Class. Take a moment and look at some brand pages on Facebook. Who has done a great job on their Timeline? Then I want you to go look at some brand Pinterest pages, and see who has done the best. If you are so inpsired, share an example on the comments of this post of a brand that you feel does a great job. I am really curious to see what you come up with. BTW, have you tried the Timeline? Do you like it? The new Ingenex Digital Facebook timeline is a work in progress. Like our new photo?

I think Nike has done a great job on their Timeline. I like the way that they post images of their products and all of them are really creative. They also provide all details of their products with images when the new collections are released. I haven’t tried the Timeline because I feel like I have no privacy with the Timeline since I cannot really control the privacy settings. I prefer to use Facebook the way I use it now.

Personally I do not like the Timeline Layout. It has slowed down Facebook and is a lot harder to access information. It definitely did not help the simplicity of Facebook. Starbucks has done a very successful job of utilizing Facebook timeline.  Its creating of content has driven many new customers into its stores by offering discounts or offering product trials.

Boy, I hate corporate stuff clogging up my facebook page. I think pinterest actually was created to fill a niche that facebook, twitter and other social networks weren't ideal for.

The way I see it:

facebook is for personal friends, family and perhaps colleagues/classmates who are interested in your personal life.

Twitter is to connect with/get the thoughts of people of influence in the media, Hollywood, sports or friends for entertainment.

Pinterest allows us to connect with brands, specific products or practically anything else in a very tangible, singularly focused way. It's the virtualization of window shopping, but with all of your friends, all the time, while still sitting on your fat butt.

If I had to choose a facebook page I like, Threadless does a very nice job.

I've dreaded the timeline since I first heard about it. My personal account still hasn't been switched to the timeline. I just recently switched my organization's brand page to the timeline, and I'm still trying to get used to it (although I'm digging the new admin panel). I still can't say I'm a fan of the timeline, and because of that I haven't really looked into it as far as branding purposes go. I know for my organization's brand page I've used the new banner section to advertise upcoming events, but that's about it.

Because I'm not too hip on the timeline concept, I decided to look at Facebook's brand page on Facebook. If anyone knows how to use Facebook timeline, it's Facebook. Right off the bat, the banner grabs your attention. It's dark and colorful. The page itself doesn't just have status updates. It mixed new updates with old updates and how many likes they have overall and for specific months. It switches up the size of the posts and the length of the posts to make the page more visually appealing. It mixes up textual posts with photo posts and video posts, and provides useful windows at the top for easy access to different sections of the page.

While the new layout is interesting, and you can display more information and make it more easily accessable, I'm still not bought on the whole timeline thing. Perhaps I'll have a different view once I deal more closely with the timeline for my own organization.

From all of the companies adjusting to Timeline, I find that I really enjoy BestBuy's Timeline best.  We see from the cover photo that it is similiar to its commercials showing hundreds of employees ready to help you out in anyway possible.  And underlying look into it, you can see the in the cover photo that Bestbuy is a very diverse company having many different races represented as workers.  Another very cool thing they have done is utilize the way links can be incorporated into the timeline.  The FB timeline of Bestbuy looks almost like a webside with navigation bars directly under the cover photo.  The posts by Bestbuy really get people interacting with it.  An example is a post about Bob Dylan.  Not only does the post tell us that during the time/ day, 50 years prior, Bob Dylan released his first album, but they also try and get a response by consumers by asking "what is your favorite Bob Dylan song".  This action recieved a decent amount of likes and comments by individuals.  Bestbuy keeps up to date with all the new things happening at BestBuy stores and I feel like that are using Timeline to its potential.

I personally don't mind Timeline. Although I do wish it wasn't quite so easy to bring up pictures from when I was 18! I really like Urban Outfitters timeline because of the old school pictures they post. Some of the fashion from back in the day are hilarious! I think Timeline does wonders for brands who execute it well because the cover photo can really make or break a page. It does a lot to make each page unique diverse, which I really enjoy.

