I uploaded one video on YouTube for a class and it was only a minute long. It was about a typical day as a college student but when I looked the video up I was way at the bottom of the search results. My professor watched it as well as a few classmates so I only had about 10 views. I think something that makes videos stand out is when they are funny or entertaining. I usually don't hear about a good YouTube video until I see that someone shared it on Facebook or its being talked about on tv. I like to watch Ellen, and she finds quite a few very talented people from their YouTube videos. I think I would like to post more videos on YouTube and I think a great way to get more views would be to share my links and videos on Facebook and Twitter. I like the idea of being able to interact with subscribers on YouTube and I would like to hear their imput about my videos. I've kind of always believed that YouTube can be a great way to promote and market really anything in the world as long as it's done in a way the audience will enjoy and understand.
I am thinking about what drive people watch a video, the first one is an acttraction title, people will get more interesting in a title that unique, strange and creative. Because curious drives people to discover more. The second reason is a direct and clear to point titile, sometimes people need some videos for research needs, a clear topic title would be the best choice for thoes people who want to fill their scholar needs. Even though I do not upload one video before, I still care about how people can get so many subscriber. It needs a lot of effort to it.
I notice videos that have weird or interesting titles. Another thing that makes me click on a video is the picture it shows on the news feed. People sharing videos helps videos get a higher view count. I have never personally uploaded a video, but I helped my friend get more views on a video he posted on youtube. He posted a music video for his song and had all his friends tweet or share it on facebook. We also posted it on some music sites for amateur artists, and they posted it on their twitters. Eventually the video got over 80,000 views.
I have been thinking of making a YouTube channel for the longest time, and everytime I make a video, I always end up deleting it. Reading this article helped me gain a little more knowledge on how to actually start a channel of my own, and actually try to build it up as well. The concept of collaborating and using YouTube as a networking tool is fascinating to me.
I think having subscribers obviously makes your videos stand out as well as something that is not very commonly seen on the internet. I myself have never uploaded a video, but I have been in videos that got uploaded onto YouTube. My friend that posted our videos got the word out to our high school about his YouTube account and got a decent amount of subscribers.
Well nromally I would have to say that you are right in the fact that i most likley watched a few youtube videos today, I havnt however though. I have in the past uploaded a youtube video and mainly got view by word of mouth to friends, and friends telling other friends. Now when I watch videos on youtube usually next time I go on, there are suggested videos for me to watch. My best guess is that there are tags associented to every youtube video and related tags are what make certain videos pop up on your screen. In terms of videos I have uploaded I have never attempted any other methods to get views. Most of my video posts are for recreational purposes.
I think that using humor or something insanely impressive is the most effective way to get video views. But it is also important to post it to different areas on the web and tag it. This way people are more likely to see it. I have uploaded videos to YouTube, however not many people have ever watched them. I did not try to get people to watch them. So that could have been the reason it did not get many views.
I have never uploaded a video onto youtube before, but have always been curious as to how people get videos to be so popular. I feel that videos that are funny are the most likely to stick out on youtube, and therefore achieve the most views. I never looked at it as actual work to get people to watch a video, but it makes since and I feel like I understand the process a lot better now.
I think that to stand out on YouTube you need to be unique and interesting. Your video needs to be worthy of talking about at the watercooler the next day at work. The videos I watch are usually humor based or involve animals. I also watch videos from people who are already YouTube famous or that have a prominent YouTube channel. People who post videos every week are usually something I look forward to viewing. I have never attempted to upload a video to YouTube but I know that I would have to promote myself in a way that people will remember.
The videos with the most views are things that are popular and everyone wants to watch. There are YouTube celebrities that get thousands to billions of views on their videos, but they had to work their way up to get there. I think by putting video responses to others' popular videos that are getting many views is a good way to get that person to watch your videos and help you as well as getting regular YouTube users there. You also need good hashtags, a catchy title, and the picture on the video needs to be eye catching. If you want people to click your video they must have a reason to want to do so. Therefore you must capture their interest somehow based on what your video is about. The videos that stand out are the ones that look the most interesting. I personally have never uploaded a video to YouTube.
