Who is really on Facebook?

The statistics on who uses Facebook are very valuable to companies.  Specific demographics are what makes Facebook's advertising so great; as companies can target the exact audience that they need.  I find it really interesting to note that 70% of Facebook users are outside of the U.S.  I would have assumed a higher percentage of U.S. users however this statistic is a great thing for Facebook and international advertisers.

Learning How to Drive Down Media Highway

This week’s assignment was to begin reading the “New Media Driver’s License Resource Guide.” There was a lot of valuable information in the text and provided resource links, however the following bullet list is what was most significant to me.

The New Media Driver's License Resource Guide

Becoming a better blogger.

Ideas from NMDL Resource Guide

Clearly, "new media has changed nearly everything", just as Michal Lorenc wrote in the foreword. Not only it changes the way people communicated, interacted and/or being entertained, but also it changed the way people thinking about questions. The book provides many insightful ideas for us. To me, the discussion about geolocation services in chapter 6 is most inspired. Before reading this, I was not enthusiastic about any geolocation software.

Sharing tools- Paper.Li. and Foursquare

In order to write SEO-Friendly Blog Posts, I found out a good SEO optimizing tool called Paper.Li. it is actually a content marketing tool. Paper. Li. is a free service that helps you carry content from Twitter, Facebook, RSS feed, google plus into an online newpaper. I linked the newspaper Paper.Li. published to my blog and set the keyword Traveling, which is closely related to my blog theme.

Integrating and Promoting Blogs

In promoting my blog, I started by creating a Facebook page and a Google+ page for my blog, using the same title as my blog. I then linked the pages to my blog, and filled out their profiles a bit. For a profile picture, I searched through my blog and found an amusing one of a pickle I had ordered from Jimmy John’s that had a face drawn on.