I like the way the Detroit Tigers have made their timeline. They seem to post updates often to keep me in the loop of everything that is going on with the team. They post a lot of videos and highlights from the games. Since there are so many games in baseball I don’t have time to watch all of them, so it’s really nice to be able to get updates through Facebook which I check very often.

I was actually one of the first people to switch over to Facebook timeline. I added it when I had to get a password through my phone for it to change. I find it enjoyable. Sometimes it is hard to follow but it has made looking in the past a lot easier. It allowed me to delete some things that happened in the past that I probably shouldn’t have posted to Facebook in the first place.

Oh no, I hope the profs don't think I copied the blog post in my final project :/ I think that timelines on facebook don't really matter.  I say this because, unless you are really alredy invested into a brand, why would you ever scroll down and click on specific years of a brand's timeline.  It's cool for already brand loyal customers.  But, as far as Pinterest goes, I think that a brand is stupid to not use it.  There are so many communities of people with different interests from foodies to motorcyle enthusiasts to mothers that a brand can find a home there.

Although I currently don't have the facebook timeline feature applied to mine yet I have seen it ever and realized I'll probably be forced to get it soon so I might as well get used to it and learn about the new features it has. A company that I feel has done a good job to utilize facebook's new timeline layout is the DIA.  One of my biggest peeves with the new timeline is when people choose a cover photo that doesn't line up well when you view their page and part of the image comes out cropped weird. Fortunately they don't have that problem. They also made good use of the map feature for location and put in their hours of business and contact availability. Although you would think these things should be obvious a lot of company's forget this vital information that is detrimental to their success. They feature their upcoming events on their page and you can see their fans input as well. I think as long as you know your audience the new facebook timeline layout is a great way to advertise and market yourself to new clients!

After viewing several famous brand’s FB page, I like McDonald’s best. Aside from its frequent update, interactive with its customers, I like its page arrangement. First, it is classic. Entering the timeline page, you will forget that it is a fast food brand. The first impression it gives people is that McDonald’s is a brand with a story. This is a good branding. Second, it uses the advantage of the idea of “timeline”. Unlike all the other pages I viewed today, McDonald’s is the only one that tracing back to its foundation. Others I saw today just end at the time that they joined Facebook. McDonald’s list all the milestones in history. From its FB page, people can tell how attentively McDonald’s is taking care of its social media and its brand image.

Yes, I do have Timeline, and I have for some time now. Originally it was fun to look back at my own posts and photos, and then it got old real quick. And, I wasn’t even sure I wanted some of the old stuff so easily accessible to certain people. However, I’ve also been one to try to embrace Facebook’s changes, so I’m coming around. I think as an average college Facebook user the new format is sometimes annoying, but I also see the potential, especially for brand pages. And besides, soon enough it’ll change again. I have decided that although I think a brand needs to take the time to optimize on timeline features, I think for many brands creating an even better Pinterest account may be more beneficial.

Starbucks took advantage of the milestones feature of the new timeline Facebook. Quick history notes date back to when the first store was opened, to when they introduced the Starbucks card. It wasn’t overly text heavy and the titles and/or subtext had personality. In my own opinion, and after reading articles on some of the best ways to optimize marketing through Facebook timeline brand pages, I thought Starbucks did this well, it’s enough information to engage the viewer, and not be bored of overwhelmed with the complete history of the brand. I also liked Coca-Cola’s page for their use of the milestones, much like Starbucks and also their cover photo and how it integrates the simple profile picture. Oreo does a good job of integrating their current “birthday” promotion throughout the timeline.

After browsing through some Pinterest brand pages, I was impressed with Lowe’s. They had quite a few boards that were all well organized, relevant, and creative. Boards ranged from categories such as price, holiday, DIY, rooms, old advertisements, gifts, etc.