The fact that viewers watch 6 billion hours of video each month makes me think people might need more hobbies, other than watching cat videos. I have made personal videos for various classes that I have uploaded onto YouTube so I could play it anywhere, but I likely will not have my own YouTube channel anytime soon. I would say I watch much less content than most of my peers, most things I watch are links shared from social media-but only from my friends that I know have a good sense of humor. If I click on a video and its loading and I see it barely has any views, I won't wait for it to load I’ll just close the window. So in most cases views = worth my time. My good friend who Dan Henig is a musician has over 4 million hits on his popular cover of “Get Low”, it went viral after being shared all over Facebook and various websites such as TFM and Chive. Once it was shared on a popular website, the success snowballed. The title served as a hook, “Dan performs get low in an unsuspecting coffee shop” which right away captures a users attention and creates curiosity. For me the title is one of the most important aspects of whether or not I will even click on it. If you want a good laugh (PG 13) check out Dan’s video!
The thing that stands out the most to me on YouTube is content. Content is king and that what gets me and keeps me on the site. I've uploaded five or six videos to YouTube and they have experienced a strong amount of views. The videos I've uploaded were all music videos so I'm not suprised by how many views there has been because it is an exciting piece of content compared to the normal video. The way I got the videos a lot of views was by promoting them to blogs and other publications. I sent out a lot of emails and received a good amount of response. I've definitely had a good experience with YouTube but I still need that signature video to go viral.
Videos that stand out on YouTube are the ones of humor, action, or something serious that has happen and all of these have a ton of views. Everyday on my Facebook people post links to videos they find intresting and this happens numerous times a day. Depending on who posted it, I usually check them out. I have uploaded videos of boxing matches I have competed or videos that I have had to make for class. The videos for class got minimal views however, my boxing videos have 200-500 views but most views are from other competitors or friends who want to see. In order to get more views for my fights I usually post them on Facebook because at that time it was the only social media I had.
Its crazy to see what can go viral on youtube and other websites. You show a video to a few friends then they show it to few friends then all of the sudden you have 100,000 views. I have several friends that have videos with over 300,00 views and at most 600,000. I can even say I was there during a video that was filmed and then featured on Tosh.O called "Stair Bobsledding" if you have ever seen it. I bet you can imagine what my friend does in the video, he bobsleds head first down a flight of stairs and ends up flipping down it and some how grabbing a mop at the bottom of the stairs... and people loved it. It was reasonable funny but never thought it would go viral. Youtube is a great outlet for people trying to be heard, from Justin Beiber to Matt Cordle ( the guy who confessed to driving drunk and killing a man and revealed it to everyone on youtube)
YouTube has definitely become more than just a place to upload home videos. It has made many people famous and become successful, including Justin Bieber. Personally, I have never uploaded a video on YouTube. However, to make your video stand out on YouTube, I believe it is very important to create a video that is somewhat culturally relevant. This means by creating a video that is related to items that are in the news, such as pop culture, you may get more people to talk about it and look it up online. So, I guess it is important to stick to topics that are popular. Also, I think making a humorous video, e.g. in form of a pariodical response to someone else's video, could be a great way to caught the people's attention. In addition, collaborating with already famous YouTubers is a good way to get more recognition and become more famous.
However, if you have a real talent, such as singing or dancing, upload it on YouTube and I believe that you will receive recognition by others. But be sure to upload a video of good quality in order for others to be able to recognize your talent for which you want to get attention.
