                  Recently, I have had a couple classes that have put a lot of emphasis on Google and Google AdWords. I even had Michel Laurenc come and speak in my Interactive Advertising Management class! Since I was new to Google AdWords, this tool was almost intimidating. However, I have discovered that is an innovative, easy way for just about anyone in the world to advertise on Google-no matter what their budget is!

                As advertising has swiftly transformed from many mediums from TV, to radio, to the print, many people are finding the Internet to be the most efficient channel which advertisers can market their products. Because of the Internet’s flexibility, advertisers are able to reach out and engage with people while producing campaigns that specifically target their audiences. Since Google is the world’s most popular search engine, it makes perfect sense for advertisers to use Google AdWords.

                When a user visits Google.com, they will enter a keyword and press the Google Search button. In response, Google will display a search results page that lists Web sites that most clearly relate to the search query.  The most relevant page to the user’s keyword appears first, then the second most relevant page and so on. Google recognizes which results are most relevant through Google’s algorithms, which are a set of highly developed computations that help identify the relevancy of each search query. Google then scans its immense index and displays the most relevant pages based on Page Rank and other advanced algorithms.

                Google AdWords allows you to expand your reach through the content network, target the right user in the right context, and measure and optimize your results. Even small businesses have gotten their start through an inexpensive Google AdWords account.

An example from the class that I am creating a Google AdWords account is listed below. We are representing a family physician in Novi.  When searching for “Novi Doctors” on Google, our Web site shows up on the first page of results, however, it is near the bottom so we will need to improve our SEO.
