Comments & Feedback
I think klout is a great way to see how much you can effect something. It's interesting that you're rated on how active you are via social media. It's a great tool that I think will be used more in the future. It makes me want to try and be more involved with social media. Its interesting to see that companies use klout and give some products away for free for those who are very high scores. It makes me wonder how important social media will be in the future.
Even though I didn't win this contest, it really showed me how much effort it takes to maintain social media pages. For this assignment I attached my Facebook, Twitter, Google+, LinkedIn, Intstagram, Tumblr, and YouTube pages to Klout and specially made a FourSquare account to attach. I started with a score of 34 and ended the semester with a score of 51. I wish Klout would add other popular social media platforms like Pinterest and Vine to their app. I use both of these apps all the time and it would help increase my Klout score even more. I plan to continue using Klout and trying to increase my score after the class is over.
I have really enjoyed getting to use Klout more this semester. I am excited to be able to use this tool in the future and I am excited to report that my Klout score improved throughout the semester, I am now at a score of 53!
Looking forward to further improving.
OMG OMG ! really ??? Can I go to that event??? I never know what is Klout. But I'm reallly interested of this even after this class!
Although my Klout score gain was unimpressive, I'm interested to see who saw great gains from this classes strategies. I had never heard of a Klout score before this class, and have realized how great of a tool it is for online personalities, bloggers, and students like us.
I never heard of klout before this class, but I guess I was already a user since my prior activity counted towards it. I went from a score of 34 and ended the class with a 44, with a high of 47. I think I will continue to use Klout as I think it may be beneficial in years to come.
This Klout competition is very interesting in the way it can measure your usefulness and involvement in social media. It is a direct reflection of the type of metrics that the Google team strives to be convenient and easy of use to its viewers. Just because of this Klout score, I have found myself staying more active and involved with what I tweeted and who was going to interact with it. It honestly encompasses some of the key points made about being effective with your social media tools.
I think that programs like Klout are so cool. I think the technology behind them to even get them to calculate those numbers is interesting to learn about. I have noticed an improvement in the my social media usage since taking this course. I think understanding the why and how behind social media is essential to being successful at it. I look at social media in a different light now and see how important little things can be to a brand/campaign.
When I first created a Klout, my score was a meer 12, but that's just taking Facebook into consideration. After all of my social media was added a base Klout score of 41 was given to me. Over the corse of these 3 months not much has changed — my current score is a 44 with an all time high of 46. I remain fairly consistant with what I post on social medi.
I was already a user of Klout before this class, but I mostly used it for bragging rights among my friends. I never realized how valuable of a resource Klout can be in digital marketing. It really is a great way to know whether the content you're posting on social media is resonating with your followers. When I started this class, my Klout score was 60, and as of today it's at 62. Not a huge increase, but being a fairly avid user of Klout before this class I was starting with a fairly strong score.
I also think Klout is a useful word-of-mouth tool for smaller companies. Klout gives its most influential users the opportunty to earn "perks." Companies give their products away for free, but their putting their product into the hands of the most vocal and influential social media users, giving themselves a great opportunity to generate business from word-of-mouth marketing.
Before I took the ADV 420 class, I had never heard of Klout before. I have incread my Klout score up around 20 points into the 40's. It is now at 46. Beign extremely busy this semester, therefore I have not been able to work on improving my score by very much. It is defifntly interesting to see, with minmal effort, how my score has improven, although havent really done much. It is interesting to see the different charts of mine and see how the different social medias havbe influenced the klout score. I think that it would be really interested to see the Google building. After watching a movie called the Internship this summer, I got a glimpse of what it could possibly look like. This made me very interested in what the actual building looks like and what the atmosphere looks like as well. I think this would be a very interesting experience, kind of like the experience I had with klout.
Starting this competition I was hardly a user of social media at all, with a Klout score of 16. I had a facebook that hardly gt used and a few posts here and there on Instagram. This competition , however, inspired me to get more involved. An opportunity to tour Google? How could someone not get excited? I activated a twitter account and became a frequent user, starte posting more on instagram, activated LinkedIn nd Google+ accounts, and also became more involved in my blog targeted toward college students. I have now eneded the semester with a scire or 52, a 36 point increase! That's quite a bit in such a short time. I have to say, I really enjoy Twitter and it has now become one of my main sources of information. I have thouroughly enjoyed this class as well and the opportunities it has presented for me.
