Blog Focus and Promotion

My blog has really gone through some changes this past week!  I gave it an updated look, added more posts, changed up the widgets and invited a guest blogger.  In this week's David Meerman Scott's reading, I wanted to focus on the Blogging Ethics Guidelines he writes about on pages 240-241.  Now that I am part of this blogging community, I want to contribute the right way.  So "transparency, privacy, disclosure, truthfulness and credit" are now top of mind every time I create a new post and comment on other blogs.

Blogging is a personal tool used to express an individual's interests and feelings on a particular topic. "Blog" can often be seen as a negative term especially by writing professionals. Journalists often see blogs as a joke due to the lack of research and interviews to validate the information posted in them. What these professionals don’t realize is that most people who write blogs are doing it for a hobby and as something they enjoy to do and do not always see it in a totally professional light.

Blogs - Helping Businesses and the Bloggers

Before this week's assignment, I had no idea of how blogging could benefit me or my company.  As the Marketing Manager at Bosco's Pizza Co., I get to interact with our consumers through the company Facebook page and from emails I receive when people visit our company Contact page.  I post photos and contests on Facebook to have conversations with our fans.  I also respond to each email sent to the company (from rave reviews, to complaints, to coupon requests) as I want B
