Take a moment to check out Vine, the new social network from Twitter. Then, take a look at what the media is saying about it. Simply put, Vine is Instagram with video. Users can record five second, looping videos and post them online. Much like Instagram, followers can like or comment on posted videos.
This new social network has already had it's share of controversy (users uploading porn? oh no!) but is still growing quickly. In my opinion, the new platform suffers from lack of purpose, ie: why should I use this? But I felt the same way about Twitter, the iPad and Facebook.
Whether you are doing digital marketing, public relations or web design it's important to stay current with evolving technologies. My question to you is two fold,
- How do you plan on staying current with technology after you graduate?
- What do you think of the vine app?
Comments & Feedback
I personally plan on staying current with technology after i graduate by using sites like facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter, and hopefully pinterest for business (i already have a fun pinterest account). In this day in age, social media and the internet are going to be an extremely influential and necessary tool for all business, if not already.
Personally, i love to use my Vine App. I am not one of those "viners" that makes my own personal videos (only occasionally), but choose to view vines for entertainment. I retweet vines and favorite the ones that make me laugh and that i can connect to. I wondered what the purpose of vine was and if it was just another dumb app. I was wondering this at around the same time that the Keek app was trying to make it big. Ultimately i chose to get the vine free app and it is so entertaining, which makes me happy i did. There are already viners who are verified because they have so many followers, and a lot of them are getting paid to promote other companies. Trident Gum has a vine and uses some of these vine famous people. While vines may be 6 seconds long, they sure are entertaining.
I am relatively new to social media. I have had Facebook and Twitter and a few other social media, but I have never really used them. They were created and then just were never really used. I feel like part of the reason for the lack of use, was the lack of access that I had to the media. I have never had a smart phone, so using social media on the go was never an easy task. By the time I actually got to a source to post, I found what I had to say irrelevant. However, I now have a smart phone, so no I have easier access. I believe this is a major factor in staying involved in social media after graduation. Is having the exposure to the media. Also watching the news and looking at apps is another way I would go about staying up to date.
As for Vine, I initially thought that it was an awful app. My sister would be constantly on it and it just seemed like awful noise. However, I think that it is going to blossom into a very useful media. It is a good source for humor. Not only that, it also is brief and to the point, which I think could be extremely useful in advertising or even PR. I am a little curious to see how it does now that Instagram now has a video feature.

I posted a response to this blog when it was initially posted saying that I thought that Vine was a bad idea and that it would never take, or be able to compete in the market of social media. Recently My friends have stated to pick up on the craze and have began posting vine videos on their twitters. I downloaded the app and thought i would give it a chance. I am actually very happy with the app. It is very easy to use and a fun way to post short creative snipets for your followers to view. I would say that as it continues to generate a following I will like it even more. I only have a few people I know that i can follow, and more followers will make it more fun to use. I also like that, unlike instagram, you can look through categories of vine videos that other people have posted. I think that I am really going to like this app, despite what I previosly posted!
I posted a comment on this blog post several weeks ago (when the post was first created) for my weekly participation. I wasn't fond of the idea of Vine, I didn't think it would get too big. This blog post was the first time I heard of Vine. However, in the last couple of weeks I have been seeing Vine on Twitter and my Facebook newsfeed (people link their Twitter accounts to their Facebook accounts). Vine is kind of weird, but hilarious. I don't see myself using it, but it seems like quite a few people have jumped on the Vine bus. I have watched several of my friends' Vine videos.
In order to stay current with technology after i graduate i intend on staying involved in social media. I feel that most of the time when i find out about the next latest and greatest thing it is through a friend posting about it on facebook, or twitter etc. I think the vine app will definietly take off. It is a combination of youtube and instagram. Sometimes the stuff you post on instagram would be better seen via video and vine provides the oppurtunity to do just that. As far as the negative things that could occur, such as porn, i think the creators should have a way to block/report that content. Youtube and other sites have a way to do so, therefore there is no reason that vine shouldn't be able to do so as well.