I had an opportunity to participte in @Klout. I am really excited that I can be one of the winners at Klout competition. I will tweet my @Klout socre on my tweeter so that I ca get a chace to be invited for private tour and lunch at Google!
I don’t think I was able to enter the Klout competition at the beginning of the semester -- I don’t think I tweeted my starting Klout score. However, it started at 28 and is now up to 45. I was happy with the improvement but wish I had done everything correctly at the beginning of the semester. I will still be sending a tweet later tonight just in case you are able to look up my Klout score from when I started.
Ooh! I'm excited to see who wins! I was able to rise my klout score from 43 to 54! :D
Unfortunately, I could not participate in Klout score. I never used Twitter until i start my class in this semester. and I tried to find Klout Score and I could not find it. I rarely use other Social Medias except Face book and it would have been nice to tour and eat lunch at Google if I had a chance. I hope the winners have a great time touring at Google!
I had recieved an email when klout was first introduced and had randomly signed up not knowing what it was really about. My score began at 45 and is now at 54. The biggest factors influencing my score are probably my activity on facebook, number of facebook friends, twitter and instagram. I think the idea behind klout is incredibly genius. Seeing how much social influence people have and the giving them incentives to share things etc.
I had never heard of Klout before starting this NMDL class, and I am so happy to be using it regularly now. I have made quite a lot of progress in my score since starting class, and I realize even more now how important it can be to have a set score demonstrating your activity on social media to the public. The kind of connections you can make by utilizing your Klout score (for rewards and social media credibility, for example) are great. It is a really beneficial resource and I look forward to using it in the future after this class as well!
Before this class ADV 420 i had never heard of @Klout. Throughout the course as i had begin to learn more about it I now believe that is a great tool to use. Also, something that I may use in the future. However I am regretting the fact that i did not participate in the @klout competition during the course this semester. On an ending note I would like to say that I have definetely learned a lot of new and interesting things throughout this semester.
Well, congratulations for the future Klout Winners! This is a good oppourtunities to know the Klout score and to visit the Google office. However, I do not usually engaged with Twitter, Instagram and LinkedIn. I only do Facebook so far, but not much actively. Next time, maybe some day, I will definitely check out my Klout score.
I have entered the competition! I finished with a 45 Klout score and my 90 day high was at 49, too bad I couldn't keep it up. Klout is actually a really awesome tool and resource as my roommate was even offered an ESPN subscription because of his high Klout score. For sure want to keep up with it!
I didn’t participate in the Klout competition this semester, even if it is a great opportunity to know the score. And after reading the Klout by the google and reading through the comments that contains classmate’s score, I have better understanding of Klout and its benefits.
Before our first NMDL class, I had never even heard of Klout. However, since I have discovered the social media tracker I've been trying to increase my Klout score this semester. In the past few months, my score has increased from a 41 to 54. I officially surpassed one of my NMDL goals that we established on our profiles for our first assignment! I really do appreciate the ingenuity of this application, and look forward to utilizing it in the future.
Before the semester I heard of Klout before once or twice, but havd not really kknow what it was or was used for. I believe it is a good idea to find who is more sociable and has penty of friends that they communicate on a daily to yearly basis. I think I will be more interested in my Klout score from here on out after learning the significance of it in the work force.
Klout was very unfamiliar with me at first, but when we begin our ADV 420 class, I could realize what it is. Since I have realized, I could think that the klout can be a great resource to measure our each individual’s work on the digital world. Before I knew the klout, I could not realize that my online social media activities will not be saved or recorded, however since I have experienced the Klout, I could know about the records that my activities like on the Facebook or Twitter can be saved. In my opinion about the scores of Klout would be on the lower average, because the only social media that I used was Facebook only, and when I use the Facebook, I usually just look at the newsfeed and do not have any more activities on it. Competition by Klout is a good idea to motivate people to think about their social media activities in online I believe, and it is interesting to me.
I tweeted my score. It is 52, up 40 points from the beginning of the semester! It would be an amazing opportunity to win a lunch at Google!
