I've never had an internship, but I want to do it. I have a wide variety of job experiences and job offers, but never a solid internship offer. It seems that there are just many more jobs out there than there are internships. Up until now, I've taken the jobs over the internships because the money is too much to turn down, and my time is too valuable to use on something that won't pay me in the short term. If I could find an internship that pays a decent amount, I may consider it. For now though, I'll stick to something that is paid.
I actually have had some decent internships. I have one right now that is digital based, I am the social media marketing intern for an online magazine. The downfall of digital internships is that I dont feel as compelled to put in all my effort because I am not in an office-- im in my bed, on the couch, at the kitchen table. I can get side tracked easily, but I have learned how to control whats around me and put myelf in a setting where I know I will get the weeks work done.
this winter, I got chance to work for one of Korea's biggest food company call CJ. I am very excited but also very nervous. I will have a chance to learn about food marketing and advertising. I am hoping that what I've learned from this course will help me go through my very first internship.
I have never before this semester pursued an official social media internship opportunity, but mainly because I was still trying to find myself and what type of career path I wanted. Once I realized I could find, and to a certain extent design, a job around my creative, sporadic and eccentric ideas that are constantly floating around my mind, I went for it. And now I am looking for a job in which I can tailor those ideas to benefit businesses through social media and digital marketing.
My dad has always told me I will make myself successful because of my "great ideas" and I have finally come to find what he meant by that. Creativity is not only in my blood, it is my blood. He came up with an odd and nearly genius idea for a niche business that he has found great success from. I had the opporunity to 'intern' for him in multiple years past, learning my way around several aspects of the business. It wasn't your typical 'daddy-daughter' internship though, I actually had to work. From using digital programs to help him design new brochere's, business cards and custom flags such as Adobe Photoshop, Lightroom and InDesign (which I had originally downloaded and learned how to effectively manuever for an online class), to driving around specific areas to do cold calls, I have gained some valuable experience and knowledge on how to listen, collaborate and connect with people within business. Not only this, but working in the field on several occasions, digging holes, mixing concrete and dirtying up my work boots, built major character and taught me that no matter how good you are, sometimes you got to start at the bottom and work your way up.
This is why I have come to realize it's time for me to begin applying for internships in my field, in order to gain more experience so I will be ready when I head off into the 'real world', if you will. College for me has been and will always be a young adult utopia where I blossomed and truly found and became my own individual self. I am hoping that getting internship experience while I am still in school will help me ease into the fast paced, high energy, working world that is right around the corner after graduation. Considering I have applied to several internships, only gotten interviews for a few, and still waiting to hear back, it's easy to become discouraged and feel rejected. While the old Sammy would be negatively affected by this and allow it to hinder over my head constantly, the new and improved Sammy doesn't let it stop me from searching for plenty more exciting opportunities in which I know I can and will thrive in if given the opportunity to!
I had an internship also related to Social media marketing and it was a lot of fun. My job was to run all kinds of Social media campaigns and all the campaigns were very creative and the opportunities to interact with the customers were also wonderful experiences. One thing I have to say about Social media marketing is that it is very important to know and like what you are promoting. Creativity is very important for running Social media campaigns and it is very difficult to be creative if you don't have the passion in it.
I keep hearing of internship opprotunities and keep meaning to apply and get one for next semester, but my busy schedule hasn't allowed me to find something realisitc. I realize how important it is to have 'real life' experience prior to graduation for better job opprotunities after graduation.
I would be interested in looking into this internship at Ingenex for experience, maybe even just to do the application process and interview to gain experience. If I don't do an next semester, I have a few options in my home town for interships after graduation in May.
As a senior approaching the final semester in his college career, I am realizing how soon I will need to at least attempt to narrow down my carreer path. I hope to find an internship upon graduation as opposed to a full time job. I feel an internship will help me get a good inside look in my field without the full commitment of a part time job. I wil be able to see if I like what I have chose, or on the contrary, will be able to see if I need to rethink my options
Having an internship is very important especially if you want to get a job in the future. Having an internship is good for your resume and is also good to get experience so you will know what you are doing when you start a job after college. It is hard to get around an internship nowadays. It is basically required to get a job.
Internships are very important while your in college because it helps you out in determining what you want to after graduation while providing you with real world experience. I recently completed an internship with an accounting firm called Plante Moran. My experience there was great and I was able to reassure myself that accounting was the profession for me and that I could succeed in the field. The internship experience I had also allowed me to receive a full time job offer. I think everyone should try to complete an internship while they’re in school so they can have a similar experience to what I had. The internship with Ingenex Digital Marketing sounds really cool and I would defiantly take it if I didn’t already have a job lined up.