I have posted on this already saying that I do not believe Vine will grow in this social media world. As it stands right now, it has not been downloaded on my phone and I just dont see it coming into play. After I graduate I do actually plan on staying in touch with people using facebook, twitter and instagram. These are the most common and honestly I find them pretty interesting.
Again I think the vine app will die out soon enough, unless it is needed for a class or something along those lines I do not see it lasting.
After I graduate, depending on where I am, I will always use Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter. I'm assuming there will be new social medias which I will probably join but as of now, these are the perfect ones to stay in touch with everyone I want to. Hopefully my job will be up to date with all the technology that comes out but usually the media keeps me up to date with all the fast moving technologies. I think vine is great for some things but to capture a moment that is funny or informational is not likely. I think it will be a fad for a while but fade out because of how annoying people will get using it.
I love technology. It's evolved right before my eyes as I've grown up. I've always had a strong interest in new cool gadgets and all areas of social media. With time, technology is going to continue to improve and I can't wait to see what else tech could do for my daily live. I'm a HUGE Apple fan, and own just about all of their innovations so to stay current I will continue my brand loyalty to the Apple brand since they are one of the leaders in the tech world.
This Vine app has no purpose to me, personally. Nothing compares to Instagram in my opinion because its simple: you post cool photos amongst a network of your friends. Snapping pics is simple. The looping video thing seems like a bit too much work for the average social network user. I recently made a profile for a similar app called Cinegram, which is pretty much the same thing as Vine and I rarely use it. There was also another app of its caliber called Viddy, which didn't last too long among my peers either. Stick with photos, they're much more simple to post.
Being a communications major with a specialization in PR, I don't think I will be given the chance to not stay current with technology. It will be my job to be on top of technology trends and how they will be able to help the place I am working for. I think it will be key to always be researching new trends and at the very least trying them out for a few weeks to see if they are something I am interested in.
I have heard of the Vine app, and I think it's pretty cool. I don't use it myself, because I do not have a need and my phone does not support the app. But I do follow a few companies that do use it and I enjoy the videos they post.
I definitely use facebook to keep in touch with my friends in USA after graduate. I think Vine is giving user a lot of options. Since Twitter is spreading all over the world, I guess Vine will be like that as well. Basically they only can take a video for 6 seconds and upload it. However, I think it sometime will be crucial to express something in 6 seconds.
I am really into Vine. It is so cute and awesome. It contains the "Explore" page to allow users to search their favorite videos under different categories. The interface is user friendly and lovely cute. One problem would be my concern is that when I scroll down the page, the video will automatically pop up and even I do not like it, I can not turn it off. I expect the future improvement for this app.
After I gradate I plan to stay up with technology through research and social networks in finding out what is new and giving it a try. Just like twitter and instagram I never thought I would use them. But I am at the moment so I think that the vine app may get bigger I don’t think it is as big as twitter at the moment but that is how everything seemed to have started and there is still room for growth.
Since this blog was posted the vine app seems to have taken off. I see a lot of my favorite music artists and celebrities using this frequently now. In my first comment on this blog awhile back I thought the the app wouldn't become very popular but it seems I may be wrong.
I posted on this right topic when Vine was new and just coming out. What I said before was that I think it was not a good idea and that it will not hold up with the other social media outlets. Since the last post I have infact dowloaded it and most of my friends are on it as well. I still do not see it as a huge "thing" like Instagram but with time I can see it growing. If there was an issue with people uploading any inappropriate videos I think it would have shut down by now. Lets give it another few months and see if it really catches fire.
I found out this app through one of my class discussion. It was amazing how when the student was talking about Vine app, pretty much everyone pulled up their phone and started to search for Vine app. It is a new and different kind of app. A new and more innovative way of GIF. Pretty interesting and entertaining. After graduation, I am not sure if I would be able to spend as much time on social media and apps as I do while being a student unless my job is related to social media. Either way I know social media is something that will never be cut off from my life. It has become one of our daily routine, especially with the help of smartphones.