Nowadays, internet has huge influences in the society. Place like YouTube, the biggest video host, is definitely changing the way we live, interact, communicate, and bring the world together. In March of 2012, YouTube said they have about 120 billion videos, and there are around 200000 videos updated by people every day, do the math, there are a lot out there for now. I’ve made a YouTube video using imovie for a course project. And since it’s an assignment, I kind of want to keep it private, so there was not a lot views around 150, and most of them are from my class. Me personally prefer taking picture than making videos, and I have this big concern of internet privacy thing, so I’ve never thought about go wild with the stuff I made. But as an advertising person, I guess I have to learn about it, cause it’s similar to commercials, but just advertising the selfs, the ideas, thoughs, creativity. I remember I watched a Tedtalk about analyzing the famous YouTube video, like those we all watched: Friday by Rebecca Black, Baby by Justin Bieber, the double rainbow guy, and my favorite nyan cat! Most of them went crazy not by chance, but combined certain strategies. When I picture a popular video, I think it has to be unique, well at least special. It could be either funny, interesting, new, creative, or crazy, wild, weird, awkward. There are many advice to make videos popular, however it doesn’t mean that your video will be popular if you do all of them. Launching videos with positive attitude is important too. Learning from the past, and keep increasing, connecting with other people could increase the views of the video, responding comments making connection with the audience is critical too. There are many strategies or rules or advice, but it is very hard to follow all of them, I believe the most important part is the content, cause that is point making videos stand out.
YouTube has started to become more than just a place to post home videos. It has brought fame to a variety of people including Jenna Marbles and Tyler Oakley, two of the top YouTube elite. I personally think that in order for a video to stand out on YouTube it has to be humorous. Of all the videos that I watch on YouTube and all of the video's that end up going viral usually have some hilarious aspect that makes people want to watch over and over. I used to post YouTube videos when I was just starting high school but the most views I ever garnished was 2500. I never tried anything to get more views, the only promotion was through word-of-mouth. If I ever were to make YouTube videos again I would use different social media sites such as FaceBook and Twitter to promote my videos.
It is interesting that I am now seeing this topic. I just sent in a resource similiar to this. I have uploaded several online videos. Something I learned that can gain alot of views is the title! The title of videos can cause a viewer to stop in their tracks or ignore it. Titling videos with a very controversial topics was a way I would get people to watch my videos about Chrisitianity. It was a video blog that I use to do. With the titles I know alone I know it attracted atleast 25% of my audience. They are on youtube now. I shared the videos on Facebook and other social media sites to gain traffic with friends and even non-friends.
In today’s day and age youtube has helped discover some of the worlds biggest stars. With so many youtube videos being uploaded everyday it is hard to get people to notice your video. A good to promote your videos is to invite people to subscribe to your channel. This will help the people that liked your videos to keep coming back to view your other videos. You have to respon to comments and comment on other people’s videos. This will help draw attention to your videos and let people get to know the maker of the videos. Youtube is an awesome idea with great benefits but if you abuse it than it can lead to trouble. You have to beware of copywriting as well because not only will that get you kicked off youtube but it will get you in legal trouble as well.
I think there is no exact formula in making a viral video on Youtube. Also, there are many different types of Youtube users; from the I-only-look-at viral videos to the commited subscribers. I can attest that Youtube is sometimes my drug of choice, and I watch clips after clips of my favorite shows to turning it on in the background like white noise. So what I have noiticed about videos that seem to do really well on Youtube come from two different types of sources. There is the one time wonder videos that are so unique and out there that they gain thousands to millions of views in hours. Such as Psy's Gangnam style and overly obsessed girlfriend. Then there are popular channels such as Michelle Phan and The Young Turks that, without fail, always get thousands of views no matter what they post.
I think if your video has content that is unique and has content that has never been out on the internet, there is a good chance you could recieve lots of views and potential new subscribers.
I actually have my own Youtube account however I do not post my own videos. I follow a beauty guru's Youtube account- her name is Megan and her Youtube name is Ciaoobelllaxo. I love all of her videos and really trust all of her reviews and videos that she makes. I read some aticles about her that have been written about her journey through Youtube. She is only 20 years old and started getting over 50,000 hits in a couple days with over 1 million subscribers. Youtube contacted her and she was able to run ad's before her videos so that she could profit off of her Youtube videos. The money she gets from Youtube goes towards all of the products that she reviews and the tutorials she makes. Personally, for me, I think what makes her blog stand out is that it is on a subject im interested in-beauty, haircare, skin care, make up etc. and that she has meaningful and interesting content. She definitely knows what she's talking about and she posts 2 videos a week- sometimes more. Not only does she blog but she also vlogs her days. She gives you a glimpse into her everyday life and people kind of idolize her even more. Overall, I think that her Youtube channel is one of the best on Youtube and it made me get an account just so I could subscribe to her.