I noticed that my Klout score did increase from the start of the semester due to my creation of my Pinterst account and other profiles. I noticed that the more social media platforms that I become apart of the less involved I become in each. I think I am one of those people who needs to stick to a limited amount of social media profiles and use them more often.
I find Klout to be an interesting way of measuring social media. I did wish that you could include more social media sites and that it wasn't so buggy. It has a lot of great potential and I think I will stick with it even after this class is through.
I had never heard of Klout before taking this class, and it seems to be a very helpful tool for gauging the impact of your social media profiles. However, I regret that I did not participate in the Klout competition this semester. I know I should have, because it was a really cool opportunity. It would have been interesting to see the growth in my Klout score after engaging much more in different social media.
it will be a great opportunity to have a private tour and lunch at Google office in Ann Arbor. But I guess it seems too late to raise the score right now for me. Whoever gets prize, congratulations!
I remember hearing of Klout when it was released. It was finally a tangible way to grade social networking. This semester was huge for me as I actively tracked that number as it went up and down, and as I learned what worked and didn't work
I like to tryout the competition, but I think I will never get the chance of the prize. The reason is I did not actively compare to other students; I do not do Twitter and Instagram and etc. This is a good opportunity for those who gained many points from Klout. I might contribute for the less competition rate for those who want to go to Google office. Congratulations to the winners and have fun with the tour.
Unfortunately I did not participate in the Klout competition this semester, even though it is an absolutely amazing opportunity with once in a lifetime rewards. However, reading through the comments on this blog and also looking at all the #nmdl hash tags on twitter I have a better understanding on what klout really is, and how beneficial it is to ones personal brand. Being in this class, and attending various networking events provided by the Communications department, your personal brand can be a deciding factor between a successful career and a mediocre one. I hope to start following my klout score closely and work to build it up in the next few months leading up to graduation.
I actually never was very active on twitter and have never had a Facebook page until this course. I hope through the digital skills I have gained in this course and as I continue to be more positively active on social media I can continuously build my klout score and brand.
I knew what Klout was before starting this class but did not realize how high my score was compared to most people. I just naturally am on social media constantly! I made it a goal for myself to increase my score even after having the highest score of the class at the beginning of the semester. It's hard to increase a score after it's already faily large, but I managed to make it to a current 61 which is the highest it has ever been. I am proud of my score, even if it is not the highest. I made an effort to check it consistantly and found it interesting to see how it fluctutes week to week.
Congradulations to the winners, this is a really great opportunity and an awesome idea for a competition.
Being an independent filmmaker, Social media is HUGE. I never realized how active i was on Social Media until i started using Klout. I began at a score of 15 and once i included all of my social media accounts I was at a score of 60. I reached a high of 61 and now am back at 59. Being a daily social media user, i now realize how difficult it is to keep a high Klout score. Overall, its been a great learning experience and i will continue to use it.
I never heard or new what Klout was before taking this class. My klout score when i first checked at the beginning of the semester was 11, and now over a few months time has increased to 44. I havent taken many initiatives to improve my klout score much, and actually am looking at it for the second time every today. Very cool to see a history of my network breakdowns over time in chart forms on the site. I defnitely need to add my linkedin accounts and google + to see what my increased score would be. Hope i can get chosen for the lunch at Google, fingers crossed lol!
Wow, Klout really surprised me! I found it extremely difficult to raise my score. My score only increased by about 2 points over the course of the semester. It requires dedication and creativity to excel on the klout scale. It also requires too much accumulated time connected to social networks and the internet. Way more time than I would ever want to spend engulfed in technology. Therefore, my success was minimial in the contest and I hope I am one of the random winners!
I really enjoyed this competition throughout the semester. I found myself checking my score every now and again. If my score hadn't gone up since the last time I checked my score, I found myself getting upset and wantint to increase my score. I think this is a really good a tool for businesses to use and I am excited to see what the future holds for Klout.
I also hadn't ever heard of Klout before this class. I have found it really fun all semester to track my effectiveness on social media. One of the things that I found most benefitting was to see what types of likes and posts gained me the biggest increases in my score. I really appreciate the opportunity that we have been presented to make this a friendly competition, at the end of the day even if we are of the people who don't win, it was a really fun way to compete with people in the class.