Over the past week on Twitter I have seen more and more people using Vine. It has been New York Fashion Week and many designers, fashion labels, fashion & beauty magazines, and bloggers have been using the Vine app to take videos of the runway shows. I see how Vine is very useful for the fashion world because it’s a way for people to connect to the fashion world. The Vine videos of NYFW make you feel like your sitting in the front row of the show. I also read that over that they have fixed the issue with inappropriate videos on Vine. I believe that Vine is starting to take off, lets see if it will last!
Absolutely! Technology is growing and not going away. I think it is so essential to stay informed and up to date with technology and all of the new social media that goes along with it. I think most social media has either been a hit or a miss. Facebook an Twitter are obviously hits, while Myspace seemed like it was going to be a hit, but ended up fizzling out quite quikly. Vine could end up taking over YouTube, like Facebook took over Myspace, but I am not too sure that will happen. Maybe I don't have the best idea of all the social media around me, but I think that if Vine were the hot new social media, I would have heard about it sooner.
I feel like whatever industry I'm in I'll always be able to keep up on new technology. A lot of us are raised in an era where if you aren't up on the newest thing you're going to be left behind. A lot of our discoveries of new techonology are now organic and they're more heavily advertised and available then they used to be. I'll stay up on my blogs, read the ads for the newest phones and computers, and probably just watch what everyone around me is up on. The Vine App is a really cool idea and it's interesting that it's owned by twitter. The idea has been there for a while but it's kind of waiting on a smooth, intuitive interface. Vine is going to take a lot more time than instagram or twitter. The real success of both of those I beleive is that it's a real quick (snap a photo, send 140 characters) service. Yes, a looping video is a short, edible piece of media but think of how long it's going to take to get that loop jussssssst right. Too much work for me, so I won't pick it up until everyone around me is buzzing on it.
For Vine, I don't see myself ever using it - but then again, I also don't use Skype or Facetime or any kind of telecommunicating service for personal use. Those younger than me (just entering high school/college) were raised with these features, where I didn't get a RAZR until I was about 17 so it is not as natural to me. We did discuss this service in another class, and much of the discussion centered more around the adult entertainment and how much more open Twitter is to it than Facebook. I assume they will have to eventually tighten the reigns on the service or face public pushback.
When it comes to staying with technology in general, I plan on relying on popular sites such as Gizmodo and other news articles. After major trade shows, it is very frequent to see companies such as Yahoo!, CNN, etc. covering the latest gadgets. I would consider myself in the middle of adoption cycle, as I am well aware that prices will come down and newer, updated versions of the product are bound to come out and also fix any lingering issues from new products. Not being an Apple fan helps in this sense, as there are constant upgrades and new models coming out to leave the early adopters behind.
Just like everything else, if it is your passion to stay current with technology, you will ultimately find a way to do so. Personally, I would follow up some blogs and social media where I can gain knowledge, information and thoughts easily. As long as you are interested in it, you won't miss it.
As to the Vine, some concerns have raised toward the pron issue. It is a serious problem for Vine to solve. Also, just like Instagram, I think Vine would be successful afterward. Because Facebook and Twitter originally contain the image/video uploading features, however, Instagram was not beaten down. In addition, Vine's video making process is like an extention of pictures taking. It streams all the pictures and make it a loop to create the animation video. It is a new experience which is fancinating, especially to the youngsters. Once they can solve the porn filter issue, I believe not only the youngsters but also elders would like it in the end.
I don't think staying current with technology will be much of an issue after I graduate. I have a solid interest in social media technology, and I hope to make a career out of it someday! For those reasons, it's in my best interests to keep up with technology and stay on the edge of new social media. I love reading tech blogs that spell things out in relatively simple terms. One of my favorites is CNet's Digital Media blog.