After reading a few articles on Facebook timeline brand pages, I decided to follow a few of those top brands to Pinterest. I was actually hoping Coca-Cola would have optimized their Pinterest page, but I’m actually quite disappointed. Some might question the Pinterest opportunity I believe Coca-Cola has because they aren’t a home improvement or fashion brand, but Coca-Cola has a lot of interesting history and has been a part of pop culture across the globe for decades. It has the opportunity to really spread the brand in new (and old) ways across an even broader audience then just those die-hard Coca-Cola memorabilia collectors. I see the potential for board categories like recipes, holiday and party ideas, old advertisements, quotes, photography, collectables, art, crafts, and the list literally is going on and on in my head! I’m wondering where their social media expert is?! I can say I am not by any means brand loyal to Coca-Cola; however, I can see the potential that I could be after a few great pins.

P.S. Digging the new cover photo.

HGTV has utilized the Timeline and Pinterest to their advantage.  On their Facebook page, they highlight episodes and ideas for projects and allow you to go back through the Timeline to search for whatever you are looking for.  Pinterest works perfectly to their advantage because the entire brand is about decoration or home improvement ideas, do-it-yourself projects, and sharing creative masterpieces.

As for my own use of Timeline, I'm not overly excited about it.  I guess it's a walk down memory lane, but again, I think it's just another facet to try to keep Facebook interesting.

Student

Timeline is very useful for companies to display their history and milestones to consumers. I think images are very important factors of Timeline that a good Timeline page should be visually appealing. So I think comanies should use a unique cover photo to represent the brands and visually impact the audience. As for profile photo, it should intergrate nicely with the cover photo. Then comes to the customized tab. It's not necessary to list out too many tabs on the tmeline page. Just list out the most important and popular ones according to the company image and position (eg: photos, twitter tab, YouTube. For example, I like Evian's Timeline page, which is very clean and focused, and the color and images they use are also appealing. On milestone section, companies could include innovative images to represent some events and activities of them.

I have had Timeline for quite awhile now and really enjoy it. I like the cover photo the most because you can really tailor it to your personality. As far as companies go I really like Under Armour's timeline page. They post links about the athletes they sponsor, products they've released, and other cool links. They go back to when they were founded in 1996 in Baltimore, Maryland. They are now the one of the leading sports product manufacturers in the world, and definitely my favorite. They also sponsor some of my favorite athletes like Ray Lewis and Cam Newton.

I think McDonald's has done a good job with their Timeline.  The have a nostalgic cover photo and maintain their page well.  They post videos, links, and surveys as well as contest results.  I think variety is important when it comes to creating a good company Facebook page.  I have no idea how to use Pinterest so I searched what companies were making good use of it, and Whole Foods was one of them.  They have pinned healthy food items and ways to recycle old items into new things.  I refuse to change to the Timeline until I'm forced to.  I personally think it's terrible and much more disorganized and difficult to navigate than the older version.  I don't like it showing giant pictures when people change profile pictures or the zig-zag style of posting.  I like the older version with everything in list form.  Facebook seems to change their layout every other month and eventually I'll probably get tired of it and delete my page.

I am a big fan of social media such as Facebook. I prefer Chinese Twiteer more than anything. I really enjoy look at people's movements all the time. However, i don't have that much to post I just like to see what happened to my friends. I think it is a fun thing to do in my leisure. Many people write their social media as a timeline. I think it is absolutely right. People talk about themselves, their life, their moods, everything.

Kleenex has a cool Timeline. It goes all the way back to the 1920s to the start of the company. This is really cool and helps shows the history of the company. I have not tried Timeline for myself yet. I like features of it but not all of it. I really like the cover photo, the information and pictures below it but the actually Timeline part I think is hard to read. But for a company I think a timeline is a really good idea. Kleenex does not have a Pinterest page but honestly I never knew companies were on Pinterest. Now knowing this I started searching for random companies to see if they have a page. One I found was for Target. They have 4 boards: kids these days, food for thought, target style, and target baby. These boards have a total of 73 pins on them.  I think it is a really good idea for a company to have a Pinterest page; especially a company like Target.

