular and usually text-only tweets sent by companies, but also allow consistent promotion with anyone who spends the time to click a single button. Unlike the promoted posts on Facebook, Twitter gives a direct lead generation and promotion system with the least effort possible. It goes beyond simply following a business on Twitter. It allows for direct advertising and a consistent flow of promotions and ads to person on Twitter who will not simply ignore the advertisement, due to the fact that they actively agreed to receive promotions from their selected businesses. After the initial promoted lead generation card, There is what is essentially a loss free style of advertising. It allows for the tweets to be sent only to those who agreed to them and would like to receive them, and allows for the company to save effort promoting advertisements to those who do not want their business. General advertisements online via cookies and other means already allow for personalized banner ads and pop ups, but promoted lead generation cards allow for and support direct interaction between the consumer and the business. It seems to not only streamline advertising, but also to make it more personalized and more enjoyable to the consumer. If consumers only see ads that they enjoy and to which they agree to see, then consumer attention spans and engagement levels should most likely increase greatly.
Twitter has certainly started to become one of the most powerful potential tools for businesses to use. If a company wants to succeed then it seems obvious that they should be on Twitter; promoting and advertising for their company and maybe even using it as a form of distribution for coupons. I feel that with Twitter the possibilities as to what companies can do is still increasing. Hashtags allow tweets to be archived and this can help in more ways than one.
Twitter also allows businesses to reach out to their communities and become more involved with the people that are actually using their product or service. It is a free source of advertising as well as a great source for receiving feedback from the community that you might have to otherwise pay for from a test group. I feel that if a business is not yet on Twitter and wants to succeed, they need to get started.
I haven't been on Twitter very long, but since I've signed up I find it quite useful for connecting and marketing yourself and/or business. I haven't experienced Twitter advertising myself, but the articles on it make it seem like a really great thing for any business to use to get their word out. Because Twitter is free, and is open to all businesses in the US, it becomes an expansive and powerful form of advertising.
New forms of social media are lending themselves more useful than any advertising system has been in history. The internet and television were breakthrough's when they came out, but now it's social media's age. Mobile devices are extremely powerful and everyone uses them. "Social networks like Facebook and Twitter are daily destinations for millions of consumers. Increasingly, their ad products offer targeting according to specific demographics, social connections, interests, and habits." (SFGate)
With social media becoming more popular by the day, it's definitely a smart move to use the sites for advertising purposes.
I personally find Twitter advertising to be very smart, and it is something that all businesses should really consider. All social media networks are growing everyday and Twitte is gaining more and more users everyday. It is one site that many users turn to when looking for news updates, sports updates, and many other things. I just read an article on their idea called Twitter Amplify, where they insert short advertisement clips before a video that a person is trying to watch, which is also very useful for many companies. The amount of traffic that Twitter generates is very beneficial to companies, and they should all take full advantage of this opportunity. There is also an option of "promoting" a tweet for your company, in which your companies tweet will pop up on the feed of millions of users. I find Twitter advertising to be a great option for anybody wanting to advertise.
I agree that Twitter advertising is a great tool. I feel that any thing can and should be used for advertising purposes. I agree that the traffic on twitter and the way hashtags are used can be very beneficial to companies and they definitely should take advantage of that. Promotion of tweets is also another good option in order to advertise and promote a brand.
Twitter advertising has truly changed the sphere of advertising as a whole. You can literally look at hundreds of companies advertisements by just typing a hashtag into the search bar. And since the character limit on twitter is at 140, you can quickly read over them at concentrate on the ones that appeal to you. With every major company on twitter currently, checking their ads and what is going on in the company can be achieved in less than 30 seconds on twitter. Sometimes even "promoted" tweets appear on timeline, which show you ads from companies that have paid to be on your timeline without you even having to search for them. This is genius because regardless if you're searching for that company, it is now in your thought process.
Compared to traditional advertising, twitter advertising is much more efficient and easier to get hold of. I would not be surprised if in the next ten years that all companies have advertising on twitter.