As you said, it was hard for me to see an initial purpose of the app. It's still very new, and I believe more features will be released as it grows-up. What I like about the vine app is its ease of use. Twitter is my platform of choice, so that fact that it's Twitter-born makes me want to stick around and see where it goes. I think the videos from vine are going to be entertaining ways to "connect" with our favorite celebrities, brands, and products. The overall purpose of all social media is to build relationships. I think the vine has the potential to take that in a new direction.
In order to stay current with technology after I graduate, I will keep up with social media. Although it may get exhausting, I will try to engage in every new source of social media that comes out. I will try my best to stay eager to learn and grow with the changes and innovations. I also will continue to purchase more technology devices as they become more advanced, such as smartphones. Regarding my thoughts of the vine app, I think that it will be yet another hit, just like instagram. Becuase its purpose is so similar to instagram, I'm sure that users will quickly make the transition. After all, there is not such a huge difference between posting videos and posting photos; not to mention the increase of youtube users.
Social media are definitely ways for me to stay with technology after graduate. As media persons, we have to keep up with the trends. Social media themselves are trends, they are also effective and convenient ways to learn about anything new, critical, no matter it takes place how far away from us.
I have never used the Vine app. I know Instagram is great, and many people like it. I also checked the Vine’s customer reviews. As a new app, it is undoubtedly successful as getting such much recognition from customers. Its concept is new and can be accepted by the market. I think Vine’s prospect will be positive, and I am too impatient to wait to try to use it.
I plan on staying current with technology after I graduate by continuing to use Twitter and Facebook to stay connected with trends and friends that I have all around the world. Since I will be entering the professional world, I plan on using Linkedin more regularly to connect with people in my indsutry, follow industry trends, and stay up to date with news that I find significant about the laboral world. I plan to join any new social media sites that gets put into the online world as long as they are relevant to my needs and as long as they produce some kind of satisfying and/or productive outcome for myself. I also plan on always having the latest technology because I am not only passionate about new devices and software coming out, but also so I can keep up with the changes and always be able to utilize the most current technology.
I think the Vine app will be succesful because people will be able to film short videos and instantly have them uploaded and shared with friends. Some will use it to share funny videos and make their friends laugh, others will use it to send romantic shots to their loved ones, and others might even use it in a more professional manner (for instance, journalists posting a short clip of a fire going on somewhere). Even though the app only allows 5 second clips, the limits are endless and I think people will get very creative with this app, making it far more attractive than what many believe it can be.
I plan on staying current with technology after I graduate by keeping up to date with Facebook's new features, and strenthening my profiles on LinkedIn and Twitter. I will not join every single new social media site that comes out, because there is such thing as too much social media. But I will join the big ones. Social media will always be important for a marketing major such as myself, because it has become such an intregal part of marketing. I think the Vine app is an innovative idea, but I also feel that it lacks purpose. Not a lot of people have the patience to play all the videos that appear in thier news feed. And this is limiting the videos to 6 seconds, so you can't really do much with that.
I follow new technology blogs and I have close friends that are in the tech world, so that is how I plan on staying current with technology. I think Vine is a very cool site, and if they market themselves correctly, Instagram might be in trouble.
After graduation I feel like I will have to be much more involved and up to speed with technology. As a future ad person, in order to stay on top or cutting edge, you have to be equally flexible to the changing technology, or without a doubt 'laggard' would be an appropriate term to describe myself. However, I don't think personally Vine is something that would be valuable personally, but maybe from a marketing point of view it would be beneficial. From a personal stand point I feel like Vine is just as pointless and full of unintended effects when used on a person to person basis. Yet, it is also full of amazing opportunity. For entrepreneurs or companies they would be potentially able to share what they are up to or working on currently with their fan bases and clients. If I was a consumer following, say my favorite band I would be excited to see a six second video of them unloading the tour bus, sound checking, and setting up for the gig in my city that night. In conclusion I think Vine will be an interesting product with some high points but more low points.