When I was in high school and middle school, I used things like youtube more often, and barely use it now. But when I did use it, i did upload videos! these videos were just my friends and I doing silly things, and going to concerts. I never did it to get viewers, but to share it with my friends online. I usually didn't get very many view because of this and and my ignorance to the online world in general!
Today I use youtube for listening to songs I do not wish to buy! These types of things usually have thousands of views from viewers just like me!
Personally I think that a good video is something that stands out from other videos. Seeing something new or interesting often gets peoples interest and gets more views. I have uploaded a few videos, but have only gotten a few thousand views. I did not try and get any more people to watch the video i uploaded. People who upload content all the time gain a following over time and get more hits on their videos. Social media and forum sites like reddit also help attract viewers.
I think nowadays humor makes videos stand out. I have seen so many videos go viral simply because they are really funny. Especially the new social media site Vine, people get hundreds of thousands of likes simply for posting a funny seven second video. I have posted videos on Youtube before. When I was a competitive gymnast and being recruited by colleges I would have to put recruiting videos of myself at practice and in competitions so that the colleges could see the skills I was competing and working on. I believe the most views I received on a video was around 6,000 simply from emailing my video to all different colleges and other gymnasts searching my videos as well.
I think originality makes videos stand out... at least at first. Once you have a great original idea, you'll have other videographers trying to re-make your idea. So really, what's going to make your videos popular are CONSTANT original ideas and adapting to what the viewers want, and not getting comfortable with one 'funny' or 'clever' hook or idea. Odds are, in about 5 minutes when everyone finds out you're popular, you'll basically be old news and not nearly as funny/entertaining. I've uploaded one video in my social media career of two of my dear friends drunkenly dancing and singing to "dancing queen" by abba at our summer camp. Very few people (basially the 12 other counselers and potentially my mother) saw this video. We didn't try to much to get more views since it was pretty embarrassing and we were supposed to be watching people's children. But if that weren't the case, we would have easily sent it to facebook and let our hundreds of friends, and their friends, etc, enjoy watching to jocks skip around to a 60's classic.
Most of my projects have a video focus, and are mostly uploaded over Vimeo-- but my current project has had over 700 views. I also had to create a video in which people would vote for me so I could win a road trip-- I ended up winning. I think what set my video apart was my honesty and authenticity. I find that it is essential to tie some sort of feel (whether it be humor, drama, etc.) for people to tune in. For my blog that I'm building for this class, I'll be making a video of myself as an intro and a way to pull people in to my blog. My blog is a big attempt for myself to get a crew role on the new Harry Potter spin-off-- so I'm going to do something that only a hardcore Potter fan would do.
I can admit with ease the I am a YouTube addict. Ask any of my friends. If I'm not studying or working I'm watching videos on YouTube. Yes, I'll watch the occasional viral video or music video but what I'm actually obssessed with is vloggers. I can't get enough of them. Watching they're videos always makes me wonder if I were to start vlogging would people actually watch.
This post was great because it sparked something in me again. The tips to creating video content that others would want to watch were very helpful. I think I might start out with our class blog first and see how that goes. If I get enough attention on there, maybe I'll try a video or two as well.
I really like watching videos from Youtube, some videos are very funny or useful. Sometimes, some videos can bring me some inspiration while i was doing homework. I havn't made any videos yet because i don't know how to attract people's attention. There is an important thing that I am afraid of making a video like a trash that no one will interest in it.
This blog grabbed my attention because I love watching videos online, I feel like I could sit on my computer and watch videos all day, about the most serious things or the silliest things. I feel like there are all different types of learners in the world and for me watching videos makes so much more sense then reading articles. If I can watcha video about a cetain topic I could tell you all about what happened and know all the details. I think that the visual aspect of videos is what makes them so popular, they are quick and easy to watch online. I haven't ever uploaded videos to YouTube but i enjoy watching the videos that other people take thier time to produce and upload.