This was a really fun competition! When I first did my Klout score, it was only at 33. I considered myself to be an avid social media user, but not according to my Klout score. Throughout the course, I made a point to use more hashtags and tried to get more "likes" on my Facebook statuses and instagram pictures. I checked my Klout score today and it rose 22 points to a final score of 55! I am pleased with myself and my increased social media use. I hope that the gap between my first and last Klout score is big enough to score a lunch at Google!
This was and awesome competition and it got me a lot more interested in engaging with my social media profiles. I started off the semester with a Klout score of 26. I ended with a Klout score of 40 and am still looking forward to increasing my score. Thank you for this awesome opportunity and class. It makes the material so much more engaging and fun.

I had a pretty high Koult score in the beginning. Unfortunately, I do not us a lot of social media as much as I used to. However, I do think that the Klout score is very helpful for individuals who partake in a lot of social Internet activities. It helps them better evaluate their online presence. I would like to win the competition, but I’m not sure if I am the most qualified candidate. Good luck to us all.
I did not partake in the Klout competition. I really didnt look into it and I'm alittle sad about it. I'm really considering just filling out the information just to see where I'm at with it. It's going to be interesting to see others scores and where they rank. I hope whomever wins enjoys their trip to the Google office.
On September 17, my Klout score was 48; two months later, it remains 48, with a 51.68 90-day high. My score breaks down by network to: 54% Facebook, 38% Twitter, 4% LinkedIn, 2% Klout, 1% Foursquare, and 1% Google+. All but three of the impactful activities were on Facebook.
For me, Klout reinforced the saying “It’s all about who you know.” I’ve been on Facebook since 2005, where I’ve been cultivating a network of 938 friends, including about 45 close friends. As I expected, these 45 people are the ones who regularly engaged with the Facebook activities that impacted my Klout score. Maybe a handful of these friends are active at all on any of the other social networks I connected to my Klout, and none of them regularly.
I realize I could have posted more interesting content to get more people to engage with me and raise my Klout score. However, now that it’s fall, I spend my time going to class, working two jobs, and doing homework, which leaves very little time in my life to participate in things that might be of interest to my networks. When I was doing activities that might be interesting to my networks, I was too engaged in my activity to take the time to post about it. Additionally, when I did attempt to post about my interesting activities, my fiddling with my phone was highly alienating to the friends and family with whom I was sharing the experience in real life.
I have never heard of Klout before this class. After hearing about it, I looked into and signed up to see my Klout score. I started at 34 and by the end of the semester I ended at 50 and hopefully it will still increase. I think it is a good idea to measure how other users interact with social media. Majority of my Klout score comes from Facebook and Instagram. Twitter and Google + are defiantly in the lower ranking. I am not very involved with social media like I used to be. However, after leaning the importance of social media, I realize it is important to use in what I am majoring in. Winning a tour at Google would have been an awarding experience.
I guess I was always confused on this whole Klout ordeal, but I wish I would have participated! I am curious to see what my twitter would project on Klout. Also, I a private tour of the Google Ann Arbor office would be amazing! I have driven by many times since I live right in Plymouth and I am curious what it is like inside. Have fun to whoever wins, consider yourself lucky! :P
I think that it would be amazing to tour the Google Ann Arbor Office. Google is such an amazing company and I saw the Internship this summer, which I thought posed as a great work environment. There is always competition going on, which is what I also enjoyed about this class in offering this @Klout competition. Unfortunately I've had my @Klout for a few years, and I've learned it's harder and harder to keep up a solid score. At one point in my glory days I had a score high in the 60's. At the beginning of this semester I started out with a 56, now I'm down to a 52. I'm just crossing my fingers that I am one of the lucky random winners!
I wish that I would have had my Klout score before my birthday, I never really used my accounts before NMDL. It was at 12 before so my use did significantly increase. Just does not exactly display it. I was however pleased that I was able to saty consitent in my score.
I have never heared about this social media, before this adv420 class. Klout is a great online social platform. Everone can share their life experience with other people. I will start to use this social web for this class. I hope Klout can give me more information.