I think that I will continue using Social Media when I graduate in the personal setting and in the business side. Social media sites like Twitter are just trying to expand on there already huge customer base. If they could get everyone from Twitter to use Vine, then it poses the question, why not jsut make Twitter able to upload videos. But if they separate these ideas they can get the users on two sites and two different advertising models. I think Vine will fail because youtube is all ready out there and how much can you really fit into 5 seconds.
Facebook and Twitter continue to become vital sources for news, media, and communication with friends and family. I will continue to use both sites upon graduation because they are only improving. I use Twitter to ready witty comments from comedians and to keep up with what is going on around the world. I use Facebook to connect with peers and friends, as well as for upcoming concerts. I could see some people using the vine app to send videos to one another. However, it does not seem like an app that I would use because I have other apps I find more useful.
I for one consider myself a technological nut. I'm obsessed with it and always have been. I'm always on top of the trends and plan to continue to be. So that's how I plan to stay current with it after I graduate. I hope it stays true because I'd hate to fall behind like generations before me.
The vine app is, in my opinion, a great concept. I like that it's instagram for videos. It's funny because it's owned by Twitter, and instagram is owned by Facebook, and the two companies are currently "fighting". So that's fun. Other than that, I don't have an iPhone, so I can't really use it yet. But I definitely plan to.
I've always been on top of the social media game (or so I like to think), so I hoping to keep in tact my ties with old friends and new colleagues after graduation. I believe that the future of marketing, advertising, as well as public relations hold their futures in social media. Companies are booming on Twitter, LinkedIn, Facebook, etc. With that said, theres millions of possibilities for new, innovative social media websites to pop up. I'd never heard of Vine before but I have used Cinemagram which happens to be very similar. These video sharing apps are really cool and I think will become very popular in the near future. At this point they don't serve a big purpose for the big companies, but probably will soon.
I can see myself using Facebook and Twitter after graduation. I dont find myself using either that much right now but I could see myself using it more in he future. I like that Facebook and Twitter have purpose behind them. I use Facebook to see what friends and family are up to, and twitter for the latest news and trends. As for the vine app, I don't think I will ever use it. I could see how it could be used to send clips from concerts, or to send a personalized message like virtual voicemail. I just don't rely that much on technology to find myself actually utilizing that.
I think that graduating with a major in Advertising is going to kind of force me to keep updated with technology. Advertising ties in many ways with the internet and different social media websites. To me the new vine app is pretty cool. I can't wait to see how creative people will get with it. I feel that a video is definately worth more than 1000 words. It's a new trend that is coming out and it's cool and maybe it will eventually die out like many others but for now lets see how much the public will enjoy it.
I plan on staying current with technology after I graduate by working at a company that promotes the use of technology in new innovative ways. The company that I plan on working for is called Rakuten. Rakuten is the Japanese version of Amazon and is currently expanding at large proportions. Rakuten was named forbes number 7th most innovative company in the world and continues to gain recognition for its use of technology in the office. For example, all interviews are done over skype and even the morning meetings are streamed online. By working at a company that promotes the use of technology I will always be able to stay in the technological loop. While I feel Vine is extremely innovative and original, I do not see it lasting for a very long time or even being caught on by the majority. For those who wish to watch video clips, there is already youtube. I feel that consumers enjoy a beautiful picture on instagram more than a five second clip. With Tumblr, Instagram, and Youtube already in existance I do not see where Vine fits in exactly but I am excited to see in which direction it is heading.
I plan on staying current with technology by reading blogs daily. Blogs are a very good way to learn about everything new. They have reviews from comsumers, which will help me to decide if I want to use the new type of technology. As for the vine app, I think is not very necessary but it will catch on like all of the other necessary social media. It seems like a ripoff of instagram but the five second clip is a little bit more awkward. There is potential to be funny, but I would rather watch a whole youtube video or just look at a picture. Also, for the person recording the video, how do they get the perfect five seconds? Is there an option to record a longer video and eidt their favorite part?