Since society today is so media driven, twitter advertising is a perfect way to reach consumers. Many people constantly tweet about things they see on tv, so twitter is a good way for companys to reach consumers in a more personal way. Consumers can ask questions, and watch as their favorite brand comes alive with a personality, when their questions actually get a response. It can also be used to get promotions out more quickly and less expensively than a tv advertisement. People can retweet these messages so their friends and family may also get informed. Twitter advertising is also seen as less annoying than other unwanted advertisements because the consumer has chosen to "follow" that brand. Therefore, they are already interested and want to know more.
Twitter advertising is expanding its reach. Twitter will watch out for tweets people are sending out about certain tv shows or ads and allow those advertisers to target you. It's similar to how facebook can see what websites you visit while you're still logged on and after you log off, and have similar advertisements pop up on the side of your news feed. This is an ingenius way to make sure certain ads or products stick in the brain. I have only experienced the consumer side of twitter advertising, but I believe it is an effective way to extend company's consumer base.
http://www.advertising.twitter.com
http://www.nbcnews.com/technology/tv-related-tweets-may-attract-ads/
I think advertising on Twitter is a great option for many companies. The whole point of twitter is to get a small, simple idea out in the open for the public to hear. The great thing about it, is it can just be a few words long. These small 140 character limit notes are a great reminder to the public about certain ideas. Also, with twitter you have the audience you are targeting already following your page. On twitter, you can search through different companies, topics, ideas and motives to find the right pages for the individual to follow. This is better than Television commercials, for example, because many people will flip through the commercials when a topic they don’t follow comes on, but on twitter you can have a large following of people who are actually interested in the brand or company and they are much more likely to take the advertisement and utilize it.
I think advertising on Twitter is a great idea for clients to consider using. Twitter is growing rapidly with each passing day, so you know you would be advertising with a successful handle. I look at Twitter numerous times throughout the day, so if there were advertisments shown on Twitter, I know I would come across at least a few being promoted. Twitter is also good for a business just starting out, because you can get in direct contact with your consumers. You can get their opinions, beliefs, and activities they do on a daily basis just by looking at their Twitter. It makes it easier to search for your target market, by simply using a hashtag or the search bar. Getting direct feedback from your consumers will help you lead your company in the right direction for you to grow into a successful, thriving company. I feel twitter is the best way to get in contact with consumers because it is direct and live. If you can make a Twitter for your company, I definitely think it is the right thing to do, you have nothing to lose.

In my opinion I think that Twitter is a great way for companies to advertise their products and spread the word to a vast amount of people. Lets face it, the world around us is changing everyday and just about everything is becoming digital. With Twitter getting so much traffic and continues to grow everyday I think that it would be unwise for a company not to utilize this form of advertising. I personally use twitter on a daily basis and always notice the "Promoted" tweets that come right to the top. Even if you have no interest in what ever the "Promoted" tweet is, it's still the first thing you're going to see. Also, when advertising through Twitter companies can decide which categories or "hash tags" they want their ads to show up in.
Twitter advertising, in my opinion, may be the best platform for marketing and advertising. On twitter, you are able to connect with people with interests that are very similar to yours. You get the consumer's and user's direct thoughts and opinions on everything around them, and and everything from what they are using, eating, wearing and going. With a simple hashtag or search of a word, you can get tons of feedback on a variety of things. This feeback, whether positive or negative, can definitely help a brand determine what they need to be focusing on. I think for companies, this is the most direct contact you have with a person. Unlike many other social networks, twitter is live and the user is engaged right then and there. If you are able to utilize twitter, even with having to make your pitch the most effective in 140 characters or less, you can become a very popular brand amongst users and conusmers around the world.
With Twitter, you can easily locate people who have similar interests, which can help you target potential customers. The very basic advantage of the social network compared to the other modes to promote a business, is that it has a global market. Businessmen situated from one area can promote their company products worldwide. This only proves that social media platforms are an efficient marketing tool especially for marketing personnel who have hectic working schedules. Also, the fact that every update input on a twitter account is limited to only 140 words signifies concise thoughts, short comments, and catchy advertising. There are clients who are not inclined into reading long ads thus, the shorter the ad the better.