I really like the new Facebook timeline. I feel like it makes the pages easier to navigate and the new picture viewer is unreal. I also like the idea of a cover photo it allows you to express your personality on the top of your profile while your profile picture is still just a picture of you. I really like this aspect. I also think that the Timeline feature has really aided many companies in their company page creation. The new company pages seem to flow better, and it allows businesses to post pictures of their most recent product. The cover photo seems great for companies as well, it really lets them show off or display a prominent aspect of their business model or their marquee product. I took a gander at Ford motor company’s Facebook timeline and I really liked it. It shows all of their cars and new products. Also it displays their vehicles currently being used in the racing circuit.

I personally like how Red Bull utilizes their Timeline on Facebook because of all the images they show. Also, it's easier to go back in their history to see past events and highlights. I persionally like the Timeline feature because it's easy to go back and review past events in my life. I like how I can show people what I was doing in senior year, and how I've changed since then. I think the new Ingenex Digital photo is super cool and creative. I like how it shows your team, and how it seems welcoming.

Very innovative and digital marketing agency like !

I love the way timeline provides outline of one's time.

It gives you your own history. If you'd like to figure out what you posted on your facebook in 2007, no problem !

For Ingenex, it will be able to inform and remind both company and clients of what activities and other things that the company have achieved.

The only con I see is it just looks confusing for the beginner.

Brilliant if you know how to use it properly !

I like the use of timeline by Toyota. They actually used as a real chronological timeline by putting which cars were introduce in what year. So say for example, if you  want to see what a 1988 camry looked like when it came out, then you simply click on 1988 and boom! The camry. They tried to do the same on pinterest but failed because Pinterest is not set up that way. They tried to make each board a specific year but it would be just too much. Maybe they shouldn't trick to mimic a timeline on pinterest.

This is an example that brands DON'T have to have a presence on every single social media network. Only be present where there is an established community.

Student

Starbucks has done a perfect job on their Facebook timeline. They have not only lots of regularly eye grabbing updates on it, also had added a bunch of early news form the year of its establishment. That gives people such feelings that someones in the Company really care about what they have done in the past and they are very proud of it.

At the beginning, I didn't really follow any brand page on Pinterest, but I liked to keep up with the newest updates of fashion and designs and repin them. Then, when I found that there is a Pinterest logo on ModCloth's website, I started to follow it and found that actually it is a really productive and innovative account. Many well-known large companies haven't put too much attentions on Pinterest yet, so right now is the time for middle-small companies to take the "early-taken" advantage of this social platform.

Love 7-Eleven facebook page. They update different product suggestion based on the weather change and special occasion. For example on sunny day 7-eleven posted 10 choices of afternoon tea with their product info. Another recent post is about the most popular food to bring out for a picnic.

Student

One of my favorite Facebook pages was Redbull energy drink. They have done an excellent job utilizing the timeline facebook profile. Throughtout the profile they have real videos of athletes that are sponsored by Red Bull doing really cool tricks outdoors. This profile has great content and they're not shoving their product in your face. Just looking at the Red Bull page you can learn so much about current, really important and well known athletes. It's also cool to watch these videos of them accomplishing tricks that no one ever has before. They also have a twitter feed of all of their athelete's twitters and it is constantly updated. This page is loaded with content. It succesfully links all of the media into one page. If anyone wanted to get the idea for what redbull was "all about" they could easily find out on this page.

In general, with the timeline feature, I enjoy it but only because it graphically looks better. What I don't like is how it makes the page look more cluttered and it's more confusting to sort though all the content on the page. I think it was a smart move for Facebook to change up the profile. I've heard the least amount of complaints with this change than any other one Facebook has done.