I am a daily Youtube watcher. Some days I find myself (2 hours later) watching videos that I don't even know how I came across watching them. Usually videos that are funny, have a lot of views, or show up on other social media sites are what makes them stand out. Also, it has to be really worth it to me to watch a video longer than 1:00 long. I have a short attention span and if you have not intrigued me within the first 15-20 seconds, I most likely move on to another video. I have not uploaded a video to Youtube before but always have the wonder of doing so. Some days I find myself funny and a possible candidate to make a Youtube video, but for the most part I don't have the talent to be a popular Youtube "uploader". I also don't have the patience to plan out trying to make a successful video. I just leave it up to those who enjoy that part of technology and making the world laugh.
Being a filmmaker, Having a strong youtube audience is vital. Youtube is based tags, and what videos people are wanted to view more than other video. I have made several music videos for all different types of clientele, and i can guarentee that the bigger your artist your working with the more views you will have. Also, making sure that your video is professionally made is very key in getting a strong viewing audience. Once you have gained a large viewing audience, you will most likely recieve more subscribers to your channel.
A Rap video i did for a guy called "Gino the Ghost" jumped from 2,000 views to 10,000 in a week because he landed the lead role in a Linkin Park music video. Due to the debut of his video, peopl from all over the world begain searching his name on YouTube. This took everyone right to my youtube channel. Stating this, colloboration is key. Now, i have set advertisements on my video and have gained a couple bucks over the past year due to it. This is all due to tagging, titling and promoting correctly.
For most people, I believe that the videos that stand out to people are usually videos that are directly related or closely linked to the topic of their search. I think that the amount of views and popularity surrounding the videos also play a major role in whether or not people view them. If a video has a lot of views, people are more enticed to click on it and see what all the hype is about. If it doesn't have a lot of views, it's a good indicator that there is little value or interest in the video, in which case most viewers would decide to watch something else instead. Nonetheless, I find YouTube extremely entertaining and it can be a great resource for procrastinating and for time consumption. The only videos I've ever uploaded onto YouTube were for class projects. Very few people saw them and I would like to keep it that way.
Youtube has practically become part of my daily life, but I am never the one posting the videos. I dont know if I don't feel the need to share my videos or it's just the pure laziness of not wanting to plan out what it takes to make a successful video. To have a video that gets a ton of views and goes viral, you need to take the time out to plan what will be a success. The majority of videos I take are just for personal use so I can have the leisure of watching them whenever I want, to remind me of a memory, not necessarily so I can share it with the world. I do think the tips provided by Relles do need to be followed in order to have a "successful" video on youtube, and those just aren't things I'm necessarily interested in taking the time out to plan.
I'm a huge fan of youtube, whether it be for watching the newest, most popular, music videos, or some funny skit someone has posted. I wondered how Jimmy Tatro reached fame through just the one video, Frat Life, but realized through this post it is probably from all the other collaborations he did prior. He also is a huge facebook and vine user, and his posts are always so funny. That is really why I continue to follow him and I know that when people who also enjoy his posts see them they will "revine" or "repost" him on the regular. I always enjoy a good comedian, and I think youtube is a great place to start!
My friend was working on a project, and which ever video for the class that received the most views would get a 4.0 in the course. Besides the traditional share the vid on Facebook, tweet it , and send it to everyone and their mom via email, I suggested replaying the video [inserting the word "repeat" after "youtube" in the web link http://www.youtuberepeat.com/watch?v=NaO7QTPWzYg] to essentially cheat in gaining more views. From there the link would change to Youtube's option of Listen on Repeat, and rank up more hits on your video. I don't know if this is a good strategy because the views would only be coming from one source, and I had no way of knowing whether or not the views were going up from outside sources or they were generated from repeated plays.
This has always been a question on my ind. How do people get so many views in so little time on YouTube. Well this artical kind of helped me out and explained how fast the internet really works. Almost everyday I watch a video on YouTube, whether it is music, sports, or something else I think I might enjoy. Some days I watch tons of videos that interest me. I have put content on YouTube before and I did not even get close to thousands of views. But what I did to get people to notice is was spread the link on all of my Social Media cites and explained what it was so if people were interested they could check it out. I am no Beiber, but I did get a couple hundred.