Measuring the Effectiveness of Twitter Advertising
According to Twitter Advertising, currently they provide two ways of Twitter advertising -- "promoted accounts" and "promoted tweets". In my opinion, for those start-up local bussiness, "promoted tweets" might be an effective way to gain publicity and followers in a short period of time. When companies tweet, Twitter advertising automatically searches for those people who may be interested in the tweets, and shows the companies' existing tweet on their timeline. It's smart that companies don't have to create new tweets just for advertising purpose. It makes the promoted tweets look natural to customers, and it also save comanies' time. In addition, I think that "promoted accounts" is suitable for small bussiness who wants to attract more people outside from their existing social clusters. It's a good way to get in touch with people who have the same interests as the companies' existing followers.
Advertising on Twitter is no doubt a wonderful idea. I have observed this during one of my courses in Spring semester as how the airlines like jetBlue, Delta and KLM use twitter for their advertising purposes. One thing is however important to run a successful advertising campaign that the days and time must be tracked to assess the maximum presence of the public on twitter and ofcourse other essentials of advertising also need to be taken into consideartion, for an instance, the message to be posted in the language that is being understood by a large segment of audience as KLM manages twitter accounts in languages other than English as well.
Though I am a big advocate for Social Media Marketing, I think there are a lot of pros and cons to Twitter marketing that should be given some serious thought before putting any money into it. The idea of being able to track posts and conversations is a great tool, but one that can be utilized quite effectively without a cash investment. I think that the free publicity a Twitter account can offer to a person or company already being searched is wonderful. However, I personally wouldn't advise small businesses to invest in paid ads unless that is the area in which they get the greatest traffic from their clients. I say this because of the huge cost that can amount to if not properly used and carefully monitored, especially if their funds could be better spent elsewhere. (Such as SEO, website development or other social media outlets)
Twitter advertising is an extremely effective way to get an overall concept across to consumers. It gives the consumer a chance to decide on whether or not they are interested before bombarding them with advertisements. A guest speaker once told one of my classes, "'Don't bother going into the advertising business unless you can get your point across in 140 characters or less." This statement is extremely true in this day and age because there is so much technology surrounding us that it is much more difficult to grab a consumer's attention. I think that as long as the company or brand is able to utilize twitter to grab the attention of tweeters, that it will be an extremely successful advertising medium.
Twitter advertising is great thing for businesses and consumers. Twitter is a very simple social media, because of the limit of characters in a tweet it makes things easy to read and scroll through. This also makes advertisments seem not so intrusive. People can read advertisments easy and chose if they want to learn more and click on the link that is genrally attached which could be a video, picture or link to the website. Also it was cool that twitter made a function called "promote" where businesses can make a small advertisement and it will pop up in people's feed and at the bottom is says promote so they know it is about a product or service promotion. I think things like this are what set twitter apart from different social media sites such as facebook. The way that facebook is set up makes it way more intrusive to consumers which creates a negative association for them.
I think Twitter advertising is a great idea. People are constantly updating their "tweets" and are constantly scrolling through what people are posting. Social media is becoming the main source for getting products, ideas, and information out to society. I actually found a cool article that gives you step-by-step instructions on how to set up your own Twitter Ad. I just finished my first week interning at a marketing firm and we do Adwords. It's interesting to see that this is now spreading to Twitter. From the looks on this article, and the little knowlege I have learned so far, the process of making a Twitter Ad seems similar to those of a Google Ad. I'm curious to see if the marketing firm I work for can see this in their future. Very cool!
I agree with Twitter advertising to give people opportunities to build content and it is a great way for business to improve their brand and have place to do their advertising. This is a good place to find the helpful article, you can search and follow this author, when he/she upload the new article, you will find them as soon as possible. Similar to twitter account holders following celebrities, schools, sports teams, etc., following businesses is very similar.