I think the Body Shop did a great job at the its Facebook page timeline. All kinds of greens on its cover photo makes me feel calm and comfortable. The page is functional as well. People can click the smaller pictures to know more about its values and the products from A to Z. The timeline is well-maintained. They update the wall with pictures and videos almost every day. They also utilize Facebook well to do marketing. Both in-store promotion and online campaigns would be posted on the page.

Student

After looking at a few brands on facebook, I decided that Maybeline stuck out to me. They do a really good job of updating their page fairly often (every few days.) Also, I like how every post is not similar they either direct you to a link or have a post with an interesting picture. Being a creative advertising major, whose dream job would be to create makeup ads or alcohol ads, i really like their timeline. I love the pictures they chose to show off their makeup and i think it does a good job of showing the variety their company offers and it's beautiful colors.

A brand that I think is using the new Facebook timeline well is Nike. I really enjoyed the set up of their page and felt like they actually did something creative and different. There are many pictures on the page of Nike shoes being used together to create different shapes, my favorite was a butterfly. These are the types of things that make a brand like Nike stick out.

I also checkd out their pinterest page and felt that it worked perfectly with the website. Nike uses pictures of clothing and then they just use copies of their ads to create diversity on their page.

One of my favorite brand Facebook timelines is Covergirl. I think Covergirl does a wonderful job of keeping its timeline updated and looking fresh. The cover picture includes the latest celebrity Covergirls: Taylor Swift, Ellen Degeneres, Queen Latifah, and Sofia Vergara. Covergirl keeps its timeline updated with news, events, pictures, shopping, and they interact with customers. Its timeline is set up in a way that is easy to navigate through the different pages and it has a visual appeal.

After looking through many brands on Pinterest, the one that I thought was set up the best was Whole Foods Market.  It has many boards that have to do with its store such as recipe boards, and garden boards, but it also has fun boards that have nothing to do with its business. I think that this is a great way to connect with many different kinds of people at many different levels.

Student

I am biased a bit here because I am using them for my digital marketing strategy assignment, but Gatorade has a tremendous brand presence on Facebook and their use of the Timeline feature is suberb.  Gatorade's Timeline is consistent with their main website and their Twitter page, as everything is in sync and consistent with each other and it is all very well organized.  Their Timeline photo presents the main theme to their newest campaign, Win From Within, and it is easy to see this theme heavily present in different Timeline posts.  The posts include every mention about Gatordade from anyone who likes their page, so it is neat to see what people are saying about them, with some of their own personal stuff in between.  Personally, I am not a huge timeline fan, and I think I'm one of few of my friends who still isn't using it.  I'm a fan of tradition and consistency for consumers, including ease.  Bigger doesn't always mean better.  I am also a huge proponent of the "if it ain't broke don't fix it theme".  I'm an old school kind of guy.

A company that I think ALWAYS does an amazing job is the Michigan based mountaineering company, Moosejaw. Moosejaw totally understands the power of social media and the best ways to utilize it. Their new Facebook Timeline page offers constantly changing content, customer interaction, contests, entertaining pictures and much more.

As far as Pinterest brand pages, I don't personally follow any brand pages, but I can see how it would be a good way of sharing a website's content and products when people re-pin things to their boards for their friends to see. And as far as Facebook Timeline, it took some time for me to get used to but it has definitely grown on me. I like that I can jump to a certain time and see posts from then.

I think Lilly Pulitzer has done a great job on their Facebook timeline. They have lots of specials and updates that regularly pop up on my newsfeed. I also think they do an awesome event every year. They run a campaign encouraging girls in sororities to like their page. The house with the most “likes” gets their own Lilly Pulitzer print with their letters on it. I personally have participated in this campaign. I sent the contest to friends who attend different schools who are in my house as well as people who aren’t and it got them to go to and “like” Lilly Pulitzer’s page. I also believe the online clothing store Tobi has done a great job with their Pinterest page.  They have a lot of different products as well as people pinning their products for them. As an online only company, that’s huge! Facebook recently switched my account on its own to timeline and I have to be honest, I was very disappointed about it in the beginning. But as I come to be more accustomed to it, I’ve grown to like it. I love having the option of having a profile picture and then also a cover picture. I love that the cover picture can be a picture you like, but wouldn’t necessarily work as a profile picture. It better explains who you are and what you’re all about which is very important in the Facebook world.