After I graduate I plan to keep with the usage through the other social media accounts such as twitter Facebook as well as reading articles about it. These social networks are great tools on breaking news and articles give a more in depth explanation if needed. I think that vive may be a great sensation. I am not sure if it would be something I would use but then again Twitter was something that didn't stroke my attention at first. I think it can be a great way for people to express certain things in a different way . Also will allow people to have variety of ways in social networking in expressing something creatively. To be able to have a different sort of medium to express or represent something can be a good thing. It being only 5 seconds long can make it short, sweet and to the point. On the other hand it is also another social network that takes people away from their surrounding and into their technology.
I agree with the lack of purpose for this video-based app. Then again, everyone manipulates and uses different apps to suite their own individual purposes, right? So even if I don't see a need to use this it doesn’t mean it’s not going to become popular with the general public. For that reason I feel as though its important to keep up with new apps and sites like this. Keeping track of the amount of user grown on this site would be an easy way to tell whether or not companies should market with it. If the amount of users are steadily increasing I think that is a sign to jump on board. That type of surveillance applies to any and all other social media sites, whether I want to use them or not. Vine has the potential to become just as popilar as Instagram, but only time will tell!
I need to stay current with the newly-introduced technology after graduation. There will be lots of SNS platforms and apps at that time.I will just keep using a few apps to catch on with the current fashion but not too many apps.Too many apps and account will make me check lots of website and see what happens every day, update my status ,and upload pictures. It's kind of distracting me from focus on one or two very interesting website and interesting topic or account. And actually, they all keep us informed with the same thing with different format, sometimes.
So I think its a very good ,creative app.But I didn't found the posted videos have any sound in my phone app.I think I will use it if I find something interesting and want to share it to twitter. But I will not use it quite often, because the content is kind of one category. Not as rich as the imformation ,content provided in twitter, facebook, pinterest.Maybe it's better among the user who always record their life by video. And I have seen the trend of the sound -vedio-grapics combination age in the internet.Lots of SNSs have added sound text for status update.Let's see what the Vine will be.
Personally I think that videos, even if they are only 5 seconds, are usually super awkward to watch. I know that even since snapchat came out with the video upgrade, I still rarely use it. Obviously people are always going to be pushing the limits and uploading questionable behavior. It will be hard to monitor what exactly is being posted unless someone watches every 5 second clip that is being posted up there. I also agree with you in the fact of why should I use this? Pictures are one thing, but videos seem almost unnecessary to me. After I graduate, I play on staying current with technology by keeping myself involved on the internet. When people post about new hit sensations, whether it be a website, an app, or a gadget, I usually look into it to try to learn about what the fascination is all about. Like I said, I am not a fan of videos, and I don’t really see a point in what exactly my friends would be posting videos of. I still think a pictures says 1000 words, so I don’t need video proof.
After I graduate, I plan on continuing my Twitter and Facebook accounts. It's a great way to stay in tocuh with friends and family, and Twitter is still my number one source for breaking news stories. As for technology as a whole, if any social media or technological newcomer infiltrates the market in a big enough way, I'll be able to keep up with it through other forms of social media, which is somewhat ironic. When looking over the Vine app, I realized there are other apps just like it now. Cinemagram and Jittergram are both apps where you can record a short video and play it on loop. It seems the next logical step in the app world is a "snap video", but so many people know this that the app is becoming flooded by imperfect competitors.
I personally believe that Vine, though new, will soon grow to be a hit sensation. Because of all the hoorah with snapchat, and cinegram etc. iPhone and Andriod users are always looking for more ways to express themselves/publish themselves in the media world. After I graduate, I plan on staying up with current technologies by working in a field that requires me to, and possibly even be a part of new media innovations. As is in college it is difficult to stay up with the current social sites, but I hope to and plan on being part of the cutting edge of social media after graduation. Additionally, I think that the Vine app is useful and cool. All of my friends have been downloading it on their iPhones the past week or so. We haven't really found a way to make it fill a niche in our lives just yet, but just as instagram and every other social media site, I believe that it is and will become extremely popular, especially for users ages 12-17 and in the film industry as teasers.