I am graduating next May. Now some big companies begin to hire. It is time to get your resume ready and start to plan your future.
I know this is a great opportunity to get started with internships, and get ready for the future. I have yet to get into any interships because of my busy schedule. I would really like to get started so that I can learn and apply things so that im ready for what the future holds for me in any workplace.
I have had multiple good internships. Although none of them have been in any sort of marketing. They have all been in either the financial or insurance/employee benefits industry.
I have never had an internship but as a Junior I do plan on looking for one either next semester or over the summer. I may be interested in an internship at Ingenex because it seems like it would help me with my career and seems interesting. Also, I'm from the Ann Arbor area and love it there. I will look into it. Thanks for letting us know.
I'm currently an Ingenex intern and I HIGHLY recommend it! You'll gain valuable, marketable experience and work with an amazing group of people. Plus working downtown in Ann Arbor is sweet, especially as a Spartan... ;)
If anyone has any questions about what it's like or what kinds of things you'll be doing let me know!
I think there are nothing compares to real world experience. I would like to have an internship is ideal to aquire workplace sills and real life interpersonal relation tactics. I have not have had an internship yet. I want to be able to both learn from the job and apply my knowledge to school work as well.
I currently work for ANR Communications at MSU. Technically speaking, its not an internship because my position is "Student Graphic Designer", but the work I do and the experience I'm getting is the same as an internship. I get to create my own promotional items using MSUs brand identity. I also edit existing pieces. I work with the senior designers and editors. By the time I graduate, I will have had 10 months of experience in my field. I'm hoping this job will give me knowledge and confidence to take to my first job post-college.
This sounds like a great opportunity. I have yet to have an internship just because of my busy summers. But I do plan on getting involved with a part time internship this summer somewhere in the Lansing area. I have a great interest in digital marketing and this really does sound like a great stepping stone.
This class has made me think about getting a good internship and a good job.i have a mock interview set up for later today to see where I am at with my interviewing skills. I also went to a career mixer to get connected to various companies to find a quality internship that will hopefully develop my skills.
So far I have had 4 different internships 2 being marketing/sales positions. I am graduating in december and have a job in new york city working for an entertainment company doing sales and marketing which I am so excited about.
Hi, this is Jan, a digital strategist. I'm so glad to receive an email from Ingenex Digital to ask me to finish my application for the upcoming winter/spring internship. I sent an email with my resume and cover letter on this Friday (Nov. 7). I hope someone had read it and I will send a follow-up email in next Tuesday to make sure someone receive it and look for further information. Thank you for giving me the opportunity to join Ingenex, again!
My department has arranged sending us to Detroit to attend an AD Con next saturday. There will be many agencies in the advertising industry and I'm looking forward to be there!Me and my classmates are going to try to find opportunities to get an intern.
I have not had an internship yet and i graduate this coming december. Im currently working on my resume to send out to a few agencies and other places in my area in New Jersey. One of my friends has worked at an Ad Agency for the past few years and said they are looking for interns in their account department. So hopefully that works out.
This internship opportunity looks very interesting to me, I wonder is this internship require me to sit in an office to work or I can simply work online? I haven’t had an opportunity to have an internship, I think it would be very helpful for me to gain some hands-on experiences in the real world environment. An internship can also trains me in many other different aspects in the working environment , such as team works skills, inter-personal skill, communications skills and so on. Having an internship experience is one of my personal goal in college life, so I have been searching for it since last semester, and I wish I could find one soon.
Acctually I had a internship before and I was assigned into marketing department. I had the same schedule as other employees did and I helped them to do the basic stuffs, like classify the marterials. To be honest, this was not a good memory for me, however, I still learned a lot and got prepared fot my future jobs. It is necessary for me to experience before I actually go for a full-time job. This short summer intership gives me a chance to look at how those real professionals work everyday and how can I apply what I learned from textbook to real career challenge.
I have nver had an intership before. I would like to have an intership soon either in the states or in my country. I think having an intership will develop experiences through it and have advantage when you want to apply a job. Many of my friends had interships and they loved it even though they got no paid or low paid.
I will definitely apply for this marketing internship as it looks to be someting I would enjoy. I have had an internship, this past summer I was an intern at an ecommerce marketing company called HookLogic in Ann Arbor, MI. It taught me so much and really opened up my eyes to the real world. I learned more there this past summer than I did all of college, there really is nothing like real world experience and out of the classroom learning. I miss interning there very much and can definitely dedicate whatever my next steps in my career path to that company.