Student

I usually follow sports teams pages of facebook and I really enjoy the Detroit Tigers page. I am a hug fan and I feel that they do a great job posting informative and entertaining material that all fans will like. They post key play videos and interviews of the players before and after games. This helps me keep up with the team if I miss a game or just want to watch a replay of a walk off homer or an interview from the players of the game or Jim Leyland. As far as timeline goes I have not played around with it and have not switched over yet. I do not plan to switch over until I have to.

Student

I don't really follow brands much on Facebook, but I do like to keep up with athletic departments and sports teams at my favorite schools in the NCAA. With that being said, I think MSU does a great job of providing interesting photos and informative news stories, candid interviews, and behind the scenes coverage of what some of the student-athletes are doing throughout the year. I have not gotten into the whole timeline thing yet, and don't plan to switch over to it unless I absolutely have to. Personally, I'm not a big fan of it with the exception of the cover photo idea. I like that because I think it provides users a liberating way to convey a personal image or first impression about who they are, what their personality is like, or what they enjoy in life.

Student

A company I think is doing a good job using Facebook timeline effectively is Goodwill. They post updates on their timeline daily and add photos and videos to make the content more interesting. Goodwill also does a great job emphasizing the mission of their organization and sharing success stories of their customers. The most beneficial way they are using timeline is to ask customers for their opinions, complaints and compliments so they can get useful feedback. My Facebook page switched automatically to the Timeline format a while ago. Honestly at first I was not a fan, simply because it was different and I wasn't used to navigating through it. After using it for a little while I got used to it and now I am indifferent to it. People that are really not in favor of it should just do it because it really isn't that big of a deal.

Student

i understand that Facebook wants to keep up with constantly changing social media, but I do not think it is necessary to change their layout every few months. Frankly it is quite annoying. The timeline feature has to be my least favorite change because the page doesn't flow and isn't as readable to me, but Victoria Secret's Pink business page is done nicely on Facebook. http://www.facebook.com/vspink Their timeline includes photos of new products so the page is kind of like a look book. They also mention their pinterest account which successfully uses pinboards to categorize and separate their new products.

Student

I do currently have Timeline applied onto my Facebook. One time when I logged on it asked if I wanted to start using TimeLine for my FaceBook page, I knew it was a matter of time before I was forced to switch to it anyways so I decided to make the switch. To be honest, everyone who uses FaceBook should realize that changes will be made in efforts to keep up with social media's quick changing needs that are presented by the consumers. Every time FaceBook implements a change, users are quick to complain and attempt to petition for the "old FaceBook" back, but instead I think maybe they should attempt to discover all of the new benefits that the updates have to offer. Clearly FaceBook is not trying to aggrevate any of their users by switching their setup, so the switch must offer benefits to the users that the FaceBook team feel are necessary to make the change. I am in the process of getting used to Timeline--like all changes in life they take a little adjusting and getting used to but I do believe that it offers new unique features.

One company that I believe has a good Timeline is Target. They have creatively placed a spring picture for their cover picture making their page appropriate and inviting to consumers. Their page is also branded very well, having their company logo (the bullseye) as their profile picture. They also post often which helps engage consumers in discussion on their page.

Student

I think that Target has done a good job with their Timeline. They have an updated cover picture for the spring time. They update regularly about specials and new arrivals. They take polls where customers can interact.