The main thing I look for in videos is if they're funny or not. Of course different people find different things funny, but there are quite a few universally funny moments. For example, people tripping/running into items. Funniest Home Videos has sections every episode that show clips of people doing this. If I find a video funny, I will show my friends who could in turn show their friends, family, etc. Length also plays a factor. If it's too long, I won't watch it!
Youtube is a website where viewers can watch any type of video for free. As a website, Youtube does a great job of categorizing its videos and displaying the most popular ones on its homepage. Also, I love that after you create an account, it displays the videos of your subscribers’ on your homepage, right after you log in and further recommends videos you might want to watch. So how do videos become so popular? In my opinion, either one has to build up a solid base of fans that over time subscribe to one’s channel or one has to create an absolute ridiculous, eye-catching, attention-grabbing video that attracts a wide audience. I honestly still don’t understand how videos can go viral within a week, day, hour, or minute. Although to me, it seems that videos go viral instantaneously if the video is either really stupid, something funny happens on accident, or the video is incredibly creative. I know the three topics I listed are a wide variety, but those topics seem to be a common theme in how videos go viral. For example, the song “Friday” by Rebecca Black became most popular because of Youtube. Although it was highly criticized for being a “stupid” song with an even more ridiculous music video, the song went viral because first the video was on Youtube and second it fell under one of the three categories I just listed.
I personally have only uploaded a two videos on Youtube, one was for a class assignment and received only a couple views and the other was to display a performance by my Greek Week team that received not too many views either. I did not put up the videos to catch views, but if I wanted to I would follow the tips listed in the article provided. I think now there is a strategic plan of trying to put up a video and have it instantly go viral; it does not happen to many people, but when it does its unbelievable how many views the video reaches.
Videos usally go viral on YouTube when the subject matter deals with someone getting hurt/ something scary or startelling/ or if the video is insanely funny. With some videos all these can happen all at once. The first viral video that i have heard and seen recently was the video of a girl twerking who then proceeded to catch on fire. It went very viral and soon after it was released that the girl was actually a stunt woman and did not accidentally catch on fire. Who was behind this video? None other than Jimmy Kimmel, who loves using viral videos within his show (Jimmy Kimmel Live on ABC). He then discussed on his show how this was all a stunt. No one knew originally that the video was made by jimmy kimmel, but thats what made the video go even more viral. I thought this was hilarious and a very creative way to make a simple video go viral by using various social media sites.
I have not ever personally uploaded a video onto YouTube, but i do star in a few. Back in middle school my friend posted several videos of us during soccer games, recess, etc. They were short, and mostly only funny to my friends and I. They were not viral video material at all. The video that i am featured in that has gotten the most views on YouTube is a video my friend uploaded for a psychology project in high school. It has recieved over 2,000 views and 4 random comments. We didnt try to get any views or comments, but it is really interesting that people have viewed this video. It is also fun and easily to share with my family because i just have to search online for the video.
I've never uploaded self-made video on Youtube, but I have upload it on a Chinese video website. Because it is just a fan-made video for a TV drama so I just shared it with some of my friends and fans of that drama plays. The clicks were not so much but I learned a lot from that experience.
To get your video more clicks, I think first you should know your target audience. The audience determine where to share and how to share your video.
Second, the video should be short and brief. If you are nameless, no one wants to take 20 minutes or longer time on your video. With more stable audience and subscribes, you can make it longer.
In my opinion, all the explained techniques that are stated in the article by Jefferson Graham are valid ways to help making a YouTube video stand out.
However, I would say the crucial way to get as many viewers as possible is to provide qualitative content that is relevant to a certain target group. You can carry out all the described techniques in perfection and still won't have a large audience if the content is not attractive at all. Especially for companies that strive to market themselves effectively online, it is important to reach a great audience on a constant basis, which in the best case means operating a successful YouTube channel. So, providing qualitative and relevant content on a consistent basis is the key to a loyal audience which already help boosting the next video without even using all these additional techniques.
I have a friend who owns a small company that offers "viral full-video marketing". For him, creating qualitative content that is relevant to a certain target group is the key to the success of the videos he produces. According to him, a video that has the potential of going viral can take a lot of work out of his hands already.
So my advice after reading the article would be to focus on the content first and not to rely too heavyly on these techniques.