Personally, I plan on moving along with the current flow of the new technologies because I can either choose to use the app or whatever device comes out. If it is a useful tool for me in the future, I don’t think it’s a bad idea. I look forward to the upgrades, such as phones, social media, etc. It helps communicate with one another in a entertaining and convenient way.
I actually think the Vine app is great because a lot of people use snapchat which sends photos over to the other person through phone. I’m assuming most people use it for a purpose and sending video is just another form. Just like YouTube, I believe they should limit the use to a certain extent where it’s appropriate. Coming up with these new things are great for everyone. If someone has something quick to say, it’s useful. If it becomes an issue, there must be a way to prevent that too.
I LOVE VINE! I have found myself making literally tons of videos on everything that occurs during the weekend. I look back at my Vine videos and laugh at all of the amazing things I was able to capture and it turns into this automatic new movie. I have had so much fun with the app so far and can't wait to see how it progresses. After I graduate, I think I am going to need to keep reading all of the resource sites that we were given in this class. I read Mashable daily, but I will have to be more conscious of my online reading decisions when I graduate. I have so much fun trying out new apps and figuring out how to navigate through the social media world. It is a lot easier when friends recommend new and exciting apps to try. It is so easy for word of mouth to spread on a college campus. In advertising though, I do not think it will be as hard as I think to stay connected. This is our field!
1. I dont think staying current with technology as we age will be as big of a problem for our generation. Due to the fact that we grew up with the internet and we've been on the cutting edge of technology through our schooling years keeping up with technology will just be a natural part of our lives. My plan is to work for an online advertising firm after I graduate and hopefully the nature of that field would force me to keep up with relevant technologies.
2. I think the vine app provides a somewhat new look at social media but I dont anticipate it being on nearly the same level as instagram or twitter. With snapchat being able to send videos as well I think it is going to struggle to become and stay relevant but Im looking forward to seeing its impact on other social media sites as they rush to compete.
Honestly, I don't know. Vine seems like a cool App, but I really don't think it will compete well with other applications like Videogram that have been on the market for awhile. It's a cool concept, and is naturally the next step when it comes to sharing media, but it just seems a little much for me. YouTube has a mobile app for literally every smart phone out there. I mean, those guys invented shared videos. In today's world, people are busy and don't want to be bothered. Most of the time if I read something online, I honestly don't have any desire to watch a video attached. Maybe it would be different since the app is solely about videos, but it would be a completely different type of consumer who would be into this most likely--probably college aged or younger.
It's inevitable that I'll stay current with technology after I graduate because it's one of my passions; technology and social media an integrated part of every day life for me. Some of my "breaks" throughout the day consist of checking new Twitter trends (which eventually lead to introduction of apps such as Vine). However, I am afraid that I'll become 'old-school' eventually after I graduate because there are so many new networks that are created each year. So maybe I'll end up creating and/or sponsoring a social network and/or blog that introduces and analyzes new technology and trends as they unfold!
As far as the Vine app goes, I think it's going to be a hit. It's unique, but not "too unique" that it won't be adopted by current Twitter, Instagram and Snapchat users (even though Snapchat recently integrated video capability). The only downside I've read about so far with Vine is it's not compatible with Tumblr, which is unfortunate because the use of GIFs on Tumblr has gained a lot of popularity lately (i.e., http://whatshouldwecallme.tumblr.com/), so I think a Vine/Tumblr combination would definitely catch on. But I do think Vine will become one of the next most-talked about apps out there in the upcoming weeks/months (the time it takes to catch on will most likely depend how effective their social media campagin is- ha ha).
I was big into the vine app when it first came out. However, as time went on it seemed like more of a job then an app for fun. I still use the vine today and have an account but I rarely ever post any videos. I mostly use the Vine for looking at videos people post to help keep me entertained in my spare time.