I have yet to make the switch to Timeline. I don't think its terrible though. I actually like the cover picture idea because it allows you to add a personal touch to your page. However, I think the Timeline portion is useless because I will never keep up with that. Once I'm switched over I'll have to keep an open mind or else I'll probably stick to Twitter.

Student

I was one of the people that was forced to switch to Timeline. At first I really didn’t want to have Timeline and I was kind of annoyed when I just got switched, especially when it wasn’t my choice, but now I’m kind of indifferent about it. I mostly use it just to catch up with friends or share pictures. A company that is using the Facebook Timeline and Pinterest pages well is Lucky Brand. They are really using them to let people have a deeper look into their company, with pictures from specific events, videos, deals and promotions, as well as other things. I had never actually paid attention to companies that were on Pinterest, but it’s one more way to get the products out there and since Pinterest’s main function is sharing, then I think it’s a good tool. Lucky Brand has even developed featured posts about which of their products would be a “must” to include if packing for Coachella, which really shows they are targeting their specific audience.

Student

I was recently forced to switch to Timeline and I can say that I really don't like it much. I think the wall post dates are confusing and the actual "timeline" part is unnecessary for me. I do like the cover photo idea because it gives your page a little more personality, but I don't think the rest of it is needed. I do like how photos look when uploading an album now as well. I am still getting used to it and maybe when everyone else's is switched, I will get the hang of it better!

I do like your picture and I think an interesting/cool picture like that is necessary for a company. It grabs the users attention and makes them stay on your page longer. I really like The North Face's cover photo http://www.facebook.com/thenorthface because like I said before it is interesting and grabs my attention!

Student

I recently switched to Timeline and I actually don't mind it. I really like the cover photo idea and I like how you can go back as on your page as far as you want a lot easier than before. It is a little bit more cluttered looking for me though. One company I think is doing a great job with Tiimeline is Gap. They use the pictures from thier photoshoots as the cover photos and then use their company sign as their profile picture. Their facebook page is very well organized and updated frequently with new styles, ideas, and discounts.

Pinterest is great for clothing brands. It gives the brands a chance to put outfits together for thier customers. I also noticed that many clothing brands have boards dedicated to customers in their clothing. I thought that was a creative way to customers involved.

I’m a big fan of Victoria Secret’s PINK and also Sephora is my beauty go-to. I have already “liked” them both on Facebook. I think that they both do an exceptional job utilizing Facebook. They are consistently posting new things, and also new promotions and sales. It’s a great way to see the latest greatest without having to go into stores or to the websites. They both have their sites decorated nice and they are updates everyday.

Personally, I do like Timeline. In my opinion, people that do not like it choose not to simply because people do not like change. It’s easier to navigate, and pictures are displayed bigger and easier to see. I switched to Timeline right away and I don’t have any complaints.

Some brands on facebook that I am a fan of that I think are doing a good job with the new timeline format are Sephora, Forever 21, DSW and Victoria's Secret Pink. These brands are making the most of this new layout by adding more photos and videos and highlighting more of their fan's postings. These brands also have great cover photos that showcase their brand image. I have had the timeline format for my facebook now for the past 5 months or so and I really like it. After I was studying abroad in Australia last semester I wanted to showcase my favorite pictures with the cover photo option. However, I do not like how you cannot control as many privacy settings with the timeline. I feel that too much of my profile can be showed to the public that I would rather keep private.

I'm a pretty big fan of fine men's clothing, and I think Banana Republic does the best job incorporating a community of fans on Facebook. It includes details about upcoming sales and discounts, new styles, contests, promotions, and more. Currently, Banana Republic is sponsoring the clothing style from AMC's hit show, Mad Men, so obviously I'm going to like what Banana Republic has to offer. The timeline works for them because of the different categories they have ecompass. Events, Likes, their YouTube channel, and it shows mutual friends who like their page.