I found this article to be not only informative, but actually useful. I have posted several videos to YouTube, and while my intentions were never to have garnered millions of hits, it was always nice to see when my videos racked up views. In fact, while it's really nothing to boast about, my YouTube channel has a combined 1,248 views. In my experience of both posting and watching Youtube videos online, I've decided that the videos that stand out the most always have certain qualities. For example; hilarious, shocking, informative, controversial, and cultural influence. I believe videos that have any of these qualities stand out more than all the rest, simply because they grab ahold of, and continue to hold our collective attention. Videos I have posted usually contain one or more of these elements, however, they do not have enough to be wildly popular. Due to the fact that most of my videos are uploaded for purposes other than getting views, I have never tried to do anything to get MORE views. I suppose the most I did was post them to facebook and encourage my friends to watch. All in all, should you wish to create and post a youtube video in an effort to obtain multiple views, I highly encourage you to follow the "Playbook" provided by Ben Relles, as well as to include the qualities that I personally felt made for great videos on Youtube. Feel free to visit my channel and watch some of the videos I have posted.
I see a lot of people also doing product review sponsored by the companies that makes the product. I think thats an interesting change in how a companies are connecting to the consumers. Some of those reviews are also helpful to the user. I mostly look at mobile, gadgets and network gear but a lot of the sites have the disclaimer that they are being sponsored by the company, but the review includes a pros and coms of the product that they are reviewing it. I think nowadays to be a successful businesses you need to connect to the user and figure out how to get feedback from your users and incorporate those changes into your products. We are moving to a more customizable experience with many of the new products and youtube is a great place for people to voice their opinions.
I honestly never go on youtube unless it is for music videos. So for me, i know that YouTube is how some people become famous and such thing but if your someone like me you just do not have interest in spending hours on the site. Although, i do know that some people do watch YouTube a lot and some also rely on YouTube to make it big. To me one thing that makes a video stand out is humor and sounds. By that if something is funny to me i will show everyone and if someone does an awesome cover i will show everyone and look for more videos from them. I have never uploaded a video but i do know many people who have and it is difficult to get people to watch it. I would suggest putting it on Facebook. Being the biggest social media site people are bound to see it and also share or post it again.
From my experience with watching most viral videos on facebook, something out of the ordinary usually needs to happen in the video for it to draw the intention that it gets. Don't get me wrong I have seen my fair share of videos with a lot of views and was like "How in the hell can they get that many views for just doing something mundane. Me and my friends used to make a lot of stupid homemade videos when we were kids, around the age of 13. It sad to say that a lot of the videos we had have got deleted. I would love to try to make a viral video on facebook someday, just because of the many available resources you mentioned (movie maker, imovie, etc).
I have never uploaded my own Youtube video, but I usually watch videos that are funny, original, cute or informative. Funny videos are just that - funny! They make me laugh and I watch them to be entertained. The same goes for original videos. If someone is doing something I've never seen done before, then boom, I'm interested. I watch "cute" videos when someone sends me an adorable video of a laughing baby or a puppy trying to climb a flight of stairs. Informative videos tell me something I didn't know before...everything from makeup tutorials to talks on toxins or science topics...Youtube is a great way to be informed.
I think having something that is current in trend allows videos to stand out on youtube. For example college asge women are into make-up and hair tutorials on youtube so that what a lot of us watch. We like tutorials that are high quality, short and most detailed. If your video does all of those things you qualify as a winner when it comes to tutorials. It's also a trend to see people dancing on youtube to new dances. So, if its funny or the quality is great, more than likely the views will be high.
I have uploaded a videos on youtube but I have never done it with intent to get a lot of views. Today I checked the views of my videos and it looks like I am close to six hundred views. I really just make videos when I am bored.
I feel like the most important thing is to optimize your video. I have the experience that I was attracted by a super funny facebook post and clicked in a super boring video.I think that way you you optimize your video does matter. Some good video were found few years after it posted coincidentlly and became super hot for a while. No matter how interesting your video clip is, you have to have a good optimize plan for it to drive people come to it. Because Internet is like a net, if people are not conneted yet and you don't build the connection yourself, you can't be connected anyhow.
