Blogs help your company speak

 

While reading “The New Rules of Marketing & PR” by David Meerman Scott, I broadened my concept of blogging and how blogs can be a valuable tool in PR. My experience and knowledge of blogging has to this point only been reading random blogs that I find through my searches through search engines. I never really put it to thought that a company could use blogging so in depth for developing their social media image and to put an almost real person voice to their company.

Facebook and how it changed the world

 

When you walk into any lecture hall at Michigan State, or any University around the world for that matter, you are bound to see the classic white on blue look of Facebook. Users around the world in High School, College, or even senior citizens are all avid users of Facebook. It started as an idea by Harvard College Students Mark Zuckerburg and Eduardo Saverin in 2004 as a way to connect with other Harvard Students. 

Defining Yourself: Keywords Essential to Increasing Blog Traffic and Post Reads

After seeking to "get the word out" about my blog last week, this week my job was to make my blog "findable"! The first thing I did was "Google" my blog. Wow, was that an eye opener. I couldn't even find it! After reading through some of the resources from our book, I was able to connect some of the dots.

I Can See Why...

I can see why Google is so popular for SEO and advertising. Before starting this class, I knew why the pages at the very top of the search were there, because they were paid advertisements; and that there was a ranking system for what was below that, but I wasn’t sure how that worked. After reading through the resources and reading the section for optimization by D.M. Scott, I am much more informed.

SEO oh oh oh oh.. the right stuff!

I've made some additional progress as far as promoting my blog... 

-Link Building – I added four comments to three blogs, and a link to my blog was included with the posts. See attachments.

-Key Words – I wasn’t sure of my blog theme at first. However, certain ideas have emerged after six posts – information, media, marketing, branding, technology, communications, etc.

Blog Promotion by a Novice Blogger

Being relatively new to the blogging world, I was a little nervous to promote my blog. I wasn’t sure how to go about it, and be effective so that people would actually read and follow my blog. To start out, I looked at the New Media Resources. The article by Darren Rowse was helpful in coming up with ideas on how to promote my blog.