All I keep hearing about is how internships are almost absolutely necessary to be able to land a job when graduating college. I have recently applied for a lot of internships for next semester, and I already have two interviews for next week! It would be awesome to intern for Ingenex. If either of the internship opportunities don't work out, I will definitely apply. I believe internships are really important to have before a full-time job, because it gives real experience from professionals.
Internships are really important with landing a job out of college; I would say it’s one of the top things that future employers are looking for. An internship gets you experience in the field and you learn a lot more than you would by just sitting in a classroom. There are many cases where you are offered a job out of college from the company that you interned for, which is helpful since you already have background knowledge about the company. I would also say that going into an interview, having an internship on your resume is a major talking point. It’s kind of an icebreaker because there should be a lot of information and experiences that you can share. Not every job or internship that you have is going to be your favorite or ideal, so I think it’s important to find what you really like and some things that you don’t like. It’s all a learning experience and no one says that you have to be tied down forever.
I interned this past summer with PepsiCo as a sales intern and just took a full-time offer! I managed inventory, ordered in products, executed sampling events, and surveyed employees on work/life balance. I gained so much experience and am looking forward to starting full-time as a Customer Relations and Sales Associate! The digital marketing internship would be a great experience especially because digital marketing internships are very hard to find!
I haven't had any internship yet, and i am looking forword to find some internships about advertising or art management. Because I am a junior now and i hope i could had some working experience before i graduate.
I am currently on my 6th internship. After freshman year, I worked at Entertainment Publications where I worked with print production and proofing. I worked there the following summer with advertising and merchants, using programs to put the books together. During the school year I landed a social media internship with UQ Marketing. I also work for Marketing/ Advertising for Michigan State University which has helped in efforts of learning something that deals with my major rather than waitressing of some sort. I worked at Meridian Health Plan this past summer working for the Communications department doing PR, press releases, advertising internally and externally, and anythign needed. I loved working there! I currently work at FOX 47 in the Advertising Sales area. This is by far my favorite internship and exactly something I want to go into in my future. Internships are great to gain experience, but mainly to get a foot in the door in a place you want to be. If I never had experience in news/ entertainment, it would be a lot harder to get into this industry once I graduate. I am thankful for the opportunities I have had and the experience and knowledge I have gained.
Internships are the most important things to experience before graduating and applying for a real job. They let you get hands-on and real world experience without having to have a history of previous background experience. I have had several internships within the past few years that has really helped me understand what I like and do not like. My first internship was aborad working at a non-profit organization. Having almost no skills prior it was hard to give me work because I was very unexperienced. Some of ths skills I developed was I created marketing, communication material, and a promotional video for the organization. Along with building a sponsor contact network for short and long term fundraising. My second internship was at a Health Advertising company as Account Management. Here I developed knowledge in Google Analytics to help improve user experience and increase traffic, I assisted in presentation preparation, and assisted with many competitive landscape research projects for new clients and various products. And, as of right now I am working at a public affairs company as a strategic communication intern where I manage several social media platforms for several clients and hopefully will be assisting with media lists, press releases, and web design.
I have not had an internship, mostly because of some health related issues the end of my junior year/summer. But internships are a great way to gain hands on experience and the opportunity learn in the field, not just the classroom. A lot of my friends had internships and benefited greatly from them, whether it advanced their career, or in some cases, it even taught them that, that specific job path ended up not being what they wanted pursue.
A few summers ago I had a great internship on Mackinac Island with Mission Point Resort. I landed the internship the summer after my year in college, so it was a great experience that urged me to be independent and put myself out there in the world. I learned many great things, especially skills regarding dealing with difficult people-situations. The skills that I learned I apply to my current job everyday. Internships are crucial! They are where you get to dwell in intense work but they offer you a huge opportunity for learning!
I have not had an internship yet. I have done job shadows at Campbell and Ewald and I ran the Instagram account at the restaurant I worked at in Grand Rapids and from what I experienced I love the major I am getting into! I am eager to learn and apply myself, I just need a little push in the right direction and this may be what I am looking for.
I worked as the head of marketing, digital adveritsing, and social media for a few start-ups in the Ann Arbor area. I would be very excited to take my abilities to a well established company to see how it differs from working for a start-up company.
I worked for a post-production company over the summer doing promotional and managerial marketing for varies clients. I worked on clients ranging in music to TV and movies. It was a really awesome experience and almost everyday was a little different. I got to meet so many different types of people and ran into a few "famous" people throughout the summer. it was an awesome experience and would do it all over agian.
Internships in today's digital media realm are important in helping you develop the necessary skills that you need to advance in your field.