Personally, I do not mind Timeline because I feel that everyone is transitioning to Twitter because of Facebook's decision to change everyone's profile. I still like going on Timeline to see new photos, but other than that, I do not use Facebook as much as I used to. I like how Timeline does divide the page in two so everyting is on the page, so you have minimal clicking to do. The cover photo is another cool feature because who hasn't been in-between deciding which picture to use as their profile?

First off, I do not like the new facebook timeline. It is trying to become like twitter although it never will be. I have been using facebook less and less and now barely use it and only do so for important things or to catch up with people. A company that does a great job utilizing timeline tho is Nike. Nike always does a great job at advertising in everything they do. They always have great products, great commercials etc. and their timeline is no different. They have great videos on it, great pictures of their products and I could not think of a better way for a company to use facebook timeline.

Nice work with the picture!

I am also one of the people who has not switched over to the new timeline, but I know it's coming soon. I've the timeline on some of my friends' profiles and even though it is a neat way to keep everything organized and find and delete the embarassing things faster, I just think it is all over the place. I personally don't like how it is set up in two columns I'm not sure if I am looking at something recent or something old from the beginning of the year. One brand I looked at, because I am involved in it this year, is the Chevrolet Detroit Belle Isle Grand Prix. I feel that they did a nice job showing how events they have done through out the months leading up to the event. They used a lot of pictures and adequately titled them. They also did a great job using Facebook to reach out to and interact with fans.

I do have a timeline and can say it's pretty ingenious. The concept of the timeline becoming integrated with a Brand or Business simple makes sense. I found Burberry's timeline to be pretty visually stimulating, as well as factual in the observation of the 156 year old global brand. Check it out here!

I thought that Nike Golf's brand page on Facebook did a tremendous job keeping it's timeline engaging in the days leading up to the Masters and during it. It is interactive and shares a great deal of media related to coverage of Augusta. As for Facebook's new timeline feature, I really do not like it. If it came to a point where I was forced to switch I would consider dropping Facebook all together. It is way to complicated to browse profile pages.

First, I want to start by saying that no! I do not like Timeline. I was just forced to convert my Facebook page over to it and I think it is much more confusing to navigate other people's pages and it just seems uneccessary. With the old layout, you could see much more that was going on on someone's page and now you have to scroll down really far. However, just because I don't like it doesn't mean I might not get used to it in time and it also doesn't mean that companies have successfully learned to use it. One example of a company that has done a great job on their timeline is Starbucks, my focal company. This company has continued to frequently upadate their Facebook timeline to keep it up to date. They also add new posts and activity almost daily which keeps their timeline extremely detailed. In addition, they interact with their fans and customers frequently making people feel a part of the Starbucks experience and like the company cares for them. When it comes to Pinterest, a brand that I have found to be doing well (meaning they are frequently the source of an image pinned) is marthastuart.com. I spend a lot of time on Pinterest looking for recipes and in the food section of Pinterest many of the recipes source is marthastuart.com. This is giving the brand recognition and attention and this marketing is being done for them for free. It is being spread by "word of mouth" electronically between "pinners."

I think timeline is definitely a change in facebook and everytime that something that you visit every day multiple times a day changes it creates an uproar. It's important when using timeline you utilize the cover photo as well as the benefit of splitting the timeline in half. You can post more things and people can see the activity side by side. The great thing about the brand pages is that you can use the cover photo and other posts to release ads and it can show you who liked it, how many of your friends liked it and what they think. I think under armour did an awesome job with using timeline to their advantage and even used it to promote a contest that they had.

I thought that Urban Outfitters facebook timeline was extremely well done. They added pictures from the 70's, 80's and 90's to show how their brand evolved. They also have a lot of user interaction. Another well done page would be Pepsi, on the main toolbar of the timeline they have links to the website and even a deals section, where you can special coupons for using social media, what a neat idea!

Initially I was not a fan of the timeline, but I never quite like when they change facebook. Although I know find it convenient to look back at the history of users. Facebook timeline helps individuals to "brand" themselves.