I've actually had a few good internships over the past years. My most recent internship was with Quicken Loans this past summer. I learned alot about committment and hardwork. The mortgage business is very demanding and I realized that each person plays a very important role in the success of the company and your performance means alot. As far as a job in advertising, I interned for The State News which was very different for me because I got a chance to manage myself and build personal relationships with my own customers. As an account executive, I learned the ins and outs of advertising such as creating and placing ads.
You can't go anywhere without an internship in todays world. They are very neccisary and very relevant.
This past summer I went back to work as a Digital Strategy Intern at Doner Advertising Agency. It was a great internship experience! I learned so much about the digital world and things such as Google Analytics, AdWords, Comscore target searches, and others. I also learned a lot about the agency life and how Doner's dynamics worked. It was all brand new and eye-opening. I was able to create and propose a fundraising strategy for one of Doner’s clients and also worked on an intern campaign for Doner Detroit. At the end of the summer we presented our campaign to the Doner Executives and took first place! All in all, it was an amazing experience full of new friends, constant learning, and a whole lot of fun! This internship was what reaffirmed my desire to work in the advertising field. I wouldn't trade a moment of it.
I have a strong belief that internships offer great opportunities for students to familiarize themselves with the industries in which they seek employment. I personally have not had the opportunity to benefit from an internship while at MSU. I don't feel like that holds me back though because I already have connections in many different job fields and have had on site experiences with many of these connections. I have already been offered multiple jobs upon graduating and that makes me feel safe about passing up on internship opportunities. It also allows me to work while being a student and still make a decent annual income. There are many pros and cons to internships and I feel like everyone needs to weight them out for their personal lives.
I have not yet had an internship during my career here at Michigan State. I currently run my own social media management business called Spartan Social Media Management. I manage many different small business acounts and I have to be able to craft good social media posts as well as manage/write blog posts, design graphics, and do a little bit of SEO. I think that this Ingenex internship is a great internship to look into. Graphic desing, web design, and analyitics are all the fields that I wish to go into. Even though I currently run my own business, I could definitely commit 15 hours a week next semester to incorporate an internship into my life.
I had a intership back to summer time, however I never think of digital marketing intership. This is a great website for searching and looking for a good intership.
Internships are crucial! In many major corporations they're even required in order to work your way to the top. They want to test your knowledge, drive, and skills before actually making you a permanent hire. I have done about three internships. One was with a Law Firm in Troy, MI and I found it to be a lot of grunt work (as will many organizations), but it was great from a networking standpoint. This is the key to me with internships -- meeting the right people, building a network, getting strong recommendations, etc. These will be the things that advance you in the future. Also, I was able to get vital information on breaking into the field, the LSAT, the BAR exam, etc.
My other internships in PR were great as well. They were hard on me and really threw me in head first. There was grunt work, but unlike many firms, I was a part of a lot of campaigns and got to develop things from the very beginning. The editing process and learning process was impeccable and definitely helped developed my skills. I built a huge network as well. I would never take the experience back -- even the tough times.
I have never had an intership but I have seen how benfeical they can be through my friends. I have had many friends find great internships that helped them find jobs after college. I have worked at a summer camp for the last four summers which is the reason I have never had an internship, and working at this camp has been beyond beneficial for me in many ways. I know an internship would be benefical for me, so Im sure I will find one eventually, and this internship mentioned above actually sounds like something I might be interested in.
I too have worked in children's camps in the past and can vouch for my friend Michael up here about how much of a rewarding experience it can be to work with our nation's future. I too have not experienced my first internship and would love to work in a more structured setting, as I know that internships can lead to full time job offers.
Although I have not had the opportunity of an internship yet, I am very interesting in doing so! I think it is a great way to gain experience and further develop your skills in your area of expertise. Committing to 15 hours a week is something that is definietly ideal in being a college student! Internships are great to have on your resumes and show that you are working hard towards what you want to do after college. Everyone should at some point in their college career persue an internship!
Unfortunately, I have not been able to obtain an internship position yet, but my hopes are high for this summer! If hunting for an internship is anything like hunting for a job after college, then I definitely will have my work cut out for me. It is a competitive and cut-throat world out there for college students vying for good internships. It is just not enough to hold a part-time position and get good grades in college anymore. Employers are looking for so much more these days- they want to see experience.
I haven't had any intermship yet. But I try to apply for a internship in Hawaii already. I want to be a wedding planner in the future, and I feel that Hawaii may be the best place that I could go. I was looking at their company website, find the most attractive one and then contact them try to apply for a intership. I would say that digital media is really important now. It can help us find a good internship out of the state, which can't be done in the old society.
Hope I can get that internship soon!
